Bear in mind, in summer 2013 Risto went to mental ward and bitcoin rose (Risto's main holdings). Now as Risto was under the threath of mental ward it might also act similarly but with XMR this time.  Cool

Currently it looks like XMR/BTC trading pair in Poloniex is the largest source of trading source of bitcoins (the next one is BitMex with BTC/USD and the third one is Bitfinex BTC/USD trading pair).

Do we hear the mountains tremble?  Roll Eyes

Nice to see XMR strength. Even my "short" is underwater  Grin
(of course I would never short)

I still advice caution because the upside is so limited. The 0.01 area will either
1) be breached, in which case it will certainly be revisited
2) be reached, in which case you can just nibble in
3) be bounced, sending us back to 0.0058 or worse.

So even if I am regarding 1)&2) to have much higher probability now than a new low (in a 2-week timeframe), it still makes more sense to wait than buy just now.

And why is everyone suspicious of my personal agenda? Tongue

Because without it you would not have a castle.

The biggest problem with me is to know to how to read you.
Are you bullish while looking for selling opportunity (being bearish in your mind) or are you bullish while thinking other players think you are looking for selling point and therefore you are not looking a selling point but a buying point.

Why all the trading advice all of a sudden?

TL;DR: I just lost my family and fled my country. So I am finally able to speak up!

PHOTO

During his teens, Risto Pietilä was among the top of the youth in his country. He attended the historical Hämeenlinnan lyseo high school, the alma mater of President J. K. Paasikivi and composer Jean Sibelius. In the 1990s, Pietilä was selected to several youth exchange programs etc., in Italy, Japan, Thailand and Australia. (This was extremely rare for anyone in Finland in the 1990s.)

Pietilä ranked in top-4 in the national Chemistry competition all of the 3 years he attended, won the Mental arithmetics competition all the 3 years he attended, and was twice a Chemistry olympiad delegate, once scoring a bronze medal. He graduated with 5 laudatur.

After serving 9 months compulsory conscription in voluntary special forces unit Pori Brigade, Rapid Deployment Force (combined field, APC driver, UN and Nato military/"peacekeeper" training), with the most "kuntoisuusloma" (extracurricular leave granted based on personal achievements) in his unit, he continued his studies in Helsinki University of Technology, department of Industrial Engineering and Management.

He rejected the grant from Helsinki School of Economics, but chose to major in Economics nevertheless in the HUT (now: Aalto University). He participated in Mensa IQ test in 2003, scoring 167 points. Soon afterwards, he became a conscientious-objector-in-reserve, and has not participated in Nato military exercises since 2000 (South Norway).

His first company was founded at the age of merely 20, after less than a year of studies. The company, Jamera Networks (nowadays simply Jamera) reached the operational capability of 80 simultaneous buy/sell teams deployable in any location in the country, this in addition to about 10 fixed locations. Pietilä's involvement discontinued in a corporate ouster in 2003. The company was hailed as being the most profitable in (the county of) Central Finland in ~2011.

He decided to take it easy for some time, got married, and devised other business ideas, including the first-in-the-world system of car rental based on immediate car takeover upon need (no bookings).

In 2006 Pietilä saw the financial crisis approaching, and paid airtime to get his voice heard through a new national alternative TV-channel "Heaven TV7" of which he had previously cornered 1.5% of ownership. The 3-hour live show became so successful that it was re-broadcast several times and Pietilä has since been featured both in radio and TV in "crisis watch" programs. He has been featured in every Finnish TV channel plus whole-page in the largest newspaper.

The same year Pietilä began dealing in physical investment metals. The business got bigger only in 2008 after some free publicity from the government of Finland. Connected to these activities, Pietilä has co-owned and co-operated hopea.fi (2006-2013), Scenario Investments Oy (2006-2010), Eesti Investeerimishõbe OÜ (2009-), Silverbank (2010-2016), Crypto Holding (2010-). In total, more than 100 people have invested in Pietilä's companies over 15 years, and they have had more than 100,000 clients. The market cap of the companies is 1...a few MEUR each.

Knowing about cryptocurrencies since the beginning, Pietilä has selected Bitcoin, Monero and Crypto Kingdom to be his picks. They are massively on the black among the thousands of scams. Pietilä's trading skills include Bitcoin price manipulation until 2013, and Monero manipulation until 2015. (Please note that merely having the resources to manipulate such global currencies does not mean it has actually happened). He is usually counted among TOP-100 in worldwide cryptocurrency scene. Only if the evaluator's whole career coincides with Pietilä being largely out of the limelight, she may make a mistake on this one.

Over a full 20 years, Pietilä has written in BBSs, messaging boards, blogs and related media, more than 10,000 posts. Bitcointalk alone is more than 7,000 posts. Pietilä is holiday-proficient in 8 languages and writes academically in English and occasionally Finnish (the latter being his native language).

Some extreme actions have been directed against Pietilä by the rulers of Finland, including:
- hijack, sabotage and ouster from his first company (2003)
- armed confiscation of all his assets followed by a sea of illegal procedure (2008)
- nationwide media campaign for character assassination (2011)
- extrajudicial incarceration in mental facility and forced medication until suicidal (2013)
- fled for his life from Finland and left behind family who wanted medication to happen again (2016)

It is because of these events that Pietilä now considers that he has been declared as a public enemy. In actions of self-defence, Pietilä has supported numerous anti-government/anti-nato/anti-deep state groups since 2004 with sums of up to 7-figures.

Also he has designed and made:
- a 100% physical silver backed currency system Silverbank,
- an unregulated and indestructible free trade/exchange platform Crypto Kingdom, and
- is currently executing Kansanmarkka, a debt-free basic income currency, designed to oust Euro from Finland (and the world) by voluntary choice by the people. Participation in Kansanmarkka is free, you actually get paid.

He received his first official death threat 3 weeks ago. He has bought a large, secure, castle-like manor compound in rural Estonia and will continue the fight to liberate Finland (and the world) from there, unfettered by family.

The family's best response to heroic activism - which is very sad to reveal - has for a decade been: "check your head". Allegations to question his mental stability, Pietilä generally labels as gaslighting. This did not prevent him from "checking his head" by his weekly psychotherapist, who just 48 hours ago, after Pietilä's stresses of fleeing the country and losing family, gave him unconditional green light.

People are eager to believe things that interact with their own "reality". So if they are delusional, they are more likely to interpret others' actions as delusional also. If they are freedom activists, they are more likely to side with the activist.

In spite of the challenging tone of the post, the loss of two my own small and dear children to the hands of delusional people, hurts me very much. I do not hold my breath that this post would make them realise their erroneous, delusional thinking. In all likelihood it is doing the opposite. For me, however, holding the truth back in an attempt to pacify the idiots and the insane, has just ended.

I am not completely safe despite the disclosure. Common sense tells you that a man like me would be mad to drop his guard, no matter how well-armed in his own castle. I am choosing to write this instead of hiding it, because unlike during the previous assaults on my property, liberty and life in 2013, 2011, 2008 and 2003, now the time seems to be about ripe for turning some tables.

I had bet for Clinton to win, not that I supported her or believed she would gain the majority of votes, but just because establishment wants their martial law and can rig the election to ensure it. This is truly an interesting time to make happen.  Smiley

ADD: Sorry my ex-family members that I repeatedly call you idiots, insane, and delusional. But you have to understand that it is exactly what you are. To handle your own cognitive dissonance, you have tortured me with the same allegations ever since 2008 the minimum. Despite all that domestic violence, I have achieved what I have achieved. I have no intention to ever allow people in my life again, who do not acknowledge my achievements and/or label me as crazy. You know why? Because being crazy is an opinion, but I am not stupid. That is a fact.

I am sure you are going to ignore me by saying this  - I do not care if you do so because I have very little to lose in that scenario.
But my recommendation to you is to go back to your wife and children. If they tell you to take medicines, then take them. If they say you need to go a psychiatrist, go and get the paper (s)he writes.
A wife and children are among the biggest blessings in life of a man and a real man doesn't offer the biggest blessings of a life for "principles of being right". Acknowledge she is a wise woman and is able to discern (generally women are quite good in discerning) and thank her for telling the truth. Even if her truth might be different than your truth.
625  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 09, 2016, 02:15:47 PM
About 12-14 more days, and then capitulation near 0.0044.

You told us not to buy XMR shortly before it went up around 25%. "Luckily" I was in.
Thx for advice but I will follow my own.

Very smart move. Risto is talking to his book like basically everybody here. Some are more vocal than others but the bottom line is the same: if an entity owns coins (s)he tends to be biased towards his position (even non-intentionally).
Bear in mind, in the very long run this volatility is simply background noise. When Monero reaches 10 000 usd price point it really doesn't make that much difference if you have bought your coins at 1 usd, 10 usd or even 100 usd. The most important thing is you still hold you coins in your bags.
626  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 31, 2016, 08:39:56 PM
He has been flip flopping back an forth talking his book ever since he joined this thread, he was way more obnoxious in the beginning switching sentiment very often.

I see. As I am new since a few months ago I truly believed he was 100% for Monero. I was baffled at his latest post to be honest haha.

I am not 100 % for Monero.. I have been repeating it over and over again.
I have relatively diversified portfolio in general, not even close 100 % in XMR and as I have said it earlier it is stupid to invest in one asset class (unless you are a gambler and love taking risk even if you lose).
I think the future of Monero is still good with or without official GUI. The webwallet is decent and easy enough to use + you do not need to download anything to your desktop.

I am not flip flopping and I do not recommend to sell on the bottom, some of my bids are still untouched and most likely the majority will not be taken because that requires quite extreme volatility.

That being said, I have told long long time ago that I am interested in Z-cash and I see their strengths. I think Monero serves a niche (junkies, criminals and other DNM clients and vendors + enthusiasts).
Z-cash most likely might be the choice for official currency like fiat is nowdays.
I think both Monero and Z-cash can coexists and I am considering investing a small amount of money (1-2 btc) into it in case it will become great.
The problem is the Zcash is waaaay over valued and I think the realist price for me to get in is around the same I got into XMR (0.00255 which is the break even price I have bought my Moneros).
627  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 30, 2016, 06:03:31 AM
I think it is prudent to waite to which level Zcash will settle and then buy some. I am pretty confident it will be valuable as well - it might even gain official currency status somewhere. The stength of Zcash is its community. Only the super pumped price prevents me from buying some.

For Monero, it is a currency for everyday people and probably chosen by drug dealers and drug addicts. Monero is a decent currency but I am afraid the Zcash has done things better. No, tech is not the most important thing and as we can see from the current system, Zcash type of solution with the brightest minds probably in the world + supposedly a lot of money backing is a way to success, but as I said, personally I would waite until the price settles somewhere and not to go all in. Buying just some in case of it will overtake Monero.

Somebody asked about the GUI, it will probably not be released any time soon (might be that the developers need to rebuy before the release).
628  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: All polo coins dropped due to zcash? on: October 29, 2016, 04:19:59 PM
NRG and your sockpuppets:

You and me (+ friends of mine) have completely different approach to Monero and crypto in general.
You are a player which I used to be also 2014-2015. Playing the volatility can be profitable if you make sure you have set stop-losses and let the profits run a bit longer (you will end up getting positive expected value).
My approach on the other hand is I am an investor and I am looking for picking up the low hanging fruit instead of trying to pinpoint cents from every small movement.
I am aiming higher than a few pennies here and there.
Even though Monero might stay at 0.004 for entire 2017 I am not going to sell but consider buying more.

Zcash I am also looking into once the price stabilizes somewhere, but I want to see it stabilizing first and see what the bottom is, no I am not even imagining to catch exactly the bottom because I am investing into it, not playing.

I have lost 0 bitcoins, 0 Moneros and 0 dollars unlike you are claiming all the time.
629  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [ZEC] Zcash Speculation on: October 29, 2016, 04:05:19 PM
So guys do you think it is smart to diversify some bitcoins also to Zcash when the inflation start hitting?

Personally I am a little interested in this because I find it a good investment if I can get it for fair price. Why I think it is good investment? The reason: it has probably the brightest minds in the world in its team (in case Mossad is involved). Also as there are involvement of Jews so money should not be the problem..  Cheesy
630  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: All polo coins dropped due to zcash? on: October 29, 2016, 05:59:01 AM
Zcash will be worth less than Monero.
That sort of emission creates a lot of negativity as people who bought it at the peak regret for doing so and probably will never touch it again.
Facing like 99.5 % loss of capital is not nice.

The alts are not dropping because of zcash but because of the early stage of bitcoin rally. Towards the bitcoin peak alts will have insane rally and at that very point Monero might rise 100 times (like many alts did back in 2013).

Up to now, Monero belongs to the elite of altcoins and a lot of early adopters are interested in Monero as well so it is Monero that will most likely rise at the peak of bitcoin rally.
631  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 29, 2016, 05:35:58 AM
Risto's statement of not having good news ahead might imply that indeed the GUI will not be released...

I have my bids in the market and they are set up in the manner that they will taken when Monero is beaten from live in a brutal manner.
632  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 28, 2016, 06:35:44 PM
With the release of Zcash and the huge investment it will get from people who don't realize its a huge scheme cooked up by the Mossad or NSA or something,
I expect Monero to lose both volume and value for a bit.

Hopefully people wake up and realize that Zcash is seriously flawed and very likely nefarious,
and move back to Monero,
but people are fucking retarded.

Retarded is right, zcash futures reached something like 1.7 or 1.8 BTC per....

first trade on Polo was  .0001 ZEC @ 2500 BTC  Cheesy
ROFLMAO!! Paying .25BTC just to totally fuck with the chart !!

The problem with ZEC is there is very few coins and hardly nobody dumps, that's exactly what I would like to see also within Monero. The number of coins in exchange being almost 0 and a lot of eagerness to get some coins.
Bear in mind, the volumes are so low that the price is irrelevant.
633  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 28, 2016, 11:13:19 AM
My short term outlook is negative. There is a somewhat likely scenario that XMR does not have positive news, 0.01 is tested and fails, and BTC continues to look good.

In this case, nothing is preventing testing 0.004. That one will hold Smiley

That pretty much depends on the whales if they want to crucify Monero until it is dead (and help it later to resurrect as well).
In the same manner as the fiat currencies are controlled by the centrla bank, Monero is controlled by the whales. If a whale (not to mention Cthulhu) wants the price to go down, the small fish basically cannot prevent it from not doing so.
I think that is also a weakness of the current state of Monero (and crypto in general). It is controlled by very small club who can and will manipulate the price to their favor.

In case a whale wants to dump, I have some bids on the way to the grave.
634  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 28, 2016, 04:29:41 AM
What happened to TrueCryptonaire??

The signs were clear a month ago... BTC was on the verge of a rise and alts would clearly get demolished. Some folks still don't learn

Bitcoin is now Pump that have a certain amount of drain at a higher price in November will drop to 400-500$ and maybe less altcoins the rest will go to the mountain.

Btc will rape the altcoins in November..... Prepare for carnage if you are not in btc and holding some worthless alts when btc breaks the last ATH and STAYS up there!

BTC will dump in Nov - Dec to unkown.

You have no idea what you're talking about

2017 is looking to be a better year than 2016

I am waiting for the Monero dump but apparently there is nobody willing to fill my bids anymore.  Cry

Well shit, TC, why didn't you say so. All I gots to do is buy more XMR and the price will drop right into your pocket!

j/k sort of. I am still bullish and way too much in...

I buy when the price slides down. Monero likes down hill and it has always been like this. Monero usually drops 5-10 % and bounces after that 3-5 %  and thus the price slightly declines so it requires some patience and long term planning to acquire Moneros.
Every once and while (1-3 times a year) the price rises to the peak where it is possible to sell some coins. Dumping is not recommended at the peak because it lowers the amount of bitcoins you get from the buyers. Much better strategy is to put asks in front of the spot and waite until some bullish guy comes to pick them up. Never sell all your Moneros either because there is always potential to rise higher.

TC, What is it in particular about the current state of Monero as a whole that makes you believe a best case scenario can and will pan out?
I for one believe what you write COULD potentially happen, but as far as i have learnt its not actually very likely at all.

What indications for success can you see that i cannot? I'll admit your posts grabbed my attention around the start of September and as a result i bought in (No regrets here) however after being here for some time, i feel that maybe its just a strategy of yours (I remember you talking about a self fulfilling prophecy that just believing strongly enough then it will happen is a driving force in itself to make it happen)

In other news, i watched a video that talked about why bitcoin has not had mass adoption and it raised some pretty good points. In particular that in general, back end programmers simply do not have the required expertise in transactional buisness, promotion and marketing to really bring such a groundbreaking technology to the public. When i learnt about crypto, it took me hours of learning before i truly saw the bigger picture and i am just an average joe (In crypto terms anyways).

To me this indicates that we need an obvious incentive for new users and not just promise of a grand vision (That a lot of people will simply not have the time to realise themselves)

I sure hope this thing does pan out like some of you guys predict. But from were i am stood if this is to happen we as a community need to seriously innovate on a kind of marketing strategy at least to promote the coin now things are getting more competitive

I am not 100 % convinced the best case scenario will pan out. I am convinced enough to hold some coins. Even if Monero goes to 0 I am not ending up tp bankcruptcy though because I have other assets as well which I recommend for everybody. Monero, and projects like these, are wild cards and I don't think it is a prudent move to be "all in".
However, I cannot forgive myself if I do not own enough coins to become rich if the best case (or even 2nd best or 3rd best) scenario pans out.
The odds in reaching high price is good enough to hold the coin (I don't think it is smart to hold Monero if the chances for 1000000000 X rise is let's say 1 % or 2 % even though the expected value might be lucrative but the odds are so low that basically you need to find dozens of projects like this to become rich with 1 project).

There are some indications of failure actually (the GUI soon -fiasco), that's not trolling, I am just honest here. Also there is 0 marketing as well which is very bad thing in my opinion (without people being aware of the existence of XMR nobody can buy it). Someone needs to give the face to XMR, make vlogs about it, go to events talking about it (I think the Pony does a little this). Marketing doesn't need to look tidy, just an ordinary guy/girl talking about it in the language to wide audience(s) everybody can understand without being The Pony.
I don't know what are you seeing when you are watching XMR but there is a decent community (even when the price was 0.001), the projects are getting funded in the blink of an eye with decent hourly salaries.

DNM are a good thing as well for Monero but I think Monero could reach high value even without them if the coin is going to be used for store of value. If that's a primary use case, it can reach high value even without GUI in my opinion.

I was bearish because the markets used to be bearish because old ATH of 0.0111 was untouched for so long time.
Currently I am semi bearish/semi bullish (the price is still above the previous trading range).

If you think XMR will reach to high numbers, you consider these cheap coins and lower your average purchasing price (in case you are underwater), if you are unsure, then you do nothing and waite what will happen and if you think "that's it, it is dead" then perhaps the best choice is to sell.
Personally I am willing to buy more and I have set my bids to the points I am willing to risk the amount of money I can afford to lose at that certain point.

Sorry for rambling.  Smiley

---

I was disappointed and pleasantly surprised at the same time. Pleased the price had appreciated, but disappointed that in 2 years so little seems to have been done in terms of adoption and software. Nothing seems to have really changed, XMR seems only to exist as a hedge to BTC(and has done it so well that it appears to have dethroned LTC) while daily usage has not really made any real headway. The wallet it still clunky, needing the daemon to be sync'ed before opening a barely improved wallet. Maybe I am being too harsh, but it has been over 2 years, not 2 months or even 6 months.

I was pleased to see that Risto, Smoothy, Icebreaker and a few old names are still here and supporters of XMR.

So in summary, over the past 2 days I have bought 945XMR at an average price of about .0104BTC. I am adding them to the 55XMR in my cold storage wallet.

My only question is... should I go away for another 2 years before checking on XMR again?

I would use Monero as a method of payment if there would be more places to use them (sure I could have done it via xmr.to) but it would be simpler just to use btc directly.
The other thing, I order quite little online because I need pretty much nothing and my costs are quite minimal. Together with my wife we spend around 1000 euros/month and that includes everything from housing to toothpaste.
However, it is nice to buy a gold coin or two a few times in a year and I see this a good opportunity to spend Moneros (last time I tried to figure xmr.to out it was not in use) - why not. Anyway I need to pay the gold coin so why not use XMR and replace the spent amount from Poloniex.
When Monero skyrockets, perhaps Risto will re-open the gold window and accepts Moneros directly...?  Grin
Perhaps there is a niche for ebay-type of service in Moneros? In my case, I would not care to sell the coins into Poloniex when the price rises but buy directly with Moneros from a trusted source. DNM are not the way I personally buy stuff because I have very limited need for the products/"services" they offer.
640  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 22, 2016, 09:10:08 PM
The fact is, in order the price to drop there has to be sellers.
The bagholder community has sold their excessive coins already on the way up to 0.0265.

As Risto said earlier, the risk-reward-ratio is getting appealing around current price (or slightly below). And I have to agree.

To me it simply appears there are short positions opened. The fact is, the shorters are future buyers - not sellers.

The current price is basically telling me there are no dark markets accepting Monero, therefore probably no bigger dump will take place anymore. The price of Monero would have gone 0.01 anyway this year thanks to lowering inflation.
Monero has achieved an approval of bagholders'-coin-of-choiceTM.
The price of Monero will grow as the bagholder community grows and when the tail emission is current the bagholder community might drive the price to crazy highs because it is in their best interest to have higher purchasing power and the relative cost to drive the price up as opposed the money burned is low.
