541  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: March 19, 2018, 02:54:44 PM
The actual distribution product airdrop was one of the secrets towards towards the success of the coin.

it had to end at some point. they could've ended it in a more professional manner than they have.

distribution certainly excites people but it also becomes a burden, a crutch and it's something that needs to be treated like a cauterization - get it done, do it well and do it comprehensively.

this uncertainty sucks and the project won't move as far as it deserves until people know where it stands on this.
542  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Holding is bullshit? on: March 19, 2018, 02:43:01 PM
it sounds like you chose some really crappy coins. don't blame the strategy, blame your terrible judgment.

i would never long term hold a coin that didn't have significant momentum. 50c ethereum or 25c monero was a no brainer. that's what you could've paid in 2015 for them. they had the lead in their respective areas and good teams. that makes them a hold.

you might get lucky with a pump out of nowhere but the lower down coinmarketcap you go the more likely your hold will turn to dust.

543  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Cardano (ADA) overvalued or undervalued? on: March 19, 2018, 02:37:18 PM
In the real world companies generating hundreds of millions in income a year are not valued at over a billion. Put that into perspective for a second

hey, people don't wanna hear things like that. stuff like this will be looked back on and people will shake their head in wonder when the smoke has cleared.

even fully working and long established projects have basically neither proven nor delivered a product that has any real world usage yet.

how a project that doesn't even exist got above zero says how ridiculous the crypto space still is. there's a long way to go still.
544  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why did people get involved in bitconnect? on: March 18, 2018, 04:51:52 PM
9.9 times out of 10 people know perfectly well what they're exposing themselves to deep down, they just refuse to acknowledge it to themselves and believe bad things will happen to other people. It was as textbook a ponzi as humanly possible, so much so it was almost like satire.
545  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DeepOnion Price Discussion at the end of airdrop on: March 17, 2018, 09:19:55 PM
i don't think the coin really matters, if any coin bases the excitement around it from ongoing airdrops then the ass will fall out of it when it ends.

byteball has already discovered this. bitcore is probably next.

developers need something tasty up their sleeve to stave that off. i hope the deeponion people do.
546  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How many defective miners have u receive from bitmain on: March 17, 2018, 08:35:46 PM
well maybe with enough of votes and awarness a real evidence (and not just a guess or words) we can set up a class lawsuit. maybe its sounds funny to u. but think about all the ppl who bought
miners from them.
this is disgusting , and me personal i hate monopolize . and this is exactly what they are doing.

i think this pool will be a reflect this issue ..

nothing funny about it. it's completely logical. they pretty much have a monopoly and they've repeatedly proven they'll happily abuse it. most other organisations would do the same but maybe their PR would be a little better.

this is still the goldrush phase. no one cares about anyone else. they're all fighting to gain the high ground and stay there.

if people don't like the game then they shouldn't play it because the rules ain't changing any time soon.
547  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / coincheck to renounce privacy coin trading - the start of something wider? on: March 17, 2018, 06:23:19 PM
https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2018/03/17/business/coincheck-stop-handling-three-virtual-currencies-give-owners-anonymity/#.Wq1DOBPwbWY

coincheck is of course a bunch of assholes for leaving themselves wide open to a hack and they're gonna go all out to get regulators off their back in future, but i was wondering whether more exchanges might give up the trading of coins like monero and zcash with anonymity baked in to preempt regulators.

i kind of get the feeling that most authorities are so far behind in knowing the ins and outs of crypto that they haven't turned their attentions to this area yet. when they do they're gonna have kittens.

by that point atomic swaps with monero at least will be in place so exchanges won't be all that necessary but can you imagine them explicitly coming down on privacy coins or will they not bother to make the separation?
548  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are we now in a time of total uncertainty on: March 17, 2018, 01:51:57 PM
from reading everyone's thoughts at the moment it really looks like everyone's searching for a trend to latch on to. no one likes flux very much. i think it'll take a decisive move by someone and then momentum will build as everyone breathes a sigh of relief and goes with it. even if people don't like the idea of going down, a violent move would at least test some resolve and initiate some buying.
549  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How many defective miners have u receive from bitmain on: March 16, 2018, 10:36:10 PM
surely every miner the little people buy from bitmain is second hand. why would they let brand new stuff out of the door without milking it as much as possible beforehand? who knows how hard they've been ragged before they arrived at your door.

they are not your buddies. they know there's a buyer for every one they release no matter what they wind up with.

550  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best projects on Cryptopia? on: March 16, 2018, 10:12:05 PM
i've often wondered how cryptopia got so big when it lists an absolute mountain of shit.

and volumes on everything are tiny. they claim they fell apart because they got over a million users, yet even the biggest coins rarely go above more than a few tens of bitcoins per day. did this million people join as a spectator sport?
551  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XBY] XtraBYtes Speculation on: March 15, 2018, 11:06:23 PM
wow. i'm an alt? cool. i'll look forward to someone else taking over my mind and dealing with all my problems in future. i'm sitting here with my eyes rolled back in my head waiting for that personality infusion.
552  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-03-15] S Korean exchanges raided for stealing customer funds on: March 15, 2018, 07:39:36 PM
http://english.chosun.com/site/data/html_dir/2018/03/15/2018031500890.html

exchange employees are suspected of helping themselves to customer funds and buying crypto elsewhere.

remind me again how the south korean government allowed an entire industry to spring up without one single piece of oversight, regulation or taxation?

seeing how this has developed in south korea i really wonder how shoddily the rest of the country is run.
553  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Must remain grateful... on: March 15, 2018, 05:16:22 PM
everyone's attitude is colored by the timing of their entry into bitcoin. got in during 2012? nothing will phase you by now, but there might've been some time underwater then as well and the whole thing seem much more fragile back then. even during 2014/15 it was possible to believe that bitcoin would fade away as interest was so low.

if you got in at 20 grand, well you should kind of noticed that mania was peaking, but you should also have been prepared for a long haul. bitcoin can be a very ruthless thing and nothing is promised to anyone. but there's also more history to draw on every day and more cool stuff happening as well.

it's up to them to look beyond short term downers start building some real belief. if they bail then someone else will pick up the ball who has more belief.
554  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ripple and XRP are partnering with many banks, why does the price keep falling. on: March 15, 2018, 05:07:24 PM
when will people wrap their heads around the idea of big business using the tech, not the publicly available coin?

it's gonna be the same for ethereum in many cases and plenty of other systems too. they're not in the business of trusting in things completely beyond their control. they are interested in licencing the code for their own purposes.

even if they did show an interest in xrp, they know perfectly well the foundation still controls billions of them, let alone how crooked the rest of the markets are. why the hell would you willingly expose yourself to that?
555  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-03-12] Lightning Network Mainnet Passes 1000 Nodes As Release `Nears’ on: March 14, 2018, 11:50:58 PM
You have pointed out some things that i haven't thought of yet. Thanks.

The implementation of LN could in fact mean death of a lot coins.

it won't make the slightest difference. no one is actually using almost all of these coins for anything. it's not about transaction speed or capacity.

all those coins exist for one purpose only - take more bitcoin or dollars. there's no way anyone will give up pumping them and there's no way dreamers will stop believing that the freshest shitcoin is the 'bitcoin killer'. for better or worse they're here to stay.

556  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-03-12] Lightning Network Mainnet Passes 1000 Nodes As Release `Nears’ on: March 14, 2018, 11:28:35 PM
I have no illusions about the lightning system. It will not solve the transaction problem. It seems to me that there is no need to increase bandwidth. It is necessary to change the system of confirmation of transactions. If the popularity of bitcoin will grow then lightning will not help. The number of transactions can increase by several orders of magnitude.

has it occurred to you that something like the lightning networks will open up a universe of new use cases? it's not all about vanilla transactions. something like this could create a ton of brand new ones.

and we don't know how these upper layers will be implemented yet. it's possible if you go through coinbase you spend all of your time in a lightning network and never transact on the main chain at all. it's still bitcoin.
557  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XBY] XtraBYtes Speculation on: March 14, 2018, 10:07:00 PM
Please read this mcworse

writing and quoting the same post over and over and over again does not make you look credible. it makes you look like really, really amateurish fudster, kinda toddler level, not even playground. and backing things up with similarly no mark accounts ain't gonna convince anyone either.

it'll all come out in the wash. even if it's a total scam, and there's nothing definitive about that, there'll still be movements where money can be made. and anyway no one should be married to any 'investment'.
558  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Recovery Request if possible - BTC - 50% offer on: March 14, 2018, 09:50:50 PM
what do you have that people can work on? from what i can glean you overwrote anything to do with the wallet, the disk then died and then the dead disk was stolen several years ago?

uh, beyond consulting a psychic, or god, it's time to let go.

it sounds like you might know the address and have absolutely nothing else. if it was possible to get anything out of an address this forum wouldn't exist because bitcoin and all crypto would've died many years ago.
559  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bcash to 20,000$ end of 2018 on: March 14, 2018, 09:45:48 PM
whether we like it or not, bcash is getting some very sturdy foundations laid.

i can't believe previously respectable companies like bitpay and coinbase have chosen to get in bed with a piece of shit fork with one miner that relies on fooling people to succeed but perhaps i shouldn't be surprised.

it would be doubly insulting if it went far beyond litecoin, a coin that had an honest launch, does a better job, isn't out to con anyone and is led by a man who is neither a psychopath, liar or criminal.

560  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-03-13] Goldman Bitcoin 'Has Potential' To Drop Below February Low 5900$ on: March 14, 2018, 09:35:31 PM
i distinctly remember goldman sachs's predictions petering out long before the ultra bull run so i'm not very inclined to listen to them any more. however this prediction seems realistic. the enthusiasm is draining away. we might be in for a boring year.
