I assume you're monitoring with a program other than taskmanager?  Because task manager doesn't show it.

Which cards are you using on the other rigs?
642  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 6 GPUs on mobo MSI Z77A-G45 on: February 09, 2014, 10:57:59 PM
Weird.  I've got a few of those boards running 6 cards each.  RAM usage never goes above 4, but the system allocates 7.9GB with 6 cards if you watch with RAMmap or an in depth ram watcher.
643  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Quick question on powered risers on: February 09, 2014, 10:55:29 PM
Yes you can run them either way... I think powered risers is a marketing scam personally.  I have mined without them with no issues.

LOL. We know that hooking up 6 gpus on non powered risers draws too much power through motherboard traces. It's been proven, with lots of pictures of burnt traces.

USB style risers are even better, as you can put the gpus up to 10 ft away or more (I've only tested 10ft cables at the max) and build racks designed just for good cooling.

Agreed, it's definitely not a marketing scam when using more than 4 high power cards.  I've seen many burned mobo pictures myself as well.

Unless of course the mobo has slots for additional pci-e power.
644  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 6 GPUs on mobo MSI Z77A-G45 on: February 09, 2014, 10:53:14 PM
I've got three of them. Tried it on all three. Each has a celeron G1610, 4gb ram, xubuntu 12.10 or 13.04 (also tried bamt 1.3) running from usb drives. Cards on risers, because you can only run three cards on the motherboard without risers. Risers and gpus are all known good. The boards just don't boot when I have more than three cards plugged in.

Pop in another stick of ram, for 8GB.  Now that you mention it, I was never able to run more than 3 cards with 4GB either.

Are multipools even profitable for the miner?  It seems like with all the coin switching they would make less, unless the miners were getting pps, which I doubt they are.

Your mobo must have been defective.  I've run 5 on handfuls of different drivers on win7, win8.  Win8 runs 6 with special driver mod.  Linux will run the 6 out of the box.
647  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Quick question on powered risers on: February 09, 2014, 10:44:16 PM
It depends on how the riser is powered.  If the riser cable is cut in any way then it will not work.  If the yellow power cable is soldered to the pins then it will work and be fine.
648  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Which Companies ask for receipt from authorized reseller for RMA on: February 09, 2014, 10:42:18 PM
Well I remember a while ago people talking about certain companies that never asked them when they sent it stuff.  So I want to know which ones
649  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Chaining 5 powered risers into one port on PSU? on: February 09, 2014, 08:41:56 PM
The yellows are 12v, the red are 5v.  The reason 1 yellow cable isn't enough is the power load is too much for a single wire, it will get very hot and eventually cause something to burn out.

Yes you can just use two cables that go into 2 slots on the psu.

651  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Development on: February 09, 2014, 08:01:52 PM
So is this company legit or what?

I want to hear from people that have done research.

It is legit.  They are working with a know fabricator.  BUt I only question their competency.  I believe they are the owners of an ASIC design that was sold to them and they only know enough to understand the design.  There has been no report of any experience in FPGA and ASIC design or engineering previous to this.

They have been hyping expectations but do not realize that they are working with a company that is new to the 20nm ASIC market and are trying to make a name for themselves.  They also have not cautioned anyone on the potential that the fabrication process can be prone to errors and chip quality can vary.

Will they accept ASIC chips with quality lower than 70% and just pass that on to their buyers or will they promote high quality and reject chips of poor quality at the cost of their profits, and or result in delaying shipping as a result.

So it is not if they are legit or a scam.  It is what will happen when their backs are to the wall, will they put out bad products or will they focus on quality over profit margin.

Exactly what I needed to hear.  So it seems then it may take quite some time.  Well said and Thank you Cheesy

I am surprised there are people even considering BFL. I don't care what they are offering unless they are shipping immediately and with next day air.
653  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 6 GPUs on mobo MSI Z77A-G45 on: February 09, 2014, 07:41:50 PM
jch9678 I'm using 3x 1x1 risers (19,5cm), 1 riser 16x16 (19,2 cm. Riser 16x16 is needed in the middle 16x slot) and 2 risers 1x1 (30cm)

Slots:
-1 (1x1)
-2 (1x1)
-3 (1x1)
-4 (empty)
-5 (16x16)
-6 (1x1)
-7 (1x1)

Show us picture.  That makes sense though, the x16 providing the presence needed on that slot.  Very interesting.  Cheesy  I bet a x4 would work too then.

655  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: [Question] Riber Cables/Adapter on: February 09, 2014, 07:32:40 PM
^ Correct.  16x riser for Gameplay/movies/video/rendering/etc.  1x risers for mining.  Some motherboards can't supply the bandwidth if you use all 16x risers, that's why everyone uses 1x.
656  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Chaining 5 powered risers into one port on PSU? on: February 09, 2014, 07:23:43 PM
You need at least two 12v (yellow) lines to run 5 powered risers for those cards.  Do not use the adapter if there is only a single yellow line running back to the psu, the wire will get extremely hot and eventually cause damage.  3 12v lines is better.  Each line must have it's own metal pin going into the psu.

Not an adapter with twin molex as that is still only one 12v line running back to the psu.

Just use two of those cables you are talking about and you will be good to go.
657  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: [Question] Riber Cables/Adapter on: February 09, 2014, 06:18:10 PM
1x risers are better than the rest.  usb risers are better than the rest.

What did you guys thinking about coin value? Last 2-3 days it's slowly falls down. You are all voting Cryptsy to add DGB but did you now what happens with 80% of coins value when coin hits Cryptsy? Big dumps and quickly devalue. Take care with this. Are DGB really needs Cryptsy right now? May be some kind of work required to value rising right now before Cryptsy adds it?

I do not want to be the partypooper but if a coin is never dumped ... it will never rise.  You need more people holding the coins except miners to create value in trading.  Dumping is not a bad thing , it may look that way at first since the price goes down. But buyers that do not mine, are the traders that will push the value up in the long run.... took me a while to realise this.

We need it to hit Crypsty.

I'm desperately waiting.  Grin

A large difficulty increase would be fantastic.  The more people we can get mining the better, then the value will rise to compensate.

Too many easily mined coins, to low difficulty.
That's the price you pay for being high on Coinwarz.

We figured that both of these things will happen eventually. The sooner we can get on Cryptsy and get through that cycle the better. Once we have gone through all initial coin steps like CoinWarz & Cryptsy we can start a larger marketing campaign and bring about a slow & steady rise. We have some big things ahead this week.

The more people we can get mining the better. In our opinion being at or near the top of CoinWarz is a good thing. The more ways people can find out about DigiByte the better.

We have already started a $100 Facebook add trial. We have received about a 1.5% CTR with 80 clicks and $60 spent.

Awesome! Cheesy
