621  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will the companies accepting bitcoin continue to pour in? on: February 26, 2013, 10:09:18 PM
I love how bitcoin attracts all the assholes and dicks. It is just a magnet for gold bugs, speculators, tech guys, thefts, and real dick faces. Someone has a different opinion, god forbid.  To all the haters suck it fags.  Smiley
If you seriously think people are taking the mick out of you because you have a different opinion you really haven't read what you write have you?! - nor come to think of it, have you read the well reasoned responses people who should know better waste time in responding to you.

On the other hand if you are simply trolling then congratulations - if kidding people you mean what you say is a source of a sense of accomplishment for you then well done  Roll Eyes
622  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin-Central, first exchange licensed to operate with a bank. This is HUGE on: February 26, 2013, 09:39:09 PM

... it's a project that is in the pipeline on the bank's side, we have no precise ETA, but we know it should be rolled-out in a couple-of-months-ish.

Any news for the IBAN and acceptance of MtGox code as deposit/withdrawal method?
Regarding the Euro bank account is there a way in which, with my ID details already in Paymium's possession, I could have an Aqoba account set up within days so I have a Euro account from which I can send Euro SEPA transfers unrelated to Bitcoin Central; then when the linkup goes ahead, that both accounts be linked?
Aqoba is simply acting as a partner realizing the segregation of funds between Paymium's funds and the customers deposits. Unlike many other exchanges, Bitcoin-central (and paytunia) offers the same protection to depositors as any other payment institution. Your bitcoin-central account or paytunia account is a full fledged payment account (soon to be linked to a debit card and a unique IBAN number).
Thank you Boussac for the clarification.  If I have understood this right, even if I were able to open a personal Aqoba account it is not one I would subsequently be able to link to my Bitcoin Central account.  So if I need a Euro account for SEPA transfers sooner than this service goes live I am going to need to go elsewhere.

Thanks for the Fortuneo tip ghdp.  I will explore that as an option but maybe try some of the European banks in London too, even if it's just for language's sake.

It would be nice if I could be the first to break the gox all time high

someone alert me when we're close
You're not doing it rite. Just put in a sell order at 31.90991 for a unique small identifiable amount and wait.

i want to buy through not sell
Good luck with being the first through!

However, if it's anything like the $30 mark you may well have a few further opportunities to buy through Smiley

I do I know because everyone has had a death grip on their coins since the price spike. People use BTC for 2 things drugs and speculation.

I was going to write a sensible response to this nonsense but found it had already been done so instead:

Wow, aren't we privileged on the boards to have such a clairvoyant in our midst.  Without sublime5447 we would only be able to make fairly inaccurate guesses/estimations about how much people are holding/spending and why.  To now know as fact that drugs and speculation are the only reasons people are using Bitcoin is invaluable and does indeed prove how useless Bitcoin is in comparison with altcoinx which is soooo superior because of all the improvements and essential features that are absent from Bitcoin.

Thank FSM for sublime5447.  How otherwise would I know the thing to do right now is to sell all my Bitcoin and buy and spend altcoinx instead?
625  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin-Central, first exchange licensed to operate with a bank. This is HUGE on: February 26, 2013, 02:13:49 PM
Hm, did I read somewhere I would get my own IBAN in my Name after verifying my account?

My account is verified, but when clicking "deposit", it still gives me the "general" account info of paymium to transfer my EUR to.
That's not available yet, it's a project that is in the pipeline on the bank's side, we have no precise ETA, but we know it should be rolled-out in a couple-of-months-ish.

we're looking pretty steady and low volume today...

It is boring, but probably good for bitcoin  Smiley
Agreed.  It brings me more confidence that this will not turn into a bubble.  The longer it hangs around at any price being boring the more likely the 'in it only for a quick buck' posse are to get bored and go and find something else to blindly stick their dollars into.  My guess is we're better off without them because they are those who would also likely panic sell and exacerbate corrections increasing the risk of their becoming crashes.

Also, just on a selfish note I'm pleased the price hung around here long enough for me to get my last chunk in at £20 Smiley  Thanks market Cheesy

I'm purefusion. Been investing in BTC since around this time last year. Decided to pick up some more. I tried to flip some of my stash, but as it turns out I'm a terrible speculator, and lost I some money trying to flip over the weekend with some bad timing, so I've decided to just buy and hold. Smiley
I'm impressed with how quickly you learned that lesson.  You will find forum members who try, try and try again - and lose out more often than not!  So if you've decided to leave with the day trading already you're already ahead!  Remember if you're a long-term believer in Bitcoin you should maybe look at trading from the Bitcoin perspective i.e. buying fiat when you think it is going to go up in order to resell before it starts on another downward trajectory - which it will continue to do overall if Bitcoin is to be a success.

$30.30

Last chance to buy under $31   Wink

WRONG Smiley

Come on you bears, I want to buy cheap on Tuesday  Grin

It is imposible to buy cheap on tuesdays. This seems more like one last bull trap for this weekend, that shouldn't last more than 6 hours Wink
I guess you're probably correct.  But still probably better to have bought Tuesday than to wait in hope that there's a dip next weekend.  That I won't risk!

Does anyone read this? If I post here and no one reads it, does it mean this message does not exist?   Undecided
Like it Smiley Welcome to the forum.

631  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Satoshi Dice -- Statistical Analysis on: February 24, 2013, 05:22:04 PM
So, 65782.98530102(feb 23) - 53139.67029635(jan 31) / 100M = 0.00012643 per share, not accounting for the next 5 days ? It looks too much to me.

Updated with better numbers...

FYI, this means we are at 63% of the January dividend right now, and that is without the whale (well, for most of the month at least.)

But we're 85% through the month - except this is a 28 day month. If this were a 31 day month like january we'd still be 77% through the month and under target.
It is not surprising to me that we are lower, and would be even if it were a 31 day month, given that one player that accounted for such a high proportion of last month's profits disappeared off the map (sorry, I can't find the link to what that proportion was).  I am content that growth in numbers of plays has not far off made up for loss of that large single profit source, especially considering each bitcoin bet could have bought so much more other things on average this month than it could have in Jan.

Why do people sell like stupid? Just because the price is comming to 30 usd?? There is no barrier... just the one in minds of weak people...
Then let them and take advantage of it if you've got the chance to buy more or just chill and let the market get on with it if you're not intending to do anything in a hurry.  Personally having been buying since October I have yet to experience what I'd call a proper sell-off.  If this carried on downwards for some distance for some time I think I'd be more confident in subsequent growth because the more this happens the more likely we are to shake off some weak hands, let some 'early adopter money' come into play (for those who had been waiting for the rally to peak before grabbing some $) and have the coin move more cheaply into stronger and newer hands Smiley

On the other hand if you just got some in order to make a BTC-only purchase then buy either quickly or wait!  It's not often you'll lose out by holding between exchanging and buying but now is one of those rare occasions.
635  Economy / Speculation / Re: This is the Fifth "Crash" in the Last Month on: February 23, 2013, 02:01:30 PM
I don't know about "corrections" as a technical term …
Then better do your homework first, then post here.
Quote
A reverse movement, usually negative, of at least 10% in a stock, bond, commodity or index to adjust for an overvaluation. Corrections are generally temporary price declines interrupting an uptrend in the market or an asset.

Yep, except they do happen in down-trends too. You know, when you get that little "rocket" in a bear market?
It would be better said to be a movement against the main trend, when the main trend moves too far, too fast.
Slap on the wrist accepted Wink  I thought that as I wrote but was too lazy in the moment.  Followed your link this time though so thanks Smiley  I accept what is going on is a correction but the graph shape that fits my concept of correction better is like what happened after the Pirate price drop of Aug 12:

However I stand corrected by you and NamelessOne and promise to do my homework properly next time!
636  Economy / Speculation / Re: This is the Fifth "Crash" in the Last Month on: February 23, 2013, 11:59:57 AM
i think, your "crashes" are actually called "corrections"
I don't know about "corrections" as a technical term but I would have thought corrections would serve the function of taking the price back to somewhere relatively stable where the market deems an appropriate valuation to be.  Yet all these 'corrections' seem to be doing here is giving the drive upwards a bit of breathing space, allowing time and opportunity for those not comfortable with the new level to bail out (and giving day traders a chance to try their luck with a temporary BTC short) before continuing the march towards the heavens!

This is probably the beginning of the race for the doors.  Get your bitcoins ready everyone.
Thanks for turning up proudhon, it is right and proper that you are here to talk us through this Wink

I'm enjoying it both for the fun of it but also because I'm planning to buy another lump of bitcoin on Tuesday and all of a sudden there's a glimmer of hope I may be able to get them at a price a bit lower than what feels like a high price.  My reasoning and belief is that this is not a bubble and part of the growth and distribution of Bitcoin but buying in still 'feels' high.

In a constantly rising market the latest price always feels high. It will be "a bit lower" next week. If only I had a time machine... WAIT A MINUTE... you don't think it's a bubble? You could just buy now at prices "a bit lower" than next week then.

But I guess you're referring to a possible dip on the weekend? Well, might happen... maybe not.
Sorry for the lack of clarity.  The only reason I'm not buying now because I don't have access to the money till Tuesday.  I was laughing at myself really for allowing my 'feeling' of it being high, despite my reasoned belief that it is not high in the bigger picture, making my prospective purchase at around the all time high feel expensive.  So whatever happens I will buy Tuesday but it would be a bonus if this downward trend would continue, whether a weekend dip or just a bit of a sell off continued till after I'd bought.  Even if it's a longer and deeper sell off that I'd be buying into on the way down I'd be happy because it would not only satisfy my reasoned decision that 3x is a decent price but would also satisfy my 'feeling' of them being expensive.

Having said that this is really early in the weekend and I don't have much confidence in this trend lasting all the way through to Monday's Japanese bank opening times let alone Tuesday pm UK time!

Edit: Have a good weekend proudhon - you will be missed if this carries on Smiley

640  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Wouldn't it be more fair if the bitcoins were shared equally? on: February 22, 2013, 07:21:20 AM
Again, he's not arguing for re-distribution of wealth or the re-destribution of coins. He thinks the system should have started out with a base already in place. In a way it did, except that base was 0.
Yes, it's arguing for what Bitcoin should have been that makes his whole premise ridiculous.  Bitcoin is what it is.  You want something that works differently then be part of creating/promoting that.  Bitcoin obviously isn't for you.
