661  Economy / Auctions / Re: [AUCTION] 75 ASICMINER shares @3.65 BTC/share (48h auction) on: August 12, 2013, 03:17:42 AM
You are like the lead developer! Can't you just make your own BTC out of thin air!? Grin
662  Economy / Auctions / Re: Auction: Butterfly Labs Little Single (Aug 17) on: August 12, 2013, 03:16:32 AM
It was a preorder, but an early one. Hope i break even :/
Well, with the new usb eruptors selling for 0.3 BTC each, that means by early next week anyone can buy 1GHZ for 0.9 BTC.
30GHZ X 0.9 BTC = 27 BTC so I am not sure this gives you any edge over what anyone else can buy right away starting early next week.
663  Economy / Auctions / Re: [AUCTION] 75 ASICMINER shares @3.65 BTC/share (48h auction) on: August 12, 2013, 03:13:32 AM
75@3.67
(can I get these escrowed directly to burnside of btct.co and turned into PT shares?)
664  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Why only a fool would pay over 0.9BTC per GigaHash on: August 12, 2013, 03:10:37 AM
So, USB eruptors will be going on sale next week at 0.3 BTC/each (about 334MHZ stock, over 400MHZ each with overclocking and cooling).  That means for 0.9 BTC you can easily get 1GHZ without risk (and some OC overhead).

This will hurt anyone who was trying to sell their Avalon units or BFLs as ASICMiner is squashing all prices.  They will also be selling the "old" eruptor blades bapable of 10GHZ stock speed for 10.25 BTC each (overclockable to about 12GHZ) which is about the same price at 0.97BTC per GHZ.  The only reason to buy those is no usb hub required and there is more room for overclocking than the USB miners.

In 2 weeks, the "new" blades will go on sale.  Their specs and price have not yet been announced.  I expect both the speed and the prices to both be higher;)  Whether they offer a better value on a BTC per GHZ basis is the real question.  Also, be interesting to see the watts/GHZ as well.
665  Economy / Auctions / Re: Auction: Butterfly Labs Little Single (Aug 17) on: August 12, 2013, 03:04:29 AM
Not sure what you're talking about, as I already have the unit and received it from BFL within three days. Bitpop will have the unit and hashing away by Wednesday/Thursday. Everybody wins!
Ah, I thought this was for a pre-order.  Ok, that makes sense and investr did get a good deal.
666  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What do you guys think of BitEnsure? Interest Bearing Wallets on: August 12, 2013, 03:02:52 AM
Any service which promises to pay interest on Bitcoin deposits right now is a scam.

The only legitimate and sustainable way to pay interest on Bitcoin deposits is by profitably lending bitcoins, and there are very, very few sound loans to be made right now.

There are virtually no business activities capable of generating a return on investment that exceeds the appreciation of Bitcoin in purchasing power. If you lend bitcoins out for a 1 year term and expect to be repaid you've got to plan for the possibility that the exchange rate could be ten times higher a year from now than it is today. This means if you're looking for a borrower capable of paying back a 1 year BTC loan they had better have a business plan capable of generating more than 10X returns in the course of a year, or else they are likely to default.

Lending BTC for a year is insane, anyone proposing longer term loans at the present state of the adoption curve is a danger to themselves and others.

So where are all the sound loans to going to be made that will generate the profit needed to pay interest on deposits? Overnight lending to bitcoin businesses that need extra liquidity? How much demand for that is there really, and how much profit is available to pay depositors?

Basically if the interest you're being paid on a deposit (for any type of deposit, not just BTC) doesn't come from a borrower who used that loan to generate more business profit than they paid in borrowing costs during the loan term, then you're either gambling (speculating) or else dealing with a Ponzi scheme.
I agree.  Tradefortress though on his website coinlenders.com offers very high APR rates as high as 27.25% for 90 day CDs.  He seems to be fairly respected, but I have to think that there is no way such return are sustainable and it must be either a outright scam or a ponzi scheme.
667  Economy / Auctions / Re: Auction: Butterfly Labs Little Single (Aug 17) on: August 12, 2013, 02:33:58 AM
Payments sent
It is very unlikely you will get it by August 31st.  Kinda a stupid deal here - only John K. wins since he gets 0.6BTC for his troubles.
668  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What do you guys think of BitEnsure? Interest Bearing Wallets on: August 12, 2013, 12:26:45 AM
So they replied this morning: "Please allow a couple days for the transfer to go through as we must wait for a withdrawal from our investment account. You will be notified when the transaction has occurred." Will update when they send.
That makes no sense at all.  Investment account?  These is no fiat involved here.  All they need to do is make a bitcoin transfer from their cold storage to you.
669  Economy / Auctions / Re: 471 ASICMINER direct shares, fixed price, 4.18 each share on: August 12, 2013, 12:22:55 AM
Is this an auction thread or an investment advice thread?

It would be an auction thread if the OP was here to close it as it has been more than 4 days. He hasn't been on the forum since Friday though. Roll Eyes
yes things are quickly degrading!
670  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pi Coin on: August 11, 2013, 08:33:49 PM
Considering Pi has already been found to 10 trillion digits and for most practical engineering purposes 29 digits considered to be surfice (what nasa uses), not sure if such a PoW had any true usefulness scientifically.
671  Economy / Auctions / Re: [SELL] Advertise on Just-Dice.com on: August 11, 2013, 07:47:34 PM
And I did write: "This auction is for one of the spots.  The winning ad will be shown 40% of the time."
So what happens to the other 3 spots?

They all get 40% exposure too.
But you have not auctioned them?  bitbet.com has one spot, you auctioning 1 spot here, what about the other 3?
672  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM]unofficial jhPrimeminer thread on: August 11, 2013, 06:59:16 PM
Hi,
A minor release to fix some of the problems we encountered lately and some features mostly for advanced users. As usual this version is not well tested, (time issue). The source is on github.
1. Implemented some kind of heartbeat monitoring, if a thread get stuck it's automatically restarted. Hopefully this will resolve the problem some of you reported that after a while the mining speed is dropped.
2. By default the initial cache auto tuning is disabled. It can be enabled using the "-tune true" command line parameter or by pressing the 'c' button in the miner.
3. The size of L1CacheElements that the above mentioned auto tuning used to set, is by default 256000 and can be set using the '-c' parameter (must be between 64000 - 2000000 and multiply of 32)
4. The auto tuning for the round sieve percentage can be also disabled by specifying a fixed value for the primorialMultiplier with the '-m' parameter (must be between 5 - 1009 and should be a prime number)

I intentionally left out these new parameters from the help because these are intended for more advanced users.

I won't post the AVX version because I think it has no performance gain. In case somebody saw any improvement with AVX let me know.
32bit - https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1189851/jhPrimeminer-GMP-v7-32bit.zip

Edit: the 32 bit version is broken, don't use it until I'll find out what's the problem with it.
I saw performance gains with AVX....please compile it with AVX included!

People finally realised 8% dividends for a year weren't worth it? LOL
Dividend APR is over 30% now, and that's without the sales revenue from this new hardware. Where on earth did you pull 8% from?

^ That's true.

90d    0.32633731   34.63%

And 8% would be a pretty sick yearly dividend anyway.  Am I the only person on here who owns real stocks too?
Andy you cannot compare this to a real stock.  In bitcoin world risk of fraud is high, recourse it low, the currency value erratic and the business here is very unique.  Everypne is competing for a piece of the same pie.  As more and more ASICs, which are more and more efficient, flood the market, it gets more doubtful ASICMiner can maintian their percentage of the global hashrate.  The new IPOs and all the new proposed hardware have spooked investors - as they should.
674  Economy / Auctions / Re: [SELL] Advertise on Just-Dice.com on: August 11, 2013, 05:03:15 PM
Doog, you need to clarify how many spots are available for bidding currently.  Is it 4 spots (since it seems that bitbet.com already has a spot secured which would be the 5th?).

It's still 1.

And I did write: "This auction is for one of the spots.  The winning ad will be shown 40% of the time."
So what happens to the other 3 spots?

676  Economy / Auctions / Re: 60 Asicminer Direct Shares Auction @ 4.3 - 48 Hours on: August 10, 2013, 04:04:56 AM
Someone is selling almost 500 AM direct shares in this forum for 3.7 BTC each (escrow included).

678  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why CureCoin Is Something Different on: August 10, 2013, 03:39:02 AM
I think it is very nice that you are trying to get people to put their gpu power towards a worthwhile endeavor.  Having said that, this is NOT a decentralized currency nor will it ever be.  It is simply a token. You may as well give out gold stars for submitting shares.

Currently, the only scientifically useful coin with a true PoW which also serves a legitimate scientific purpose is Primecoin.  I hope other will fine other hashing functions which are both useful PoW while also supporting a coin by being difficult to compute and easy to prove.
679  Other / Archival / Re: [AUCTION] BFL MiniRig SC ~ 500 GH/s IN HAND, available for pickup on: August 09, 2013, 04:30:50 PM
Does meeting in person with 30K roughly not make anyone else nervous?  I just cant imagine carrying that much cash into a trade for the life of me.
Safer than cash, keep it on your coinbase or blockchain wallet.  Nothing to steal.  He should be more nervous since he actually has a physical item to steal.
680  Economy / Auctions / Re: [Fixed Price] 5x110GH in hand -120btc on: August 09, 2013, 04:28:43 PM
I bet you can sell them on ebay for 13-15k each.

Would not surprise me. I see idiots there paying $120 per block eruptir when can be ordered for .6 BTC each ($50)
