1401  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk.org collectible coin ideas & vote on: October 06, 2022, 06:49:17 AM
I don't think it should be a giveaway but a 'not for profit' project would be a possible idea
and having it as a limited edition would increase the demand so Welsh or whomever
wouldn't be left with surplus coins.
I would buy one, no questions asked (assuming I could afford it, and even then I'd most likely find a way to afford it); I'm not looking for a freebie.  I strongly think a 15 or 20-year anniversary coin or just a general bitcointalk commemorative coin ought to be made, because there are a lot of members to whom this forum means a great deal--and I'm one of those, and that's the reason I'd buy one.  It'd be for keeps, not for resale.

I am still thinking that one of these three manufacturers should be chosen: Casasciuns, Smoothie (Lealana) or Kialara. And, if possible, Casascius...
You all know I'm not a regular in the Collectibles section, and my knowledge of the creators of physical bitcoins and such is lacking, but I definitely recognize Casascius and Kialara as being top-notch.  Smoothie I recognize by name but not reputation--but in any case I agree that if a bitcointalk coin gets made it should be done right, and your suggestions are probably spot-on (with the sliver of uncertainty based on my aforementioned ignorance).

In the end, I think there are much more users willing to own such a coin, than the ones not willing to, therefore, for this reason, I believe that the idea of such a collectible coin should not be abandoned.

1402  Economy / Securities / Re: [IBCO - Whitelist] ⚽🎰 Casino Critique⭐ FREE Chip for BCT Members ❤️‍🔥 on: October 06, 2022, 05:19:38 AM
Don't know if that's true for you, but it's true more often than I'd like for me.
Of course, you don't deserve such a response, do you?
I'm not sure how to interpret either the tone or meaning of that.  I assume you're referring to your comment regarding my reading comprehension deficit, which I agreed with.  Where is this hostility coming from?

Realistically, I'm just tired of this topic, I'm tired of shit-posting sig-spammers (oh, the irony) stirring up drama just to meet their quota
Seriously, please don't tell me you're referring to me.  If you are, just say so.

And as I said a few times, we are still up to launch the project regardless of getting funds unless something goes very wrong.
You did say that, and yet my question about the fate of the chip holders wasn't answered.  Right now you have very limited outside funding (0.005BTC), but you said that if there's no escrow, there's going to be no outside funding.  My question was whether the already collected funds would be returned to the chip buyers or if the buyers would still be in the revenue-sharing pool--just to refresh your memory.

Thank you for the update; the project is still a go, and I'm still hoping it succeeds.

Edit:

Sorry, The Pharmacist if my tone didn't sound okay to you but I didn't mean something which you would find hard to interpret. Language barrier is a problem for a lot of people including me. Maybe that's where I and some other messed.
OK, no problem.  I figured part of this had to be misunderstandings due to language.

Then it is very much likely that we will be returning the fund in the same address from where it has been sent.
Noted; that was the question I was asking, and thank you for addressing it.
1403  Economy / Economics / Re: Currencies are Collapsing Everywhere. on: October 06, 2022, 03:47:35 AM
Is this a new alt of Polo7 and the rest of the usernames I can't recall at the moment?  The writing style and content look very much like it is--and I'm sure as soon as people tune out to Editbar, there's going to be another account popping up in the Economics section spouting the same stuff.  OP, your response?

Central banks can do anything they want, but nothing is going change the fact fiat currencies will colapse at some point, because their system has been unsustainable since the beginning.
That may well be true, but I don't think either one of us is going to have to worry about the entire fiat system (and I'm talking globally) collapsing in our lifetime.  I've been hearing predictions to that effect for years now, and I'm sure such predictions were being made well before I was born.

I don't know if things were better on the gold standard or not, but it doesn't seem like there's any way to go back to something like that, where money is backed by something more valuable than a country's word or the size of their military, if you know what I mean.  Then again, nothing is backing bitcoin and it's a form of money, an asset, and a store of value....so who knows?

If CBDCs become the norm and the government has unrestricted access to everyone's financial records, that's just one step closer to the world becoming a dystopian pit of misery straight out of George Orwell's imagination.
1404  Economy / Economics / Re: 16 Wall Street firms fined $1.1 billion for discussing deals on personal apps on: October 05, 2022, 10:43:40 AM
$1.1 billion is a relatively large fine for wall street firms to shoulder.
Eh, my grasp of violations and fines involving banks, brokerages, and other Wall Street institutions isn't great but I'd be willing to bet that if a company like JP Morgan got hit with a $1.1 bln fine, they'd take the hit on their balance sheet for the year, their stock price might drop a couple of points, but in the end they'd move on.

In this case, that $1.1 bln fine is spread out over 16 companies, most of which are huge Wall Street players.  Needless to say there's not much pain that's going to be felt by those companies.

I'm really glad the SEC has their eyes on those firms mentioned, because I always had the impression that they were all in bed together and a dipshit violation involving the use of social media platforms to discuss company business would never be noticed, much less prosecuted.  Then again, it could be that the US government is so hard up for money that the SEC got orders from on high to sniff out whatever wrongdoing they could and levy some juicy penalty revenue.  Sort of like a municipal government sending cops to ticket as many speeders as they can find.
1405  Economy / Securities / Re: [IBCO - Whitelist] ⚽🎰 Casino Critique⭐ FREE Chip for BCT Members ❤️‍🔥 on: October 05, 2022, 07:14:06 AM
I guess that means The Pharmacist and I are very limited in our reading or understanding.
Don't know if that's true for you, but it's true more often than I'd like for me.

And right now what I'm not understanding is whether this project is still a go, or if it's been scrapped.  I've been keeping an eye on the IBCO wallet, and it's obvious there hasn't been anybody buying chips since those first five, since the balance has been pegged at 0.005BTC.  Nor have there been any updates here.

I don't use telegram, so my bad if any updates have been posted there.

I am one of the escrow team members that decided to step down.  The decision is based on personal reasons which I do not care to discuss here.  Anyone is welcome to PM me at any time for any reason.  Depending on who you are, if you PM me to ask about my reasons for backing down from the CC escrow team I may oblige you, or I may tell you to mind your own business.
I didn't reply to your post previously since you were obviously in a defensive mode, but I was wondering exactly why you were being so defensive.  You stepped down as an escrow, and nobody made a big deal out of that as far as I know--and there's no reason to make it a big deal.  You're entitled to not participate in a project anymore for whatever reason, and though you're correct that those reasons are your business, I don't think anybody asked what they were.

So:  Any updates?
1406  Economy / Economics / Re: At last, Twitter wins the battle!! on: October 05, 2022, 06:58:34 AM
Compared to Facebook and TikTok, Twitter seems to be less favorable but has for long being the opinion ground for the likes of Elon and ex president Donald Trump.
Now, believe me I'm happy Twitter is being bought by someone so ostensibly pro-free speech as Elon Musk, but man....I would have busted one in my pants if he'd purchased Youtube instead.  As far as social media platforms go, Twitter is extremely popular and one that IMO needs to be overhauled.  But seeing as how I don't use it and do watch videos on YT quite a bit, it would have probably made creators on that site a lot less skittish about what they say and what topics they can and can't cover.

But still I'm pleased with this.  Maybe soon Twitter will become less of a left-wing stronghold, but we'll see.  Elon Musk is not only impulsive, he's unpredictable, so it's anyone's guess as to what changes are going to be made.
1407  Economy / Economics / Re: Elon Musk makes offer to buy Twitter on: October 04, 2022, 11:00:59 PM
This leftist 100 genders and cutting off little kid’s dicks has to stop. I feel like this is the first sign in a while that people are fed up with the insanity.
Bro, I still can't stand you but it sounds like we're both on the same side of the political spectrum--or at least we appear to detest the way this world is becoming.  "Nonbinary" as a thing has got to exist strictly in a small number of countries, because I can't imagine some dirt-poor people in Africa, Asia, or even South America suddenly realizing they're neither male nor female....but that's a separate topic for P&S.

So Musk did end up buying Twitter?  I thought I was keeping up with that situation and last I heard he'd backed out.  Did that change recently, or did I miss a whole bunch of details?

If that is the case, let the Twitter leftists strangle on their own tears.
1408  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Litecoin Cash ( LCC ) - censorship and false accusations. on: October 04, 2022, 09:45:05 PM
I would say that there is some misunderstanding here.
I figured there probably was, but I did initially grasp the part you explained--I think I got sidetracked in my brain thereafter.  T'was too early in the morning for me to be critically reading and posting on the forum.

Thanks for your effort to clarify things; I get what this is about now.
1409  Economy / Economics / Re: Take shelter, a storm is coming in October. on: October 04, 2022, 06:27:14 PM
The current economic situation is the most similar to the 2007 crisis since Bitcoin was created
I'm just curious, as I don't know how old you are: do you remember that crisis and how it all played out?  I remember it well, especially the absolutely devastating hit the stock market took, which can be plainly seen on a 20-year chart of the S&P 500:

People were losing their houses because they couldn't afford them anymore (though many shouldn't have bought them in the first place), unemployment skyrocketed, and every day in the news you'd read about banks in the US shutting down.  It was a triple threat crisis, with the housing and stock markets getting slaughtered, as well as the banking system.

Following that, the brilliant idea of "Quantitative Easing" was carried out, and the printing presses at the Federal Reserve went BRRR for years, in part leading us to the inflationary spike we're seeing today.  I'm not really sure if the economy of 2022 is nearly as bad as the 2007-09 crisis, but it certainly could get there quick.

The war in Ukraine continues, with veiled threats from Russia to use nuclear weapons and private response at the highest level from the US saying that if that happens they will respond.
That whole thing baffles me.  And I'm not sure how the US would respond, but if it was with nuclear weapons, that would be suicide.
1410  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bitlucy withdrawal problem, does this acceptable? on: October 04, 2022, 02:33:08 PM
I sincerely hope one day that Lambo will be yours and if there is a stunning mansion to along with it as well, I would be extremely happy for you. I mean it with sincerity.
Well that's awfully nice of you to say, and I'm sure you meant it, but if you knew me IRL you'd know that neither of those things is in my future.  I'm sort of fantasizing about those right-hand drive mini pickup trucks they manufacture in Asia, like the Honda Acty.  Dreaming about buying one is the best I can do right now, that's how little my wallet is, so to speak.  If you were to give me a Lambo right now, I'm sure I'd somehow manage to fuck it all up within a month.  That's me.

As far as the Casino Critique forum account goes, it would make sense to create one to represent the service regardless of who's behind it, no?
It would, but if DarkStar_ was managing Casino Critique's account everyone would know it's him who is behind it. Either the account would have a neutral tag indicating this or it would be clearly stated in the thread. Not taking advantage of the impeccable reputation would be stupid, like shooting yourself in the foot.
I must have missed your post, but you make a good point.  Not sure it matters a whole lot at the moment, as it doesn't seem like Casino Critique is going to get off the ground.
1411  Economy / Reputation / Re: Abuse of Edit function to reach quota on: October 04, 2022, 11:56:59 AM
When I say, unfortunately, I mean, there's no point in reporting it to the campaign manager, because he already knows it. it's just their way of doing business.
the maximum we can do is to mark them with a red tag but they already have it, so it's useless.
So the situation's fucked no matter what anyone in the community does.

Someone refresh my memory: Why did Theymos nuke the entire Yobit campaign the second time around?  Was it just because they had no maximum as far as how many members could join, or was it something else?  I distinctly remember the quality of the forum dropping precipitously right after Yobit launched that campaign, and I'm kind of wondering why 1xbit is being allowed to erode that quality due to their lousy campaign management and/or policies.
1412  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Litecoin Cash ( LCC ) - censorship and false accusations. on: October 04, 2022, 10:51:18 AM
What are the use case of it though? It's more like generic "fast transfer, small fee, etc." Then people call it hype until it become useless.
We're talking about LCC, right?  I'm having a hard time following what exactly it is that's going on because of all the links and links to other links OP posted, but LCC as an altcoin doesn't have anything unique about it except for that hive functionality that operates like a mining/PoS feature, I guess.  Its price is low, as are a lot of altcoins that have a supply of hundreds of millions to billions, but like the rest of them they'd be useful if merchants would take them as payment.

I've seen that "unnamed exchange" place pop up a lot whenever I'm browsing new cpu-mineable coins just for fun.  That scam accusation from examplens is well over a year old, and it looks as though the exchange is still in business.  Anyway, none of that has to do with OP's problem, which I'm still not comprehending 100%.  It sounds like he's been locked out of the LCC discord....?

OP, could you give a TL;DR to a feeble-brained member like myself (who's probably not drunk enough coffee as well)?  I'm curious, because LCC is one of the small number of altcoins I'm interested in.
1413  Other / Meta / Re: Hero Member Poll. on: October 04, 2022, 09:39:11 AM
It is then down to how quickly you get merited
Yeah, so the question OP posed is essentially a speculative one, although DdmrDdmr dropped those numbers to give a general sense of how long it would take a member who's an above-average poster (presumably) to get to Hero status.

For the average newbie who's only here to earn money through bounties, or the ones who just want to be part of the community without focusing on rank?  Yikes.  It's going to take a long time commitment on their part if they're even thinking of getting to that rank.  But you know what?  Hero Member is the penultimate rank here, and it's not supposed to be a piece of cake to become one--especially not since the merit system was implemented.  All of those people who start threads in Meta asking how they can earn merits or rank up should realize that fact.
1414  Economy / Reputation / Re: .. becoming a legendary-SHe (rhythmical) on: October 02, 2022, 10:02:17 PM
For that reason,I won't forget to thank THE CHYMIST
Thank you for using my preferred moniker; I see it as a sign of respect--and also that you pay attention to things, unlike so many members who just drop post after post without ever reading.  Good on you, sister.

* Theymos, the undisputable has overworked himself, day and night, swaying these assholes in a dungeon, sip some chocolates
Big daddy T can smoke the chocolate for all I care, but it'd be so nice if he did me the smallest of favors (you could even consider it my reward for being a merit source) and changed my username.  Or, failing that, at least increase my sMerit allocation.  I've got a waiting list for post history reviews that stretches around the block and no merits to give.  Hope you're reading this, my man.

And congrats to you on reaching Full Member, Sandra!  It's obvious you put a lot of effort into your posts, strange and amusing as they often are.  Your personality is distinct and comes across in your writing, and with the vast majority of members here that's not the case.  Pick any thread in the gambling section, or even Bitcoin Discussion and you'll see so many posts that indicate nothing about the person writing them.  They're all so bland and cookie-cutter, so it's refreshing when a character like you shows up.  Keep up the good work.
1415  Other / Meta / Re: Why forum search taking years to load on: October 02, 2022, 01:30:52 AM
Or you can use TryNinja's Ninjastic.space: https://ninjastic.space/search
I am sure you have heard of this search engine before.  Cheesy
I haven't used the search function on Ninjastic's site before--could it serve as a replacement for the one OP is (rightfully) complaining about?  I'll have to check it out.

And yeah, everything about the search functionality here has been ridiculously broken for years.  It's not just that it's slow; it lacks useful features like filters and often turns up only slightly relevant results.  And I'm pretty sure you can't do a forum-wide search for anything, but somebody correct me if I'm wrong about that.

I don't know how search engines are created, but am I correct in assuming that there was one coded into the software (SMF?) bitcointalk is using by the creator of that software?  If so, can that code be tweaked?  I would assume the answer would be yes, but I don't know how any of that works--but I'm curious.
1416  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN - THETA FITA - It is never too late on: October 01, 2022, 11:57:44 PM
Who tell you to invest ? did we ?
The simple fact that you created an ANN thread to promote your shitcoin shows that you're suggesting (at the very least) that people should invest in/mine/use your coin.  So yes, you did tell me and anyone else reading this thread to invest.

Theta shita ? can you read a name ?
I surely can; can you understand an insult when it is written?  More to the point: could you possibly have come up with a worse name for an altcoin than this?  There's already a Theta, and on miningpoolstats they even link to the wrong coin on coinpaprika.

41907880 Coin in circulation and only 5% in our hand, dumped ?
I never made that claim, so I'm not sure why you wrote that.

The innovation : Who said we are focus only on the blockchain ? our innovation at a service for the theta core, where it will support the core wallet. an example, a payment gateway.
In other words, your big innovation is the wallet, which allows people to pay for things using cryptocurrency?

1417  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [BBC] BabaCoin - Everything in the Name of Beautifying the World. on: October 01, 2022, 10:49:53 PM
Unfortunately, projects are very difficult to progress if they are not managed well at the beginning.
Yeah, and that would start with the decision as to how to allocate block rewards.  And oddly enough, all of these new ghostrider coins do something like this:

Quote
5%     Dev fee (3% Dev 1% Exchange 1 % To Foundations.)

This coin is for charity?  Why give 3% of every block to the devs?  What foundation are you talking about?  Are you telling us Babacoin has its own foundation?  That would be laughable if it weren't so fucking stupid.

For the time being, we will launch with initial listings on 4 Exchanges.
Just like all the other new cpu-mineable coins, and those exchanges will be risky, fly-by-night ones that specialize in listing shitcoins that no reputable exchange would.

And our aim is definitely not to make money, but to support charities around the world with what we earn.
Regardless of religion, language or race.
BS.  Your goal is to make money, so you're not helping your case by being a bald-faced liar.  If what you said were true, the block reward system wouldn't be what it is.  Furthermore, what charities accept Babacoin?  Why not allocate part of the block reward to any of them, if there are any that accept this shitcoin.

That statement about religion, language, and race sounds very much like the devs are deciding on what charities would be donated to--and that doesn't compute.  It doesn't make any sense at all.
1418  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN - THETA FITA - It is never too late on: October 01, 2022, 10:35:42 PM
Since when did bitcointalk thread become a must for innovation? if no user told me to write this, there probably wouldn't be this thread
Your shitcoin wouldn't ever have gotten any publicity after you dumped a bunch of coins onto the market if you hadn't created a thread here.

That second sentence makes no sense.  Who told you to create this thread?  Also, you know damn well why announcing the newest shitcoin via an ANN thread is of utmost importance, hence the thread we're having this nice little conversation in now.

Speaking of innovation, theta shita has none.  These are your main selling points from your website:

So please tell me how theta is any different from other coins using the ghostrider algo and why anyone should invest in it over other gr coins or any other altcoins for that matter.  Seriously, tell me.
1419  Other / Meta / Re: How to get a Rank promoted Can? on: October 01, 2022, 02:56:02 PM
But you know all this so this topic is once again meant to beg for Merit. I've checked all your posts and none of them is worth reading.
Dude, OP....you're asking for trouble by starting threads like this after posting stuff like what LoyceV linked to.  Clearly you're just fishing, hoping some sucker will take pity on someone who just can't figure this big, complicated merit system out.

You don't need a higher rank.  You're doing just fine right where you're at.
1420  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [JGC] Jagoancoin From Community for Community From Zero to Hero on: October 01, 2022, 11:04:28 AM
It is hard to expect any serious development on a project that has a website that looks like it was made by a six-year-old child.
Oh, and on top of all that, the core wallet is just a straight copy-paste of the new Raptoreum wallet.

This is just one of those new cpu-mineable coins that's profitable in the very beginning and then falls off a cliff within a month.  I don't see how Jagoan offers anything that adds to what RTM can already do.

The list of exchanges are not very familiar to me, so more than likely, they are listing it to smaller exchanges.
I've been looking at all the new CPU coins for a while now, and they all start off with the same mining pools and the same low-grade exchanges that I wouldn't trust not to pull some KYC shit right when you want to withdraw.

Edit: Ah, I see it was forked from Yerbas, another hot CPU-mineable coin at the moment (with a 5% dev fee rewarded each block, which is a joke since it's just another fork coin).

Someone please explain why "3% Dev 1% Exchange 1 % Community Reward" (source: Github) is built into the block reward.  The devs need 3% for what?  Doing copy-paste work?  Look here, from the website:

There's no mention whatsoever what the "community reward" is.  And how does rewarding the devs "maintain the security of the network"?

And lookie here:

Hands-fucking-down that has to be the worst slogan for any coin, project, or anything else a slogan can be applied to.  You can tell this was generated by non-English speakers who have no sense of what these words really mean.

By the way, I am an editor-for-hire and can make websites like this read so much better than the devs can manage, assuming they're not native English speakers.  But even then, I'm pretty sure I could write circles around them.

One last thing.....using a telegram bot for staking?
