DMDers, we need your help.

DigiByte needs Groestl hash (myriadcoin-groestl) to get SegWit to its 70% threshold.

Don't do it for us though - do it because it's profitable. With the optimized sph-miner, you can mine the equivalent of .14527845 DMD per MHs per day (20 MHs = 2.9 DMD a day).

If you want to mine the most profitable coin to mine right now, swap algos in your config file, then point your rigs to https://www.miners-pool.eu/pools/digibyte%20-%20groestl . No registration required. Just put your DGB address in the user name field, and mine away. (You'll find wallet installs at http://digibyte.co/ or https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=408268.0 .

Thanks in advance for all your help.   Smiley

So here's my "refined" retweet (to all of my 86 followers  Cheesy    . . . but if people start retweeting . . .).
https://twitter.com/HR_DGB/status/853182368735211521

Better safe than sorry. Point those Groestl miners to either http://digihash.co/ or https://www.miners-pool.eu/ just to be sure.  Wink

Edit: according to the data Jared reported above, I estimate that with around 1.25Ghs more on Groestl, we'd make the 70% global figure.

Time to rent hash power like Jared mentioned on the last round table? (Edit 2: of course that could be a waste if they don't have their wallets upgraded . . .)

DigiExplorer is sure giving weird data.

This was a change we were experimenting with to display OP_RETURN data. It is simply hex data being converted to ASCII.  Please ignore and will fix.

Shouldn't it be consistent across all pools? Or is Miners Pool participating more closely in the experimental process? (And the hybrid reporting for The Blocks Factory?)
Its just a data conversion from hex to ascii. Those other pools just had multiple tx's instead of a single one. Nothing to worry about.

Okay.

Not really worried though. Since zpool said they still hadn't upgraded their stratum servers for SegWit, and MiningPoolHub wasn't signaling before, and with TheBlocksFactory still reporting 100 confirms on their site, there just seemed to be a very high correlation between the data reported by DigiExplorer and those facts regarding who was completely updated and who wasn't - the only data reported by DigiExplorer that is the same as that for DigiHash is the data reported for MinersPool-eu (or format as it were). Based on the assumption that DigiHash is correctly confirgured, and given those facts just mentioned above, it would seem that only MinersPool-eu is 100% compliant. Those are the assumptions and logic I was applying, more to try and isolate the most reliable places to point miners, and not so much to suggest any issue. Just looks like some folks are still a bit out of step.

Thanks for the information. Much appreciated.

groestl is the algo currently keeping us from 70%. Looks to be a single miner, changing address on every new block mined.

And explanation for the different reporting on DigiExplorer?

The DigiHash and Miners Pool reporting is the same. The data for The Blocks Factory looks "hybred". The reporting on zPool and Mining Pool looks like what we had before.

What does this tell us?

Which different reporting?

Break Down Last 500 blocks = 67.8% signaling

Scrypt-Signal: 79 /500 = 15.8 %
Scrypt: 24 /500= 4.8%

Sha-Signal: 67 /500 = 13.4%
Sha: 35 /500 = 7%

Groestl-Signal: 14 /500 = 2.8%
Groestl: 87 /500 = 17.4 %

Skein-Signal 80 /500 = 16%
Skein: 19 /500 = 3.8%

Qubit-Signal: 99 /500 = 19.8%
Qubit: 0 /500 = 0%

I'm referring to the data as seen in the screen shots of each mining pool that I posted 4 posts ago.

607  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Core 0.10 upgrade on: April 15, 2017, 08:22:59 AM
Quark as it stands now is well known . . .

Can we clearly express in 20 words or less just what that is?

We need a starting point, and if we don't know where we've come from or who we currently are, then I would argue that trying to do anything with that basis would indeed be "pissing in the wind".

Like the old saying goes, "don't put the cart before the horse".

What is Quark well known for?

I would also stress the need to try and frame the response in positive since negative thinking usually leads nowhere.

I will work on my summary description and post later. Hopefully we'll have something to compare.

Cheers,

You must not have been around Quark in November/December 2013 there were only a handful of crypto coins on coinmarketcap.com back then and Quark had a all new algo and new security features and was CPU optimized as lots could already foresee the mining monopoly bitcoin was heading toward. Quark was the most innovative creation back then.

So I should say that those who have been following this space since 2013 know Quark and Quark is famous. I apologize for my poor use of language, I am an Aussie so slang comes naturally to me.

Sorry, but I'm not talking about what Quark was. It's not about what it was, and even less so what those of us who were around in 2013 remember it to be. Quark is no longer famous like it was. It's a fading memory for those who remember it.

It's about what Quark is NOW. Obviously the CPU optimized angle no longer works as a marketing strategy. The "all new algo" needs revamping into something like "one of the most secure", for example. What else does it have that can be leveraged into a PR slogan? Still a widely distributed p2p? I think so.

What do you guys have to say about Quark's current positive points? (Reading your posts one gets the idea that you want to throw everything out with the bath water.)

Edit: Disappointed whale dumps 66 million DGB, but before I posted this. Not my fault!  Cheesy

Just now: 80 million on a hammer down to 51 that closed at 57 (5 min chart). Ouch. The same guy?

Maybe it´s not a guy but a Coinexchange like Litebit.eu dumping a few of the coins they "bought" in the last days.

https://www.litebit.eu/en/buy/digibyte

Could be, but that kind of dumping is indicative of poor money/trade management and I wouldn't expect companies like Litebit to be guilty of that. But anything is possible. They also have restrictions on much they buy and sell at any one time, which you can get around a bit by storing up credits, but even then the amount of coins "available" to be bought or sold is still no where near the amount necessary to cause them to have to immediately "offload" risk in such drastic fashion. That price action looks very emotional to me . . . anything but professional money management.

Edit: the "pros" were most likely on the buy side. Wink

Its not a whale its litebit who dump dgb. This could be indicative of them being in conspiracy with large segwit manipulator. He/she owns most altcoins including dgb since it has the capability to overtake bitcoin and even apple. 60 million dgb are worth nothing compared to the same quantity of apple shares and this is unfair. Think of this as an investment opportunity of ur life.

Perhaps you're right. It sounds like you know more about it than I do. I'll just say that I've done a fair amount of business with LiteBit and they strike me as being competent, honest, hard working folks. I've never had a problem with them. In fact, the exact opposite: whenever an issue arises, they're on top of things with an almost immediate response. I have nothing but good things to say about them and they've never given me any reason to believe that they'd do anything that wasn't in their best interest, like, say, picking sides with different coins. They're an intermediary and I'd be very surprised if they stepped out of that role, especially if it meant an instant loss of their entire spread made on the amount dumped. But anything's possible.

As for their possibly being involved in a conspiracy with a large SegWit manipulator, again, I don't see them engaging in that type of activity, but if they were to, how would dumping DGB affect SegWit?

what time line this masternode upgrade having?

will there be a governance/voting addition?
will there be developer funding block tax?
what form of anon are we going for?

interesting news but how long is implementation going to be?

we aim for whitepaper release at DMD 4th birthday
and the wallet release not much later
so the goal is a summer release

we aim to have a voting system but we wont link any MN tax system
we see a voting system as a way to get feedback

we will have a small development funding mechanism but not in a way that it cut MN rewards on each block

we will start with "normal" anonymous transaction as dash invented it
but we aim to evaluate other mechanism too as example pivx is researching based on zerocoin protocol

we have a new DMD Diamond Foundation Member who will join us as CTO and lead developer
an stick with us not just for DMD v3 release but also for upcoming improvements that will be added later on

so dont worry about ongoing development but still we wont play testcoin for new technologies
but follow our strategie of adding proven and secure technologies to expand DMD Diamond abilities

sounds good need to top up my diamonds...

I only suggest at least a 10% development fund at least....pivX success is a lot to do with many devs funded by bounties to complete many tasks very quickly. The crypto sphere does not hang around. First movers take most of the lions share. You have to gauge the risk of being a semi test net and first mover. Dash has some glaring errors in their code on main net but that was out weighed by their first mover and excitement created by those moves.

Could you outline some of those errors in Dash's code on main net?

I say we run a contest and give the winner "the boot".

The contest is to see which is the last algo to signal SegWit, and the winner gets "the algo swap" in favor of a more widely distributed, fairer, and more end user friendly algo.

Let it be known and make it happen.

You can't have your cake and eat it too!

Send those ingrates packin'.    Cool

Edit: looks like The Blocks Factory (scrypt, sha-256, skein) and Mining Pool Hub (all pools) still haven't upgraded .

I am willing to be involved and my skills are entrepreneurial business management and marketing. I can help with this side of the team as that is where I perform my best.

What can we do to get started moving ahead? some things that could be achieved this month that are a goal to work towards. I am willing to work.

That's great. I wonder what it would take from this point to bring back the qrk foundation. A lot of the original foundation had great skill in many areas.
Either that or we form our own foundation. I expect firstly though we need to drastically alter the dynamics of qrk itself. Max (the dev) seems open to this but has limited time hence we need to create a funding tax and bring on a team of designers/coders as very successful projects have done lately. With the correct development team a coin can be transformed very quickly.

I've already written about my bias for caution when considering changes and what I think that process might look like so I'll spare you a repost.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=260031.msg18485718#msg18485718

We've got to start somewhere though, and along with debating important technical changes, we've also got the PR/marketing side of things to consider. Perhaps coming up with a good slogan might be a good "baby step" to get the ball rolling? It would certainly open the door to broader discussions about what everyone thinks Quark should be and where it should be going, which could, in turn, lead into the tech realm. Entrepreneurial business management and marketing are fantastic skills with which to lead up the discussion.  Smiley
616  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Identify official BAIKAL skype!!!! please help let more people see. on: April 13, 2017, 03:06:22 PM

I'd be very careful buying directly from Baikal. Before they accepted only BTC and now it looks like only DASH. Either way you have no way of proving that you made payment. You HAVE TO TRUST them! That's no way to do business.

Best thing to do is to buy from a distributor who let's you pay with PayPal or credit card - so you have record of having paid.

You might even need proof of purchase if your order gets held up in customs!  Shocked

There's a lot that can go wrong, and with everyone who still has stock having doubled the price per unit in the last few weeks, it's somewhat strange that Baikal is still offering units at 300 USD equivalent.  Roll Eyes

Caveat emptor.  Cool

Hi all,

Just an update, the Baikals have now more than tripled, and the quads have risen by 600% +. A little nuts considering that you could buy 8 individuals for the price of one quad now. That "bubble" pricing. Totally illogical. And those are the prices coming out of China!

Again, Caveat emptor.  Cool

Quoting yourself doesn't make u right.
What exacly are u basing this price increase on because their website displays the same price as before.

You disagree? You have other prices? Can you find an individual Baikal for less than $1,000? A quad for less than ~5 times that? Even on e-Bay? Why don't you do your homework before asking others to do it for you?

https://fr.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=AS_20170324055125&SearchText=baikal+mineiro
http://www.ebay.com/itm/X11-X13-X14-X15-Quark-Qubit-Miner-Baikal-150M-40W-DASH-miner-/201639484575

The individual miners were sub $500 and the quads around $1,800 just a month and a half ago.

And if these are the prices being asked by those who still have stock to sell, do you think Baikal is really going to send you a unit for $300?

You want to talk to someone reputable in the States? Try here: http://deepinthemines.com/index.php?rt=product/category&path=43_74

You're welcome, but this was a one-timer for you. I don't respond twice to lazy people with attitudes.

People are trying to sell them for that price but people are not buying them.  I've seen the same ones on ebay since the price increase.
The most expensive sale I knew completed was £2,000 for a quad which is really high compared to Baikals manufactor price but like any business model it's supply and demand and you're gunna pay more to a middle man.    £2,000 still got an okish ROI compared with a BTC miner calculated at the top of the Dash spike so I can see how that sale happened.  They just didn't expect a price drop or gambled the price was gunna keep going.

I think the x11 community of miners have their eyes more open in terms of ROI experience than a BTC complete newbie and wont fall for paying the silly prices that are floating around the net at the moment.  If you do know anyone paying £10,000 for a quad let me know...(based off a mini on ebay costing £2,500 lololololol)

Just a note on these skype scammers.  They tried it on with me too but I thought it all sounded to shady so I dropped baikal direct emails.
I must say I am not a fan of how Baikal have reacted - to just point out the correct skype address is a bit poor.  I consider the fact Baikal have just made a new website so why not make the whole payment thing an easier better experience?  I mean by having the site calculate shipping etc and give you a total and a payment address (like bitmain website) This would have killed the scammers off and solved the problem.    If the webite does that then I retract the statement - I missed the stock so I wouldn't know,  just judging by the amount of ppl talking about skype scams.

I agree with everything you said and would just add that the lack of communication about current/future production/stock on Baikal's part makes things look even fishier. Very strange indeed considering that the product works quite well. Maybe they have financing problems? Maybe they're just shady characters? Who knows? But it's not very businesslike.

It also looks like they're now asking 799 for a single unit: http://www.baikalminer.com/product_view.php?ID=11

And they only take payment in BTC, LTC or DASH so you've got to trust them since there is no way you can prove having paid.  Sad

Did we have Auto Complete in the Console window before, or is that new too? (I know that others like BTC and LTC have it, but I don't remember that feature in DGB before . . .) It would be a new feature to list in the v6.14.2 release notes. Wink

There is a small issue with the input/output icons in Transactions - I've only got a little black box for both. Same thing for Debug window in the Help drop down menu (also, the DigiByte logo for About DigiByte Core in that same drop down menu is a black circle).

The "Subtract fee from amount" to send is a very nice addition as well (or was that always there and I'm so used to doing it manually that I just never noticed it?). Makes coin management all that much easier.

Where are the release notes leveraging ALL the improvements?

Might this be one of those issues resolved on Telegram?

The error message is pretty straightforward and easy for the tech savvy to resolve, but for the rest of the world, this would be a good example for a perfect FAQ post . . . okay, for miners . . . alright, I’ll admit it, it’s not that widespread, but most issues aren’t . . . hey, good enough for an FAQ, don’t you think?

I’d also like to congratulate on the splash screen instructing on the sync process. Very nice little detail that creates value.

BTW, my v6.14.2 install took a little under 3 minutes to open the first time after install, and now it opens in around 1 minute and 45 seconds.
