1041  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: a new way to secure the blockchain on: April 25, 2017, 05:42:42 AM
That doesn't say much. What about IPv6 or Tor nodes - both of which is trivially easy to get dozens of?

Poor level 2 fud.

cheers fixed it i had put one of the connectors in incorrectly to the pcie doh all sorted.

just one thing 1 gpu always runs around 10% less hash than the others any ideas?

That card is in which the monitor is plugged in?
1044  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: mining issue on: April 24, 2017, 09:06:33 PM
You probably have the onboard graphics set as primary (Intel® HD Graphics 510) so plug your monitor into the mobo.
1045  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PIVX] - PRIVATE INSTANT VERIFIED TRANSACTION - POS 2.0 - ZEROCOIN PROTOCOL on: April 24, 2017, 07:57:04 PM
Bad news – PoSWallet:

"With the PIVX rewards system, it is more profitable for users to have PIVX in their own staking wallet, especially with > 10,000 as a masternode. Because of this, we are going to delist PIVX from POSWallet.com. Please start withdrawing your PIVX now - we will make sure all users have the ability to withdraw all of their coins. If you need a larger daily withdrawal amount, please open a support ticket. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause, but think it is more important for the community as a whole to earn as much as they possible can staking."

I'd say it's good news. More home staking operation = more nodes and decentralization of funds instead of holding all coins at the mercy of a centralized service that is PoSwallet...

It's not ideal for people who don't run their computers 0-24 though. In that case pick up a cheap old laptop, format it, install OS, firewall, antivirus, PIVX and stake with the added benefit of the battery acting as a UPS for uninterrupted staking.

Or use a Raspberry Pi.
1046  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: gtx 1070 gpu stuck at 139mhz gpuclock (idle mode ?) on: April 24, 2017, 07:02:51 PM
Seems the card is stuck in idle mode. At least it's not crashed (that would stuck at 405 Mhz).

Try turning off power saving options in nvidia driver and windows power options maybe.

Idle mode shouldn't be a problem but it should snap out of it in case of use like mining.

If nothing works try K-Boost in MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision that forces the card to use the boost clock at all times.
1047  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Will PoW be replaced by PoS et al.? on: April 24, 2017, 05:54:59 PM
Of course not.

Staking is very different from mining. In staking you need, well a stake instead of a tangible investment like mining hardware. PoW can also be an initial distribution method (launch a coin and people will mine it).
With staking, you can't do that, you have to give people coins in some way (PoW/ICO/airdrop/etc) before they can make more coins. But even post initial distribution, in staking the rich gets richer which is not great for distribution.

And considering how fast we're flying towards cheap renewable energy, it's safe to say that PoW is here to stay.

1048  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Asus Strix Disconnects on: April 24, 2017, 12:37:54 AM
Philip,

Thanks for taking the time to respond. none of my cards have flash bios's or have been overclocked at all. All RX470's running at factory settings aside from fan speed which I have sped up. I would consider doing smaller rigs though it seems that most user risers with 6-7 cards each no? Just trying to make efficient use of all the other hardware.

it is not efficient to do six and seven card rigs  if all you have is one of them.

How many threads do you see my three card rig is fucked up

vs my 6/7 card rig is fucked up.

That doesn't make any sense at all. 6 cards in one rig beats having them in multiple rigs.
1049  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Custom fan curves for different cards possible? on: April 22, 2017, 01:46:07 AM
Exact fan speed (as in rpm) doesn't matter, temprerature does.

Otherwise, fan speed and temperature curves are based on a percentile fan speed basis which should work for all cards regardless of fan cound or model.

Another thing to note is that reference cards are AWFUL for mining. Their single blower fan is less than subpar for cooling.
1050  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Windows 7 or Windows 10 for staking? on: April 22, 2017, 01:27:36 AM
It's solid, especially if you disable uneccessary scheduled tasks and windows updates. With win10 you can hardly disable windows updates completely and telemetry that might screw things up.

Just my two cents though, wait for others' opinion though.
1051  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Windows 7 or Windows 10 for staking? on: April 22, 2017, 12:24:38 AM
Win7 x64 with some tweaks, not even a question to me.

Two to three things which I want to ask .

First :- Need a Whitepaper ( Which explains the model and the financial system )

Second :- What would be the financial structure of the platform + Mining cloud service and which coins would u mine ( Like btc only or all altcoins which give profits )

Third :- By what time would the platform be ready ?

The mining operation is not a cloud mining operation. We have a physical location from where we are operating our equipment.
What is different about our mining operation when compared to cloud mining is that we have realistic ROI estimates of ~ 3 months.
To confirm our estimates, we are conducting a test run and expanding afterwards pending results of the test run.
What coin we are mining will vary but it will depend on analysis done by the APX Team along with input from our mining adviser.
There is no set date on platform release but we are aiming for release by September 2017.

In some cases, to preserve speed and knowledge advantages, I won't even have time to disclose what is being mined until the play is complete. Much like I do personally with my own mining now.

The basic mining program will attempt to speculatively mine single coins that have a good chance of price growth that would beat current multipool baselines. From time to time, as opportunities arise, I will be pulling some or all our available hashpower into time-critical mining plays.

The 3-month ROI is a very tall order Ace has given me to fill, but on a small scale like we're starting with, it's not impossible. The last mining unit I bought, I ROI'd in just under six weeks. I researched and mined a coin that was fundamentally undervalued and out of the spotlight to do that. There are plenty of similar opportunities out there.

But it is a cloud mining operation with some obscurity and a ridiculous ROI projection based on speculative mining which, as I already stated, is both high risk and not sustainable.

If you really had 3 months to ROI consistently, you wouldn't brag about it, let alone sell/share it. Or, at the very least it would not be scalable.

Ignoring the mining part, the project stinks, even more so with every comment trying to defend it.

A recap:
 - super profitable but secret mining opportunity, but "not a cloud mining service";
 - will be super profitable but we need money;
 - Crypto Review will help reducing the risk associated with investing into coins, but donate to us with a waiver that gives up all your rights and demands which puts this coin on the level of gambling on a casino machine;
 - it's an ICO, but let's not call it an ICO due to legal purposes.

Blows my mind how many people seem to willing to throw money at the this based solely on reputation. As if that would have any meaningful merit when it comes to actually implementing projects like this.

Your assumptions aren't necessarily correct and I would like to respectfully disagree. You simply view things from a different perspective than others.
Please feel free to keep tabs on this project. Maybe you'll change your mind after some time.

Doubtful, but not impossible. My point is that with every comment you give less and less reason to invest (to others as I have never ever invested in any ICO with a good reason).

Expecting 300+ BTC to invest into mining with ~3 months to break even is bleeding from a couple of holes:
 - 3 months to ROI is pretty much impossible (even with free electricity) and even with a magic miner it's not sustainable;
 - even if it were true, why would anyone sell/share their golden egg laying goose?

A crypto reviewing service sounds like a noble idea (if it's not susceptible to corruption) but I don't think it warrants even a fraction the amount that is asked.

"This is not your ordinary cloud mining operation"

It sure does sounds like it though; overpromising with some sprinkles on top of it. The whole project seem to ask way too much for way too little to me.

"Through Crypto Review we hope to mitigate a large portion of risk that is commonly found in the blockchain space"

Oh, the irony.

Anyway, just my 2 cents.

Unnecessary drama.

$500 volume is nothing and it's probably there to prevent random shitcoins with no value and enough supply to get on the front page all of a sudden which happened a couple of times - which is just a form of abusing CMK trying to get noticed.

Premain: 10%

People slowly started to turn aways from ICOs so we're back to premined bullshit? Come up with something new.

Two accounts, two threads? You can edit posts you know...

which coin do you think  will benn  listed  on  poloniex next.

1,ark
2,kmd
3,byteball
4,time
5,vidz
6,dtb
7,wings
8,posw
9,edg

Hopfully PIVX. It has the most volume by far on Bittrex for weeks now. But it's hurting because ~95% of the volume is on Bittrex.

1060  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is instamine and Premine? Is it good ? on: April 19, 2017, 12:08:59 AM
Yes, premine is basically a few high reward blocks the dev solomines before releasing the coin (wallet, source, etc).

Instamine is when blocks are mined way too fast than what was intended; let's say the block target is 60 seconds, so 1 block should be mined roughly every 60 seconds. There's a mechanism in place that controls the complexity of solving the next block (based on how fast blocks are being found by miners), called difficulty retarget. Which make blocks harder to mine if blocks are mined too fast and vice versa. Coins are almost always launch with very very low difficulty and it takes time for the difficulty retarget to increase the complexity of solving blocks by a huge amount and when a coin is launched, a huge amount of miners will start mining while the difficulty is only slowly climbing.

Instamining can be as fast as mining hundreds of blocks within minutes. And can last a long time, depending on the difficulty retarget in place.

Alright thanks.

Therefore what would be an appropriate amount of % for premine?

Depends on a few thigns but generally 0%.

Anything above and distribution is arguably not fair.
