I'm quite surprised that other Coins haven't introduced the HoboNickels multi-wallet function but maybe that is a bit too complex for people to clone.

Ad personam (emphasis' mine):

Quote from: Shopenhauer, the art of being right
A last trick is to become personal, insulting, rude, as soon as you perceive that your opponent has the upper hand, and that you are going to come off worst. It consists in passing from the subject of dispute, as from a lost game, to the disputant himself, and in some way attacking his person. It may be called the argumentum ad personam, to distinguish it from the argumentum ad hominem, which passes from the objective discussion of the subject pure and simple to the statements or admissions which your opponent has made in regard to it. But in becoming personal you leave the subject altogether, and turn your attack to his person, by remarks of an offensive and spiteful character. It is an appeal from the virtues of the intellect to the virtues of the body, or to mere animalism. This is a very popular trick, because every one is able to carry it into effect; and so it is of frequent application.

To acheive this, they’ve got to convince people of three things:

[1] - that the public ledger is of little or no benefit to them either collectively or individually and it is in fact “a threat”

[2] - that any technology attempting to enhance anonymity directly while preserving the concept of the public ledger is either flawed, a scam or unsecure

[3] - that “visibility” and “fungibility” are interchangeable monetary properties and therefore that money will retain its value even if “invisible”

Three possibilities:
  • Mandatory transparency (Bitcoin)
  • Optional transparency (Monero)
  • Mandatory privacy (Zerocash, if ever)

The dangers of mandatory transparency

The power of optional transparency

The low demand for mandatory privacy

I consider the demand for mandatory privacy (Zerocash) is much lower than the one for optional transparency (Monero). Much like the demand for throwaway email addresses is real but much lower than for regular mail addresses. And this is independant of the feasibility of zerocash (which presently is low), so even if Zerocash would happen (good luck with that), it would not enjoy much success (compared to the other two configurations).

The Mono .NET Framework and Gtk# must be installed on Linux before running MoneroX. I'll update the original post to contain installation instructions for Linux.
Any chance to get a turnkey solution, à la Windows?

What do you mean? By the way, only the Mono .NET Framework is required to run MoneroX.
I just created a Monero X thread on the official forum with my proposal. I hope this will encourage even more traffic there.

Congratulation Jojatetok! But https://github.com/Jojatekok/MoneroGui.Net/releases/download/v1.0.0/MoneroGui.Net-v1.0.0-Linux-x64.zip seems to be Windows binary (MoneroGui.Net.exe)

There's been extensive literature on this (i'm sure david L will step in with a good link or two)
Sure, sir!

- https://youtu.be/_PRLuaD-qVQ?t=10m12s "Monero is the esperanto name for money. Our target audience is 7 billions people so better to have an international name."
- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563821.msg6362485#msg6362485 "Changing bitmonero (BMR) to monero (MRO)"

Furthermore, bitcoin has already been "kleenexed" or "xeroxed" or "band aid"ed. (If you're outside the US, we call a tissues kleenex because a major brand "kleenex" made a lot of tissues. The company Xerox created the photocopier, and it was such a mindblowing concept that people didn't know what to call it, so Xerox had to come up with "photocopy", but peopled started calling the process "xeroxing"... I forget the name of the phenomenon, but companies actually invest money to STOP this from happening, because eventually the public associates a given thing with a given brand name, regardless of the actual brand.)

My own tutorial

For Linux

1. http://blog.nem.io/mac-installation-guide-standalone/
2. terminal 1 '(path)/package/nix.runNcc.sh'
3. terminal 2 '(path)/package/nix.runNis.sh'
4. wait some seconds
5. go to http://localhost:8989/ncc/web/dashboard.html
6. create a wallet and enter your private key you got previously (if you don't, it is probably over)

Sadly my amount of XEM is: 0! Just before I has 2 250 000 (don't remember if it was XEM or NEMStake
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: March 31, 2015, 11:21:45 PM
The Church proclaims the Great Flash of Light is the Lord's response to the sinful wallowing in luxury of warm homes while not showing devotion.  It is clear that He has driven people through the dark night to the only warm place left in the Kingdom, the house of God. It would behoove all good Christian men and women to reflect upon this and consider leaving their life of sin behind and joining the ranks of the Church. May God have Mercy on your Souls!

Quote
"The Lord is a jealous God, filled with vengeance and wrath.  He takes revenge on all who oppose him and furiously destroys his enemies!  The LORD is slow to get angry, but his power is great, and he never lets the guilty go unpunished.  He displays his power in the whirlwind and the storm.  The billowing clouds are the dust beneath his feet.  At his command the oceans and rivers dry up, the lush pastures of Bashan and Carmel fade, and the green forests of Lebanon wilt.  In his presence the mountains quake, and the hills melt away; the earth trembles, and its people are destroyed.  Who can stand before his fierce anger?  Who can survive his burning fury?  His rage blazes forth like fire, and the mountains crumble to dust in his presence.  The LORD is good.  When trouble comes, he is a strong refuge.  And he knows everyone who trusts in him.  But he sweeps away his enemies in an overwhelming flood.  He pursues his foes into the darkness of night."
(Nahum 1:2-8 NLT)

To this end, there is now a new gameplay element, Religion Points, in the game now-REL points (they are like SCI and CUL). REL can be interpreted as “Christian reputation”; being a "good Christian". REL points are mostly obtained indirectly: by contributing to the Church in one way or another. REL points can in turn be used to get favours, like lower prices (especially if you buy Church land around a Church), for instance for joining the Pious order. They can also be used for paying indulgence - roleplay-wise, this means that someone having luxury without donating to the Church will be considered less and less of a good Christian, since his REL score will become thinner.  REL is the key component that allows you to climb the hierarchical order in the Church, to become more powerful and have more influence.

There are two ways to start out with REL. The first method: players who have no money and just want to play the game may join the Church and will start as a Junior Friar (see table below).  Second method: if a CK player wishes to start in the Church at a higher level, a donation of 5,000,000 moneritos to the Church will be accepted and they will start out in the Church at the third level (Senior Friar).

Further donations to the Church will be evaluated by The Bishop on a case-by-case basis. There is the possibility to gain rank in the Church more quickly by gifting moneritos, gold, land, or buildings to the Church.  Involvement in the Church will play a role as well--we reward active members!

No member of the Church is homeless or in a hotel, as the Church cares for its members, so we shall provide.  Historically, this was one major reason for peasants to join the Church. Each character who is in the Church shall be gifted a small home with a 10x10m lot on a lifetime lease once he reaches level 5 (Acolyte proper). This helps new players who are trying to start but may not have the funds to purchase a house outright initially.  Because of this gift, the Church requires that the income from the player (friar) be donated to the Church. When the player dies, the house ownership automatically reverts to the Church. If the player has assets of 25,000,000 moneritos at the time of gaining Acolyte proper status, this player sacrifices their claim to a house.  This is not to punish players, but to reward those who want to play and don’t have much Monero to spare.

Another duty of a friar is to help the Church by using their HLP points for the Church. This gets turned into BLD points and will help make it possible for the Church to create the homes without huge financial toll.  There will be more announcements regarding the HLP/BLD system as the Church gets more information from His Majesty.

Additionally, the higher a character’s level in the Church, the more valuables and/or land they will bring back from expeditions to foreign lands (via Templar's rented boats, for instance) once this is a part of gameplay.

"Major order" is like "nobility". "Minor order" is like "commoner". All the terms are based on historical data. When a character dies, the player's next character will get some bonus according to his rank in the Pious Order--God's will. Said bonuses are not defined yet.

Code:
Tier            Title                 REL
Major order     Senior Bishop         2546

So come, join The Church!

Try going into the nis folder and launch it from there instead of launching it from outside.
If that does work you can put the cd command into the .sh so you can start it from anywhere in the future.
I have "data" and "logs" in it, nothing more. And data only has two .db files

The amount of energy needed to refute bullshit is an order of magnitude bigger than to produce it.

Granted, not knowing how much energy Evan and co needed to create DRK, I cannot tell if refuting it takes 10 time more energy.
