5321  Other / Politics & Society / Re: UC Berkeley student punished for not promoting LGBTQ lifestyle. on: November 21, 2018, 04:49:47 PM
This is a freedom of assembly issue, not a freedom of speech issue.

You make a valid point, and certainly one with which I wholly agree.  But, unfortunately that's not all there is to this story.  If so, it wouldn't have been a story in the first place.

Leading up to the meeting, the Daily Californian ran an editorial criticizing her, but when Chow offered her defense and a statement, the student newspaper refused to run it, and instead condemned her in an editorial calling for her to resign and accusing her of creating a “toxic space for LGBTQ+ communities.”

5322  Other / Politics & Society / UC Berkeley student punished for not promoting LGBTQ lifestyle. on: November 21, 2018, 03:48:26 PM
This UC Berkeley student politician was kicked out of her "Political Party" due to not accepting a clause in a certain bill brought before the student electorate.  By endorsing the bill she would have been forced to "promote LGBTQ lifestyles."  The trouble is, she's Christian and promoting that lifestyle goes against her core spiritual belief.

I'm not Christian, nor am I LGBT or Q, so I really don't have a dog in that aspect of the fight, except for this: I value the first amendment, and recognize that it also applies to those with whom I disagree.

So, my question is this: Are we on the brink of destroying the first amendment?  Is it acceptable to force people to endorse the philosophy of political correctness regardless of their personal beliefs?  Or am I taking this too seriously?  This is UC Berkeley, after all, where political correctness has run amuck for decades.

btw you have an 55 merit and you're still jr member lmfao

His 55 merits before he has enough activity to be a Member is something to be proud of.  He is obviously contributing to the forum, and I don't mean by doing "work" as you call it.  Wall posts of twitbook bounties, constantly quoting yourself to boost your post count, and bump shitcoin threads is not "work."  Your ban will indeed make the forum better.
5324  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Possible moisture issue on: November 16, 2018, 05:27:22 AM
..since some of the puddles are near the breaker panels.

That's risky, and should definitely be fixed.

I would want to know where the moisture is coming from.  If it's due to a damp environment then an industrial air conditioning system will dry the air as well as cool it.  The heat from miners should take of the rest.

But yes, long term exposure to moist air will tarnish the PCBs, and could eventually damage them.
5325  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos, help me, please! on: November 15, 2018, 11:49:49 PM

That looks like merit abuse.   adonay72 may or may not be your alt, but none the less the two accounts have obviously favored each other when spreading merit.

I spent a little time looking for plagiarism, and haven't found it yet...  (operative word: YET)

And as I was writing rickbig41 posts this:

Both are currencies. Bitcoin is a digital currency and other local currencies we are using is normal currency with which we can purchase or do anything we need. As bitcoins is a digital currency, we can only shop or do anything only online. We can shop around and do more things online. But with other local currencies, we can do more / lot where we live.

Few more posts and lets lock this thread...

Gonna be funny when Jacob Wohl sits behind bars for conspiracy to make fraudulent charges.

That knife cuts both ways, dude.

SNL hasn't been funny since Eddie Murphy left.  This is the first time I've even heard of Pete Davidson.  Just another nobody trying to make a name for himself...  As they say in Hollyweird; no publicity is bad publicity.

Ladies and gentlemen! I'm waiting for a response from the admins of the site. Leave your accusations to yourself. Do not judge and you not will be convicted. As if you're crystal clear people and you've never been wrong. Be care of yourself better and everyone will be happy.  Wink

You seem to be taking this rather personally...

All you can do is wait to get recover although the chance is very small.
Next time , you need to extra careful for your account and let this incident become your friend experience in the future if you still want exist on this forum

There will be no recovery, there will be no future.  The account owner is banned from using the forum, any alts she creates are subject to the ban regardless of whether she stops plagiarizing or not.  If any alt is found to be connected it too will be permabanned.

Does he even believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt?

His ex-wife has someone of a conflict of interest as if he cannot earn a living, she wont receive (as much) alimony. It also appears he is (has) going through a pretty nasty divorce, and if some of what has been said about what he did is true, I don't think it would be entirely unreasonable for a situation to escalate into DV.

No, certainly not when it's in his political interests and aspirations to deny someone their due process.  None the less, he's entitled to the same protections under the same law he would deny others.

I believe it is actually Los Angelos.

I believe you're correct, LA not Los Vegas.
5330  Other / Politics & Society / Re: #breaking Michael Avenatti arrested (report) on: November 15, 2018, 01:33:23 AM
Lets give him the benefit of the doubt, it's only alleged.  And his ex wive has come out in his defense, for what that's worth...

However, the Las Vegas sheriff's office has confirmed he's in the jail house now.

5331  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Peter W. Smith was murdered. on: November 14, 2018, 10:49:19 PM
He died in a Minnesota hotel room in 2017 in what authorities ruled a suicide at the age of 81, weeks after telling friends that he believed he had finally obtained the missing emails, according to a person familiar with the matter. His death came 10 days after describing his efforts to a reporter for the Journal.

Yeah, the GOP for sure...  Roll Eyes

We're old school HODLers here.  These drops have no effect on us anymore.  We were here when one btc could be exchanged for <100 federally backed tokens.  We'll still be here when one btc  doesn't need to be exchanged for federally backed tokens at all.  We'll just use them to buy things when all other currencies are worthless.  And if we want to do so secretly we'll atomically swap them for Monero first. Nothing to see here.  Carry on.

I wish I was as impervious as you seem to be.  Of course I'm new to crypto, and don't have the HODL stash that most of you have, and I didn't buy any of my stash below $6k.

However, the only regret I have today is that I blew my BTFD wad last week.   Roll Eyes

5334  Other / Meta / Re: $2.500,000 lost in bitcointalk.org abyss??? on: November 14, 2018, 01:55:28 AM
You need to consider that the value of those accounts might be partly affected by so many being abandoned.

In other words, if the abandoned accounts magically came back to life and started trying to monetize themselves by e.g. participating in sig campaigns then likely the revenue per account and subsequently the value of accounts would go down.

Of course... but the same would happen to lost bitcoins if someone found the way to get them back ;-)
(that's why I have compared accounts to btc)
And probably it would affect most lower ranked: Members and Full Members, 3 top ranks wouldn't hurt so much...

According to your chart the three top ranks make up more than 50% of the total.  Regardless of the projections of price and value, the folks who would buy these accounts would be attempting to gain an ROI by constantly attempting to monetize their account.  I think those who would buy an account are not interested in contributing to the forum in a constructive way, and would only contribute the spam, and possibly scams.

The value of those abandoned accounts is one thing, and value of the forum is another.

2048^21 is impossible.

If one had a super fast GPU/FPGA rig, say 600MH/S, and assuming one potential combination equals one hash, by my calculations it should take 1.823e+53 years.  I don't know how much value the OP had stored in the Trezor, but the cost of running that server for that long might not be a financially sound decision.  And then there's the pesky theory that the sun will swallow the earth in a mere 4 billion years.

Really disappointed I haven’t seen any Bruce Lee or Street Fighter edits of this video yet.

Here's the best I can do for you.

5338  Other / Meta / Re: Stake your Bitcoin address here on: November 09, 2018, 10:00:06 PM
Sorry, I just now understand how it works. In the first post I mistakenly indicated the address from the exchange. Now I specify my wallet with blockchain.com

1H2xqn3VT4RNt8yUCFat8kvrPg7Tg1SYCv

I'm quoting your address, but that's not really enough to prove you own it.  Check out the tutorial I've linked below.
If I had to pick a favorite web wallet BlockChain.com would be it, but it's a far cry from storing your own seed phrase and using Electrum or bitcoin core.  If you import a private key into BlockChain.com you can sign a message with it's associated public key.  But, like any web wallet it's a prime target for hackers.

5339  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Collusion is just a distraction. on: November 09, 2018, 06:54:36 PM
It's really disturbing that we're still arguing this subject.  It's obviously partisan in nature.  There has been zero evidence that Trump is being blackmailed by the Russians.  There has been zero evidence that Trump colluded with the Russians, and so what if he did?  ....

I don't care what political party you affiliate with, if you are here to solve problems I'll support you.  If all you want to do is distract from solutions, and obstruct progress then you are a part of the problem.

The problem with your attitude is you think like Trump. None of the Democrats have this point of view, and only a fraction of the Republicans. Most are simply concerned with getting and maintaining power, and actually doing useful things is in their view, a distraction.

I see your point, and won't attempt to refute it.  But even a lie that's obviously a lie is likely to be believed by those who will feel vindicated by it.  If you repeat the lie often enough some who're aren't biased may even start to believe it.
5340  Other / Meta / Re: Report plagiarism (copy/pasting) here. Calling for Mod action: please permban on: November 09, 2018, 04:39:30 PM
Bitcointalk really, really needs some sort of style guide, like an MLA Handbook specifically for bitcointalk--not necessarily as a standard of how to write posts, but at least a set of guidelines for citing sources when quoting material that's not your own.  Right now it's a hellish mixture of opinions as far as what constitutes proper citation and what constitutes plagiarism.

Here's a reasonably decent guide on how to cite a source:
