601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You find the keys for 15 [btc], but there is a catch, what do you do? on: September 14, 2023, 02:02:53 PM
I like how most of the replies are return it to the owner, cause there's a quote not your keys? Of course not your coins cause it's like already stealing if you taken that wallet even when you said the owner leave it open for people to steal it's always wrong. There's no bad thing if you're expecting something in return cause that amount is actually no joke. It might be hard to trace the owner so if you report it to the police or any authority I think it would be useless plus there's a lot of hackers and scammers once they found out your information holding huge amount of BTC. It's like you're carrying the responsibility so a giving you something in return would be appreciated.
602  Economy / Economics / Re: Building wealth it's not just one time Luck on: September 14, 2023, 01:33:26 PM
I have recently seen a TV programme ("how to get rich" or something like that, in Netflix, not an eye-opener at all) where a man invested 20k USD in zoom at the beginning of the pandemic and his investment hit in a few days 150k. Long story short: he eventually lost money because he waited too much to withdraw and reinvested in shitty stocks in Robinhood.

In addition, today a colleague has told me that a professor of him won the lottery with some friends, and all of them ended bad (dead, addicted or ruined).

So I can't agree more with your thesis, OP, and the fact that most people I have talked with about it don't believe it only corroborate that idea.

Most likely they got overwhelm with the amount of money they've won or received and did all the things that they haven't done before such as investing all your money in shitty coins/stocks, and trying out drugs which will eventual lead to killing yourself or ruined life, why? They did not manage their money cause they lack the knowledge, they have been blind by the big amount of money on their hands. If you have the money and don't have knowledge why not hire a financial tutor right so you would know to handle your money. Cause I believe even a million or thousands of money could get easily drained if you are keep consuming without reserving, saving and investing.
603  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Common Bitcoin ideas on: September 14, 2023, 01:06:55 PM
This brought me into thinking how do we make people understand Bitcoin properly in order to prevent them from being scammed and end up disliking the crypto space. Is introducing them into Bitcoin talk enough ? If no what else more can we do easily to make them actually get the idea of Bitcoin.

To answer your question, in my opinion, first and foremost, find the right person/people, if you just pick random people who doesn't actually need bitcoin, you will be forced to sell them Bitcoin as highly profitable investment because that's the easiest way to make anyone interested, and that will give them the wrong idea and motivation to get into Bitcoin.

If you actually want to introduce people to Bitcoin, find someone who actually needs Bitcoin as currency, maybe someone who do international transaction, they will be interested if you tell them there is a new kind of currency that is not controlled by any entity, the transaction is seamless and the fee is quite low.

Well it's actually true that if you want to learn something, you'll have to find a group of people who also shared the same interest as you because learning Bitcoin might sound forced. But I think this is only applicable to people who's open to interact with other people or what we call extroverts (if it's not online) cause for me it's too hassle to talk with other people so I've done my own research, but I joined into legit fellow people who started early and willing to assist newbies and group pages posting updates about BTC.

I actually pick people to introduced BTC, like my friend who's good at gambling and due to high amount of winnings he's planning what to do with the winning money so I introduced to him BTC as investment. By just simply telling it's worth profiting it would get them curious of course warned them about the risk
604  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ignore the new Apple toys & Invest in Bitcoin, history always repeat itself. on: September 13, 2023, 02:53:14 PM
having the latest iPhone or other luxury items can be a status symbol. people may feel pressure to keep up with their peers or to project a certain image. this desire for status can lead some individuals to make purchases they may not be able to comfortably afford. but there are other people who understands, this are the wrong things to waste money on and they save money for emergency or invest it for gains.

yes, not wasting money on useless things and investing it in any asset is profitable.

It's literally a brand to buy just to flex with everyone since we all know that iPhone is pricey even in other countries. Clout chasing and the peer pressure you feel when there's a new release model of iPhone is actually normal but it would really depends on the person on how they could handle it. Cause if you think it's really unnecessary despite the fact you can afford to buy an iPhone since your phone still working, then that's good a practicality and there's some people would still buy one even for a loan and a monthly pay. Just invest tho or save cause when you gain more profits, you could just easily buy one with no hassle of budgeting.
605  Economy / Economics / Re: Having a problem a Personal Finance? on: September 13, 2023, 02:36:03 PM
Maybe the reason you are not making progress is because you spend a lot
Sometimes what makes someone "Spend a lot of money", is because they don't have enough money to save as an emergency fund. Inflation is a disaster. Someone who was paid $100 five years ago is certainly different from someone who was paid $100 today. The problem is that many people working in developing countries are not seeing their wages rise enough to overcome inflation. That is a case that I often find in my country. Average People's salaries are around $300 - $400 per month. In rural areas it is much smaller.

If they do not "spend" the money they have earned that month, then they will not be able to meet their daily needs. Inflation growth of around 5-10% per year really makes people have no hope of saving their money.
The price of things have become so expensive because of inflation,  good amount of money that used to very valuable but this days it doesn't have any worth. The inflation is making things look as if people are mismanaging their money. In this present days it is not even easy to save money, the only solution for people to be able to save some money is either by getting a good paying job or by having aside hustle job and also a main job, this will help in getting some left over money as savings.

You'll need to sacrifice some of your time like your rest or time for your family because you have a side job that you need to go to. Before this was not the norm for people because one job was enough but now it is needed so that we can cope with the inflation because if we are not doing this we struggle and we can't buy our needs. Right now, people are in discipline mode mostly those who are minimum wage earners because their salary is not enough. That is only the solution as we can't rely on the government to increase the minimum wage so we will find our way to have another source of income.

This is my prof said in school cause some of my classmates before were absent in a exam day due to they are having a part time job. They'll have to sacrifice one cause if you tried to keep both in the same time, it would eventually destroy your mental and physical health which is really draining. Cause mostly in the minimum wages pay work are based on the time you've spent not on your efforts. To be honest I don't find having two jobs which both are minimum wages as a solution to these issues. It's either you'll wait for the government to take action about the salary or explore things that could get you out on that situation like trying small businesses for starters, mine was buy and sell where I'm having a little profits.
606  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hope is all I have left on: September 13, 2023, 02:08:26 PM
Apply to yourself the philosophy of people who are hoarding soil using a shovel, they do it little by little, over time it becomes a hill. There is always hope for those who believe in the potential that Bitcoin can bring. Eliminate your fear and worry about Bitcoin, do it according to the capabilities of the money you have. Even though investing in Bitcoin is not done in large amounts at once, you can get it in small amounts according to the amount of money you have.

I actually liked your post like by the use of shovel you can turn soils slowly into hills which I also like to add. We all agree with being optimistic and being consistent would eventually lead you to success in Bitcoin but it might take long. So as you gather more information and attain knowledge where you started from shovel it could be something like as excavator since you'd leveled up your skills and knowledge. Cause if you have the faith in Bitcoin but no knowledge, maybe you'll get stuck at shovel. Knowledge plus starting slow is the best to build your own hill which is your success.
607  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in your country. on: September 13, 2023, 01:33:58 PM
Well in the Philippines, government doesn't really have any restrictions about Bitcoin since there's a lot more of issues that they need to solve first than Bitcoin. Since Bitcoins is not that popular to the people here especially the adults one which they are not involved in crypto thinking its a fraud or a scam. Mostly the people who's involved are the new generation one due to they are influenced by the media and in the internet. Last time I've heard government concerning about crypto is about NFT game axie where they are trying to put taxes but they cannot since it's decentralized.
608  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Government vs Bitcoin on: September 12, 2023, 03:34:40 PM
The development of bitcoin is not something bad, but because bitcoin has a decentralized system, which means that it cannot be controlled by one party, the government issued policies to suppress the development of bitcoin, such as banning, prohibiting using bitcoin as a transaction tool, and others. Apart from that, quite a lot of people use bitcoin for illegal and other things, making the government create policies that put bitcoin in a corner.
There will be no government that does not want to accept technological developments, and with the presence of bitcoin, it is certain that they will have to accept that this is a reality that is happening. I really agree with you that Bitcoin is not a bad thing because it also helps for many purposes, but there is still an obstacle that the government cannot control properly. So it's not surprising that there are still many who enforce very strict regulations to prevent abuse by many people for interests that the government doesn't like.As long as the government is willing to make strict regulations, there is no need to worry, although goverment must remember to always stay updated on developments that occur.

Government literally want and accept any new technologies or innovations that could help the economy of a country. They cannot deny that these digital currencies have helped a lot of people with their financial which bounce back to the economy. Still they are not yet ready to fully acknowledged them due to they are still considered as threat to existing fiat currencies which also have negative effects to the economy because that's their resources their own currency such as USD. Indeed that government are taking a restrictions and regulations but some country won't fully banned it since they are still a help lowkey cause they are decentralized. For government govern for a long time for sure they have a lot of ideas and information so in short they are not dumb on how crypto works and would literally have analysis as well.
609  Economy / Economics / Re: What did elon do wrong in Twitter on: September 12, 2023, 01:39:05 PM
Wait a minute I used to think online is the next generation if your not going online your toast but elon musk just lost funds in Twitter trying to take it fully online. He sacked almost all the employees ,replaced them with bots and now he is trying   to sell it . Don't mistake me I'm not trying to criticise the dude but i don't get why this happened for real his plan was nice trying to reduce cost of work . But what went wrong
Twitter usage is really going down I think the app is more boring . What do you think we all know elon this might be another business Strategy right Undecided

Especially in the last two years, Elon has made great manipulations in financial markets using Twitter and has increased his popularity considerably. He bought Twitter because he is the richest person in the world and earns more money while increasing his popularity through this social media. Although there has been no good progress for Twitter after this purchase process it has been managing the platform with the decisions it has been making for a long time.

Well he indeed used Twitter for promoting any coins he want such as Shiba which really manipulated it's price and many people invested at it. Not only due to he is rich that's why he bought Twitter, we all know that Twitter is the most known platform worldwide and it has many users so just a simple Tweet there's a lot of people could get the information. I think he's just slowly progressing for people to not be overwhelm from the big changes of Twitter to becoming as X, cause by just simply changing the logo and it's name there's already a lot of comments about it what more if the entire Twitter. Just wait for it, for sure he's planning again for manipulating something with the use of X or he will announce big news.
610  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wife discovers husband's hidden Bitcoin during divorce proceeding on: September 12, 2023, 01:30:45 PM
To the not-yet-tied guys and gals out there. If you don't want your soon-to-be companion in life to touch your holdings, just get into a prenuptial agreement of what you own like assets in crypto or real estate or as in anything. It's an agreement for those that you haven't heard it yet.
And this is also the reason why many marriage got their own downfall when they don't agree to each other in terms of finance, assets and investments. That's why before you tie the knot, make it sure that both of agreed to the likes of each other and accepts whatever it is because both of you are on your behalf and have each other's back.

Even if the both parties are on any sort of blood oath I still don't think that would prohibit the other from eyeing the property of the other.
Some of these marriages happens because of what the man or woman have. With that kind of marriage you expect them to stay together till they die? Even if their vow includes in sickness and in health till death do us part? No way is that happening in any part of Africa I think.

Exactly, cause if you're gonna get married you will look for someone that's capable of being financially educated and can manage by himself. Let's say you love the person no matter what even he doesn't have a job or any money sources still you've married him/her. For sure they wouldn't last long, health is wealth but in case of emergencies it might be a problem to take out an empty pocket. Some people would even marry someone's already rich so they can build their own career which I think it's really normal, cause people tend to love their own careen than their love ones cause for sure you'll love someone who's really providing for both of your needs.
611  Economy / Economics / Re: Building wealth it's not just one time Luck on: September 11, 2023, 09:42:54 PM
I already know that using a $50 trading capital was impossible to make it $1,000 in just a few days but can possibly be made for years. And with that long, I'm not sure I still have the courage to trade with that amount, that seems too boring for sure. In this case, I wasn't thinking of becoming rich either.

That's a way too long for becoming rich if you'd just stick at $50 in many years right. Maybe you'll achieve $1000 if you regularly invest $50 not only as your starting capital. Cause that would take long and you'll get tired and bored as well losing your passion to invest. If you can't afford to invest regularly try to find a extra legal money sources that could help you invest.

Quote
Building wealth never happens too easily unless you are a rich person already but like me who doesn't have that much money to start, that might be just a dream as it only has less possibility to happen in real life.

Well we can say that rich people have it easy, cause the connections and the capital to make yourself richer is always been there. But comparing yourself isn't necessary since we all have different pace on attaining our goal and it might take long but we'll get there soon.
612  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do we benefit in lies in forum on: September 11, 2023, 09:02:26 PM
We can't stop such testimonies because they are personal and people are free to share them with forum members. Anyway, it's not a big issue. I don't know why it would prejudice someone to hear a fake personal story involving Bitcoin and a random person you don't even know.

The chances are that these fake stories can do more good than bad, since they are motivational, despite being fictional. It's like watching a movie or reading a book: it's still fictional, but you don't feel mad for that reason. It's quite the opposite, as you feel encouraged and entertained.

Exactly, since this is a forum everyone are free to share whatever they like to share only the mods could do anything about it such as delete it since it's part of the rules in the forum to post such threads with informative information and much better based on fact. Fake or not it would really depends on the person on how they would apply it to themselves because if you've been here in the forum for too long maybe you'll get tired of false stories.
613  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What type of advice is worth giving such people? on: September 11, 2023, 12:55:21 PM
Well if it's about Bitcoin, I have never experienced being hacked my wallet which contains important funds such Bitcoin since I am aware of scams and hackers from my past experience. It's not Bitcoin like ETH or any other altcoins since I am trying other things to invest like in the NFT, I've noticed I have an NFT which what we called "airdrop" and I thought it was free and I carelessly clicked it which caused to my funds get drained.

So from that experienced, which I applied to my wallets that have Bitcoin. My tips is to never leave important information in your computer for the hackers to get accessed from it, they might explore it but they couldn't get anything from it since they don't have the key. Plus don't just connect to a free WIFI cause there's a case in the PH, where it contains virus.

615  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin obsession! on: September 10, 2023, 02:08:48 PM
Call me crazy but the way I think is different from many others, there is good obsession and bad obsession, you can be obsessed with something that will take your life and you can be obsessed with something that will build your life.

Addiction to investment is better than Addiction to lust, you can lose money and you can make money, but with lust you can lose your life, lots of infections here and there, you can end up with HIV and STDs.

Addiction to Bitcoin investment is also different from addiction to gambling, my advice is to know what you will get addicted to, I always watch myself carefully with gambling because I don't want to get addicted to it, but it's not the same with Bitcoin addiction.

Bitcoin is more reliable than gambling, one is more risky and damaging than the other, Choose wisely.

That's actually a good point, but addiction is addiction it might sounds good since in Bitcoin you could profit and earn money but for sure being addicted to it will cost something in your life like your health, you are way too focused in BTC that you forgot to eat, rest and exercise things like that.

Due to being addicted to it losing some money and doesn't have funds to invest would lead to selling properties or loan so when worse case scenario happened, it would eventually lead to lose of life like suicide. I think you're preferring about it as a hobby but don't call it as an addiction because there would be a negative side effect
616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do we benefit in lies in forum on: September 10, 2023, 01:32:12 PM
As you said especially "newbies" it's either they are telling the truth cause they might have the experience but only new in the forum and they are posting such story so they could get merits. If you are just a newbie and you've read such a positive story, of course it would have a great affect to you that could motivates you to pursue this industry but if you are an old member of the forum you could already tell the truth and the fake by just providing proofs and based on facts information. Some people also love new topics since they would have a new discussion especially the people in the signature campaign which they have to post informative interaction with people. Still the best to interact is when it is actually real.
617  Economy / Economics / Re: Teaching My Nephews About Wealth Through the Game of Monopoly on: September 10, 2023, 12:12:17 PM
I am thinking about teaching my nephews about wealth in a fun way through the game of Monopoly. I haven't gotten any better way to teach them about money and wealth aside this. I think so because of the lessons embedded in the game which includes,

(a) to build wealth, you need to own assets an not liabilities

(b) to build wealth, never put all your eggs in one basket. Always diversify your investment portfolio.

(c) to build wealth, you must  have proper and strong financial management strategies. Anyone who wants to be wealthy must learn how to manage their money, make the right investment and be able to pay off their debts.

(d) to build wealth you should be able to think strategically. Having a long term thinking in mind will enable you to make better decisions.

(f) to build wealth, you must have a well thought out risk management strategy in place.

(g) to build wealth, you cannot overlook the role that patience plays. Wealthy people are very patient people. They know when to make a move and when to hold on. They they understand that true wealth isn't built overnight but through years of hardwork.

These are some of the financial and wealth lessons that I think that my nephews can learn from playing the game of Monopoly. I am opened to your recommendations for other types of games that can be a great alternative or addition to this game as a fun way to teach kids about wealth.

There's a lot of rules and how the game works can be apply in the real life. I think give them some small amount of money as the money will be used in the game cause the kids with that they would really care and be focused more in the game especially the mechanics. Cause if they played that for long not only they will get used to it but it would have an impact to their behavior, mindset and decision making. Well when I was a kid me and my siblings are playing games such as store games and every players has given a limited amount of money so they would be the one who's gonna budget the money and the longest one to survive are the winner. Every foods has a label if how long they could survive. The other player is setting the price in the market so they would be really need to be careful.
618  Other / Off-topic / Re: Everybody WILL hear the letters BTC. on: September 09, 2023, 05:24:28 PM
Well maybe people got curious about the taxi and search BTC in google then first thing would pop up would be Bitcoin so maybe I got your point on making this post xD. After reading this thread by the OP first thing that comes to my mind is the BTS thing where it has been used as Behind the Scenes but the kpop group BTS where it's fan attacked the video which is literally a brain dead. So let's not reach that kind of scenario and let people discover Bitcoin on their own. Maybe if it's a trademark they could file a case but btc is decentralized.
619  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Big is the online gambling industry today? on: September 09, 2023, 04:50:24 PM
With the development of the Internet and smartphones, the online gambling market in the world is growing stronger. This boom is due to the growing trend of digitalization and the loosening of regulations related to online gambling. Many countries have accepted the legalization of sports betting.
This development is so strong we can see that people will play it. Even all classes of society can easily access this gambling game.

Almost every app or sites especially the illegal one, you could always see pop-up advertisement about online gambling, by those simple ad there's no wonder online gambling are starting to increase espcially nowadays. Plus the convenience it gives and fun wherever you are as long as you are connected with the internet you could be big time winner or loser.

Quote

''I saw a child using a phone to gamble. Will this be a harmful effect worth reporting?''

If every online gambling would mandatory have age limit like 18+ where they would be needing ID plus the face check if it's legit maybe it would decrease the numbers of minors gambling. There's a lot of negative effects of gambling to kids not only to money but to their behavior and mindset as well, cause most kids have the feeling of competitive and would eventually want to recover their losses and led to addiction.

620  Economy / Economics / Re: Building wealth it's not just one time Luck on: September 09, 2023, 04:24:15 PM
Wealth is could be earned by luck but it's not applicable to all people, so you would really need to earn it by working hard, being consistent, being knowledgeable and disciplined. So let's say that $50 dollar won't be enough for you to become wealthy to invest are you just gonna wait for your luck to achieve? People would literally take extra jobs or part time if you're a student just to have enough funds to invest. Well those examples you've mentioned might be needing a huge amount but little business would acttually a good start cause most successful person achieve it with experience. Luck and opportunity won't be siding on you if you can't even make an action to attain financial freedom.
