Guys......I have been trying to be polite and let this thing burn out on its own but that doesn't seem to be happening.

Can we keep this thread focused on Bitcoin-Brokers please?

Thanks.

Apologies, was just trying to warn people of risk involved with SEPA. I will step away. Regards.

Thanks.  Wink

No one is going to sell for basically 40% off of what they can sell to an exchange for, cash or no cash.

If you want to sell 20k worth of bitcoins in mt.gox, the price will basically drops far more than 40%. Roll Eyes

I thought the going rate was buy 2 get 1 for free?  Roll Eyes
564  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Guide to buying bitcoins anonymously? on: August 23, 2013, 05:05:19 PM
Subject says it all. Trying to get a walk-through or a quick explanation on how-to safely buy BTC anonymously. Do you make new  wallet address? If I transfer funds from my bank account to an exchange won't that leave a trail back to me?

Thanks in advance for the help.

The first thing you will need to do though before buying your bitcoins is to choose what type of wallet you want to use. Bitcoin.org has its own wallet which is called Bitcoin-QT. I wouldn't suggest going with this option because the first time you load the client it will require approximately a 24 hour syncing time where the wallet needs to sync up with the entire bitcoin network and essentially download a copy of every transaction that has ever occurred on the network. Its a great wallet, but not very user friendly.

Instead, I would suggest that you look at the wallet offered by Blockchain.info. It is a free wallet, it is web-based which means that you do not need to wait the 24 hour waiting time to sync up with the network. The user interface is much more pleasing to the eye. I use that one and so do most people nowadays. There is lots of info on both these wallets if you just do a quick search around the Reddit forums or the Bitcointalk.org forums.

Once you have your wallet you need to buy the bitcoins.

Bitcoin-Brokers is set up so that you can walk into any major bank in the USA such as Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Chase, PNC, Citibank, Capital One and make a cash deposit into an account.

You do not need an account at the bank. No ID, no sign ups.

565  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Okay... WTF is a fair price right now? on: August 23, 2013, 04:27:00 PM
i dont wanna here this what ever someone is willing to pay shit. I know that is the real price,  but the standard?
Too bad. It's worth whatever someone is selling/buying it for. Same goes for the value of the USD, and any other currency or good. There is no "standard".

I agree.

Simultaneously, around the world, people are all paying different prices for their bitcoin.

It is worth whatever somebody is willing to pay for it, at that time.

Somebody with a verified Coinbase account sees one price as "market pricing". Simultaneously, somebody without their own bank account to tie to Coinbase thinks paying 7% above MtGox on Localbitcoins.com is "market price".

567  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: First Franchised Venue to Accept Bitcoins? (Blenz) [update] on: August 23, 2013, 03:34:18 PM
We are proud to announce that we have spread Bitcoin to a Blenz in downtown Vancouver. As far as we know, this is the first franchised venue to do so. Maybe it's just the first one in Canada or in our area; please correct us if we are wrong. We will be having meetings and semi-professional (networking, activities, presentations) Meet Ups here from now on. To learn more, see our post about it on the Bitcoin Cooperative Facbeook page, where we attempt to spread the Bitcoin movement: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=439490966149749

Good for you guys!

When I lived in Yaletown I used to go to Blenz everyday at Helmcken and Hamilton. Does Matt still own that location? You should tell him to get on it as well.
We'll go find out; thanks for the tip. Will update with photos if we find Matt and he's into it

He is a great guy. Very down to Earth. Good luck.

571  Economy / Economics / Re: Investing in Bitcoin on: August 22, 2013, 01:43:39 AM
I have recently heard of bitcoin and decided to do a ton of research about it. Investing in bitcoin does seem to be enticing due to the ever growing issues with our current economy.  I'm from Canada and is going through the verification process for Mt. Gox. During this time I want to see what people would recommend in investing and how people reaping the benefits from it. What to do and what not to do! Also if digital currency does become the way we do business online how does the value of bitcoin translate to other digital currencies in the future. Would this have a negative affect?

Thanks!

-Jeev

Instead of waiting on MtGox, you could walk into any TD Canada Trust and buy bitcoin tomorrow when the banks open with Bitcoin-Brokers.

The rates are higher than what you wanted. The bitcoin are sold at current MtGox rates...not a discount to MtGox.

You may need to re-think that business model.  More and more people are switching to BitStamp, BTC-E, or CampBX as a basis for pricing.  MtGox market share of the exchange business is quickly shrinking, and I think they may no longer have more than 50%.  Their USD prices are artificially inflated due to the difficulties in withdrawing to the US.

I disagree, but thanks-a-million for the business advice.

MtGox is THE price used in this industry.

Why would anybody suddenly decide to de-value their bitcoin?

I know I am not going to, and I doubt any of my clients would do so either.

10 BTC would be a typical sized transaction which www.Bitcoin-Brokers.org handles every day. So this would be easy when you are ready.
