61  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Free listing exchanges on: May 25, 2019, 07:35:56 AM
IDEX would be your most likely option.

Maybe you should take this as an opportunity to share a little bit about your coin? If you think it has some value, which presumably you do as otherwise why would you list it and think someone would exchange for it, then you should be able to share something about it! Smiley

Otherwise keep building your project up and list once it is a bit more developed.
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency Has Done me More Good than Harm?what about You? on: May 25, 2019, 07:05:11 AM
For most people it would be more 'good' than 'harm'.

I learned how to gpu mine, learned a bit of coding on the side, learned about blockchain and about new projects in this space (even if most don't work out!).

So yeah, definitely a net positive.

The only people who would say it has been more harmful would be those who dumped a bunch of money in around 2017 with not much consideration of the risks. Those people would have lost money and not learned anything about crypto or blockchain.
63  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A New Bitcoin Rival Is Coming? on: May 25, 2019, 06:15:48 AM
It's just an attempt by Facebook to make more money.

Besides being a digital 'currency' in a loose sense, it will be nothing like Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is decentralized, unregulated and lasting. Facebook's coin is.... what exactly? Nothing but an over inflated and pumped up sh*tcoin.
64  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [BEWARE] Sim Port Attack on: May 25, 2019, 02:34:06 AM
This is a major security issue, and I'm sorry to hear you lost so much that must be devastating.

In my country you hear of phone companies saying that a phone number was never meant to be used as a security checking device, and so they are of the view that while they have (basic) security procedures in place, they are not responsible if taking your phone number results in a breach of your broader accounts attached to your phone. They will take responsibility for costs incurred relating to the phone specifically (like making a bunch of overseas calls) but not something like coins, emails or other personal information attached to your account.

I hope there is some recourse for you through the phone companies or maybe even insurance.
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Passive income from cryptocurrencies in 2019 on: May 25, 2019, 01:32:15 AM
Well passive income is not guarantee in cryptocurrency but even at that some token/coins have intrinsic value and the team may decide to do a buy back program where investors will have the choice to sell they token back to the team at an intrinsic value set by the team.

If you are already holding crypto, there are a few services that offer interest for locking up that crypto. For example dharma io which I mentioned before and cryptocom.

Worth checking out, easy interest and you don't have to do much.
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU Replacement fans on: May 24, 2019, 11:51:48 AM
I wouldn't recommend this but you could take the faulty fan off your gpu, and point a normal desk fan directly at the card/rig.

When you think about it, the fan is just there to get the heat off the card and a regular fan can do that. Just need to keep tabs on the temperature since it isn't as precise.

I haven't done it, but have read of someone doing this.
67  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig Wright recognised by US Govt as Satoshi, author of white paper on: May 24, 2019, 09:08:27 AM
If crypto was regulated like stocks, he'd be going to jail for insider trading or running a pump and dump scheme.

Craig probably has a stack of Bitcoin SV, probably bought even more deep before the copyright claim, and I bet you he is dumping hard just having doubled his money from all the people that don't realise a 'claim' doesn't mean it has been found successful.

If he wants to prove he is Satoshi it so easy. Say you'll move an amount of BTC from the 'Satoshi bitcoins' wallet to another, and back again. Say you'll do it on a certain day. And then just do it. Bam you've got a case to be Satoshi.
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining Analysis on: May 23, 2019, 10:34:48 AM
Mining is profitable if the cost of your electricity does not exceed 3 cents, if the cost is 8 cents, then the mining loses its meaning. Also, if you want the ROI to be reduced by 2 times, you need to buy a used video cards. In this case, you will quickly recoup equipment costs and with cheap electricity you will quickly be able to reach the net profit.

At todays slightly rebounded prices, you can still mine profitably at around 15 cents per kwh.

Obviously the cheaper the better. But it definitely doesn't need to be quite that low to still be worthwhile. However, I wouldn't be going out buying a rig at that price.
69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Am done with KYC on: May 23, 2019, 03:18:48 AM
I would never do KYC at bounty/investing stage of ICO.

Way too much risk in my opinion. Could have issues with identity theft or selling on your information. Even just from a spam perspective it isn't a good idea.

I will only do KYC for projects once they've been set up with a product for at least a year, and even then it is rare.
70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Passive income from cryptocurrencies in 2019 on: May 22, 2019, 09:34:08 PM
You could try dharma io. You lend out ETH or DAI for a set return. It is pretty high for DAI as a stablecoin, but also works for ETH.

There is an interface to lend out your crypto and the rest is done with smart contracts. Good passive income if you plan on just holding.
71  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cryptocurrency Explained A course by The Crypto Lark on: May 22, 2019, 12:17:22 PM
Yes I remember the crypto lark. He does a good job and his videos are pretty engaging.

For those interested in altcoins, you can try searching for 'boxmining' on youtube.
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How much revenue can I make with these GPUs on: May 22, 2019, 08:59:25 AM
If your focus is on mining bitcoin - then you can't mine it directly with GPU. Or if you could, it wouldn't be profitable - it would be like mining for gold with a spoon in a city.

If you just want Bitcoin, and are happy to mine it indirectly, you could use a program like Nicehash, which mines other coins then automatically exchanges them for Bitcoin. So you are kind of indirectly 'mining' Bitcoin.

Otherwise you can use a website like whattomine and choose a coin from there. To start off with (and given you have GTXs), you could try Ethereum or Ravencoin, as both are well established projects - particularly Ethereum which is second in coinmarketcap only to Bitcoin. In either of these cases, you could always go to a coin exchange later and swap it for Bitcoin.
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: JSEcoin | Browser mining | ASIC resistant! *40JSE/day on RPi* on: May 22, 2019, 08:49:31 AM

I don't want to cast negativity on JSECOIN since I am also a holder and still mining it through my blogs, but they should address all the issue about their token, and do something on the price, we need more exchange or more good platform to push the price.

But if exchange volume is $100-$200 USD per day, then getting another exchange (to potentially split that total) wouldn't actually help at all. There are issues with liquidity as it is.

The issue is that there is no buy pressure, since there isn't a firm reason (in most people's) minds to buy. You've got bag holders in telegram saying they've got millions of these coins, and they're choosing not to sell in hopes the price goes up. But you can bet as soon as it does, they'll start dumping, which creates even more downwards pressure on prices and pushes it back down to its current levels.

Not sure I have a solution other than needing more incentives or use cases to encourage buying and using JSE coin.
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WPP Energy tokens? on: May 20, 2019, 08:07:57 AM
Wpp is trying to become a 'stablecoin' pegged to the price of emissions for CO2 I believe (like over a dollar something like that).

I just don't see it happening right now. We need a lot more news regarding development. With a reported $60 million raised they should be able to provide a lot more updates.

I'm also one of those people who are waiting for updates and hopefully that will bring a positive direction.  I bought WPP tokens but not in large quantities, because if I see this situation, it might take a long time to hold the WPP token to reach a price of more than $ 1.

I think the stablecoin of $1 plus rhetoric is a bit of an obvious pump attempt (even if they think they can get there in time once the project starts delivering).

If they have auditable evidence that their tokens are backed by assets or something tangible worth that amount, then great, but right now it is a bit ephemeral and not exactly clear how they'll show that it is pegged/stable to something.

76  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hi can a Beginner make Profit? on: May 19, 2019, 09:18:20 AM
A beginner just means you are starting out. Everyone was a beginner at some stage.

Don't stress - yeah you could make a profit but maybe don't use that as your only measure of success. Instead just read up on the forum, post on topics you find interesting, and learn a few things along the way, whether that be mining, altcoins, bitcoin or whatever Smiley
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Germany's First STO - Your thoughts? on: May 19, 2019, 08:39:04 AM
Germany or STO...
However, this is a credit platform. Until now, such projects have not been successful. And this is understandable: there is still a small adoption, so people use cryptocurrency not enough and do not create a large cash turnover.

There are a few popular credit type platforms. Cryptocom is launching a crypto lending/borrowing facility.

Similarly Dharma io offers has had one going for a while (was launched earlier this year) and does this almost entirely through smart contracts.

So in short, yeah there are a couple platforms that have pulled it off. Not sure about this first 'german STO'. I'll watch it out of interest, but probably won't participate.
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Confidence in Cryptocurrency on: May 19, 2019, 08:33:24 AM
Restoring confidence in cryptocurrency will take a long time.  Most of the government nowadays and the regulation about cryptocurrency are trying to do the opposite.  It won't be easy but it will happen sooner or later because crypto is the next money technology.

Not all governments and regulators are against cryptocurrency. Take places like Cyprus, Estonia or even Singapore or HK as examples. Plenty of locations out there are taking advantage of the interest in cryptocurrency and creating open but still somewhat regulated spaces for new blockchain companies, projects and start ups to incubate.

79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: BANANO Miner - Earn BANANO while Helping to Cure Cancer [CPU/GPU/Folding@home] on: May 19, 2019, 07:38:03 AM
Fold proteins on a cpu? Awesome for medical research!

Also by the looks of it you can set this up as something you could do on the side for your gpu mining rig. It also doesn't look like it uses too much electricity.
80  Other / Meta / Re: Petition: disable "Banned from displaying..." signature and leave it blank on: May 19, 2019, 06:50:42 AM

By good advertisers I mean good posters in general, not "good salesmen". Some of the banned people with 5+ years of experience had a better knowledge of Bitcoin than you do so calm down.

If they are good posters, then they can keep posting. A ban on your sig does nothing to stop that.

You're specifically arguing that you/they will be 'unemployable' because of being caught plagarizing - so my point stands. If transparency on an earlier ban makes you unable to get into sig campaigns well that's probably a good thing. There should be disincentives.

Reading back on your posts in this thread, the entire language and expectation you have around how you should be able to make money off signatures, being a good advertiser, needing to be employable and so on is entirely indicative of the problem with spam in this forum.

If these people are good posters first, and have a sig blog as a secondary point, then they will keep posting regardless of any sig bans.
