Juventus will be deducted 15 points because there has been tampering with transfer values of players. So the difference with Napoli is about 25 points. Difficult to catch up. This would also drop them to 11th place in the ranking. This will be a dramatic season for Juventus, who now have to do their best to secure qualification for the EL. They have made a big mess at the club, in every way. Financially but also from a sporting point of view. They have now also suffered serious image damage. Such things can also have consequences for players who now ultimately choose not to move to Juventus.
542  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 on: January 20, 2023, 09:00:46 PM
A pretty boring day today. Played an awful lot of draws, which is not uncommon. Carlsen couldn't achieve much with black against van Foreest and so the gap to the leader remains large. I wouldn't dare say who the absolute favorite is, since this field is so strong that everyone can win and lose against each other. Good preparation is half the work. There were also rumors that Firouzja would not participate because he could not agree on the negotiation of his participation money in the tournament. It's strange, as a chess player you want to keep playing against the absolute world top, don't you? Not participating due to a refusal of starting money can also damage your reputation.

Things are not good for Chelsea, but Dortmund is a pleasant opponent in that respect. And we must not forget the season in which Chelsea became champions of the CL. It wasn't all that special and good then, but they still made it to the final and also won it against City. That was surprising, but Chelsea have shown that they can go a long way with mediocre football. And the same goes for the season sometime around 2009 when they beat Bayern Munich in the final of and in Munich with a late equalizer from Drogba. The team from then cannot be compared to today, but it does show the possibilities. Dortmund can also use a success once in a while. They really haven't won anything internationally for a long time.

Bayern Munich took a 0-1 lead 10 minutes before the break. I can't watch the game right now, so I have no idea about the game image. Normally Bayern will control and dominate the game, but 0-1 is not a wide margin. If Bayern manage to win this game, we can write RB Leipzig off for any chances of the championship as the difference is no less than 9 points. A huge gap, while Bayern has also lost many points with 4 draws and a defeat. Bayer Leverkusen seems to me to be the disappointing team of the season at the moment. For Schalke04 it will be very hard work not to be relegated. At the very bottom, but the differences with the number 16 are not very big.
545  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Eredivisie 22/23 - discussion thread on: January 19, 2023, 09:01:40 PM
Feyenoord - Ajax is perhaps the decision to win the championship. If Feyenoord manages to win this match, Feyenoord will have a lead of no less than 8 points over Ajax. I don't see Ajax catching up on that lead any time soon. They should have lost against Twente last week as well. Ajax must ensure that they get rid of the trainer as quickly as possible, with him at the helm Ajax has never played so badly in the last 20 years. PSV also seems to miss the boat. I think it will be even more between AZ and Feyenoord. But if Ajax wins, then the difference is only 2 points and then everything is possible again. Twente is also a team that plays very well and they are also at a bridgeable distance from the leader. Perhaps the most exciting competition in the Netherlands in years.

Ronaldo seems to be having a good time in Saudi Arabia. Today there was a practice match between his team and PSG, played in Saudi Arabia. And PSG won 5-4, but that was actually background information. PSV has now also lost Madueke to Chelsea. Maybe Simons can get a basic place now? That was one of the greatest talents to ever walk around at Barcelona, but seems to have been sidelined. This makes it difficult for PSV to compete for the championship. Daley Blind has also spoken out about the things that have happened in the dressing room between him and coach Schreuder. I think it's time for Schreuder to leave as well. He has made a big mess at Ajax, and the transfer policy is also very bad. The whole club collapsed after Overmars and Ten Hag left.

Ding Liren's defeat is probably even more surprising than Carlsen's defeat - after all, Carlsen gave up the chess crown, and Ding Liren will take part in the match for it. I think no matter how much Carlsen deceives himself that by giving up the crown he will be able to continue to dominate as he used to in regular tournaments, this is not true. When an athlete loses motivation, it affects the results in all tournaments. Perhaps Carlsen is already on his way out of the top 1.

And what a way to end it, if ever. It would be best if he gets that 2900 rating first before he calls it quits. He's still got a lot of time ahead of him, and he's obviously getting even better as time passes. Sadly, if you stay too long at the top and can't meet someone who's worthy of being serious, you'll eventually lose the drive to continue doing what you do best and I guess that's what's happening with Magnus now. But yeah, I'm still hoping that he reaches the elusive 2900 before he quits chess for good, otherwise it will be a long climb for Ding Liren before he gets that rating.

Considering that only two chess players currently have ratings above 2800 (one of which is Carlsen himself), the task of scoring 2900 looks unrealistic. Even when he announced this goal of his, some grandmasters said that it was impossible. Since then, it seems that Carlsen did not play better, but vice versa. I think that this task will be submitted to the next generation of players, including Firuja, Gukesh, Eregaysi, etc. simply due to inflation (albeit slow) rating.

2900 may be a rating that man will never reach. If he plays a bad tournament, he has to win 2 tournaments somewhere to compensate for the lost points. I think Kasparov had a rating of 2854 at his best ever. Carlsen once hit 2900. Maybe this whole Niemann thing has started to piss him off after all. That is something that is in the back of your mind and people everywhere naturally want to ask questions about it. It makes a difference that Niemann was not invited. Ding Liren is also a player above the 2800 rating, but at the moment he has not been able to show anything spectacular. Carlsen will have to show why he is the world champion and will have to win a few games in a row. However, this tournament is heavily occupied, so there are no easy victories here.

There is still no goal in the game but Manchester City are keeping their superiority at least. They have made quite many goal attempts so far. It feels like the goal is almost upon us. But the first half is about to end and it looks like the score will be a draw at the end of the half. But the second half can be much different than this hopefully. Otherwise it will be a really boring game while there is no goal.

While I was making the post Tottenham scored first very surprisingly.  Cheesy  It is like we are back to the previous season now where Tottenham beat them here by 3-2. I wonder if this game will also end up with a similar result. Or maybe this goal will trigger Manchester City to make a comeback and win.

EDIT: Another goal by Tottenham and it is 2-0 now.  Cheesy  Unbelievable! What is going on with Manchester City?

manchester City - Tottenham Hotspur 0-2 and that will most likely also be the halftime score. Lots of work to do for City in the 2nd half. Can they actually reverse this? It is clear that City had not started the 2nd half of the season well, but they should not lose to Tottenham at home. City rivals United will be relieved if City lose this match, so that there is plenty of scope for 2nd place and possibly the title. Arsenal can take a big step towards the championship this weekend as both teams from Manchester are losing points. I don't see City winning this game anymore, even a draw is not going to happen.

Yea unbelievable by Murray, that was a 5 hour 45 minute match, a bit of a marathon really.
Murray's next match against Roberto Bautista Agut has to be compromised now for sure,
how much does he have left? is a big question.

Did anyone pick up any decent odds on Djokovic today after he dropped the second set
tie break against Couacaud today?

On the WTA side Ons got beaten today by Vondrousova kind of easy enough, 6-1, 5-7, 6-1
Betting on the women's side really is tricky.

I've been following this game for a long time. It was still a miracle that Djokovic lost the 2nd set, as he also led 5-4 in the Tiebreak, but then lost 2 serves in a row. If you want to know the odds when it was 1-1 in sets, I think you would get something around 1.1 for a Djokovic win. That's all it will be. From that moment on, Djokovic was very strong again and he only lost 2 more games. the 7-6 tiebreak thus seemed to be something of an incident. There are a lot of parties going on every day. I also read that a number of matches had been moved due to rain. I always thought it was sunny there and great tennis weather? No Wimbledon rain anyway.

If Barcelona plays the same way against United in the match against Madrid, then United will have a very difficult time. Both teams seem to be doing well. Perhaps this will be the most anticipated match, perhaps even more than the PSG - Munich match in the CL. But Barcelona will have to become consistent. United have a great coach at the moment, his results speak for themselves and he will also come up with a brilliant battle plan in the game against Barcelona. In Barcelona and United, they both expect to continue. The last 3 matches between Man United and Barcelona were all 3 won by Barcelona, but the last match was in 2019. Difficult to compare. In addition, played Messi and Iniesta? then also with Barcelona.

Next season there will be 1 less race because the Chinese Grand Prix has been cancelled. It's not clear to me what the exact cause is. It could have to do with China's current position in the war against Russia. It won't make much difference to the course of the competition. I personally think the points that can be achieved in the sprint races are nonsense. They never did that in F1 and last season it suddenly had to be introduced with all force. The drivers are not happy about it either. Your tires will also break down sooner if you put everything on it. I would like it if Hamilton gets a good car at Mercedes.

AC Milan - Inter is now 0-2. Still a lot possible and we must not forget that this is only a competition for the super cup. I think both teams give the least priority there of all active competitions. The differences in the competition are minimal between these 2 teams. Sampdoria is now in 19th place after the defeat two days ago. It seems that they are really going to get into serious trouble this season with regard to relegation. Players like Ruud Gullit will surely feel pain when they see this happen. The last teams in the competition are already at a great distance from the number 7. That is already difficult enough to catch up with.

Btw is the game from the Supercup the final?

I have only now seen the summary and certain analyzes of the Real Madrid - Barcelona match. I must say that I am very impressed with Barcelona's game. They are a bit like Barcelona in the time of Xavi and Iniesta. Maybe it was incidental, but it certainly gives confidence. Real Madrid is actually completely outplayed. At times it seemed like a machine that Barcelona showed. And fun for the fans to see. The only strange thing is that this match was not played in Spain but in the Middle East. If Barcelona continues to play like this, they are the absolute favorites to win the league. But maybe it was incidental what they showed.

Another rumor for F1
The intent for the next season is to reduce the usage of tires.
They want to give fewer tires to drivers over the weekend.

And a change in the usage of tires.

The intention is to change the qualify with 3 the normal session but.

Q1 must be with the hard compound
Q2 must be with the medium compound
Q3 must be with the soft compound

That could have a big impact on the drivers and also on the strategy. So at some point you have to use a different strategy to be able to use your tires more economically. You could then drive much less fast during training, for example. But you also have a circuit that is longer than the other one and that you therefore need several pit stops. With few tires, that becomes difficult. So you can no longer drive if your tires are really worn out. I also don't know how it is that F1 wants to make this decision? They can expect considerable opposition if this measure is actually introduced.

The Australian Open starts tomorrow. Nice that there are a lot of matches in the first round. The differences in strength are not as great in a number of competitions as is the case in other sports. Often you have about the number 30 against the number 65 in the world. On paper, that could easily fall in the direction of the underdog. Only the top 10 in the world usually wins their matches quite easily in the first round because they really are an elite group of tennis players. Djokovic visibly enjoys the presence of him and his many supporters. He is still very popular, despite his attitude about the Corona Virus. Fortunately for him, that virus is now far behind us, otherwise he would still not have been able to play this tournament because he refuses to get vaccinated.

Feyenoord is clearly the best in its field at the moment. Ajax and PSV have fallen very far after the start of the season. I also find it inconceivable that Alfred Schreuder can continue to fulfill his position within this team. AZ could also play a significant role in the battle for the championship. Twente is actually a miracle; a few years ago they were close to bankruptcy and were relegation candidates every season. Serouki is one of the greatest talents at the moment. Feyenoord would like to have him there, but Twente (understandably) does not want to let him go yet. That doesn't seem like a good plan halfway through the competition, moreover you make a title competitor stronger through your own player. For the time being I will stick to Feyenoord as the first title candidate.

Nice to see that a new gambling site has arrived on the forum. Always nice to see how things develop within the site. There have already been several questions about this, but here too the biggest problems seem to me to be the KYC and the payment. Fortunately, payouts are not advertised as being instant because no one has that. Many other gambling sites only do that to win customers, but many gamblers must know better these days. I don't know how high the betting limits are on this site, but as a newcomer it's important to fold your reputation and make sure there are no issues with customer payouts in any case. Then success will come naturally.

If the story is actually true, then that's a fantastic result for the player. Still, I think this is purely about advertising he wants to make for the sportsbet site.
Why would someone post how much money they won on a gambling site? If I had won that much, I would prefer to keep it to myself. I certainly wouldn't want other people to find out that I would have won that much money. You can only risk it that way. Well, maybe people think differently. 1.4 million is a lot of money, by the way. Will gambling sites actually pay that to players?

An important challenge for Rennis today in the home game against PSG. They don't always take the games seriously lately, which could offer opportunities for the home team. They are also in 5th place which would qualify them for the Confrerence League. Teams are not waiting for that, but the top 4 seems quite far away, even though the difference in points is not that great. Lens is doing remarkably well this season. The champion of a few seasons ago, OSC Lille, is in a disappointing 6th place. I do wonder in what context PSG suddenly became so strong. Did that era begin when Ibrahimovic joined this club? Before that it was actually hardly a strong club and I don't think they could even qualify for the CL.

Manchester United together with Arsenal are the best teams at the moment. I think Juventus actually have quite little chance if they had to play a two camp against 1 of these teams. You only have to deal with the draw of Barcelona - Manchester United. Still one of the favorites for the title. I find it quite difficult to make a good estimate of this. Barcelona is no longer the Barcelona of a few years ago, but the same can be said of Manchester United. Still, United are better off than Barcelona at the moment. United beat City last weekend. It will be an interesting showdown that could go either way. Arsenal will be watching this match with rubbing hands as 1 title competitor will be eliminated anyway. And what should we think about Ajax and Sevilla? Both are in horrible shape.
