681  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Where to purchase cases from EU? on: July 04, 2017, 08:48:58 PM
If you want open cases your best bet is to just buy a bunch of garage shelves locally or if you want specifically designed aluminium frames then you can also order the parts locally cut to whatever sizes you want them with corner/elbow elements.

Or if you really want to done it cheaply, just get some thin wood (batten?/slat?) and build it yourself.

If you want 4U cases designed for mining I recommend flex design: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1921659

They're the cheapest and have a very sturdy design but they're more loud.

You can only earn as much as you invest and you should probably do your own research.
683  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] EOS on: July 03, 2017, 09:49:06 PM
EOS is an Ethereum competitor and a fork of BitShares. There is no platform as of yet.

EOS is a token run on the Ethereum platform at the moment that is being sold for ETH by a company called "block.one"

The EOS Token Distribution generated over US$185 Million in the first five days, without any existing product.

Discuss Here.

Pick one. Not that I care for Eth but come on, so much money only to rename a previously existing, even old project trying to compete with Eth?
684  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much is acceptable "pre-mining" for an altcoin, if any on: July 03, 2017, 02:47:35 PM
If it is premined, it is scam, as simple as that. The more premine - the scammier the project.

Exactly this.
685  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Remember to check your electrical outlets!!! on: July 03, 2017, 02:02:46 AM
Practically the same reason I'm using 3x4mm2 (~6 AWG) cables per 16A breaker for mining rigs. Ain't no kill like overkill.

Turning thin wires into space heaters with massive voltage drop is no fun.
686  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS GPU server cases on: July 02, 2017, 05:26:47 PM
Bought 2 of these and I'm very happy with them. The package was busted a bit and the cases endured some scratches but they are super sturdy and well designed.

I got about the same temps as cards in frames with plenty of space between them (~20 cm) but the ones in the cases achieved those temps with about 20% less fan speed. And these were 1080 Ti AORUS cards which are super wide and their cooling is not designed to be used in racks (they push air perpendicular to the card and not lengthwise).

Unfortunately, with the 3 fans I have put in the case (EEC0381B1-0000-G99) these are too loud for my liking and since I have plenty of open space I'll be sticking with open frames for now.

If I were to ramp up mining or if sound wouldn't matter I'd be definitely going with these cases.

And compared to other similar cases these are the cheapest.
687  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: self made mining rig from switzerland on: July 02, 2017, 05:14:47 PM
Way, way overpriced compared to flex design: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1921659

This doesn't include the fans, grills and risers but even then it's a much better value proposition.
688  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Cheapest 'PDU' thats at least 12kw? on: July 02, 2017, 04:55:23 AM
Why not just split the power between several smaller circuit breakers, like 16A?

That's way cheaper than a big PDU especially if you're not interested in PDU features.
689  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What is this electrical frying noise? Scared on: July 01, 2017, 11:31:08 AM
It's likely something touching a fan a bit. Or a piece of tape or something flapping in the wind.
690  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best scrypt miner for NVIDIA? on: June 29, 2017, 09:42:48 PM
GPU mining Scrypt is like trying to win an F1 race with a bicycle.

SHA-256 (Bitcoin), Scrypt, X11, Quark, Qubit and a few others have mining specific hardware designed which is much much faster for much less electricity making it pointless to GPU mine.

Try mining Zcash or something like that.

I can't see the options for 'none' or 'all of these are scams'.
693  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Help! .bat file doesn't open - what do i do wrong? on: June 28, 2017, 09:37:29 PM
Put pause at the end of your bat file in a new line so that if ccminer quits the bat file doesn't close until you press a key.
694  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Please stop saying ROI, its Capital Recovery. on: June 28, 2017, 08:23:53 PM
Way to be anal about something so insignificant and create a thread about it but whatever floats your boat I guess.

Since everybody knows what people mean by saying stuff like "I reached my ROI" it's not going to change anytime soon.

695  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Problems Creating a token for a Crowdsale Please help :) on: June 28, 2017, 05:26:09 PM
I really want to use the ethereum network because I love it and the miners will be mining ethereum)
I would pay up to 100 usd to someone who is good to show and help me build the token. I think I managed to build it but I'am not getting any tokens after sending the tx.

Nah, you want some easy money.
696  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can I use 8 pin to double 6+2 pin connector for 1080ti? on: June 28, 2017, 04:01:53 PM
Need some help with power cables from psu to run 3 gtx 1080ti.

Since I only got four 8 pin connections on the psu and each card needs two 8 pin cables, means I only have power for 2 cards. How can I solve this? Can I use a 8pin to two 6+2 pin and only use one cable per graphic cards?

This is how it looks like on the psu:

https://i.imgur.com/StqbM5P.jpg

And here are the 2 GPU's already using all slots with 4 power cables.

https://i.imgur.com/cpoqwL3.jpg

I use the provided 2 x 6 pin into 1 x 8 pin 'Y' cable with the cards.

But then again my cards are heavily power limited (150 watts instead of 300).

8-pin is rated at 150 watts and 6-pin is rated at 75 watts so on paper, limiting to 225 watts should be completely fine.

I wouldn't try it on a multi rail PSU though.
697  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Problems Creating a token for a Crowdsale Please help :) on: June 28, 2017, 03:26:31 PM
You can't even create a simple token yet you want people to give you money?

This is walletbuilders all over again.
698  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will DigiByte be the next Dash ? on: June 28, 2017, 02:19:56 PM
No, Dash will be Dash and DigiByte will be DigiByte.

Coins are not replacing each other.
699  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8 pin to dual 8 pin (6+2) on: June 28, 2017, 01:29:50 PM
The evga 1000gq comes with 4 8+8 pin cables and I'm currently running 4 1080tis. You can't use connectors from different psu as the pin layout is different for each manufacturer.

Hahh! Finally a picture I can actually really see 8+8 cables!

It seems the EVGA SuperNOVA models doesn't have 8+8 cables but other models do.

Weird, really.

I'm curious if the cables for the 1000GQ are interchangeable with the SuperNOVA models. It would be silly if it wouldn't but who knows, time to ask EVGA again.
700  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Risto's CASTLE seized by POLONIEX on: June 28, 2017, 12:30:42 PM
I've heard of this on the Monero channels:

Risto , the CEO of Monero, got his castle in estonia seized by poloniex?

I'm not sure if I can believe this

wasn't he bankrupt and has ongoing scam accusation??

When did Poloniex upgraded from being a simple exchange to an all powerful agency that can seize homes anywhere on Earth? /s

Poloniex can't even answer peoples support tickets, doubt they have the ability or legal power to seize a god-damn castle.

Because they're too busy seizing castles, obviously  Cheesy
