481  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: xboxgames SCAMMED ME FOR 5BTC! on: June 18, 2013, 06:49:26 AM
Why don't you guys use escrow.??
Try to report moneypak as stolen, but i guess it will be too late.

I'll admit it was stupid not using escrow. I was in a rush today and needed coins fast and he was the only one with them at the time that was taking moneypaks.

Lesson learned. Took a chance and it didn't work out. Won't happen again.

Anyway, I have to finish up some work and then I can post screenshots of the PMs.

There some ways to make sure the person sending fiat isn't getting screwed when coins are sent first without escrow. See this thread for an example. Escrow adds another person to trust so you need someone like John K who has more to lose than either participant.

Just don't do deals negotiated over PM. Negotiate in Public and make a paper trail.

Verifying the fiat is a much harder problem though.

Doesn't seem like a scam because why scam when there are still people willing to invest... The scam comes when you pick a few losers and then people want to bail out... Not worried yet. Let's stop bashing the guy and give him a chance Smiley its only been a few hours and people complaining with less than 20 posts....

People are willing to invest because the accusations are just now coming out, and people don't know better. This is unfortunately common it bitcoin.

One of the people accusing him engaged in an honest and smooth trade with me yesterday. I hate to see people who trade honestly and smoothly get fucked because they aren't jaded enough to be versed in the finer points of making the scammer get caught when they scam.

I do have to say though atruk I do like your ripple is a scam post hahaha Wink

You can thank TradeFortress for that. I had a smaller link to that post of his, but then he had that offer to compensate for signature links. I figured I might as well take compensation from a link I'd have in my signature anyway.

I am literally just leaving work. Call centers are busy this time of year.

Will get that sorted for you when I get to computer. On phone now.

Will delete the posts once I receive the coins.
I bought 5 btc from xboxgames for 490$ moneypack. I send the pack almost 2 days ago. He was messaging me couple times that he will send in few minutes. I still didn't receive my BTC. I will delete this post once I have them in my wallet.

This thread is heating up. I'd recommend not depositing with xboxgames anymore.

I believed the community has been warned about this kind of thing before.

damn I dont believe xbox would do that Sad please tell me its not true xbox Sad

I wasn't scammed, but bitcoin is a high trust endeavor. Check the second link, bitcoin has seen this sort of thing many times before. Friendliness and cleverness are not things to automatically throw trust in when payments can't be reversed.

487  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What was the highest value of BQC so far? on: June 18, 2013, 01:08:54 AM
Why, whats so great about Freicoin?

The longer you have them the less of them you keep.
488  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I have 22 BTC, should I spend it on LTC or FTC? on: June 18, 2013, 12:57:30 AM
Personally, I would spend it on BQC because right now its low priced on the market and its accepted in a couple of restaurants on the market.
Isn't LTC already high priced?

The entire BQC network has this nasty habit of completely dying for months at a time though...
But thats the exact time you should buy. It has survived a 51% attack and its better to buy it now when prices are down than to have bought it when it was 7 cents a pop in the early days.
It wont stay down.
Hopefully it goes up to 10 cents each.

That's not exactly how it worked. And after the attack the best course of action was mining rather than buying because you would have had the whole chain to yourself. BQC was dead for months. If LTC an other coins didn't climb BQC might have stayed dead.
489  Economy / Gambling / A Place to sweat your sports bets on: June 18, 2013, 12:40:36 AM
I've been playing with CoinChat a bit recently and decided to set up a SportsTalk room. I'm most in it for the baseball, but there is some interesting hockey tonight with the Bruins and Blackhawks.

If you're stuck in front of the computer during the games come on out and sweat your bets with other bitcoiners.
490  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [scam tag request] user unclescrooge founder and operator of bitfinex.com on: June 17, 2013, 03:11:15 PM
If you have to ask you could probably benefit from the education that comes with searching on your own.

No its because of the rating limiting on the forum search and the fact that I refuse to use Google and let them harvest my data. I do my internet searches using Yacy P2P search, admittedly the search algroithms aren't as good as Google's though so this time I have to forfeit the NSA my data.

Who said anything about using a search engine. Just read for a while.

Read up on some bitcoin history, around 2010.

I thought she was talking about something non-bitcoin related.

Link please? Now I am curious.

492  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: ASIC fucker on Testnet3 on: June 17, 2013, 02:52:14 PM
Might it be someone who is either trying to monetize testnet or alternately someone trying to show why monetizing testnet would destroy it.

It's funny how in the ASIC development threads everyone is saying Avalon should be testing their ASICS on the Testnet rather then the main net. That would be painful.

In the future, ASICs will be the norm on even the most useless alt-chain. I guess we better just get used to it.

EDIT: If the dig at someone trying to monetize testnet is at me, I don't have an ASIC, nor a fancy setup of any sort.

I was thinking favorable to your position or someone with the opposite position who just wants to show how vulnerable testnet is to manipulation in order to discourage monetization. Either is imaginable. I know you don't have ASICs or TRC wouldn't have got stuck waiting for a difficulty drop.

Fail that, I recently met a guy from Bulgaria, his name is Momchil. You know him?

WTF does that have to do with anything? This company that pays you to make them look good is a scammer, simple.

How long you suppose before FTC will ever become not-so-dirt cheap

Its release was timed rather poorly in relation to other altcoins, so it might stay dirt cheap forever.
498  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I have 22 BTC, should I spend it on LTC or FTC? on: June 17, 2013, 01:36:00 AM
Personally I would stick with bitcoins or invest in a bitcoin business.

This is probably safest. Throwing one or two bitcoins onto litecoin speculation might be a fairly safe option. Feathercoin seems as risky as hell though.
