1361  Economy / Reputation / Re: Hello World || Welcome back again! on: October 14, 2022, 09:26:25 AM
This will be my Reference post for negative feedback. I've only left 2 negative tags this year, congratulations on being numbers 3 to 6!
Ah, you beat me to it.  Anyway, I've tagged all four accounts as well--and I haven't been leaving nearly as many negatives as I used to, but in this case the recipient is as deserving of ruined profiles as any person with multiple alts I've ever come across.

I'm pissed that I wasted so many merits on all of those accounts combined.  I've been begging Theymos for an increase in source sMerits and meanwhile I was unwittingly giving them away to all of that shithead's accounts.

It's a top secret and shouldn't we keep it that way? Discussing it openly do not make us great. It's our own shame that we created it in the community. There are even a topic about it of different type of allies we have in bitcointalk LOL. But we don't seriously admit it except we like to make fun from it. Thick skin gang, merit recycling club, wall observer gang these are some good ones IMO. Obviously yahoo does not fit to any of these gangs. Does he fit in car clowns? Not sure :-P
No idea what you're trying to say here.
1362  Economy / Reputation / Re: Hello World || Welcome back again! on: October 14, 2022, 03:56:18 AM
OK, for the record I did not read naim027's confession post in detail before I made my previous post (sorry, my ADD is no joke).  Since AnotherAlt and CryptoS0ul have both been requesting post history reviews from me, that's coming to a stop right now.  I was aware that those two accounts were under the control of the same person, but I didn't know who that person was until now.

I don't support ban evasion or using me to rank up two accounts whilst being banned.  Naim027, you had my support.  Now you have a FUCK YOU

And Royse777, yahoo62278's reputation far outweighs your own.  If you seriously want to start attacking his credibility, you ought to know he has way, way more allies than you do.  That's not a battle you're going to win.
1363  Economy / Economics / Re: Court win for worker fired for not keeping webcam on on: October 14, 2022, 01:07:53 AM
Quote

Methods included monitoring emails and files, webcams on work computers, tracking when and how much a worker is typing, calls made and movements made by the worker, through use of CCTV and trackable devices.
Ugh, I hate to read stories like this.  I fully realize we've already turned into a world where Big Brother is watching us all the time, but reading reports of it just brings home the reality of how much we're all being watched.

This doesn't affect me personally, as I don't work from home, nor is that my country but I can't see how all that surveillance is necessary.  Can't employers use other yardsticks for productivity instead of actually wanting to watch their employees work via a webcam?  At the end of the day, the employer should be able to tell who's goofing off at home (assuming those workers have quotas to reach or something similar to measure how much work they've put in).

Cameras are everywhere, and I mean everywhere.  Give work-from-home employees a freakin' break.
1364  Economy / Reputation / Re: Hello World || Welcome back again! on: October 13, 2022, 09:41:26 PM
If I am casinocritique I would also seriously consider severing any relationship with this user if the accusation is found to be true.
Ugh....I supported naim027's ban appeal, as I saw him as more than your typical shitposter, and while I hope this accusation isn't true I kinda-sorta get the feeling it is.  I don't know why I was so soft-hearted with him when I've eviscerated so many others in their ban appeal threads. *Oops, I just read his last post in which he confessed*

Either way, I'd be willing to bet Casino Critique wouldn't sever ties with him if it turned out he was evading a ban.  It's against the forum rules for sure, but I doubt it would constitute a breach of trust in the eyes of the rest of the team.  We'll see, though.

Naim027, you were lucky to get your ban overturned.  If I were you, I'd be grateful and also be quieter about it.  The more you post, the more you're turning people against you.  Obviously quite a few senior members here don't think your second chance was deserved, so a little humility would serve you well right now.

1365  Economy / Economics / Re: Uber Doordash plunge after regulation proposal change to worker classification on: October 13, 2022, 09:13:52 PM
A better compromise could be for businesses to provide independent contractors with plane tickets and funds to receive healthcare in mexico.
I was reading your post in all seriousness until I came to the above....and I just have to ask: are you joking??  I hope so, because not only wouldn't the gig workers not go for that (they'd be crazy if they did), but who's going to fly to Mexico for a yearly physical or a broken leg or, or, or...I could just keep going on about how impractical that would be.

Why do I get the feeling that the timing of this is suspicious, with midterm elections coming up?  I haven't been following any political news lately, simply because my sanity depends on it, but I'm certainly not naive as to how politicians bob and weave when voters are paying attention to their moves the most.  Remember, their primary goal, first and foremost, is to get elected and/or remain in power.  If that means pandering to the working class by performative legislation, it's not beneath any of them.

Goddamn, we need a Republican in the White House more than ever.  It's unfortunate that Trump might be the only viable candidate next time around, but Biden is just a meat puppet who'll be lucky if he doesn't die in office.  Ugh.
1366  Other / Archival / Re: What a wonderful merit overflow on: October 13, 2022, 08:10:33 PM
I am not sure if It's a good idea from me to leave a neutral feedback on hunnyfinance profile for future reference. What do you think, folks?
If I still left negative trust for merit abusers, this is one case where I'd have no doubt about what's going on.  If the timing alone weren't enough evidence, the fact that 34 merits were given to an absolute shitpost should eliminate any doubts that these two accounts are either alts or that there's some merit being sold.

Theymos might have written that guidance a while back, but it's not like he's going to punish anyone for tagging an account in an instance like this--nor would many, if any, DT members have any problem with it either.  My point is that if you think this is blatant merit abuse and warrants more than a neutral feedback, my advice is to be bold and leave a neg.  No debate is needed when the shenanigans is so obvious you'd have to be legally blind or sound asleep to miss it.
1367  Economy / Economics / Re: Made in America is back, leaving US factories scrambling to find workers on: October 13, 2022, 07:45:08 PM
It sounds so surreal hearing about companies and factories having a hard time looking for workers. From where I am, it's always the other way around. Workers abound, jobs are elusive.
In the US, it's probably true that manufacturers are having a hard time finding workers--and the reason might be because of what the article says right in the beginning, that so many companies have been outsourcing for so many years that schools don't even train kids for jobs in manufacturing anymore.  I'm not 100% that's the case, but I don't think people in their 20s-30s in the US are going to be looking to work in machine shops or on assembly lines, even if they have the skills to do so.

Plus I think if there's a shift away from the US getting most of its manufacturing done in China and wherever else, it's going to be a temporary thing.  After all, there's a reason all of those jobs went overseas in the first place, i.e., it's so much cheaper than hiring American workers.  We'll see.
1368  Other / Meta / Re: Top reporters on: October 13, 2022, 03:56:22 PM
If you only look at everything from a financial perspective (or I didn't get a badge, so I won't take part in it anymore)
Lucius, you have some kind of unhealthy obsession with financial perspective. Cheesy Not everything in this world revolves around money.
It's so damn hard to pick up on sarcasm here, it drives me nuts sometimes.  Not sure if there was a misunderstanding or not, but I think Lucius was commenting on doing things like reporting shitposts and everything else to the mods without being paid for it, and I didn't detect any need on his part for a financial incentive to do so--just that members ought to be doing that stuff if they really care about the forum.

Sort of like being a good merit source, I'd imagine.  Nobody is getting paid to do that "job" and some merit sources didn't even ask Theymos for the position.  The ones who consistently distribute merit, just like the members who consistently report posts to the mods, are doing so because they're trying to keep bitcointalk running smoothly.

And I know Theymos is wildly inconsistent with his data dumping with respect to the top reporters, but I'd like to see the most recent data if he's got it (and I'm sure he does).  I wouldn't even be in the top 100, but being a top reporter is really an underappreciated title if you ask me.  They at least deserve a post mentioning their hard work once in a while, no?
1369  Other / Meta / Re: Section to avoid and section to postl on: October 13, 2022, 02:19:04 PM
First of all, look for the rules ....know 'em.
OP, listen to the above advice as it can prevent you from getting banned.  There have been so many members who apparently never read the rules (or just didn't care about them) who've wound up pleading with the mods to get their account back, it's ridiculous.

In addition to what others have written, my advice to you would be to stay out of forum drama (usually taking place in either the Reputation or Meta sections) until you establish yourself as a member.  Otherwise people are going to think you're just trying to earn merits or increase your post count or whatever.

By the way, there's no real hierarchy aside from the various ranks, although I'm talking about regular members and not the moderators or Theymos.  This forum (I think) is supposed to be a meritocracy, where people are judged based on the quality of their contribution to it.  I'd say that's more or less true, because there aren't as many cliques as there used to be.

Oh, it helps if you have a thick skin and can shrug off vicious criticism/trolling/attacks without acting like a baby.  Bitcointalk is one of the freest forums I've ever seen, so moderators aren't going to step in when someone calls you a bone-headed asshole.  Not saying that's going to happen, but it could, so toughen up if you're not tough already.
1370  Other / Meta / Re: See this burst poster here. on: October 12, 2022, 07:31:25 AM
You must be taking piss off of everyone or have some hidden desire to experiment the reaction of the members. LOL
I'm pretty sure Poker Player just screwed up and linked to his own profile instead of the burst poster, despite what seems like a long shot explanation:

I don't think it's a mistake since what he mentioned is what it shows in the latest replies that he did. Maybe he is just concerned that what he did is okay.

But my response in any case would be this: OP, you've been around long enough to know that either reporting burst posters to mods and/or to the member's campaign manager would both be appropriate, although I'd say it depends on the quality of the posts themselves.  There was some member a couple of years ago who was throwing down very well-thought out posts in a rapid fire manner, and despite him obviously not being a shitposter he got called out on it publicly.  Wish I could remember his username.

Is the member in question here ramanlop0 by any chance?  He posted after Poker Player in PP's second to last post, and looking at his post history it does look like he's making posts very quickly--and they're very short ones.  Those I would report.
1371  Other / Meta / Re: Attaining legendary rank - is that the end? on: October 12, 2022, 02:35:20 AM
Cus you're an ancient advocate,covered on the face by some bibliophilic essence, furrowed on the chin with some grey, hairy stuff (atleast as a sign of profoundness) and a massive protruging tommy , filled with golden-tainted potential, tryna Ameliorate/ solicit just to save the asses of the black Bunny-rats;
Goddamn, you have a way with words--and pseudo-words, too.  But the above statement is kinda freaky; it's almost as though you knew me in real life (except perhaps for the facial hair).  Freaky deaky, darlin'.

So they just tryna fix a SQUARE PEG IN A ROUND HOLE.
Yeah, but unlike any other person who does manual labor, these idiots keep collecting a paycheck for forcing that peg into the hole it doesn't fit into.  In real life, they'd be fired for being incompetent peg pounders.  On the forum?  Their bosses are just happy to have something with a heartbeat behind the keyboard that types all the nonsense.  Until bounty managers (or project devs) figure out a way to create bots to do what these shitposters are currently doing, everything I described above is just going to keep happening.

I've been here over 7 years, and it was actually worse when I registered, if you can believe that.
1372  Economy / Economics / Re: Scientists say food insecurity drove international conflict 2000 years ago on: October 11, 2022, 11:08:36 PM
With food insecurity headlines becoming known constants in the media. Is it possible that food shortages of the future could pave the war to violence, war and bloodshed on an international scale?
I've heard that buzzphrase on the radio and on Youtube as well, I think, and I'm pretty sure that's all it is, a buzzphrase.  Doesn't the United States still have record numbers of obese citizens?  Sure, that could be from eating the wrong foods, but "food insecurity" does not equate to "actual food shortage".  Hell, I'd argue that people were insecure about their ability to buy certain foods at the start of the pandemic, due to panic buying and later because of those mysterious supply chain issues.

As to that second question there, I don't believe the world is headed toward starvation by a long shot.  I think this is a made up issue and simply by talking about it we're all feeding into the media or government's agenda--I have no idea what that agenda could be, but I don't doubt they have one.
1373  Other / Meta / Re: [TOP-200] Members who support newbies - Thanks! on: October 11, 2022, 06:01:16 PM
Don't be discouraged @Fillippone; you and @The Pharmacist both do a lot to assist low-ranking members like myself in rising in the ranks.
I only gave you 3 merits in total, and though your statement is kind of a general one I have to wonder--also in general--how many alt accounts I'm helping to rank up with my post history reviews.  I'm not against that per se, but it's something that's crossed my mind.  Quite a few of the members who've asked me for help have had very similar writing styles and the vast majority of them post mainly in the Gambling section.

I'm glad I raised my standards for merits recently, else I'd probably be helping the exact opposite types of members I'd intended to when I first made my standing offer.  Nothing against you, Zaguru12.  Maybe if you had 4 digits after "Zaguru" I might cock an eyebrow, but for now I'll keep my radar on low sensitivity settings.
1374  Other / Meta / Re: Attaining legendary rank - is that the end? on: October 11, 2022, 03:02:29 AM
Legendary ranks ain't the highest; to be honest, this whole rank stuff is -- to me -- just a mere formality if, and only if the OPs empty. It's sometimes assumed as flatteries.......
Legendary rank on this particular forum is way, waaay more than just a flattering title.  On other forums, with whatever ranking systems they have in place, that might be true, but I can pretty much guarantee you that there aren't as many (if any) threads created about attaining the highest rank--or even just ranking up in general.

The truth is that bitcointalk is fundamentally different than other discussion forums due to the existence of signature campaigns and bounties, i.e., using avatars, personal text, and signature space to get paid for advertising.  Since you generally get more advertising space the higher up you go in the ranks, if you're participating in a campaign or bounty or planning to, it's of great personal (and by that I mean financial) interest to get to the higher ranks.

It seems strange to me that it's seemingly become less important to members in the years that I've been here, because back in 2016-18 I think there were way more threads in Meta that dealt with ranking up.  And after the merit system was introduced, all hell rained down in the Meta section because it suddenly became so much harder for Newbies to even become Jr. Members--and the shitposters who were used to just having to post and wait in order to rank up now were scratching their collective retarded heads, wondering how in the holy hell they were going to make posts good enough to earn merits.

They still haven't figured that one out.  Probably never will.
1375  Other / Meta / Re: Wall of fame / shame. Shit posts so bad that they are actually funny on: October 10, 2022, 11:51:44 PM
I was talking about the Newbie because he spammed his plagiarism content right away in a topic against plagiarism.  Cheesy
A'ight.  I'm puttin' my six-shooter back in the holster for now, pardner.

Belinda1732 prolly saw that lovesmayfamilis had earned three merits from their post in that thread and decided to put in their best abilities into reworking/paraphrasing it to see if they could earn some merits for themselves
Huh, that's some good thinking right there--seriously, that makes logical sense.  On the other hand that's taking a huge risk that the original merit-giver (in this case lovesmayfamilis) wouldn't notice the paraphrased post which would probably stand out like a stiff dick if said merit-giver saw it.  Plagiarists on this forum aren't renowned for their blazing intellect, mind you, but one would have to be either very young, retarded, or a complete fucking moron not to see the folly in doing as Belinda1732 did.
1376  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Why not to buy inexpensive "exotic" open source hardware wallets? on: October 10, 2022, 11:37:32 PM
I would never buy closed source device like ledger, and some of their devices like model nono X are worst piece of crap ever, and ledger is focused only only of shitcoins.
I'm not sure what you mean by Ledger being focused only on shitcoins--I get what you're trying to say, but 1) they're only offering support for various altcoins and tokens because there's a big market for them and a lot of demand.  It's just a smart business move on their part.  And 2) if you consider altcoins as being coins with their own blockchains, Ledger only supports a small fraction of them.

I kind of wonder what it takes for an altcoin to get Ledger support, whether the devs have to pay for the "privilege" or what.  I assume that's probably the case.

OP, I tried the Bitbox and though it's open-source and all that, I find its user interface to be inferior to Ledger Live, and for some reason the app runs much slower on my PC than LL.  I'd definitely recommend it, though I like my Nano X much better--and that's despite everything dkbit98's mentioned, all of which I pay attention to BTW.  He was the one who recommended the Bitbox.

If you look on Amazon (as an example), there are so many HW wallets out that it's overwhelming if you don't know what to look for.  Most of them are crap, overpriced, and/or totally unsafe.  I'd stay away from the really exotic ones you might come across in the wild, like the Arculus and similar ones.
1377  Economy / Reputation / Re: jerry0 case on: October 10, 2022, 08:49:33 PM
This has been discussed on and off a few times. How someone with a few higher raking accounts could create a new user and ask a question that and start a conversation with 2 or 3 other users that are are all just them talking to themselves.
Oh man, that's nothing new at all--I remember busting a number of accounts a few years ago for doing just that.  They all had similar usernames and were all posting in the same threads, and the example I'm thinking of is probably just one of many alt rings this forum has had.

I understand wanting to ignore jerry0, but he's never struck me as someone who's trying to do anything malicious, and I think I said that earlier in this thread.  He just seems paranoid, and if that's indeed true then I know where he's coming from.  He just happens to be paranoid enough and persistent enough in asking questions that he became annoying in the HW wallet section--at least, that's how I see it.

Not like I could give him much advice anyway, but I'll follow dkbit98's advice and not feed into his nonstop queries.

It seems to be Spezi but contains much more Fanta than CocaCola...
If you ask me (which you didn't), it looks like a piss bomb bottle some long-haul trucker would send flying out the window to land on the side of the road.  I see them all the time when I'm wandering the streets late at night, mumbling to myself incoherently.

From the looks of it, I'd also say that trucker is pretty dehydrated.
1379  Economy / Reputation / Re: [self-moderated] Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source on: October 10, 2022, 06:25:05 PM
Maybe I'm a soft touch that's being duped by a selfie that isn't even him, but man; I know that look, and that's a dude that's just trying his best to keep his head above water. I don't really have a point, just sharing my thoughts.
I saw that post as well and remain unmoved.  Hope his "noddle" business thrives to the point where he can buy a wristwatch that isn't cracked, but as far as the forum is concerned he isn't the old-school member that one would think he is based on his profile--and for that reason, I'm tagging him just like I'd tag anyone else who's bought or hacked an account.

1380  Other / Meta / Re: Ban Appeal For naim027. on: October 10, 2022, 06:01:35 PM
I think it's better if we rewrite the ban evasion rule. It should include Scam accusation with appeal option in Meta.
I disagree with that.  If exceptions are made for banned members to post scam accusations in their ban appeal thread, not only is it off-topic (it's in Meta and the thread has nothing to do with outside issues), it leaves the door wide open for more exceptions to be made for banned members to keep posting on the forum when they shouldn't be.

Naim027, I've supported your ban appeal from the start and still do, but I don't think you should have posted that here.  I'd love to hear what the mods have to say, because this is the first time I've seen someone do this in a ban appeal thread.
