Please see my comments below: patch wasn't tested properly. It's better to stay 1-2 days with some node not patched. This will help in case of problems with this patch. The absense of this patch doesn't influence miner's income in most cases. Sorry, I'm confused, can we continue mining with the wallet and bitmonerod from yesterday? |

fix coming soon, it looks like get_block_reward doesn't work as intended.
i will pm thankful_for_today with some c code to disable adaptive block sizing and set blocksize limits to those similar in bitcoin, then we should be back on track with a hardfork i hope.
Hello! It's allright  I have a fix and I will deploy it now. Hardfork is not required. The problem is in mining code not in protocol rules. 10 minutes, please  I'm seeing a ton of red in bitmonerod - presumably this is the issue displaying itself. Do I need to re-download the blockchain? Download a new wallet or bitmonerod? Just leave it mining and it will fix itself? Thanks. |

Twice I've seen stuff about alternate blockchains and successful "reorganizations" in the daemon. Is this common in all cryptocurrencies but simply hidden behind the GUI? Or is this coin particular prone to forking?
Am I suffering a similar problem, if it is a problem? I was getting blocks ok, but now all I see is "Block added as alternative" messages. What does this mean? As usual, nothing about this on google. |

Ok, got the miner up and running and just found a block  How long until it shows in my balance? Is there a command to find out? Or, is there a problem because immediately after finding the block I got the message: Some problems at write: An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine.
I've googled it, but can only find out it's a winsock issue (I think). Any ideas?  ? Wait a while and type refresh in your simplewallet terminal. It should show up unless it was an orphaned block. Brilliant, worked a treat, thanks All this command line stuff is stopping me posting inane drivel, so everyone should be pleased.....  |

I've updated the code for error-protected addresses that I did for NXT and converted it into the new format. As a bonus I also wrote a simple address generator. It's not user-friendly, it's just for you, early adopters https://simcoin.info/address_gen.zipIt's a simple console exe that generates random addresses and stores them in a CSV file. It doesn't look for user-defined words because it's much faster to check a word against millions of pre-generated addresses than to generate those addresses again. What if the next day you need another address with a different word? You just try to find it in your database of addresses, instead of generating them all over again. This also helps if you just want to pick a better looking random address. Don't go crazy with it, if some issue comes up - I will not hesitate to change how keys are generated. The program will append new addresses and passphrases to "out.csv" file it creates on the first run. Make sure nobody else can read it. If you use it, I would appreciate if you post here how many addresses per second you got and what kind of CPU your machine has. My, rather old, 2 GHz PC generates them at the rate of about 1400 keys per second. This means I can find a 6-character word in 4-8 days. The code is not particularly optimized, so the speed can be significantly improved later. If your CPU has multiple cores, you can run several copies of the program, just make sure you run it from different folders. And leave one core free for the rest of the system. To exit press Ctrl-C. i7 920 @ 4ghz, 12gb RAM Running one instance produced about 2700 keys/sec using about 10% of four cores in Task Manager. Running three instances gave 3x 2500 keys/sec (7500 total) using around 35% of six cores (2 virtual) - this was the best I achieved, running four or more instances gave no overall increase. Machine was essentially idle during tests. |
