701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8th Alt coin thread. Or what to do now that asics are all over the place. on: May 30, 2018, 01:21:57 AM
I'm getting ready to ditch long-term xevan mining and go full-ham on CN7.... with all nvidia I have left.   I think XMR still has yet to 'moon'.   If it keeps up with fighting asics;  its value should go up pretty high compared to history.

This CN7 FPGA that's up for sale....

I can't believe people are that gullible;  even if it is a legitimate thing..... gullible.    I mean;  83 euros just in shipping....   on top of all other issues I have pointed out in their thread.

Makes me curious....
curious about stupidity.
702  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Dwarf FPGA – the anti-ASIC on: May 30, 2018, 01:16:39 AM
Well, I’m willing to risk $500 to find out what this is all about, but I don’t know I wouldn’t encourage anyone to make this purchase. It is all the pieces of an elaborate scam, and all the attempts to send a review unit, get any independent confirmation, etc. are not happening.

I wouldn’t be surprised to hear in short order than their “factory” is suddenly not working with them because Bitmain and their bank has frozen assets.

Just look at how all these other hardware introductions went before you risk the $$$...

Look at how pandaminer stepped in just the same way this guy did;  but unlike this guy, pandaminer took steps to prove validity and honesty such as samples reviewed by trusted forum members.

I'm getting out a HUGE bag of popcorn for this..... especially after my ignored requests for validity from the OP some pages back... that are STILL unanswered to this day.

--but unlike this guy, pandaminer took steps to prove validity and honesty such as samples reviewed by trusted forum members.
How often does the ETH change the algorithm? Pandaminer is just a bunch of GPUs in a vanilla box. There is no problem to check it indefinitely.

--and why he ignores posts about sending a sample board to a trusted forum member
Because it's sold without this Wink

--1.5M € is no joke and this whole process should be taken more seriously.
This is the annual salary of ten FPGA developers. Without taxes, rent and equipment.

--I replied to the invoice email they sent me asking for clarification about 8 hours ago - no response yet, although to be fair.....timezones
A lot of orders and problems with paypal, thanks to the vigilance of customers. We do not issue new paypal invoices until we solve this problem.

Notice the bold highlights.....

Now let me re-quote his reply to my statement:
--but unlike this guy, pandaminer took steps to prove validity and honesty such as samples reviewed by trusted forum members.

Please explain to me how this answers or is EVEN RELATED to the statements I have made in this comment, and in past comments/questions.....

Red flags guys.

Yes... this product could be real;  but who on earth would expect to be able to do legitimate business with someone of this low level of comprehension???
703  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Dwarf FPGA – the anti-ASIC on: May 29, 2018, 04:32:21 AM
I ordered 4 requesting PayPal as payment.
I received an invoice/payment request to a Russian individual's name.
My payment options did NOT include PayPal credit 0% for 6 months on purchases over $500.
This to me was a red flag - seems to be a person-to-person request and not an online purchase - meaning no buyer protection.

I am not comfortable enough to move forward with payment.

THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.

DO NOT PAY FRIENDS/FAMILY.

Only accept a paypal purchase/billing invoice.

Seems extremely scammy now... hopefully you guys see it....  else im gonna laugh in your face for not being at least the slight bit intuitive on this "purchase".

705  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: EWBF's CUDA Zcash miner on: May 29, 2018, 03:01:02 AM
does anyone else think this thread should be locked and a final post stating to refer to previous complaints as well as dev abandonment be made?

I know it may work;  but use anything other than EWBF;  save yourself the headache.....  especially considering the early versions' trojans.

Absolutely. The thread should be closed.
Admins please do so.

The last 10 pages are complaints from noobs (who do not understand mining) about issues not related to the miner.
706  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: XMR-stak 2.4.2 Compiled with no devfee on: May 29, 2018, 02:32:10 AM
Success.

See first post;  Version 2.4.3 is now compiled and available.

Tested on my laptop with the CPU;  but no reason to believe there is any problems with cuda/openCL.

Enjoy guys.
707  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: XMR-stak 2.4.2 Compiled with no devfee on: May 29, 2018, 01:33:45 AM
Hi JK,

just wanted to say thank you again
have referred many to your thread here
hope you are feeling better

all the best

Thanks again.   Ill be trying to reinstall VS2017 right now as well as the cuda SDK.... we will see how it goes....

708  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 51% attacks, "secret asics", Exchanges losing money on: May 27, 2018, 10:19:34 PM
If you didn't have funds on an exchange in others' hands;  you could not have lost them....   food for thought.
Not saying asics aren't the problem;  in fact I am pointing out that the people are the problem.

We are getting into debates similar to politics, and other societal nonsense.....
This is human nature.

Figure out how to change human nature.
Boom.  Problem solved.

Sorry for this cynical answer, but its the cold hard truth.
709  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: XMR-stak 2.4.2 Compiled with no devfee on: May 27, 2018, 02:23:11 AM
Any updates to this?

not yet.   Hopefully soon Ill be able to reinstall VS2017 and the cuda toolkits.... give it another attempt.

There are a few programs im waiting to be able to compile....
710  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8th Alt coin thread. Or what to do now that asics are all over the place. on: May 23, 2018, 04:25:02 AM
when you have a stable setup make a disk image of the OS. that way if you blow the OS or drivers away just load the good image back on and good to go.

i use macrium reflect free. saved me a lot of grief many times. both miner rigs and my other computers. anytime i change something and it works i make a new image.

https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree

Additionally you could also try the built-in tools in Windows 7 and 10. On Windows 10 you can create a System Image on any external hard disk that can be used to image an other computer using the repair and recovery tools found in any Windows 10 installation DVD or usb-stick.

This method might work as a quick way to deploy Windows installations too. Remember that you may have to re-license and activate Windows, if it's not already licensed on the target computer. Otherwise you will get an activation notice.

Create system image:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10/how-to-create-a-system-image-in-windows-10/84fa6683-e3ac-4e93-9139-368af9267869

Restore system image:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-update/how-to-restore-a-windows-10-system-image-to-an/e20992ca-5641-4f7c-bb09-3895d0732162

ive known those built in windows tools exist but ive never actually tried them. im so used to reflect, its so reliable and ive been using it for so long, that i never bothered with anything else. being free for personal use helps of course Smiley

never thought to build a  baseline windows miner image. good idea, that would save some time with all the updates and tweaks that need to be done for deploying a typical new rig.

i wonder how well an image would tolerate a chipset change, like from B250 to Z370 or something.

it did not do well on win7 but on win10 it seems to work.

same comment.   on windows 7 ISO's ive successfully used the integrated package manager to modify and repack the necessary parts of the install disk...  I can install 7 on some pretty old machines, and even the newer X99/z270/etc boards that didn't have drivers in the ISO for basic system components.    Since Im always upgrading to 10 on the machines when able, installing 7 is a necessary precursor step for the "free upgrade" which seems indefinite.

I haven't unpacked and added drivers to the 10 image yet;  I would assume there's a similar package manager for rebuilding it after adding files/drivers/configs....  I remember following the microsoft official how-to on adding a driver to the install disc.

I remember installing XP on a Pentium 60mhz.....  They kinda limit that sort of activity in newer os's...

In for replies.  Can't comment yet; need to finish off at work first, but at least I have the thread saved Wink
712  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Dwarf FPGA – the anti-ASIC on: May 17, 2018, 01:33:56 AM
Google blocked their account.
Email problems.
Unknown chip.
Now at hotmail.
What could possibly go wrong ?

~LOL~

Right?

So many red flags its insane.

Need to discuss details in private via PM and email;  nothing told to everyone as a sign of transparency....

That detail right there would make me lock the thread if I was a mod, and PM him requiring him to be transparent about such details to prove hes not attempting to scam;  if he wished to try and reopen a thread.

Warning about this guy peeps.

just an after thought;  if you are worried about them monitoring your traffic to known mining sites;  just use a VPN service for any of its connections Wink

1 x 1070 , 1 x 1070ti , 1 x 1080ti
I've checked the payment of a non-yiimp-like pool and it provides me with what it should, it's just that the other pool doesn't offer many coins for mining, that's why I prefer Zpool.

Yep.  most people's profitability calcs are based on different coin amounts/values or half the calc for comparison to zpool is just based off one coin's profitability....  Most of them are unjust comparisons to zpool in the end; and that's without considering algo-hopping.   Luck can swing both ways, but it can swing further the more coins there are to mine on the algo.
715  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: can't add GPU's to B250? on: May 16, 2018, 02:40:14 AM
I think your problem is windows 10 and afterburner. As much i know windows 10 just can handle 8 GPU at  same type, if you want more GPU at same type you can try windows 7 or try linux and for OC software you can use OverdriveNtool. They can handle more than 8 GPU at same type.
Also I suggest getting used to using NVSMI commands for setting clocks/etc....  it is a very powerful took, and can easily be scripted for each miner to tailor the settings for each gpu per-rig.
716  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: May 15, 2018, 02:45:34 AM
i missed out on rvn.

sold off most the equipment so now my warehouse is pretty empty lol. down to my last 50 GPU's not sure if I'm going to gut it down even more.

guess time will tell. keep up the good work guys.

Apparently RVN was added to zpool; so it's on a major exchange if that's so....
717  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: █▓▒░-< [ZPOOL.CA][FlexFee™][SegWit] The miners multipool >-░▒▓█ on: May 15, 2018, 01:01:41 AM
What happened to the coins listed display?  And algo's listed? Just a blank page.
im seeing everything fine;  may be a cache issue....
Yes I don't understand why chrome won't show....it's just a blank page. It does show zpool page... but no algo's and coin display. Sad

EDIT: I tried Firefox and that displays ... but Chrome won't. I'm not sure how to get it to display on Chrome.
Yes it's a cache issue with Chrome.

I'm using chrome and seems no problem. Try opening it in incognito mode and see what happens...
Yes it works incognito... so I think an app. or add-on maybe blocking me in regular mode.  Thx crackfoo.  Smiley
What is funny though is that I can access other yiimp type pools..but not this one.
I've had this issue myself before.

Took removing the bowser and cleaning out any cache I could find manually....  Been fine since.

What was truly annoying is when it happened on my iPhone; I had to do a full restore to fix it.

Look like I need to add x16r to my batch....

Hello - is it possible that my ip got banned because i use awesomeminer and i switch quite often (4mins)?
I would ask on the support section in discord......

bottom of the main page.  scroll all the way down.
719  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Azure Free Credits for Mining Monero or Sumokoin:Super Easy and Super Profitable on: May 14, 2018, 03:15:44 AM
I can only mine for several days and got my subscription disabled, both on my free trial account and pay as you go
salt and recompile XMR-stak.   Change it enough, they won't have a detection vector.

I bet running xmr-stak throws up a huge red flag.
720  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: who bought bitmain Z9 will face a big issues now on: May 14, 2018, 12:45:44 AM
they would just write the software so one 10,000 sol asic simulates 14 miners at 700 sols and connects to 14 pools. kinda like a 14 threaded cpu.

or is this limited sols per ip or something.. unless you get dozens of internet addys/lines that would make farms useless and gpu sales would tank anyway as each person will only buy one gpu per algo. a few 8 or whatever gpu rigs to cover a couple dozen algos and youre done.

maybe im interpreting this wrong.

since mining was designed around being able to do things as fast as possible..... no way to really limit mining speed I can think of except for a time check/counter being mixed in with the mining code as to change the value of the result obtained from said hash based on the time to calculate;  plus or minus a percentage.  Before you hash, you salt the input with a timestamp.  Then, you salt it with a ratio of the outbound result with another timestamp.    Apply the "salt" as you would a TLS handshake....  and verify the validity of a result the same way as any other; via the stratum and network nodes verifying and sharing the same clock specs and +/- error.

If the network detects too high of a result coming from a certain node;  that node will get penalized on the network somehow.... TBD....

There are methods though... but flat out putting a "speedlimit" on people will only convince them to find ways to break up their hash and have it seemingly spread across multiple sources....  IF you make anti-pool code;  people will just set up a million smaller miners.... etc.  Gotta think past all that.
