1041  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Crazydane's 32 kw solar array build feeding 16 kw worth of miners on: January 15, 2018, 04:24:01 AM
Good project Dane! I have done similar with 21.6kW panels / 5kW miners. Very fun and satisfying synergy.

Yeah this has always interested me. I sometimes 'feel bad' about pulling electricity for mining, which is mainly coming from non-renewable sources (although where I live the council/government is trying to increase its amount of renewable energy).

Having a clean mining operation is great, because you get all the benefits of mining, without the added electricity consumption pumping out fossil fuels and adding to your quarterly running bill.
1042  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: January 15, 2018, 04:19:20 AM
So much things coming for stratis in january and still not moving ? What's wrong ?

Have u look at the chart?
Such a healthy curve we have.
3months profit 180.76%.

I could ask whats wrong with the people?

Yeah lets focus on the positives! I'd prefer people talk about the projects or what Stratis aims to do, whether it is achieving its aims etc, instead of just talking about the price!

I'd like to hear about more real world and practical applications of people/business using Stratis, not just whether it has gone up or down by a few dollars over x weeks Smiley That's probably when the price will go up.
1043  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Legolas Exchange, fair, secure and realistic exchange on: January 15, 2018, 03:56:11 AM
Looks good. With all the exchanges out there at the moment struggling to keep up with demand (and closing off new registrations in the process!) it is great to see new quality exchanges coming onto the market, and legolas looks to be one of them.

There are quite a few planning to release mid 2018, so will be a lot more competition for customers, instead of the scenario where exchanges are turning away new registrations!
1044  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BWK] BULWARK | NO ICO | Masternodes | Accelerated PoW | Seesaw PoS/MN on: January 15, 2018, 02:59:39 AM
Got some news from Bsod admin, their engineers working and coins lost in yesterdays ddos attack should be transferred in about 8 hours from now. That is estimate time of course.
Thanks for good news!
Looks like admin have already added some funds to my bsod wallet approximately an hour ago.

Yes, I got mine too, thanks devil for that Smiley

Awesome yeah it was up and down for a while there, although I was away from my rig so couldn't really do much about it!

Problem is, what will be done to ensure these issues don't pop up again in a few days time? I know pools aren't immune to these problems, but would be great to know what can be done to protect the pool from further ddos attacks. Must be difficult for pool operators to stay on top of these challenges and issues, but I think they did well with keeping the community in the loop with what they were doing.
1045  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Crazydane's 32 kw solar array build feeding 16 kw worth of miners on: January 15, 2018, 02:42:38 AM
That's awesome - I've seen a lot of people on reddit talk about the feasibility of doing a solar mining operation. Looks like a great project - I'll follow.

I think you could do a blog on a place like steemit and probably get a few people interested. It's a bit hit and miss over there sometimes in terms of what gets popular but you could make a few bucks if the right people read about your project, plus you've already done the work by posting about it here.

Do you already have the miners all set up, or will you get them (or more) once the solar system is all up and running?
1046  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ✅[ANN] Curium [ANN] CRU |🔨 POW & MasterNodes 🔨| New CryptoCurrency ✅ on: January 15, 2018, 01:57:13 AM
Are the bugs fixed/nodes online? Any pools up and running?

Happy to mine and sign up to the airdrop once everything is up and running! Website with details would also be useful, just to see what we can expect over next six to twelve months Smiley I always like supporting a new coin just getting started Smiley
1047  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN [MCO] MONACO #1 Cryptocurrency Payments Card on: January 15, 2018, 01:12:17 AM
Everywhere I go on the internet lately, I've been targeted by Monaco Visa Card adds. This implies to me that a start-up "initial coin offering" (ICO) has spent way too much money on advertising, and not enough time on getting it's project off the ground. To be sure, things look entirely over-done on too many levels, that its hard ...

Very little advertisement in compare to other brands. Check out the perks products -- best quality, best perks and a system that can be used cross platform.

Very little/no 'paid' advertisement by Monaco (at least that's what the company reports).

There was some valuable non paid advertising recently, where Monaco was on asia's version of CNN for an interview on their product and what they are trying to achieve. Worth a look at - these type of interviews are worth more than some random banner adds on crypto websites!
1048  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU safe temperature RX580? 72C normal? on: January 14, 2018, 11:50:50 PM
72C is fine imo. The default fan curve for the GPU allows it to go much higher, without the fan kicking in and sounding like an airplane taking off.

I have a couple of GPU's (not RX580's though) that are running in mid 70's and are running fine and consistent. If you like, you can increase the fan speed manually with msi afterburner or a similar program, which can help bring it down if you're worried. I think the main thing in terms of temperature is to make sure you don't stress the cables by having too many adapters, or converting from molex to sata, or anything like that.
1049  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ZEN] ZenCash: Private, Secure, Resilient CryptoCurrency with zk-SNARKs on: January 12, 2018, 05:39:00 AM
New Zencash logo looks great! Also website looks more modern and cleaner.

A lot of coins are using a navy/dark blue look. But the 'teal' looks like a great addition too. Also the youtube videos look great and explain the objectives and development of zencash very well.
1050  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN [MCO] MONACO #1 Cryptocurrency Payments Card on: January 12, 2018, 03:14:40 AM
$17-14 was too easy!

Thats the point .
When u hv big amt , u just hv to go for same changes n yet the profit can sustain you for the entire year.
Thats the rule of daily trading with large capital.
Just make use of it .
Ride the wave

Haha yeah but having large capital invested means that if things go wrong, then they go really wrong!

Also means if things go right, you're laughing. Regardless of how much people have invested, you can try day trading in ranges if that's your thing, particularly since most crypto exchanges have a very low exchange fee.
1051  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Steemit.com: Blogging is the new Mining on: January 12, 2018, 03:00:45 AM
I love steemit because well for the obvious reasons.

I hate it because of bots system and some whales acting very cocky.

In total i like it Smiley

Yeah I agree. I've recently started blogging on steem and overall I like it, but there are some issues with the platform.

I think the community on bitcointalk is larger and much more engaged, and I feel like you can have a proper discussion on Bitcointalk compared to steemit.

I wrote a short post (that perhaps exaggerates the difference) on the popularity of Bitcointalk relative to Steemit that highlights, anecdotally, that Bitcointalk provides maybe ten times the audience/traffic than steemit, especially for 'new' steemit users.

https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@hassy/bitcointalk-ten-times-more-popular-than-steemit-for-cryptocurrency-news

Obviously it's likely an exaggeration, but the point still stands.
1052  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] STRAKS - Decentralised, Open Source, Community Driven Digital Currency on: January 12, 2018, 01:24:05 AM
Bet all those people who decided not to swap to get Straks for whatever reason probably wish they did.

I had a look at Hitbtc recently and they are going on an absolute tear to list new coins. Something like four new coins a day are getting announced for listing. Probably trying to grab more of the market given larger exchanges have closed or limited their new registrations due to popularity.
1053  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Is Binance safe to store cryptos? on: January 12, 2018, 12:46:06 AM
I trust this exchange. To ensure that you have no doubts about reliability, install two-factor authentication. This will greatly enhance the safety of your money and increase the withdrawal limit. But you must always follow the main rule of investor - don't put all your eggs in one basket.

I feel like two factor authentication may help with individual security - ie avoids issues if someone finds out your password.

However, 2FA will make little difference if Binance exchange as a whole gets hacked. For example, with what happened to Nicehash. Won't matter if you have a super long password with random symbols and 2FA if the actual security systems at the exchange itself is compromised!
1054  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MUNcoin - PoW 100% [SKUNK] [MASTERNODE] [BOUNTIES] [ANTI-INSTAMINE] on: January 12, 2018, 12:26:36 AM
what pools are avaiable to mine MUN? is it jut bsod working atm?

Suprnova has a pool going for muncoin. If you're registered with suprnova already, you can mine it without a regular muncoin wallet in the short term if you're still setting all that up. I think their commission is something like 1 per cent so there may be better pools out there - however I think suprnova is generally pretty well trusted and well established so might want to factor that in.

bsod pool is also good as far as I know but I haven't mined that much with them.
1055  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: 🔷trade.io🔷[ANN] [ICO]💲31,169,749 🔷Partner Civic & Bancor🔷HitBTC & OKEx on: January 12, 2018, 12:22:44 AM
It looks like price is above ICO price which is imo very positive thing, hopefully we will see token on big exchange and not only at etherdelta. Besides, it is not even listed there.

Yeah we'll wait and see once regular trading starts on established platforms like HitBtc and OKex if it can hold at that kind of level.

Really makes me happy to have been part of the bounty campaign for trade.io! Was a great campaign and hopefully it helped TIO get some more exposure and investors.
1056  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] STRAKS - Decentralised, Open Source, Community Driven Digital Currency on: January 12, 2018, 12:01:35 AM
I show here STRAKS increased by 88% Today, I was curious because of what good news led to its rise?

Might have something to do with the upcoming HitBtc listing? Otherwise not sure. It is relatively new to exchanges so there will always be some fluctuation as new people are provided their first opportunity to exchange for Straks without joining the more obscure or small exchanges out there.
1057  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: January 11, 2018, 11:52:21 PM
1080ti looks like a beast on equihash coins.

How are people finding the power use and cabling?

What I mean by 'cabling' is that each 1080ti needs two 8 pin cables. Most 8 pin cables are 2x8 (or 2x 6 +2) pin - that is, they have two 8 pin connectors on the one cable.

Are you able to use just two cables for a 1080ti, with one 8 pin connector to power half of the 1080ti, BUT then use the other remaining 8 pin connector on the same cables to power, say, a 1070?

Getting the most (safely) out of your cables is important if you're running out of sockets/cables on your PSU!

Debating between the ccminer-x64-2.2.2-cuda9 and the suggested nvida miner ccminer-alexis78-ms2013-cuda7.5

I get this with the alexis one.  Why is it reporting two different hash rates?  What are you guys using?

GPU#0:ASUS GTX 1080 Ti, 78.90MH/s
[2018-01-10 21:35:54] [S/A/T]: 0/3/3, diff: 1.387, 68.79MH/s yes!

Thanks,

The Alexis version has been shown to be faster. It's better optimized for the NIST5 algorithm and, therefore, higher hash rates with the same hardware when compared to ccminer 2.2

Thanks.

Yeah I feel like there is a huge blind spot for many GPU miners (not that I'm necessarily complaining!) in mining with the Nist5 algo and what miners to use, and bulwark in particular I think is a good case study of this where it has steadily risen in value, has a good path ahead, focus on masternodes etc, but is still not getting quite the number of miners to match its price.

Part of this is because it is missing on the front page of whattomine in my opinion. Recently I wrote a short blog post pointing this out if you're interested:

https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@hassy/whattomine-is-missing-algorithms-and-is-losing-you-money

1059  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] STRAKS - Decentralised, Open Source, Community Driven Digital Currency on: January 11, 2018, 06:11:07 AM
Just saw on a Hitbtc tweet that they'll be listing Straks in February!

Congratulations guys that is great news - Hitbtc is a bit more 'reputable' than some of the other exchanges out there, so this is definitely good news. Any promotional campaign as part of this listing, or maybe some other good news or exchanges on the horizon Wink
1060  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MUNcoin - PoW 100% [SKUNK] [MASTERNODE] [BOUNTIES] [ANTI-INSTAMINE] on: January 11, 2018, 06:06:47 AM
I tried mining muncoin for a bit over an hour on a 5 gpu rig with about 110 hashrate.

Only mined something like 0.1 muncoin - now the exact 'number' doesn't matter if it is a popular and high priced coin with a lot of support, but at the moment it is hard to tell where it will land! I didn't realise it would be so popular to mine, but I'll be interested to see how much one muncoin is exchanged for Smiley
