5861  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: There should be a yearly award ceremony on: January 17, 2014, 09:23:02 PM
The point of crypto is to not be recognized...
We're all people, not machines.  Awards increase our self-confidence, as well as showcases the biggest achievements.

And surrenders our anonymity.

You act as though all Bitcoin traders, investors, and enthusiasts are meak little neckbeards. I for one don't need to increase my self-confidence with some self-serving taint-licking award.

This whole thread is asinine.

I wasn't referring to a physical ceremony, more like nomination, voting, posting the results. You only need to provide your username. Besides some praise for a good work reminds people that good work is appreciated.

The point of crypto is to not be recognized...

If you can't believe it or not, most people outside the USA don't want honors and stuff like that. Only USA and sadly my generation that require every time they do something amazing by themselves need an award. That is why our country right now has hardly any achievements from the younger crowd.
I don't live in the US so I don't know. I'm not incisting to do massive award ceremonies, just using a method shown above your quote in my post.

Big whoop...  Roll Eyes The network will adjust and the other blocks will be found slower.
5863  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dilemma of FBI coins on: January 17, 2014, 06:46:26 PM
They will be sold in bulk at a discount auction. No need to worry. This is actually a good thing because it removes uncertainty.

So once sold, it'll probably be a good time to invest due to the temporary drop of price?
Why would it drop. If you invest milions in BTC you probably know what you're buying - a commodity that gains value over time. I don't think any buyer would just dump his coins at once.
Don't believe trolls shouting "sell all btc will crash because FBI will just pick one random exchange and dump all their coins there at once".
Well stupid people exist. You never know, what they will do.
5864  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dilemma of FBI coins on: January 17, 2014, 06:42:11 PM
can't they just spend it?

if they want guns, they can just buy a stack of gyft cards and have a trip to walmart, or use bitpay to buy daily crap. They should also keep some btc for sting operation and what not
According to the law, Bitcoin is property and all legal confiscated property has to be auctioned off. That's at least what I understood after doing some reading around the webs.
5865  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why so much spam? on: January 17, 2014, 06:40:20 PM
I guess I shouldn't be surprised that most of the responses came from people who are so desperate for money that they add advertisements to their signatures.  Bumvertising at it's finest.
Well, the ad sigs are the main source of BTC for me since I don't buy it. Just because we're able to turn our hobby into profit and there are a few particulary annoying bad apples doesn't mean it's bad on the whole.

Considering every single gambling service on the Internet is a (more or less significant) scam, advertising scams isn't exactly what I call a "sweet apple" Wink
(but it's not uncommon for people without principles to sell out their souls for the prospect of a few pennies - they're the vast majority in the BTC world)
Why is it a scam? A scam is an operation which takes away ones possesions against their will through deceptive methods.
5866  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My perseverance paid off: Brown Safe now accepts Coinbase for luxury safes on: January 17, 2014, 06:37:03 PM
Great to see another merchant accept Bitcoin. Would purchase a safe if I had anything valuable enough to store in it and if it was in my local region.

FBI want bitcoin too??  Grin
Doubt that. They will be auctioning those Bitcoins soon, so I don't think it indicates they want them.
5872  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dilemma of FBI coins on: January 17, 2014, 04:11:59 PM
I heard the Foundation is trying to convince the FBI to sell the BTC in multiple auctions instead of one not to crash the price.

And give me one single reason. Why should FBI listen to bunch of techie with a mission to change future of money?
Ths foundation consits of businessman, pretty influential. They'll find a way to negotiate with the FBI. Or we're fucked.

I learnt that if you dobnt have weed, you an still get super fucking high by drinking vodka and shaking with dubstep Grin Grin
Why doesn't that seem like a good idea? Maybe those sharp edges of the furniture around the house. But, nah, it's probably something else.
5875  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is the BEST forum software available today? on: January 16, 2014, 12:59:35 PM
From my experience, I can tell toy that discourse is the best-looking forum software, having both modern UI and ease of use....
What about security? It might look good, but be flawed in the backend.
5876  Other / Off-topic / Re: Computer Hacked on: January 16, 2014, 12:15:20 PM
BTC really need to take measures against hacking and stealing. I think that's the only flaw in BTC.

No, that's a flaw in the people who use BTC.

It's not hard to protect your coins as long as you know how to protect your computer.
Yeah, just treat it like your money. Would you walk around flashing your wallet everywhere?
5877  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is it a good idea to drop out from college and invest in Crypto Currencies? on: January 16, 2014, 12:07:52 PM
Study and spend your free time investing with any spare money you can afford to lose. Dropping out for BTC isn't a good idea.

Unless your an improtant and rich person you have nothing to worry about. NSA dosent care about peasents.

They do when you do something the NSA don't like. Nothing is safe.

Unless you plan to do a terrorist action, otherwise why would the NSA care about when you drink cofee or when you watch porn...

Maybe they need something to discredit you with publicly.

I hate conspiracy theories, the NSA dosent care about you nor me,were nobody. stop being so paranoid.

I'm not talking about you or I and am not paranoid and it's not a conspiracy theory, and speak for yourself as I'm sure you are a nobody.

OK,and we never landed on the moon,NSA has spies in traffic lights, and they put mind control device in your food. better yet,we are all robots and you are the only human .... lol...
[tinfoilhattime]We actually don't do anything in reality. We are hooked up to tubes creating an illusion in our mind.[/tinfoilhattime]
