imo this is like saying.... lets get rid of platinum, silver, palladium... and while we're at it -- eliminate copper, bronze, and every other metal we have... because we have gold.
I read that to myself in Bender's voice. Lol... i should have said "bite my shiney golden metal a..."

Metals have real world uses and applications. Scam coins and pump & dumps don't. True... they have real world use and applications because we want them to be useful and apply them. cryptos have no physical property whatsoever... however, they have value because we want them to have value. I see no difference between the perceived value of either.

I thought the whole idea of BQC was that it's a fun, low-difficulty alt to screw around with. It's obviously never going to be used for any real commerce. The only purpose of an exchange would be to scam noobs out of their money.
People will speculate/trade on anything that has a potential for profit. People seem to like BBQCoin and are willing to pay for them, if people want to trade them I don't see anything wrong with it. I mean Bitcoin IS open-source for a reason, right...? I read, a long time ago, crypto currencies have value only because people want them to have value.

Nope I don't consider it a pre-mine as there was no pre-mining.
I would just say there was just a really short notice.

we should get p2pool running for bqc, unfortunately I am not a programmer, but it should be possible, seems its already done for Feathercoin ?
Hmmm... It should work just by pointing it in your client, using "litecoin" Unfortunately it doesn't... I get this error when I try: run_p2pool.exe --net litecoin -a bEQCmJ7zrunKoQux6XsyUgbwJRojEpGYZ5 --bitcoind-rpc-port 1234 user pass run_p2pool.exe: error: error parsing address: ValueError('address not for this net!',)

There will be more coins...
I guess it would be helpful if there was a topic labeled: "Launching a new coin? New coin guidelines to follow"

How can you claim there was no pre-mine when you haven't announced your coin before starting it ?
And no, announcing it 5 min before launch does not count.
Why not? I was in the forum at the right time. when i started there was like 300 blocks. Nobody told me... i was paying attention. I think his point is that it's not fair to those of us who aren't available to stalk the forums all day long. A true "no pre-mine" is when a coin is announced, days, weeks or months in advance (not minutes in advance) so everyone has a TRUE equal opportunity at being an "early adopter". Point taken.

Help, I cannot get the miner to work at all. Tried the CGMiner and failed as well.
I'm running feathercoinqt as a server using the -server option.
cgminer --scrypt -u miner -p password -o 127.0.0.1:8101 --worksize 256 -g 2 -I 13 --shaders 2048
tried :8100 as well
feathercoin.conf
server=1 daemon=1 rpcuser=miner rpcpassword=password rpcport=8100 port=8101
What am I doing wrong? The miner won't even start in the wallet.
Should be using the RPC port for mining 8100... Add: rpcallowip=* to your feathercoin.conf file. (You'll need to restart your FC client for the extra setting to work). Ok, I have to say something here because this is a pet peeve of mine: DO NOT USE rpcallowip=* Using that setting with a complete wildcard allows anybody/anything that can get to the daemon to issue rpc commands to it. Restrict it down like: rpcallowip=192.168.1.* This will only allow hosts on the 192.168.1.0/24 (The most common home network) to issue rpc commands to that daemon. Basically only use the wild card for your hosts and not network portion of your sub net mask. Understood... it's easy to get lazy.

Remove port=8101 Add rpcport=8101 Add rcpallowip=* Restart FeatherCoin Wait for it to catch up Solo mine with your parms above

I think it's a refreshing break from the roller coaster of late. Apparently quite a few people think so to -- or there wouldn't be almost 9K blocks gone

Do you think this coin is going anywhere?
After tomorrow? Probably not. Hey if all the GPU miners abandon it like they did so many other chains (including BBQcoin for many months) that will be great, this will be yet another chain that CPU miners can quietly mine month after month maybe before the GPU bullies catch on again and come backlike happened with BBQcoin and may yet happen with GeistGeld, Tenebrix, I0coin and so on... It is really nice to have coins most people ignore, as that gives all those people who keep complaining about GPUs and FPGAs and ASICs something they can mine, often for many months at a stretch. In a few years such coins will have huge population of holders who mined with with just their CPUs over the years quietly, under the radar... -MarkM- +1 +1 +1

So how many coins is everyone up to now? 40383.21089347 FC here with another 15 blocks waiting for confirmation.
90,000 Nice. How many Kh/s? I dumped 2.5MH/s on it as soon as I saw it come out in the forum. Unfortunately I was at work and didn't see it until about 2 hours ago. I've got 2.1Mh/s, so I think I'm doing ok. When I saw it I started solo mining and the block count was like 300 or so. Now it's over 8,000
