561  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Rodriguez vs Lopez - vacant IBF bantamweight (Aug. 13) on: August 11, 2023, 01:26:35 PM
Hopefully though, whoever wins this fight, will give a crack at Gaballo first before going in another unification fight with other champion.

Yeah I hope so and it is interesting to note that Rodriguez lost to Gaballo via split decision in the year 2020 so maybe the promoter avoid Gaballo as the latter has his numbers the last time around.

Lopez is on a winning streak so i think throwing a few dollars to back him is worthy enough because of that attractive odds.

Hopefully, we can see Gaballo winning this IBF belt very soon.
562  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Oscar Valdez vs Emmanuel Navarette - Aug 12 on: August 11, 2023, 01:02:10 PM
But I am voting based on who I'd like to win. Grin I got Navarette stopping Valdez. I believe we haven't seen yet what this new champion can do in this division. He had a bad night in his last fight so he will enter this fight better. I believe he is the stronger guy so he will be the aggressor here. And I'm pretty sure they already know what happened to Miguel Berchelt against Valdez so Navarette will be a little smart with his aggression here and will finally catch Valdez in the mid to late rounds.

Wow, i like your prediction brother, opposite to what i have in my mind. I have Valdez to win by knockout here because no matter what Navarette will do to avoid those bombs, somewhere in the late rounds he will be tired and Valdez will hit him hard and KOed him but i like what you said that Navarette will be a little smarter here to avoid the fate that Berchelt have suffered but i don't think Navarette could hide the full twelve rounds or it may be the other way around, let's see.  Grin
563  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Oscar Valdez vs Emmanuel Navarette - Aug 12 on: August 10, 2023, 12:31:04 PM
If you believe in Valdez to win, might as well bet on him winning by KO. As per the present odds, it's very attractive at +440.

Already did but the odds is a little bit lower on our local bookies but doesn't matter to me because that 4.80 odds is still a very juicy odds considering that Valdez has a higher chance to win by knockout. Just wonder though why bookies have speculated that this will go the distance even though Navarette was almost KOed in his last fight.

564  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - November on: August 10, 2023, 12:02:38 PM
Inoue may possess more talent than Pacman, but it appears that Inoue is less inclined to take risks compared to Pacman. Whenever Pacman moved up to a heavier division, he consistently faced the best opponents, and there were no concerns about the purse he would receive. On the other hand, Inoue's camp seems to view him as exceptional, even though he is currently a 4-division champion. When we consider Pacman's achievements, Inoue is only halfway towards reaching that level. Consequently, he should act swiftly and engage in more fights to make further progress.

Agree with you that Inoue doesn't take risks, all of his fight seems to be in favor of him and most of them travel to Japan to fight him instead of him going to Vegas to fight in the boxing Mecca. Personally, I don't think that he would be a 5-division champion without the interference of Uncle Bob, i mean just like Pacquaio when he fought Dela Hoya, Cotto, and Margarito, they were all in a catchweight. So for Inoue to fight the bigger champs at 126lbs, Top Rank must negotiate for a catchweight to offset the size of Inoue.

But before that, Tapales should be given the right amount for Inoue to achieve his goal in this division.
565  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: August 10, 2023, 06:27:28 AM
Have you guys read the article from Spin.Ph which said that the PBA is planning to expand and per report they could go as high as 16 teams, but what about those franchise that were rumored that were up for sale hehe. On the other hand this news is music to the ears to those players who were displaced every year because of rookie drafting and good news also for those kids that wanting to be part of the PBA someday.

Or maybe the PBA have felt the effect of MPBL unto them that is why this plan was conceived.

568  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - November on: August 09, 2023, 10:15:36 AM
I believe too that it will be the case if ever the undisputed discussion between Tapales and Inoue will be prolonged or will be dragged for quite a couple of months before they can make a deal. Now if that happens, sanctioning bodies might be inclined to give both of them a mandatory title defense fight so that they won't be holding those belts for no reasons and of course so that these bodies will have their cut and make their pocket fat, you know, business as usual.

I doubt that the camp of Inoue will allow that scenario (mandatory fights) since their guy is very vocal that he wants to be a unified champion of this division and the hurdle is not that big, I mean they can pay Team Tapales whatever figure it is just to make this fight happen. This is just a matter of negotiations and i'm optimistic that this unification will push through.

JC is now in the Philippines so it's sure that he will be able to play with the Gilas locals.

Yes, he really needs to join the Gilas practice nowadays.

If you guys recently watch the performance of Gilas in the China Pocket tournament, you will notice the big changes in them - sharing the ball. No such thing as isolation in most of their plays and it was designed for everyone. Gilas also shows in that tournament that "defense is the best offense".

Yup, as per interview of Carlo Pamintuan on coach Chot Reyes, he said that they really put emphasis on defense as good offense will flow once you have good defense. One thing i have noticed was that their percentage on the rainbow area was quite high during that four game friendly matches, even AJ Edu was shooting well on that area.

Damn, I really hope that Aj Edu and Rhenz Abando will make it to the final lineup. They are the additional game changer for PH in that tournament.

My fearless forecast is that they will be part in the final 12 roster of Gilas as both AJ Edu and Rhenz Abando plays excellent defense on which coach Chot Reyes wants this version of Gilas to be defense oriented.

~snip~
The first one was done and they blew out the Puerto Rico basketball team. Well, that's obvious given how strong and young the players of the USA are.
Tremont Waters will badly need a lot of help from his teammates if they want to advance. Sure, this is just an exhibition but it can already show how much of a mismatch they are to other teams if no other player can score especially against Serbia in their Group.

Spain is also not to be messed with Santi Aldama making his debut. They may not have the Gasol brothers anymore but I won't underestimate the power of this guy combined with the Hernangomez brothers.

17 more days. Let's just enjoy the exhibition matches.

Speaking of friendly/tune-up games, what do you think of the chances of Serbia against Greece and Poland against Turkey?

This is a tune-up game and Serbia might win this even without Jokic as there are new players that could fill his spot and that odds is somewhat juicy AFAIC while Poland is a no push-over so i won't be surprise if both Serbia and Poland will win on tomorrow's friendly.

Binawian ng Gilas yong Senegal kagabi sa score na 75-63. Ganda ng nilalaro ng Gilas, balance yong opensa nila, lima ata yong maka-score ng double digits na pinangungunahan ni Edu with 13 points. Mas may chemistry si Edu at Junemar pag pinagsabay dahil may tira din sa tres tong si Edu, stretch four in the making tong batang to, may 4 or 3 tres siyang naipasok sa larong to.

573  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Regis Prograis vs Devin Haney on: August 07, 2023, 11:31:07 AM
Weird. We have more votes for the defending champion Regis Prograis rather than the undisputed champion Devin Haney. Do you guys want to see Devin Haney lose or do you just believe that Regis lands his powerful punches?

I am bored with Haney's fighting style and he is supposed to lose against Loma. Now he is avoiding a Loma rematch, avoided his mandatory on Shakur, and avoided the real lineal champ at 140, Teofimo Lopez.

Regis had a bad night in his last fight and if he performs the same way again, Haney will have an easy time outboxing him. Still, I believe Regis knows he needs to perform better this time. I won't be surprised if he hits Haney with his signature awkward but powerful punches, this is the only way to beat Haney. If he cannot hurt Haney then he will lose his belt.

Hahaha. I remember that you call Haney an email champion, don't know the reason why but seems you don't like him or his fighting style.

Of the three (Prograis, Loma and Shakur), it is Prograis for me is the weakest and beatable, maybe that's the reason why they took this fight. This could be a clinching feast for Haney to avoid those awkward punches that Prograis may threw. If Regis could not knockout Haney, he will lose in points as Haney may outpoints him through his jabs. Jab, jab and clinch, Haney's game plan lol.

I've read an article that Shakur and Loma are mandated by the WBC to fight for the championship belt so this means that Haney is being strip of this version of this belt.

I'm not really sure if Prograis is the easiest, but if we look at the 140 lbs landscape, Regis could be one of the toughest champion that we have right now. He had a good fight against Josh Taylor and really put Taylor at bay but he lost a close decision, 114-114, 115-113, and 117-112.

So he is underrated at 140 lbs, maybe Haney Sr thinks it's going to be an easy fight for his son. But this is different league, against Kambosos and Loma he has the height and reach advantage but not in 140 lbs as there are good and bigger puncher than him obviously at this weight class.

Easiest in the sense that Prograis is the slowest among the three though he hit hard but I think Haney is quicker than Prograis so hitting him is not an easy thing to do plus the fact that whenever Prograis has the advantage, Haney will clinch. The only thing that could slow down Haney if he will be hit early on but i doubt it and yeah this is an interesting fight for Haney as he have to fight the best hereon.

576  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul Vs Nate Diaz boxing Aug 5th on Dazn PPV on: August 06, 2023, 07:16:47 AM
Rigged or not, what's important is the outcome is very entertaining, just like what we witnessed in this particular fight. Nate was hurt badly, but the guy has a huge tank that he was able to last until the final round. This is Jake Paul's territory, although he isn't undefeated anymore, but as a social media personality, he really looks tough and strong as a boxer.

If only it was scheduled for a twelve-round party, could Nate Diaz KOed the gassed-out Jake Paul? Yeah, entertaining indeed as everybody expected Paul to demolish/punished Nate but it doesn't happen, turned out that it was Diaz who punished Paul in the last rounds.

I wonder why the camp of Jake Paul is hesitant to fight Salt Papi, the latter has been calling out Paul but not a word from them if they will fight him or not. That could be one interesting fight I think.

577  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Appropriate percentage of income for gambling on: August 05, 2023, 12:42:07 PM
You are right, but even with the low amount of money, peope should not think of gambling as a way of making money, the 5% I go for is the amount that I can lose and never thing about it. I mean I can be able to afford to lose 5% of my weekly income to gambling. To make profit is not what I can think about while gambling because if not taking gambling as fund it may lead to using high amount of money.

Just curious, that 5 percent that you allocate, does it come from your regular day job or just from the signature campaign pay that you receive every week here because if it comes from your day job then that hurts, budget-wise.

Meanwhile, Gilas suffer a loss against Senegal.

Gilas fails to sustain charge against Senegal

Quote
GILAS Pilipinas failed to sustain an early fourth quarter charge and fell against Senegal, 72-64, in the Heyuan WUS International Basketball Tournament in Guandong, China Friday night.

I've seen the whole game and that was very close up until the fourth quarter when the Senegalese show their height advantage. If only Kai Sotto and Jordan Clarkson were playing in that game, high chance that Gilas will won as Sotto would add ceiling to the Philippine squad while Clarkson will provide his scoring prowess that went missing for the Gilas in the final minutes of that game.
579  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Oscar Valdez vs Emmanuel Navarette - Aug 12 on: August 05, 2023, 11:36:08 AM

I agree, Valdez looks amateur against Stevenson, and it just shows how good Shakur is at his level. But the did win a comeback again and won in the judges card. And so he is given a shot again his fellow Mexican Navarette who looks bad on the other hand and almost got knockout by an unknown fighter.

But I guess he has a big heart and believe in himself that he can make a bounce back after tasting the canvass in that fight. And won by a technical knockout over Liam in round 9. And for me this is a fight of the year candidate.

I'm sure it is, it's been a long time since we've seen a rivalry like that of Morales and Barrera, I hope the hype lived up to that they have the same style both aggressive and love to move forward, they don't care being hit as long as they can hit, but compared to Barrera - Morales who hate each other in their rivalry both fighters has respect to each other, let's see in their weigh in and the actual fight, if the fight is close and the two fighters do their things we can see a rematch.

This could be an explosive fight and either boxer would kiss the canvass if hit with those heavy bombs. This is one of the fights that is hard to predict who will win but I'm more inclined to back Oscar Valdez as I think he has more power of the two but we might see an upset here too because Navarrete has more experience than Valdez.

Bookies predicts that this fight would go the distance but i think otherwise.
580  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - November on: August 05, 2023, 10:31:50 AM
Hopefully that will be the case for Inoue, stay at the top of 122 lbs division for at least to defend the belt. The problem though if by chance Inoue had all the belts in this division, sanctioning bodies are going to have their mandatory. So it's very hard to defend all the belts that he had that he will have to vacant some of it and then defend either 1 or 2 belts only. And if he doesn't want to, then he can go up in the next weight class and for sure, that's one option as well that he and his team is looking for. So maybe a Casimero fight, as much as we want to see it, the chance are very slim, just saying.

Yup, those sanctioning bodies also want to earn some money by doing mandatory fights but the goal of Inoue is to be a unified champion at 122 lbs and after that he could relinquish some of the belts that he doesn't want to depend but first, he needs to fight Tapales to achieve his goal and give the latter the appropriate money for that fight as it a big fight that I think would earn big money.

Luis Nerry or Casimero is the fight they target before going up.
