641  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: SatoshiVM - "A New Era For Bitcoin" on: January 11, 2024, 10:11:18 AM
Do we need another sidechain? Liquid and Rootstock already exist, while Drivechain still in development. In addition, many things available on SatoshiVM already offered by one of those. For now there's little technical detail, so i only say the author should explain why Bitcoiner should use SatoshiVM rather than other sidechain.

I thought they left this forum after both of their main account got banned/nuked. It looks like they create their thread on "Service Announcement" rather than "Electrum" to avoid people who raise skepticism against them, which seems to work until you create this thread. Anyway, since most of the shill post got deleted i only able to report "CryptoAIDev" and "sedinvore" for ban evasion.
643  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can I add nodes to speed up Bitcoin Core syncing? on: January 10, 2024, 09:12:46 AM
Can I add extra nodes that are more close to me, to speed up the syncing?

As stated by other user, usually there are other factor which limit sync speed. But FYI if you use Bitcoin Core, you can't connect to more node since Bitcoin Core only let you connect up to only 10 nodes (outgoing connection). The only way to increase that is by editing Bitcoin Core source code and then compile it.

2. Bitcoin Core happen connect to node with slow connection speed or physically very far from where you live (which cause slower download speed).

You can try close and reopen Bitcoin Core in order connect to different full nodes, but don't expect much difference.

Where to find the node list?

There are many website such as bitnodes.io/ which provide such list, but you can't know which of those have fast connection.
644  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: ◉ Bitcoin Protocol Rules ◉ on: January 10, 2024, 09:09:12 AM

645  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Inquiry on: January 10, 2024, 08:55:27 AM
If I get out of exchange  send BTC to my address say A1 , so the exchange suppose  know my address A1 and kyc   , how can I remove the Bitcoin. From the address A1 without tracing it , I know there are coinjoin and etc but how can be assure that I have not any  MORE connection to the above mentioned address A1

NOTE I AM NOT TECHINICAL BUT I TRY TO UNDERSTAND

First of all, there's no thing such as absolute privacy or anonymity. So while there are ways which try to break link between A1 and other Bitcoin address you own (i'll call it A2), there's always possibility someone can make link between A2 and A1. For example, amount sent from A1 and amount received by A2 is extremely close within short time interval.
646  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Expect the Orginals game to get even bigger - actual games on: January 10, 2024, 08:48:18 AM
Thoughts?

They should store it on Internet Archive, other archival service or Bitcoin sidechain. But at least it's less spammy compared with most data inserted to Bitcoin blockchain through Ordinal.

One huge concern I have is using recursive inscriptions to hold code that can be assembled into an executable - in this case the SNES emulator... What is to stop using the chain to distribute malware or C&C code for it?

Nothing can stop people from doing that. But as long as software you use (e.g. wallet) doesn't execute binary or code by itself, in practice there's no security risk.
647  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Blockchain Backup Project: Torrent for Bitcoin Core! on: January 10, 2024, 08:36:59 AM
The files shared are 100% original and mirror those officially released, ensuring authenticity and reliability.

I missed this part on last reply, but claiming to be official release means you're lying since you're not even Bitcoin Core contributor.

I advise against trusting bekli23 at all.  He has a long history of offering sketchy Services and 'products' and now it is even sketchier that he wants to offer this 'dedicated Torrent of the Bitcoin Core'.

He offered to sell a presumably loaded 8.5 Bitcoin wallet.dat file (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3256364.msg33918840#msg33918840).  Later the same year he offered a service to 'decrypt wallet.dat files' for which he would ask for Know Your Customer information (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5074536.0).  Then he offered something I do not even understand properly, but I presume he pretended he has the entire list of all Bitcoin Addresses with their corresponding Private Keys which impossible (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5237001.0)?

Now he is offering this.

I am almost confident it is a scam attempt.  Be aware.

Thanks for the warning. It explains why OP has insufficient technical knowledge and his last reply seems to be generated with AI.
648  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hypothetical ETF disaster hardfork on: January 09, 2024, 09:38:40 AM
I imagined an hypothetical scenario where there is a massive hack or some sort of a disaster scenario where there are massive losses, and now those same good samaritans that are funding developers start pushing a campaign to engineer a rollback of the blockchain Vitalik style. What would happen?

Unless those developer willing to lose their reputation on Bitcoin community, they won't participate on such campaign.

This could be applied to any other narrative to come up with a hardfork. Like, BTC pollutes the environment, let's go to PoS, or this and that. But the one I could see coming, is seeing a massive loss and then angry people wanting a rollback and start campaigning to pass laws that force developers to do this and so on. Most custodians are using Coinbase, but some will be self-custodians, Fidelity being one of them. I expect their efforts to pass such hardfork to fail, but who knows if like I said, most people in the future depend on ETFs and start pushing for laws to "protect investors" that force developers and miners to do rollback plans and so on. This sounds ridiculous now but you never know.

I expect we'll see another community split where new forked coin is created. Although looking at ETH and ETC split, we can't be fully sure Bitcoin which doesn't implement rollback or other major change could remain most popular coin.
649  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Blockchain Backup Project: Torrent for Bitcoin Core! on: January 09, 2024, 09:06:18 AM
--snip--
What tromp means is that if you dump a load of .blk files onto your disk and start up Bitcoin Core, it will ask peers for block headers through the regular Bitcoin protocol (thus not relying solely on the torrent being 'legitimate') and then looks through those files to see if already has the needed blocks for those headers, before asking for them through the Bitcoin network.

I see, thanks for making it easier to understand.

I'm reaching out to address some important concerns and provide clarity about our recent initiative - a dedicated torrent for blockchain (previously referred to as Bitcoin Core).

Actually your current title is correct. File you plan to share only can be opened by Bitcoin Core (and other software which use identical file format).
650  Other / Meta / Re: [Userscript] Auto-Save your posts to drafts on: January 09, 2024, 09:00:20 AM
What exactly do you mean by using too much space? Text has very small size. I expect average post use 1KB or less of data.
Your localStorage has a limitation of 5 MB. Every time you have a draft you're saving a post, meaning 1 post every 5 seconds (by default). If it's a big post and/or you're taking too long, that won't last a lot. While it's probably better than the forum's limit, it's not a foolproof solution.

I see, that makes sense when we're talking about creating big post/thread. And while we're at it, if your script use localStorage, how hard is it to delete old draft periodically to prevent reaching 5MB limit?
651  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Concerning Malwares on: January 08, 2024, 10:28:13 AM
My questions are:
•What damages can a malware cause to your wallet?
•What are the signs that your wallet being attacked by malwares?

It depends on each malware capability. Malware which created with intention of earning money illegal usually doesn't damage your wallet software/file, but rather copy your wallet file along with it's content (private key, transaction/address note, etc.). They also may put keylogger on your system in order to obtain password when you access your wallet file.

•How can it be prevented?

It's just like how you secure your device in general. But as mentioned by other member, using hardware wallet or using your device only for Bitcoin (and optionally doesn't connect to internet) is generally better option.
652  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Scammer lead developer resigns from honeypot Wasabi Wallet on: January 08, 2024, 10:01:50 AM

Can anyone access any of those links using Tor Browser? The estimated waiting time is <3 minutes, but i already wait for over 15 minutes with no change.

A few months ago it was leaked on Twitter that the Wasabi team were trying to sell shares or even sell the company entirely, and were "open to the idea of merger and acquisition": https://nitter.cz/SamouraiWallet/status/1708068554208117028#m

Does this mean they found some institutional buyer and so some of the devs are selling out and leaving?

But can we trust that leak, especially when it comes from Samourai Wallet who also has some controversy and few questionable behavior on social media?
653  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Blockchain Backup Project: Torrent for Bitcoin Core! on: January 08, 2024, 09:40:50 AM
i have to warn that you'll face many skepticism since those who download the backup need to trust you.
No trust is needed. The torrent equipped bitcoin node still queries its peers for the most work header.

But if the file is corrupted or contain invalid block, then you wasted some time and few hundred GB of internet data.

But whenever this node needs a block with a certain hash, it can just see if such a block is present in the torrent and use that instead of asking its peers for it.

I don't get this part of your statement. OP seems to backup Bitcoin Core files where one .blk file which contains data from multiple blocks.
654  Other / Meta / Re: [Userscript] Auto-Save your posts to drafts on: January 08, 2024, 09:16:54 AM
Thanks for creating this script. I just tried it with Violentmonkey extension and it works without any problem.

--snip--
I could create my own draft implementation where posts would be saved on my server, but I can't see enough demand for that and there may be some downsides like having to trust my server (even though the data isn't too sensitive) and privacy issues (sending requests to my server).

Or I could make it save every post on your local browser. Cons: browser limitations, using too much space, etc...
--snip--

What exactly do you mean by using too much space? Text has very small size. I expect average post use 1KB or less of data.

656  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Has anyone ever been able to get a Blockchair API Key recently? on: January 07, 2024, 09:29:48 AM
While i can't answer question on thread title (since i only tried their free API), have you considered different API provider or even run your own blockexplorer.

However, it seems that their email provider is Yandex or at least that's what I can see in the automated email rejected message I got from my email provider:

I wonder if you can pass through Yandex spam filter if you create Yandex email address/account.
657  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Blockchain Backup Project: Torrent for Bitcoin Core! on: January 07, 2024, 09:23:04 AM
Hello Bitcoin Enthusiasts,

I'm thrilled to introduce a project I've been passionately working on - a dedicated torrent for the latest version of Bitcoin Core. Recognizing the challenges faced by many in dealing with the large size of blockchain files, my project aims to simplify this process.

I appreciate your effort. Although i have to warn that you'll face many skepticism since those who download the backup need to trust you.

There's no need to include wallet.dat, setting.json and debug.log files.

I opened this link, but Google asked me to login.
658  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin acceleration services - Fee comparison on: January 07, 2024, 09:08:15 AM
Nice thread, It convince me further to enable RBF or at least set relative high TX fee rate.

With Viabtc reducing slots, one free gateway to get cheaper transactions confirmed is nearly shut so in case fees go up again and you have one for those tx where you can't RBF or CPFP cause it's a tx between custodial wallets one might have to resort to paid accelerators.

FWIW if you use wallet with full RBF support, you can avoid paid accelerators. And if you're advance user, you can create raw TX with conflicting UTXO with higher fee and broadcast it to other node/explorer which support full RBF.

Contacted my isp
Try speedtest.net Smiley

FWIW i've seen few ISP has relative slow speed, but remains fast when you perform test with speedtest.net or similar website Roll Eyes. Sometimes i'd just download stuff (such as video from youtube using yt-dlp) for less biased result.
660  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Using QR codes as Bitcoin address protection on: January 06, 2024, 10:07:43 AM
I can't say it's good idea. Aside from what @Hatchy said,
1. I expect many Bitcoiner will find it's not convenient option especially for those who use PC or laptop.
2. Some service which accept cryptocurrency force you to enter Bitcoin address on text field.
3. If you upload the image to 3rd party website, there's small possibility owner of the website tamper with your image.

There are lots of QR code generators on the internet but you should look for the most reliable provider to use. For instance, I used this website https://www.qr-code-generator.com/[/li][/list]

Some wallet software can generate QR code for address on your wallet, use that instead.
