661  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Windows Bounty Doubling on: April 16, 2013, 01:57:12 AM
The were no objections to the windows bounty doubling:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=34586.msg1776730#msg1776730

the original bounty is at:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=34586.msg1358839#msg1358839

so it is doubled from 6 shares to 12 shares. A 6 share bounty has been sent out to K1773R, so a top up of 6 will be sent. The remaining bounty is 6 shares.

The windows bundle works, the problem is that people are having difficulty installing it and getting it to bootstrap the receiver files. So the remaining windows bounty is now for improved installation and/or bootstrapping, maybe an installer could be made which installs devcoin-qt and devcoind, and makes copies over the receiver files to the correct place or something like that. There's no point in making another windows devcoin exe, since that part already works.

I might give a proper windows installer a shot.
662  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Selling 45BTC and 3500 MoneyPak on: April 16, 2013, 01:38:13 AM
Do you have a picture + receipt of the MoneyPak?

Edit: You can't even load 3500 onto one MoneyPak.

It can probably be loaded on to Paypal, if such a Moneypak exists... I doubt it would work on any prepaid cards since they all have that pesky $2500 a month limit (AML and such)...

but,

@Projects,
Check out the MP rate online anywhere.

MoneyPaks normally sell for a premium rather than a discount. Maybe things work differently in Silk Road land, but at retail MoneyPaks cost the value plus a fee. Online MoneyPak resellers (like the ever reliable BTCPak.com) tend to mark them up even more.
663  Economy / Auctions / Re: [WTS] Painting - Kim Jung Il's Heart Attack on a Train on: April 16, 2013, 01:16:35 AM
Since Silver and Bitcoin seem to be crashing together lately, I'll throw in an Austrian Silver Philharmonic with the painting.
664  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Cash out your Bitcoins easily. No Fees on: April 16, 2013, 01:10:14 AM
If I send the packs to him/her first then they could easily run off and I would lose out on however much it is. I have my reputation from SR and Bitcointalk to lose if I run off with the coins but for the person sending me the coins they can easily make a new account and do the same thing.

It is MUCH easier to get a moneypak or cash load to an ATM card reversed than it is to reverse a bitcoin transaction.

I came across this, they have only a few games up and it is day 1, looks like it has the cheapest lines  of anywhere, but it is pretty bare bones.

I do not endorse them, but I decided to try my hand at the TB game.....

Using Homestead website templates doesn't exactly inspire confidence...
667  Economy / Auctions / [WTS] Painting - Kim Jung Il's Heart Attack on a Train on: April 15, 2013, 04:09:46 PM
In honor of Kim Il Sung day I thought I'd auction of this little piece I put together a while ago.

This 11x14 inch painting depicts the final moments of Kim Jung Il's life as while riding on a train he was the victim of a savage heart attack. The power of the mighty heart as it flips the double bird while shooting fire out of its ass is a stark contrast to the diminutive nature of Kim. This testament to the power of love would make an excellent gift for anyone you care about, or you can keep it as a motivational reminder that you need to make the most of each and every day because that little pump in your chest is going to get tired of putting up with your shit eventually.

This painting was done with oils on canvas and has had roughly 16 months for the paint to dry and stabilize.

The starting price for this auction is BTC0.9 of which BTC0.25 is reserved for the cost of shipping and packing the painting for delivery within the United States.  International buyers will have the BTC0.25 credited to the cost of shipping this work of art abroad. Bids will be accepted on increments of BTC0.1

Bidding will continue until Friday April 19th at 4:30 PM CDT (9:30 PM UTC). Bids within a half hour of a bid preceding the deadline will extend the deadline by another half hour. I will consider reasonable escrow requests. This auction may be ended early if a buyer makes a attractive purchase offer outside of the auction thread for a minimum of BTC5 over the current auction price.
668  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MtGox has frozen trading again because their price manipulation is not working on: April 12, 2013, 10:30:19 PM
Actually trying to make a floor is responsible of them. If it works is another matter.

There's probably people who can be trusted to establish a floor. Gox doesn't seem to be run by those people.
669  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin 410 richest addresses, updated often. on: April 12, 2013, 10:22:23 PM
Quite many saw the crash coming, and/or sold the second day at $150-$200.

Not me. I was too busy making money and today also buying a lot.  Smiley

Sold at $245 and had plenty of time to buy back in at $78. Took some time for this short move to be realized, but thankfully the ;;goxlag made it easy to throw that buy order in the book after someone bit on my sell. Took less than two days for this to be realized... I though it might have taken two or three weeks for this move to complete.
670  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MtGox has frozen trading again because their price manipulation is not working on: April 12, 2013, 03:56:08 PM
YEP i have been in awe seeing the move over the charts watching the extraordinary pumping process:
3 consecutive 2k buy orders  encapsulating all sell orders, at any price.
Who in their right mind would trade like that in such situation !!

Sounds like time to dump some coins on Gox and complain to regulators when you can't get dollars out.
671  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Armory Question: Does Encryption Protect My Paper Backups? on: April 11, 2013, 05:28:28 AM
I'm sure this belongs in the Armory section, But I'm still a newbie...

I have enough BTC that I need to use Armory on an offline PC, so I set it all up and it works great. I assigned a good, strong password. Now, is my paper backup vulnerable to theft by a physical burglar, or is it useless without the password? Similarly, what if a physical burglar stole my offline PC?

Thanks in advance!  Smiley

The paper backup at least at the moment is not encrypted, so physical theft is a possible concern.
672  Economy / Speculation / Re: Cause of the crash - was it bitcoinbillionaire? on: April 11, 2013, 04:49:43 AM
Someone sent me this article, and I was hoping we could discuss the veracity of his claims that someone giving away a mere $13,000 of BTC was the cause of the crash.

http://www.naturalnews.com/039865_bitcoin_crash_prediction_Mike_Adams.html

That kind of stunt wouldn't make much of a dent. The real culprits are probably panic sellers using marketorders combined with quite a bit of ;;goxlag.
673  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin account grown uncomfortably large? Free Wealth Management offer. on: April 09, 2013, 03:39:47 AM
Wow - this didn't go quite as I had planned.  I can understand the healthy skepticism, and I guess I'll have to earn my stripes around here before making such an offer.

My initial interest in bitcoin was as an investment medium. So I've lurked here for awhile, but never had a reason to sign up.  A friend of mine recently made a "Bitcoin Rally Song".  In order to share it with the bitcoin community, I signed up.

To be clear - I wasn't asking for any payment, I don't want any account information, nor do I want to personally be managing any funds.

I'm not a professional in the field - I write software. It just happens that I've traded for 15 years, and have been on the receiving end of wealth management advice.  So maybe I have an idea or three that would help someone who, like me, now has an account whose size makes them uncomfortable...and maybe they've never even heard of a concept like dollar-cost averaging.

All I was offering was to be a sounding board to anyone looking for some broad-level strategizing. I imagine there are some people out there hemming and hawing about some pretty impactful decisions, and maybe they don't have someone to bounce some ideas off of.

I get the skepticism.  I'll chalk it up to poor wording on my part, alongside a poor introductory step. Regardless, I look forward to getting to know the rest of you around here over the coming months.

Do you personally sell precious metals?
674  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 500:1 odds BFL stops refunds by July. on: April 09, 2013, 03:14:53 AM
@MPOE-PR .. Do you guys even read the Bets before allowing them to be posted, or is it a sort of "anything goes" as long as BFL is involved?

It would still be pretty hard for them to do worse than betsofbitco.in...
675  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM - Coinabul owe me 81btc on: April 09, 2013, 03:11:11 AM
This is so sad, because every trademark/name that was in use before Bitcoin's alltime high was just broken has become a highly valuable asset with marketable value of its own.  Every bitcent invested in Bitcoin Magazine advertising served to reinforce the value of each such mark.

Let me tell you what I did as Casascius before I went to registered mail only policy, a secret I'll share now that I no longer will be doing it:  While openly stating a policy that I would do the exact opposite, I ate every single claim of lost merchandise.  If a 1BTC order got lost, I replaced it but funded the coin anyway - it was easy enough for me to just sacrifice the value of 1BTC than have to worry about publishing a list of coins I won't honor, or accusing someone of being a scammer.  (Now, I won't be doing this anymore since I won't take an order other than for registered mail, which gives me other remedies to make sure my exposure to scams is limited)

Why did I do this?  It was in my rational best interest to do so.  My reputation is a highly valuable asset I can use today to facilitate enormous trades with little more than a digital signature.  The community will entrust me with bigger and bigger deals, not surprisingly it works the same for me outside the bitcoin community.  I can't think of why it would make sense to ruin my name or brand over a $600 or whatever dispute, at the same time, having someone posting in the forums angry over losing 1 BTC is also damaging, even if the loss wasn't my fault.  I would have eaten this the minute it got posted to the forums regardless of whether I was right (but likewise would have told you that my policy was to the exact opposite so as to avoid scammers).

That's why you will succeed!!

Pretty sure he's already there. People might get into spats with him when he proposes shit in the Dev channels, but his reputation is probably worth more than any single Bitcoin address on the network. Casascius is on my do watch list for nearly the opposite reason Instawallet is.
676  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Andrew Bitcoiner on: April 09, 2013, 03:08:47 AM
I guess I won't get my BTC back...

I mean, I used his site when 13 BTC was worth 200 USD, how much they are worth now?

if a cryptocurrency looks like a scam, walks like a scam and is premined like a scam,

you bet it is one  Angry

But, their transaction fees are lower...
678  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Some a$$hole from Wilmington just tried to hack my btc account on: April 09, 2013, 02:57:58 AM
I've had several attacks on my Mac mini...not sure if any were successful, but, my Bitcoin funds in my encrypted wallet were just fine.

There are some very important security issues to figure out with Bitcoin. Ideally, clients would be able to employ physical keys that would make an eaves dropper with complete access to all the files on your computer and able to record every keysteoke unable to steal your coins.

This is an important concern.

Yes - it is definitely needed. Yubikey is good alternative,  I am seriously considering that.

Pulling this off requires some practice. Yubikey is nothing more than a USB keyboard that comes with a subscription service. You can program Yubikey to present strings you specify off of their service, but when we get down to the grit a Yubikey is still a keyboard until you go out of your way to make it into something else.
679  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MicroCash - New CryptoCurrency on: April 09, 2013, 02:53:34 AM
So we may finally get MicroCrash soon? I'm excited about another coin to pump and dump, and it already has fools to blindly support it! That means even more money for me.

I think this one has to little credibility left for a pump, it would just be dump (provided a place to dump them still exists).

That's how I read it, they're launching a new coin that will include the grandaddy of all pre mines.... seriously if you have new concepts and improvements, launch with the genesis block. All you're trying to do here is pump a dead chain to make a few folks wealthy.

As it stands, this alone makes it a joke.

Jokes are supposed to be funny. This though invokes the same feeling that would arise if after his bet last year Matthew N. Wright would propose he start opening his own casino.
680  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MicroCash - New CryptoCurrency on: April 09, 2013, 12:09:34 AM
Also, PM me if you have an old Solidcoin wallet you want to get rid of.  I'll gladly take them from you. Smiley

You realize they can't be dumped at Vircurex anymore... Then there's the part where if old Solid Coin balances get grandfathered into MicroCash as had been planned before that the trolls, skeptics, and most people with half a lick of common sense are going to start screaming about a "premine" as they ought to.
