I too think we'd struggle to raise enough. It's all the ongoing costs of owning the club too. I love the idea, and maybe it will happen one day. Buy Leeds United, they're always for sale!

What you don't seem to understand is that just because YOU are making money does not mean it's not a pyramid scheme.  You are getting those BTC from somewhere man...it's from the people below you.  And at the end, the people at the bottom won't get ANYTHING.  So it's a pyramid scheme.  You need to either look up the definition, or you just don't understand it, for whatever reason.

I know we can't just put '+1', so this is me officially agreeing with the above. It's a scheme and it won't last forever. People are getting stung by this somewhere. You get nothing for free.
644  Other / Off-topic / Re: black people not into bitcoin? on: January 28, 2014, 09:37:37 AM
black people use a lot of drugs.  therefore they will not divulge their illegal activities associated with said bitcoin.

Just as ignorant as one can be, I'm glad this comment got no play. But I'll entertain nonetheless... I know you're just trolling, but I can't help it.

Allow me to deduce who you are; sloppy looking nerd that would nut in his pants if a girl whispered in his ear. Did I generalize correctly? Smiley

I know several black people involved in the bitcoin world, to include myself. All highly educated professionals who made our first mil before 30 without the aid of bitcoin. We're not fabulously rich and definitely not famous, but we're out here in the real world.

Nice dressing down  Smiley

I just saw this. Good to hear that New York's state banking regulator, Benjamin Lawsky is 'almost' defending the Bitcoin economy by saying, "There are always going to be bad apples in any industry."

Detracts from all the other neysayers who would jump on this and accuse the anonymity of Bitcoin.
646  Other / Off-topic / Re: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose(country)? on: January 28, 2014, 08:50:24 AM
If I was filthy rich and didn't even need to worry about managing my investments I would definitely settle down in French Polynesia. At least that's what I would like to believe, maybe I would get bored out of my mind after a year or two there.  Smiley

I think that. I don't think I could retire and do absolutely nothing. It'd be well boring. I like the chase of wealth, and fear that I'd get bored once that chase was over.

BitPay Not Willing to Work with Marijuana Dispensaries
http://newsbtc.com/2014/01/14/bitpay-willing-work-legal-marijuana-dispensaries/

They they should fine one that does.

What if none of the payment processors will handle any drug money?

Then they can just accept Bitcoin directly themselves. That's one of the beauties of Bitcoin - you don't need a payment processor.

My thoughts exactly. Set up Blockchain app and take payments by having customers scan your QR. Simples.
650  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: would you accept stolen bitcoins? on: January 27, 2014, 04:40:08 PM
Well let's put it into fiat terms and see if morals change:

Would you accept a wad of cash from someone, knowing that it was stolen from someone's sideboard and may be their life savings?

I'm not saying anything either way here, just curious.

Taking the fear of being caught out of it, think of the same question as above but with the money being stolen 3 years ago. Does that change things, knowing that you might not get caught like with BTC?
651  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: would you accept stolen bitcoins? on: January 27, 2014, 04:29:42 PM
Lets say I have 1 bitcoin that the 'system' recognises as stolen, I then send 1 satoshi of that bitcoin to every known bitcoin address that contains any coins. Then the whole black listing system breaks down.

The intention is good, like a benevolent dictator, but it breaks one of the core principles of bitcoin, it centralises control with some authority. That authority is vulnerable to corruption.

It must never be allowed to happen.

Wouldn't this just mean that everyone has 1 satoshi that they can't use, not that the whole thing will fall over?

Not seen that film yet, but one that I really fancy. Any good? Good storyline or is it one of those that try have their high-profile cast smooth over the cracks in the plot.
Is American Hustle any good? She's been in a few films with Bradlet Cooper now. Think she's got another one coming out too.
Really enjoyed it, could even be a classic. Storyline is great, think they could have made it a little bit shorter (over 2 hours) though that's probably my short attention span Wink

Haha, I found myself waning with the Wolf of Wall Street. Good film, but long!

That doesn’t mean these dispensaries can’t accept bitcoin. They just won’t have an easy way to instantly convert their bitcoins to USD.

I will speak with any merchant, offering up a solution to circumnavigate around this issue, but not publically. BTW, it works and is legal... and I will bill you only one satoshi for my services, of which you may take up to Two Weeks™ to pay me.

Simply PM me, whereupon we'll hook-up via phone once I know you truly are a merchant. I only told three other people about this while at Inside Bitcoins in LV, and they said, "Genius!" and "Why didn't I think of that?" (paraphrased, but true)

The words 'Two Weeks' are trademarked? lol.

Read above - Two Weeks™ - I'll have to start using the word 'fortnight' so I don't have to pay royalties.

I just finished Hunger Games 2 myself and though it wasn't bad, I didn't think it was anything special either. Though I guess I'm not part of their target demographic anyways...

You could be part of the Jennifer Lawrence's Ass demographic.

Haha, aren't we all! I'd buy that for Bitcoin...

660  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Zipzap at Miami - UK debut next week - 28,000 locations to buy BTC on: January 27, 2014, 03:42:50 PM
So is there a date for when this actually goes live? I might test it out just for the sake, providing the fees/commission aren't ridiculous.

Yeah I was thinking that. My local NISA accepts all sorts of delivery.courier services. Surely they'll take this on given the chance.

You can search here: https://www.zipzapinc.com/

Don't think you can search UK yet, tried the other day. Just says that it's coming soon and shows a pic of London.

Worked for me. Just go down to the bottom to the map and enter your postcode.

Ah yeah, sweet. As suspected, my local Nisa is in!

I'd still put money that if you go into most of these shops and ask for £10's worth of Bitcoin they'll be all bitwhat?  Grin

I hope they actually do some advertising for this, because otherwise I can't see it being very successful, but I'm glad it's there. Hope I'm proved wrong.

Yeah I thought that. The same Nisa I speak of has a sticker on the door and are on an online map to say they participate in collect +, am delivery mechanism used now by eBay. I went in to do it and they had no idea what to do with my parcel. lol.
