Do you have any public github so we can follow what is going on?

This sounds interesting, BUT without seeing it, it's tough to know where you are in the project.
There have been a lot of forks, and some of them are good some are bad. But without the github after close to a month since the announcement it's kind of difficult to get behind it. As of now, I don't know if you having slow progress, no progress or are about to release it 12 seconds after I submit this post making me look like an idiot :-)

7182  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon controller restarted, how can I find root cause in the logs on: February 28, 2018, 06:58:19 PM
fanatic26 is correct in most of the time the reboots are power related.
BUT I would say it's only 95% of the time.
SD cards go bad a lot too. I have several pieces of equipment run by RPi, not just miners. 1st thing to check is the power. 2nd thing to do is burn a new SD card.
That is if it's a "name" brand SD card, the cheap no name ones are truly bad.

But one random reboot here and there is not a big deal.

7184  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer V9 4TH on: February 28, 2018, 12:49:47 PM
I actually broke down and ordered a 5 pack.
With the knowledge that these units are never going to make a profit I figure they are good to demo to people who want to learn about mining.
It will let them know that this is the noise level you have to deal with if you want it in your home. This is the cost to run it etc.

Also, they will run off a single 1300w power supply on 110V so I can tote it around.

Might not be the best deal, but at that price to show them around and possibly sell one or two for to people who know the score might not be the worst.
Lets face it with shipping, import duties my cost is probably going to be a bit above $450. To show it to someone and let them have it for $475 to $500 with them knowing that it's never going to turn a profit is fine by me if they want to play around with it.

I really miss the S3 :-)

-Dave

No offense buddy. I dont understand why anyone wants to play with these things though.
As the saying goes "There is a butt for every seat"

1) For the "pure profit motive" I can flip them on eBay
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=antminer%20v9&LH_Complete=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2045573.m1684

2) As I said instead of carrying around an S9 (know fragile units) with 2 power supplies to demo to people who are interested I can take what I assume is an S7 with 1 power supply. If they want it (and yes they know they will loose money @ $500) it's not as big as an outlay.
2a) If they make $200 and decide to get out they can probably sell it for $200 quickly and not loose a real amount.

3) Sidehack with his USB sticks and pods and jstefanop with his moonlanders are selling a ton of stuff (every one they make) to lot of people, all knowing unless a miracle happens they are going to loose money on their purchase.

4) I do dabble in alt coins (as do a lot of people) if you want to mine something and not take an S9 or similar off line to play, then this makes it cost less if your try for the next big thing does not pan out.

5) Some people like different things. Dig at someone who I know is watching this thread (Hi Barry). Would you believe that some people buy $75,000 Alfa Romeos? It's the worst rated car by every reviewer. One magazine actually listed an achievement of one of their review cars as "Being the 1st Alfa in our test fleet not to have the check engine lite come on during the test"

6) Actually going back to the point before, you can run these easily on 1 x 1300 watt off the shelf power supply on 110V circuit.

Bringing back my comment from the other day. How much memory is this supposed to use?

I keep all my wallets on separate VPS instances. This one just crashed due to the memory use of the javaw.exe process.
There is nothing else on here. Clean install of Win 7 64bit, Java and the semux wallet.
Broke 2GB of memory use on javaw and boom.
After a reboot it's @ 226MB (have seen it as high as 235MB 255MB over the last few minutes)
I am going to spin up another instance and move my coins. As of now I don't know if its the wallet, my java install or something else, but I want to see how everyone else is doing.

Thanks,
Dave

Got it, thanks.

If the creator wants to send you an image I can make one for you with a ras pi, but I get the feeling you want an original with packaging etc Smiley

thanks!

Aye an original...thankyou though!

I have the original in the original case.
I do not have the SD cards.
*Without the card it's really nothing but an RPi Model B1 in a clear case. There were no markings at all to let you know what it was other then a RPi*
It came with nothing no HDMI cable not even a 5v USB power nothing.

I ordered a 5 pack. No shipping info or anything like that yet. I was going to sell them locally for cash but, if you want one when they come in let me know and we might be able to make a deal.

Fully open here. The price to you will be:
Cost of unit ($365[yes I bought at the high point]) + cost of shipping to me ($62.50) + customs cost (?? as of now) + cost of shipping to you (?? as of now) +very small profit.
So probably when all is said and done about $500.

If you want escrow that cost will be on you too.
Let me know and I'll PM you when I get the ship info from Bitmain. (Probably about 2 weeks)

OK, I am missing something here.
It was working, sometime between when I posted yesterday morning and now it dropped back down to 18 / 19 Mkey a second.
System has not rebooted, it's running cool. (as cool as it can with that card) and it's not online so I know nothing updated.

Reboot and it's still under 20.
I have a GTX 1080 that is mining Zen at the moment and can still pull off over 60 Mkey at the same time.

Other then a complete wipe and re-install I am out of ideas.

Thanks,
Dave

Payments have been sent out! Thank you all for the continued support in this campaign Smiley

Just to verify before I put my name in to join, do posts in the marketplace section count?
If yes think of all the time you will save paying bounties. Just split it between you an MJ and ship me stuff :-)

Thanks,
Dave

Posts in the marketplace will def. count Cheesy, can't do that with splitting it between me and MJ for shipping costs though.. I might be able to accept BTDX if I ship you something but will have to send to you first Smiley.

Cool.
Have to get to desktop to register @ other forum. But once I do that I'll swap out the sig & avatar here.
Should be done by tomorrow evening / Tues AM.
Might want to mention to the people running the other forum that the site is useless on an android tablet.....

Any idea what a 7970 should be getting?

According to this link https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Vanitygen it should be around 28MKey
Mine is only getting 17.x  Angry running on Win 7 64 bit.
Before I start messing around with drivers and different versions I figure it's easier to ask.

Thanks,
Dave
7196  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Raffle] 4x ~5oz Poured bars 0/16 Tickets Remaining - ROLLING! on: February 23, 2018, 08:06:45 PM
And with that the draw has concluded! Below you'll find the results:

Block #510580 - NattyLiteCoin - Congratz!
Block #510581 - dolphriends - Congratz!
Block #510582 - DaveF - Congratz!
Block #510583 - DaveF - Congratz!

Nice catch there with the double "1" on the last two blocks Dave Smiley.

Will contact NattyLiteCoin first so that they can get their choice and then I'll PM dolphriends for their pick, DaveF will receive the two remaining bars after that Smiley.

Thank you all for playing!

Somewhere someplace there used to be an updated list of video cards and key speeds. Is there one around that is still somewhat accurate?
Thanks,
Dave

You mean like this one? https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Vanitygen

Yes, but with more modern cards. I know they had the AMD 4xx & 5xx on along with the nVidia 10xx stuff.

-Dave

I've got a Radeon Vega 56 I could probably benchmark if you so desired (drop me a PM if so).
Not critical at the moment. I can't afford one :-)

I was just looking to put together a few older gaming PCs with cards that are not worth mining with anymore and wanted to keep the best one(s) for vanitygen.
But it's a do I keep the RX470 or the RX460 or the GT 1050 etc...

I *know* there was a better list because I printed it and made notes last summer. I just cannot remember where.

Thanks,
Dave
