Title says it all. Got it in for someone who backed out of the deal. In hand in the USA. $165 $150 gets it to you anywhere in the lower 48. -Dave

What is the deal with the soldering on bitmain's hardware? The R4's and S9's both have those sometimes poorly-soldered inductors - the big orange/red things with two solder spots 'underneath'. On two of my R4 boards one set has the inductor leads smooth and almost flush with the board and on another one the leads are poking out several mm away from the surface of the solder joint. What on earth!? Consistently inconsistent.
Someone's message was deleted as it was probably spam so my response was deleted as well. Hopefully it won't be flagged this time!
I will be amazed if Bitmain ever comes out with another batch of the R4's. I will also be pretty happy to pay them for such a batch if they can ensure better reliability. R4's are awesome in terms of sound level and efficiency. I am slowly prototyping some scroll fan style cooling across solid aluminum and copper blocks on things like Avalon and S9 designs. I'm not sure if there's just too much heat on the newer boards or if the design of the long r4 boards was the reason it would work with a scroll/ac style fan.
I've been able to repair several of these with limited knowledge and have good success repairing the 6 pin pci-e connectors.
One board I haven't repaired yet is strange - the power light on the board is flickering intermittently, not with a pattern or anything. Does this sound more like a reflow kind of thing or could an inductor or cap be crapping out causing that?
Very poor quality. I have had several top boards die due to them being hotter (heat rises, who knew). Some people have repaired them with new caps, some had the voltage regulator go poof. I would try caps and then reflow 1st, then start tracing the voltage back. It's way above what I can do, but those are the reports from the people who worked on them. -Dave

On Titan Coin telegram channel they said that a private sale has started from 14 October to 14 November. Following the private sale they plan to list Titan Coin on several exchanges.
Cool, thanks for the update. Too many telegram channels to follow and too little time to do it in. -Dave

Been meaning to ask, where in Brooklyn are you?
The address you give is for a nice insta office. Since I don't think they would like you doing prototyping & soldering there I am guessing that you have an assembly place somewhere nearby. I'm on LI in eastern Nassau so even though I chose to have it shipped it might be nice to stop over and talk one day. That is, if either one of us can ever find that mythical thing called "free time".

I think Fan 3 was taken off a small jet :-) Seriously, anyone have any idea on what can be causing it so show that speed? Temps are good, it's been up and mining for 2 weeks now since I last changed pools. Checked in today to verify all was good as I got a notification from my secondary pool and saw the speed of a fan that does not exist. Thanks, Dave

Title says it all. You get all four, for BTC.015 shipped in the US. All other places add BTC.0025 and it will take an extra few days since I have to drive to the post office. No, I do not have the peeled holograms, they are long gone. If you have any questions ask. Thanks, Dave

Not to put pressure on the people who are working on the client, but I think we need a new one now.
New client and instructions were posted this past week. As stated a few weeks ago, I don't have a machine I can compile on. Unless I missed it (entirely possible) you just posted a windows exe file. The explorer is on a Linux box. I'll throw up a windows VM and get your client and the bootstrap and go from there. Give me a day or two and it should be be back and synced. -Dave

It looks like they have gone away but kept the site up to get money from the OP and have some people like myself keep the ads up on their site. Yes, I'm an idiot and never noticed (due to the low number of hits on my site) that I was owed some money and never got it. You can try BitMedia.io for advertising (shameless referral link: https://bitmedia.io/?r=DaveF ) but I would at this point write off your deposit into MellowAds. Same way I wrote off the BTC.005 Mellow owes me. -Dave

Yep, I am seeing the same thing. The few nodes that the block explorer are connecting to that are good NDL are all at the same spot. Did someone mining fork off or is there another issue? Not to put pressure on the people who are working on the client, but I think we need a new one now and then you can do regular releases over the next few weeks / months / whatever till all the new features are in.
But, I am not a programmer or developer so I have no idea if that is going to be a bigger task or not.

Wow, I started mining this the day it came out and ran with it for weeks / months. Then difficulty spiked and there were no buy orders on any exchange. I stopped paying attention to it at that point. I had no idea that it was still active & had people interested in it. Sorry to hear about the delisting. Had I known it was still active with other people, I probably would have been paying attention.

Any updates? Anything happening with this? There have been no updates on Twitter / medium in months.
Just a ping out of "we are working on stuff" would be nice.

Edit: wait, was it segwit that splintered the bitcoin community or was is the increase in block size? I don't recall.
Both. -Dave

I have been kind of quiet as of late. Work has just been non stop busy and my time for side projects has dropped to almost zero. But there only seems to be 4 or 5 of us here on a regular basis. Looking at the low number of "real" nodes and the low amount of mining I think number435398 has the correct idea:
Push forward with a new client and see if we can get any traction anywhere for exchanges or anything else. If we keep this thread active if there are any other people who don't know what is going on if their nodes stop syncing and they care I would think this thread would be the 1st place they look.
As far as I know dnp runs the dognose nodes
Since I am running the explorer and the .net website I *DO NOT* want to be in the position of making *ANY* decisions. That would make it look too much like I am forcing what I want on the community.

This is actually a worry of mine. One day the node that the explorer talks to is going to walk away on another chain and not come back. -Dave

And at this moment there is over 100 Gh/s hitting the coin. Difficulty is 1100 give or take a bit. WTH? You can't sell it anyplace as far as I can see. That is a lot of power for what?

Looking for some guidance modifying the gen to add a PIVX clone. What/where do I need to modify the code? TIA
Since PIVX already exists in one of the vanitygen builds, you would have to base it off of here: https://github.com/exploitagency/vanitygen-plus-Dave

I am thinking November honestly. They may release info about pricing and release dates available for preorder in October though. That's usually how they do it. Price is what is going to be most important, canaan makes great miners but price is always the highest. The competitor is the M10 at the moment which keep in mind also comes with power supply at $1788. So we will round up and just say $1800-1850 shipped all said and done to your door. If Canaan stays under $2000 they have this in the bag. If over $2000, it would be iffy considering by that time the M10 will be 2nd batch and $1600. I wouldn't be very happy paying say $2300 for essentially a 28-30TH miner with power supply all said and done knowing I could have gotten a M10 miner for most likely $1600-1700 all said and done and be pushing 3 more TH. So they have to be weary of the price. Same with the litecoin miner they have coming out.
Canaan has usually started high in price and then dropped. I have been buying them since their 4.0 / 4.1 (2014?) and Bitmain and others have always been cheaper. The Avalons have been better more solid products. The 1720 watts is going to be an issue. Yes I know 220v is better then 110v but I have a lot of 110v / 20a circuits that are going to be too close to comfort to run at that power. If I can drop the speed a bit and get it to 1600w at the wall I might look into getting a few. -Dave
