701  Economy / Services / Re: LoyceV's Avatar for Rent [first 🦊🦊🦊🦊4 YEARS🦊🦊🦊🦊 (227 weeks) rented out] on: July 30, 2023, 10:49:37 PM
While I'm waiting for more than 4 months now for The Pharmacist to bring me also a slice of FLÜGGÅӘNK∂€ČHIŒßØLʃÊN
Now I have to ask, how do you write all of those characters?  I don't even know how I'd go about writing even one of those (and I'm talking about the word I've bolded and embiggened).  Been here over 8 years and I'm still like a newborn when it comes to shit like that.

Them fox titties are also appealing to me, but I think I've expressed my appreciation so I'll leave it at that.

It also didn't help that I shun (anti)social media and thus produced little evidence of my continued existence outside of the forum itself.
Word up, Fox-goddess.  Though I could probably be doxxed within 30 seconds, it wouldn't be because of my social media presence.
702  Economy / Economics / Re: The Vulture "Economist" on: July 30, 2023, 10:21:58 PM
May I ask what the two Legendary members above are replying to, exactly?  I don't understand whatever it is OP is trying to get across, and if I were just a tad more motivated I'd check that post for plagiarism (Not accusing you, OP.  Just my suspicious mind being suspicious).

That story OP unspooled has a lot of....oddities in it.  So I'd also like to ask him what his point is--and that's if he's even monitoring this thread, which I've got my doubts about.
703  Other / Meta / Re: how do mod get selected? do they get paid? on: July 30, 2023, 07:43:16 PM
These questions are not necessary.
Not necessary of course, but I think it's only natural to wonder about how mods are selected and how much they're paid--the latter question isn't anybody's business except the mods' and Theymos's though.

I was just thinking about this very thing in EFS's 10-year celebratory thread:

It's always been somewhat of a mystery to me how one becomes a staff member.  I know reporting is a factor, but I'm not sure what else Theymos looks for.  Eh, just thinking aloud.

And on that subject, does anyone know who the last moderator to be added was?  The last one I recall was Flying Hellfish, but he kind of just vanished and after that I don't remember any others being anointed so publicly as he was.
704  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk's outdated and dysfunctional layout is so f***ing annoying on: July 30, 2023, 07:31:10 PM
I know your pain. My inbox is 235 pages, my outbox 186 pages. Have you considered downloading your PMs and managing them locally? See Backup/Sort Private Messages/PM/DM (I haven't tried this).
Oh wow, I didn't realize this thread was so old until I merited OP--but whatever, he's got a good point even a couple of years later.  The messaging system is one of only a few things about bitcointalk that I'd like to see updated.

And LoyceV, thanks for that suggestion.  I've got a few PMs that I'd like to save, but the rest have outlived their usefulness and I guess I missed that thread you linked to.  Oops.

Of course, considering we won't get a new forum software anytime soon, it's a very good idea.  Smiley
C'mon, what makes you say that?  It's ready to be released any day now.  Any day.
705  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Kucoin to introduce mandatory KYC on: July 28, 2023, 09:23:14 PM
I can only think of a few, like Bitget and Mexc, that still permit limitless trading without requiring KYC.
No offence, do you work with or for Bitget? Almost all of your posts have something to do with "how good Bitget is".
By the way, Bitget do not allow limitless trading without KYC, there is a daily withdrawal limit of $50,000 and monthly withdrawal limit of $100,000 [1] for users who have not completed their kyc.
I could have sworn that even mexc had withdrawal limits for non-verified customers--but I could be thinking of some other exchange; there's so many of them, each with different terms of service and everything else.  Never heard of Bitget, btw.  Are they some fly-by-night kind of exchange or have I been missing something right under my nose all this time?

And as I already posted in this thread, I don't have more to say about Kucoin and its new KYC policy but I do wonder how many customers they've lost because of the change.  Seriously, KYC is no small thing in the world of crypto, and with there being so many alternatives (for the moment at least) I have a hard time believing they haven't taken a big hit.  Not that we'll ever know since they don't report their balance sheet like a publicly traded company, but has anyone noticed a drop in volume or any other sign that their user base has started jumping ship?
706  Economy / Reputation / Re: Another giveaway, or how merit hunters smell the catch. on: July 28, 2023, 04:33:41 PM
pshshshshsh

Exhale and cool down. And read above. I wrote the farm, except for two users.
Lol.  EarnOnVictor, the finger isn't being pointed at you (that I know of).  This definitely looks like an idiotic attempt to distribute merits to....whoever.  Friends, fellow countrymen, alt accounts, who knows.  I'd say good eyes on this one, OP.  I hadn't noticed any of this, though I wouldn't have tagged any of the accounts anyway.

That's not to say these merit abusers couldn't or shouldn't be tagged by DT members or anyone else, but long ago I started choosing my battles and vowed not to go after merit abuse.  Theymos wants the community to tread lightly as far as that's concerned anyway.
707  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: walletgeneratordotnet scam Paper wallet generation scam on: July 28, 2023, 12:07:40 AM
It's really bad that 2 scamsites have been making victims for many years.
Jesus, that is bad.  I don't know enough about SEO in order to personally lay blame on Google, but if the original owners had gotten the site to the top of Google's search results for "paper wallet" or whatever keywords caused the site to pop up to the top, the buyer of the site got really lucky and bought a scammer's gold mine.

And no doubt if the site stays up it'll keep sucking in the newcomers and/or those that don't know enough not to create a paper wallet like that.  It'd be awesome if this thread showed up somewhere near walletgeneratordotnet in search results....any chance that could happen?
708  Economy / Reputation / Re: 10 Years on: July 27, 2023, 06:52:05 PM
I generally dislike self-congratulatory threads of this nature, so I'm not going to give out any merits or praise but ten years on the forum and becoming a staff member does deserve some respect, so that much I'll grant you.  Sticking around bitcointalk for that many years is kind of an anomaly I think; most newbies don't form attachments to the forum like you did, and when they get sick of doing bounties or get banned they just disappear.

And yeah, I like the old-school look of the forum too.  It hasn't changed much since I registered in 2015 except for some of the functionalities.  A consistent user interface is something that a lot of companies (ebay is a great example) just don't understand the importance of.  Who wants a website they visit frequently to keep changing appearance and other stuff every month?  Bleh.

It's always been somewhat of a mystery to me how one becomes a staff member.  I know reporting is a factor, but I'm not sure what else Theymos looks for.  Eh, just thinking aloud.
709  Other / Meta / Re: Merit source and top merit earners on: July 26, 2023, 07:09:18 PM
They do really have the advantage and this what make this system sucks.
Advantage over what?  Getting into signature campaigns?

Has it crossed your mind that most merit sources have been members here for years and have had to demonstrate to Theymos through their merit source applications that 1) they want to help the forum by volunteering to keep the merit system running, 2) they know which posts are merit-worthy and which are crap, 3) they've been here long enough to prove that they're not likely to abuse the system?

As far as sources receiving the most merits, that's not necessarily a negative (though I'd like to see more merits going to lower-ranked members).  If a source like fillipone or LoyceV, for example, is one of the top merit earners they've simply gotten more sMerits to hand out--which they will eventually if they run out of source sMerits.

This is a non-issue that I've never heard brought up before.  It reeks of jealousy, OP.
710  Other / Meta / Re: Addition of more forum boards/sections and modifications. Any need currently? on: July 25, 2023, 11:15:28 PM
We need some better incentives to make members active besides signature campaigns.
There is nothing that's going to incentivize anyone to be more active than they already are or that will attract new members like a mechanism by which members are paid to post.  Nothing.  I've visited various altcoin forums, ones whose communities are fairly large and passionate, yet most of the discussions die off after just a few posts and by comparison bitcointalk is a beehive so buzzing with activity that the queen bee got trampled to death long ago and all the worker bees are high on crack.

Plus why exactly would we need any growth on the forum?  Bitcointalk isn't a business, and if there were no sig campaigns the activity and quality of discussions being had would just be whatever it's going to be.

In my personal opinion, we need to remove the merit system now and go back to old system where users rank increases with forum posting and time spent on forum.
HERESY!!!, you absolute LUNATIC!!!!

I'm only 1/8th joking with that--we registered only a few months apart, and I know you saw exactly what I saw in the years leading up to the merit system.  Don't you remember how this forum was being overrun with shitposters, account farmers, spammers, and spit-dribbling retards?  That glorious day the merit system came down from the heavens....it felt like the gorilla gang bang in progress had a cannon fired at it, and even though ducking was a must to avoid the shit spray you could tell that things were going to get better.

And they did.  Less activity maybe, but way fewer one-line, zero-value posts.
711  Economy / Services / Re: LoyceV's Avatar for Rent [first 🦊🦊🦊🦊4 YEARS🦊🦊🦊🦊 (226 weeks) rented out] on: July 25, 2023, 06:25:10 PM

Are you crying out for toilet paper?  It's hard to hear you through the walls of your box, plus your accent is thick as thrush.

I'd like to thank the academy, ladies and gents.  I'd also like to thank the little people that helped me on my journey to becoming the slovenly, sodden slob that I am today.  And finally my gratitude doth flow like rivers to wherever Foxxy's hidey-hole is.  That last part was sincere.

We're out of ass-wipe, Leo.  You're just going to have to make do while the rest of us try to hold in the laughter until the key arrives.
712  Other / Meta / Re: Charles-Tim merit source application on: July 25, 2023, 05:49:16 PM
Create a new one with focused on the Nigerian board (that's move your new application to a new thread and lock this one). I won't have noticed you applied to be a source if I wasn't quoted.
There's no reason for Charles-Tim to create two separate merit source application threads, regardless of whether you or he wants to emphasize the fact that he'll be acting as one of the Nigerian board sources.  If Theymos has read this thread (and I'm guessing he has and probably is still following it), he'll know what the deal is.

Besides, Charles-Tim could easily edit the title of this thread and, aside from that, if he starts up another one I bet you he'll get criticism for being redundant.  It's a no-win situation if he does that.

Theymos, where are you at??  We pleebs need some guidance down here in the trenches of this nice little forum that you're the administrator of.  What are your thoughts about how the merit system is functioning?  Are you planning on adding any more merit sources?  I think the local boards in particular need a few more, as a number of them are extremely active and the members of which are apparently going under-merited.  Can't have that now, right?

while some who enevr even applied became merit sources.
Yeah, that was 2019 but I forget the month.  I was one of those who was handed a job and told to go forth and prosper, etc.  I can't even remember the last time Theymos spoke about the merit system in a thread.
713  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Exchange] GRAVIEX Exchange: low fees, fast withdrawals, high security on: July 24, 2023, 10:00:51 PM
Graviex is a total scam and stealing peoples coins. Stop using this exchange. They are not registered anywhere. No license to track nor office location. They can do an exit scam anytime. Stay away from this exchange as they are unlicensed.
Not going to argue with your reasoning one bit, but did you bump this thread because you got scammed by them or are you just boosting your post count?  If it's the former, you should fill out a scam accusation form in a separate thread.

Ironically, these oddball exchanges that don't seem to be registered anywhere are the ones that don't require KYC and seem to be drawing in a lot of customers because of that and because they list all the shitty altcoins as soon as they're cranked out of the meat grinder.  You're taking your chances with any of them, but the day is soon coming when there won't be any non-KYC exchanges left.  If I'm not mistaken, graviex has been around a while and does at least have some kind of track record.

But you're still spot-on about the risk of them just disappearing overnight with their customers' funds.  On the other hand, the same could be said of SouthXchange, Yobit, Xeggex, and a long list of similar exchanges.
714  Economy / Reputation / Re: CryptoHF why give me some feedback on: July 24, 2023, 08:51:35 PM
I have had a brief look at to your account history and from what I see it does not look as though this is your first account. Feel free to add further responses on that view.
I haven't delved into OP's history, but somehow I believe you.  It's been my experience that a lot of so-called newbies aren't actually new to the forum but alt accounts created for one purpose or another, and usually they're going to deny it.

Looks like the feedback in question was removed.  Honestly, I'm not sure how OP even noticed it unless he habitually checks his trust page.  It wouldn't have shown up red since CryptoHFs isn't on DT, and OP doesn't have any other feedback...so I'm not sure why he'd even be looking for it unless he was given a heads-up.

Tag it I don't really care, you guys worship the tags here like the forum is you life  Grin
Yeah well, the forum does mean a lot to many members here (myself included) and if there weren't people trying to mop up all the shit, it would stink worse than it already does.  Y'all take care, now.

BitcoinGirl.Club, one thing I like you is, you always fight for justice, you are an ACTIVIST in the forum, the matter what people like you. You don't like oppression, I believe you are from the non-conformist school of thought, keep it up. Better days are coming. Yes as you said, CryptoHF as a new comer in the forum has not really understand how to use the trust system so he or she misused the feedback, so it is good to call his attention to know if it was a mistake or he knew it and did it knowingly.
Sort of off-topic, but I regret giving you all the merits I did.  I'd like to say I was high out of my mind at the time, but that wasn't it.  Ugh.
715  Other / Meta / Re: Charles-Tim merit source application on: July 24, 2023, 06:35:36 PM
Every time I post in one of these application threads (and I've already posted in this one), I wonder what Theymos's plans are as far as adding new merit sources, whether he thinks there's enough merits circulating, and basically what's on his mind with respect to the merit system in general.

And then Charles-Tim's application gets bumped after nearly two years--that implies that unless there's a serious problem with members not ranking up as fast as they should, Big Boss probably isn't going to add any new sources.  Too bad, because there have been some good members applying to be sources and it's hard to believe there aren't some sources that need to be replaced for whatever reason.

Theymos, can ya come on down from the mountain and drop some knowledge on us?
716  Economy / Economics / Re: Pool strategy of investment for wealth multiplication. on: July 24, 2023, 12:49:46 PM
Just throwing this out there:  business and family/friends generally don't mix.  And OP, what you've described is not exactly a revolutionary new idea.  There are many examples of family members pooling their wealth to invest in whatever ventures they're into.  The Winklevoss twins come to mind immediately in the context of crypto.

Plus if you just want to pool your wealth with others to invest in things like stocks, mutual funds exist solely for that purpose.  In general though, I really don't think it's a good idea to get involved with a business transaction with someone close to you--if things go sour with money, they can easily go sour with the relationship, and IMO money just isn't as important as family and friends in life.
717  Economy / Reputation / Re: DireWolfM14 you gave me delusional feedback that is so far away from truth on: July 21, 2023, 10:41:24 PM
even Switzerland suggested I leave that tag.  Embarrassed
LOL.

It's sad that people handle out feedback like that, I think it's only hurting the forums reputation and make it harder for it to grow in general.
It's been that way for years in case you haven't noticed.  It's just that you're now on the receiving end of some feedback you don't agree with.  And I'm not clear on this: were you asking for all of those documents in your lending thread (the income statement, etc.)?  I looked at your terms and didn't see anything like that and don't know if you'd made changes or not.  Hopefully you weren't, because despite you stating adamantly that your intention wouldn't be to use that information to scam anyone, no one can read your mind.  A scammer and an honest lender would both say the same thing, so who's to say?

What is truly sad is that both of you little bitches are complaining about the neutral feedback on your profiles, while at the same time, you are leaving retaliatory feedback and thus abusing the trust system yourselves.
Now, now.  I'm not familiar with CYBER_COWBOY, but DireWolfM14 is certainly not a bitch of any size.
718  Other / Meta / Re: Icopress ' Merit Source Application on: July 21, 2023, 08:16:27 PM
I'm posting this because it's impossible to become a merit source without an app.
Even though it is (very) rare, that's tehnically not correct as few members got merit source status 2 years ago when theymos did merit "readjustement" without applying to be a merit source.
Wasn't that 4 years ago?  I recall it being 2019 when Theymos told me I was now a merit source and to go forth and prosper.  Lol.  Either way, it's practically impossible to become a merit source right now without creating an application thread, and if icopress didn't do it isn't likely Theymos would even know he was interested in the job.  But I guess I'm nitpicking.

I support your application, icopress.  I also think we probably need more merit sources in general, though it's hard to tell since there's a lack of data about which ones are still active, how active they are, and so forth.  All we've got is merit data and a Meta thread dedicated to members who've recently ranked up.  In any case, you know which posts deserve merits and which don't so good luck catching Theymos's attention, and if he happens to see this I'm hoping he'll tap you to be a merit source.
719  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation is making a mess of my savings. on: July 21, 2023, 02:50:38 AM
The gravity of the inflation is something that's felt different depending on where you find yourself. For the advanced countries the effect of the inflation could be mild on them when compared to those of the third world or developing countries of the south pole.
Well that's why I asked OP where he was from, because I assumed that wherever he is he's getting slammed by inflation worse than Americans are (for the moment anyway).  And believe me, I sympathize with folks who live in countries with poor economies and who work their asses off just to have inflation eat away at the purchasing power of their wages.  That shit's not right; it's never been right, but there have always been inflationary periods and we've all got to ride them out one way or another.

There are developing countries on the south pole?

But if I may ask, who almakes up this IMF? Where are they located? All answers leads to the West.
I know you're not asking me specifically, but I'll just answer anyway: I don't have a fuckin' clue.  I don't care, and I hope they die a slow, painful death.

All I can say to OP is to diversify into other means of income that's the only route to beating this inflation mess. Plan and curtail your expenses. Luckily for you, you have idea of bitcoin so invest more on bitcoin with your savings rather than it laying dormant in one bank account with no annual profit at the end of the year. Don't put your hopes on IMF or the world bank...... No one is coming to save you but you.
Bitcoin doesn't provide any income, and if you're suggesting that OP work another job I think it's probably not a bad idea if it allows him to sock away some money for investments (as opposed to savings).  Aside from bitcoin, he might want to look into the stock market if he's got any free cash.

Inflation is the theft of people's labor.
Again, that saying comes to mind that I don't always get correct.  It goes something like "inflation is theft, taxation is robbery" (or it's the other way around).  And you wonder why the average working person can't get ahead, can't save, can't pass on property to their children when they die.  All of that seems to be reserved for the rich--and bitching about it is pointless, since people have been doing it for centuries and yet nothing ever changes.
