661  Economy / Trading Discussion / Trading 2023 results. Bitcointalk members. on: January 19, 2024, 10:39:43 AM
Let us have fun today by sharing our last year trading experience. If you hold bitcoin, you would have gained a lot last year because last year was all about bull run. But let us leave that aside and talk about our trading experiences.

Please do not lie
If you are not a trader, you do not have to choose anything
You can also post and let us know what makes 2023 profitable or not profitable for you in trading. I am talking about the strategies, indicators, coins and the approved that you used.

Let me starts it.

I traded altcoins. They were more volatile and I lost.
One of the reasons for the loss was because I used leverage. I used up to 25 or more leverage for altcoins
I noticed I went against my trading plans
I did not want to be greedy but I was greedy. It would have happened before I will know.
What helped me was that I traded with the amount of money that I can afford to lose
If not that, it would have been very hard on me
My trades were not able to translate into positive net profit, but it was not that bad because I used little amount of money to trade.

How about you?
662  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2024-01-18] Peter Schiff Predicts Bitcoin Bloodbath — Expects SEC Chair ... on: January 19, 2024, 10:03:22 AM
Peter Schiff will prefer something bad for bitcoin and nothing more than that. He has not said anything good about bitcoin before. This is not something that we should be surprised of. That is Peter Schiff.

He is not having bitcoin and also not knowing about bitcoin. He does not even know what mempool is I guess. Because if he knows what mempool is, he will not talk like this.
663  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: No one has gone broke taking profits, always take profits. on: January 19, 2024, 08:58:27 AM
Do not mind your teacher if he or she is talking about trading cryptocurrencies. It is better to hold coins like bitcoin (not shit coin) and wait and be happy later after the price go up. If the price go down, you can wait until the price go up.

It is easy to say take profit but trading is not like that. You can open a position and not see profit at all for a while and some people will use the leverage that will cause their trading asset to get liquidated fast. Trading is more than just that, you have a lot to learn. See trading as risky as gambling than seeing it as taking profit.
664  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do exchanges work? on: January 18, 2024, 09:18:55 PM
The price is displayed based on latest traded trading orders. People are trading on different exchanges and they can not all buy and once and sell at once in a way the prices will be the same access all exchanges.

You can read these to know better:

665  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Tether Cryptocurrency Becoming ‘Preferred Choice’ Among Money Launderers on: January 18, 2024, 05:16:39 PM
I read about this few days ago, but to back that, Chainanalysis has released their own 2024 crypto crime report and it states that stablecoins are used more for illicit transactions. USDT is the most traded stablecoins and it will have the highest traded in volume, also for illicit transactions.

You can see how stablecoins are taking it from bitcoin year after the other

666  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Kindly Share your trading Stategy. on: January 18, 2024, 01:54:23 PM
Having a trading budget.

Do not include the money you can not afford to lose on your trading budget.

1 to 5% of your weekly income is enough for trading.

Learn how to use some indicators like Bollinger band and RSI. Fundamental analyses are important also.

You can start with averaging instead of going all at ones.

Always have it in mind that trading is as risky as gambling.

Do not use leverage. Or do not use too much leverage. Not using leverage is the best.

Do not trade with shit coins and highly volatile coins.

Do not be greedy. You will notice this in trading and you will need to fight it.
667  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The PCSO Lotto is shrouded in doubt due to the picture of the winner shown on: January 18, 2024, 08:52:51 AM
We have seen how people that won huge amount of money like this that do not care about the public knowing the amount they won, this kind of winning/winners are celebrated in a way that the public will not have doubts. This picture is not looking real at all. It looks fake. I am expecting a cheque that is even bigger than what we are seeing on the picture. The cheque is not even clear.
668  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: GAMBLING DISORDER on: January 17, 2024, 09:52:25 PM
If you are like this and gambling is making money from you so much in a way it can not help your financial life, you just need to stop gambling. If you are able to stop gambling for a year, you are having control over your addiction already.

But before you make that decision, you can make 1 to 5% of your weekly income to be for gambling and it should not be more than that. Do not touch the remaining 95 to 99%. If you can do this successfully, no need to quit. But if you are unable and still spending more than your weekly gambling budget, then quit gambling for a long time like a year.
669  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling can be a hope restorer if we go about it wisely! on: January 17, 2024, 07:52:29 PM
Some people may just not be lucky as this guy, but I like the guy that he dd not misuse the luck he has with gambling. Some people would win huge amount of money but they will continue to gamble and gambling will take all and more from these kind of people. It is important for people to be wise while gambling. But people should not always think like this that they should gamble to win huge amount because the success of someone may affect another person while trying to also win from gambling. These type of luck is not for everyone. Although it is good to try such with small amount of money sometimes.
670  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Looking for new coin listing alerts app on: January 17, 2024, 01:21:36 PM
I do not know if there is any of such app but what I do is that I have several exchanges. All the exchanges will give a notification about the coin that they are about to list on their site. Some of them also have in-app notifications.

But the thing is if you do not have an account on an exchange that a coin first want to be listed, no notification would be sent until the exchange wants to list the coin.

Having like 10 exchanges can be helpful. Some like Binance, Kucoin, Bybit, OKX and others always send notification about the coin that they are about to list.

They are new coins, be careful.
671  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Draw betting strategy on: January 17, 2024, 09:39:57 AM
Your title is not accurate because you are talking about 'draw no bet' and not draw.

Taking draw only have higher odds but riskier.

A match having like 3 odds for draw. It looks high but not good at all because as the person will pick draw, there is high chance that the match will not end as draw.

Draw no bet has its own disadvantage which makes me not to go for it. If the team you selected to win do not win, you will be given back you money but no winning. That means you risk your money but you have nothing in return because the team do not win. It also have small odd. If draw has 3 odd, expect draw no bet to be around 1.4 odd, but it depends on the teams also.

I prefer win or draw. But it has the smallest odd but if the team taken win or draw, the gambler would win the bet. But the odd is small. If draw no bet is around 1.4 odd, win or draw would be around 1.2 odd

2.play it safe:. Betting on a draw can be a bit riskier, so it's best to stake a small amount or pick the draw no bet option which gives you
a refund.
There is no refund when the team you selected to win lose. Refund is when the team draw, but the winning amount is not given among. Only when you make profit is when the team that you selected wins. It has a smaller odd also.
672  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Higher and lower risks in gambling is the gamblers choice. on: January 17, 2024, 06:39:34 AM
I don't know if everyone is aware of this that the more risks you takes on your predictions is the more higher the game odds, and this set of gambling demands lower stakes due to the chances to win is extremely high. Strategically, you are trying to safe your funds from some sort of impossible winning because it is obvious that you are daring the game with such high risks.
The more risk the higher the odd but the chance of winning is extremely low which I think is what you mean, not to talk that the chance is extremely high.

And the lower risks you takes on your predictions is the smaller the game odds which you may demand higher stakes to secure an appreciative winning. Although there is still no assurance of winning here for winning in gambling is strictly game of luck.
The chance is high for lower odds but losses are still possible. This is why we need to be conscious of not using higher amount of money that we cannot afford to lose to gamble thinking the odd is low. This low odds are common in sport gambling in a way a gambler will increase the money he wants to use to gamble but there is the probability that he can lose.
673  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you pay attention on other people bet and it amount, and does it affect you? on: January 16, 2024, 09:40:17 AM
That is how the idea of this topic appeared. I watch others gamble, I watch how the bet, I start to think about betting more than usually. Do you have such feeling also? Do you have a feeling that if others make large bets, that you also must bet large, otherwise you would feel like uncomfortable, or feel like a poor among rich, or something of that kind.
This only happened to me in trading before but not in gambling. It happened to me in trading when I wanted to know how copy trading is and saw people trading with huge amount of money. I felt like I should use huge amount of money also. But after I learn about copy trading, I do not have such feelings again because I do not go there again. In gambling, looking at other people's winning and losses have me no benefit and that makes me not to have been doing it, so no such feeling.
674  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Math Geek wanted on: January 16, 2024, 07:21:06 AM
What I have noticed in casinos that are reputable is that if you go for games of 50:50 chance of winning, if you stake $5, you will win $5, making it $10. If you go for a game of 33:33:33 chance of winning and you stake $5, you will win $10, making it $15. The higher this is getting, the more the money to win but the lower the chance of winning.
675  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Too much trading fee deduction on Bybit on: January 16, 2024, 07:03:33 AM
I also experienced the same thing but not at Bybit, I did it at Binance, and it wasn't a matter of fees, but the leverage I used and the balance I used.
for example
if I have a balance of 300$ and I go long on ETH with a margin of 100$ and leverage of 100x at a price of say 2000$ I will be liquidated if the price of eth falls 3% because I use 100x leverage so 3% of 2000 is 60, so if eth touches below 2000-60=1940 then that's where I should be liquid but this isn't the case, my liquid price is at more than 1950, that's why I'm sometimes confused because it doesn't match what we calculated.
I noticed this also on Binance. But not only on Binance but some other exchanges. All these are not to be worried about if you use a very low leverage and while trading good coins like bitcoin.

What contract were you trading and how long was the position open. On top of the fees charged for opening and closing the positions. Sometimes the funding fees which can go as high as 3% could affect the PnL so try to check under the PnL tab for the fee break down if you are using PC.

Here is a screenshot for simple follow up

I know about funding rate. It was a scalp trading. Although I am not a scalper but the trade was not up to 5 minutes. I also take note of funding rate if something like that happen I will check the funding rate time to know if another 4 or 8 hours has started. I will take a closer look into it again. I have forgotten the coin that I used but if I notice something like this next time, I will check the trading fee breakdown.
676  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Social aspects of online gambling on: January 15, 2024, 11:15:33 PM
I do not know how online casino can be socialized like land based casinos. The only fun I use to have is when I am with my friends and playing some games together. But this is not happening all the time but just few days in a year.

Land based casinos are more socialized but more people are visiting online casinos. Socializing will not be a way to make online casinos draw more gamblers to them (the gambling  site), but what could draw more users to gambling site is what online casinos will focus more on.
677  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: cashout or wait till the end? on: January 15, 2024, 07:57:42 PM
cashing out or waiting till the end of game which is more better?
If I staked $3158 and cashout to win almost $1.85 million? Or to wait and win $31.639 million? I will not wait two times to cashout and receive $1.85 million instead. $1.85 million is not a small amount of money at all, especially in my country. That means I am already a very wealthy person.
678  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wrong perspective towards Bitcoin investment on: January 15, 2024, 06:04:18 PM
How can we be so sure that you are telling the truth and that this is not self made up story?

If someone is not careful of scammers, crypto scammer are easy to locate someone. When I was new to crypto, I saw many cloud mining services but users on this forum helped me to know that they are scammers.

In crypto, it is good to be careful and avoid scam.
679  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Tools and Indicators for Price Action analysis on: January 15, 2024, 02:30:45 PM
Just to analyze the market? You can use the charts on exchanges. Exchanges have many primary and secondary indicators that you can use. I have seen several exchanges and have the chats in minutes, hours, days, weeks and months.

If you need more helping tooks, you can go for tradingview.
680  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Making too many picks reduces chances of winning. on: January 15, 2024, 01:40:27 PM
Are you referring to parlay? Because what I brought is not about parlay, but making many single bets on a regular basis, like a daily basis.
I can understand you now. It is not also good to go for several matches in a day. One or two are enough. I prefer just one or two matches in a week.

Where I noticed I gamble in single matches like this in the past are in-play. I always busy myself with in-play in the past but I do not have time to now. I will not even encourage people to gamble that much because the person will most likely lose than gain.
