541  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption ends on 29 November[Updates&Discussion] on: December 05, 2014, 09:20:35 AM
I use Ubuntu Linux.
I tried to install NEM java client, it doesn't start. I finished the phase 1 of the redemption process, I can't finish the phase 2. The instruction for Linux on java.com are not for Ubuntu.

I'm scared I lost my NEMstake. Help!

Edit: to clarify: My name doesn't appear here; https://chain.nem.ninja/stakes/registered
Java is installed on my machine and I have two accounts:
http://127.0.0.1:8989/ncc/web/dashboard.html?wallet=davidlatapie&account=XXXXXXXXXXX
http://127.0.0.1:8989/ncc/web/dashboard.html?wallet=David%20Latapie&account=XXXXXXXX

The instructions for Linu on java.com should work for any linux distribution but if you're not comfortable with installing without package manager then maybe this will help http://tecadmin.net/install-oracle-java-8-jdk-8-ubuntu-via-ppa/ (should work for ubuntu as well not only for mint)
Thanks. I managed to make it run but no luck:
My name doesn't appear here; https://chain.nem.ninja/stakes/registered
Java is installed on my machine and I have two accounts both with 0.00 NEM (one should have 1 NEM, I believe):
http://127.0.0.1:8989/ncc/web/dashboard.html?wallet=davidlatapie&account=XXXXXXXXXXX
http://127.0.0.1:8989/ncc/web/dashboard.html?wallet=David%20Latapie&account=XXXXXXXX

I need further help in getting my NEM. Thank you.

Update: it seems that just because your redemption process is overly complex, I will lose some NEM. Awesome Sad

Regarding someone to handle a social media outlet, I'd be down to do just that. Sending you a PM david.
Effective yesterday, mtwelve is handling Twitter. Donations are welcomed to set up at twitter tipbot as well as a Project: Giveway for Twitter.
I started to hit hthe wall with 2400. Moving to a mix of 2300 2200 2100 2000. Expect difficulty to rise up accordingly, since other will follow my new blocksizing.

The Company of Theophany did well and produced some more page of Codex Cryptonica
  • Nobility recapitulate the various titles and way to address the nobility.
  • Clergy. This later entry contains some interesting rumours as well a non exhaustive list of title and how to properly address a member of the Clergy. The Church wishes to thank the Most Honorary Marquess Karl Hungus for his precious help

The correct way to refer to the person Karl Hungus by birth, is now The Marquess of OZ.
I will update my post. Could you als check this newly-created page?

For the roleplaying folks (like me) here, this page shall be of help: Forms of address in the United Kingdom.
For instance, Bishop is "My Lord", "Your Grace" being for Archbishop.
Crypto-Kingdom is not UK, but this is a nice starting point.

2) You may purchase a limited amount of shares directly (this increases total # of shares floating) based on the level you attain.
Any levels attained prior to 1500 may also be added to new promotion purchases on the first time purchase
Code:
L8 - Knight  1 Share
L9           2 Shares
L10          4 Shares
L11          8 Shares
L12         16 Shares
L13         32 Shares
d'Armagnac will buy 4 shares directly.

I'm trying to wrap my brain around the social-cultural implications of this... is it like a hugely complex game of monopoly played with might-be-valuable someday money (monero) with RP starting with all the properties (justifies since he is footing the bill for the game mechanics)?
FAQ - What's the overall goal?
Right now it is mostly land grab and building. Later more social interactions (including politics, quests, joint-ventures) and gaming (as in winning moneroj) as well as faucets... But ultimately, the answer to "What's the overall goal?" is "What is the purpose of life?"
When explaining here to my friends at my store i simply say "Think on an Ultima Online/Civilization/Sims game but using cryptos and crowdfunding/collaboration". The Habbo hotel analogy is also there.
FAQ - What is CryptoKingdom? Is there any relation to some ancient game?

I remind you all that the FAQ is freely editable (if you create an account on wikia, you IP won't be displayed and your contributions will be identified, thus more reputable).

I tried to provide an useful comparison/explanation on the state of anon coins. I hope you'll have as much pleasure reading as I had writing it.

U guys should be trying to compare Monero to DogeCoinDark not DarkCoin AnonCoin or ShadowCash.
Did you read the question I replied to?
I got some time to read more about Cryptonote and its origins and oh boy what a rollercoster... I can't the math but the concept seems superior to Bitcoin if "e-cash" is the goal.
I market it as "true electronic cash" (Bitcoin being "fake electronic cash" although I never dub Bitcoin this, PR-wise it would be terrible).
Why true electronic cash? Because cash in its ideal form (coins, not banknotes) has no way of being traced. No tracking like debit card/Bitcoin, no serial numbers like banknotes... Because Thank to this, as binaryFate mentions it, Monero's fungibility is higher than Bitcoin (fungibility: lack of way to tell one unit from another - dioxygen is fungible, for instance). Monero is even more fungible than coins, actually (DNA traces on coins, not on Monero) Smiley
(the last sentence, albeit true, is tongue-in-cheek)

I ask readers to embrace newcomers with patience. Put yourself in the position of one who never followed altcoins and never wanted anything to do with altcoins. Learning about the Cryptonote family alone and its long, varied history is almost overwhelming.

it's all well and good to sit at your computer and complain about the current sidewards waves but as has been said you have three options, sell and move on or buy some more or start actively promoting the plus points of the coin rather than pointing out a low point in the price.
Let's be more positive, the current wording is not good for the community Smiley

"Better to light up a candle than to curse the darkness". We have several projects waiting for more hands. Granted, several of them are code-related but not all! We need someone for Twitter, for Reddit, for Facebook. cycoinminer doesn't code, he manages project giveaway. Me, I do not code. HyperJobs needs more contacts, and there are connection to handle with volunteers. Website would need someone to maintain in and publish news, wikia would benefit from more tutorial, the stake-and-chash needs more hands, localising the wallet is possible with any non English natives, we are still looking for more tipbots for social networks, statistices to analyse (HyperStats, like Gini ranking), announcing HyperSanta (although El_Kabong should be the one doing it)... There are lot of ways to help.

And remember the OP:
HyperStake also aims to redesign the fundamentals of proof of stake

Well said okae! Congrats for your HYP and thanks for your move - for the record, okae contacted me first about not having enough for staking so credit goes to him.

Since he is the first one to have done it I award him 500 more HYP!

557  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / HyperLoan round 6 - winners on: December 02, 2014, 12:03:42 AM
This is Monday, this is HyperLoan time

Winners are:

Why some +x did not win? Because they either did not give me their address and in one case because the candidate did not keep a promise.

What you, as a winner (not just a candidate) will have to do:
1. If not already done, create a dedicated address in your wallet and post it on the forum, so that anyone can track the progress. If you don't know how to do so, just ask on the forum Smiley
2 Once you have received the 4K HYP, you will start posting on HyperLoan logs about your feedback. It can be just one posts several posts tracking your increasing understanding of HyperStake, questions... and of course, everyone can post there too.
3. At the end of the 30 days, you will send the principal (4K) back to the originating address pHypLoanFPWT6awN1TYRQ4v3wD3yY1n8KT (courtesy of iDunk).

Happy loaning, happy stacking!

Given that I'm no expert in Monero, I'm not qualified to update its Wikipedia entry:

Wikipedia on CryptoNote

Anyone?
Great work, indeed. I made some modifications.

Big thanks for this excellent FAQ and CryptoKingdom summary. You have fully answered my questions :-) and I believe the answers give a very good impression on the game.

Eventually, the survey even made me interested in trying out the game --- probably around Xmas ...
Glad it helped. I will post it then. Soon.

Omg I'm so dumb , I did not know that it was a link, Thanks for the pointer . I was so worried . Anyway why does block explorer say address not found?
Because no transaction (in or out) ever happened. This is completely normal behaviour and once you'll receive the HYP, the address will appear.
