Hi TheQuin, I hope you're feeling good and everything is fine.  I have a question about the commission share feature ("Share amount based on referral activity since last payout" specifically). I tried to search for an answer in this thread but haven't found anything yet. Does this phrase mean that manually shared amount will be calculated based on activity since last Sunday's payout (scheduled payout event) or these calculations based on the ref's activity during the time frame from the previous share this week? I mean, If I'm going to share with my refs twice a week, for instance, then their reward won't be fair in the first case, right?  I.e., I have 10 refs, for example, and nine of them brought 100 sat each and 10th brought 1000 (from Monday to Wednesday). So, I decided to share with them in the middle of the week, and the 10th will get the bigger cut of share. Next, by the end of the week, nine of them brought 500 sat more each, but the 10th ref was inactive all that time still he will get the bigger cut again. Is that picture is correct?  Thanks It means since Sunday payout. I really don't see it being unfair. In your example, the ref you earned you 1000 has still done more than the others that earned 600 so he still deserves the most. If you think that's unfair then stick to doing it once a week. |

I am concerned that some people install malware, malicious application, fall for phishing links, use week passwords or use the same passwords on other sites but I'm powerless to stop them from doing that. You'll notice that none of the long time forum members who have been using Bitcoin for a number of years is getting hacked. I put that down to them understanding how to secure themselves.

And yeah, something fishy is happening, it's been around 4 days we're we are seeing slower blocks by quite a wide margin, probably indeed the China thing is real.
On the btc.com block explorer they show the hashrate reported by each pool and a 24 hr change. All the top pools reduced significantly when the latest 'China bans mining (again)" headlines came out. That's what caused this difficulty drop and also the last one 2 weeks ago. The total hashrate has fallen from ~190 EH/s to under `150 EH/s. |

The most likely explanation is that your account was hacked somehow. Did you use the same password on freebitco.in as you do on any other site? Have you ever logged onto freebitco.in from a public nonsecure wifi? What kind of 2FA do you use, SMS, google authenticator, or something else?
It's not an "inside job". Freebitco.in wouldn't ruin their reputation for 200k sats. If it was an inside job, they would go after someone with a much larger balance than that.
And I'm not accusing you of anything, but it's hard to take you seriously when today you say you've never touched the dice game, but you posted this last year:

Legal tender also means you'd be OBLIGED to use it for small transactions which would be a complete nightmare.
I'm not sure that will be the case depending on exactly how they legislate it. Generally, it means you'll be forced to accept it to settle debt. Assuming they also keep the legal tender status for the US Dollar then everyone can still choose to use that. There is a good amount of changes with the website for the past 1 or even 2 years, we have seen many new things added and all, but I haven't heard about any design changes at all, is that ever in your minds? I mean don't get me wrong I am not saying the UI sucks, but to be frank with the reality we are talking about probably the best website in the crypto world, one of the most watched ones, if you list all the crypto related websites in the entire world this website probably would be in the top 10, for something that is this big I would assume that there should be a better look than what it was started with, I mean this is definitely not horrible but not top 10 worthy design neither.
If you guys could hire a better designer and get a new one made I am sure it would be much better, and it would give you guys a lot more love from users as well.
It is in our minds. If you make radical changes like that you always end up getting as many complaints from people who liked it the way it was as you do compliments from people who like the new one. One idea we had recently was to make a new version that was optional to change to. We might do that eventually. |

Because we make a very large number of requests to reCaptcha Google have decided that they want to start charging us to use it. The hCaptcha you have above is a free to use alternative but I do get many complaints like yours from users that don't like it. We're still looking for something better. |

Based on this, I expect a fee as low as 1.5 sat/byte to confirm within a few blocks. You might even get away with 1.2 sat/byte.
When the mempool gets down to the 1-2 Sat range the vast majority are at the very lowest fee. I always check this on btc.com block explorer by looking at the latest block and seeing the fee used on the last transaction included. Yesterday when the first block including <2 was mined it went straight down to 1.5 and within 5 blocks I managed to get 1.2 confirmed. Soon after that all you need to do is use 1.0 / vByte +1 Sat. I got this confirmed a few hours ago 188 vBytes with 189 Sats paid.  |

[I'm not familiar how a transaction is being divided into memory/blocks, what determines the size, how fees choose that it can be mined within 1 block or over 30 etc.. => More cryptomoney = Relatively bigger memory size = more fees. It would likely explain itself If I were to dig into how blockchains operate, but made me curious about how fees work. As in if theres a higher fee for really small transfers like my 0.0001 btc. vs lower/optimal fees when transfering something of Size X.
8% fee for moving money is really much. That's why I've been asking myself how to lower the 5-10 Sat/b.
The value of the transaction doesn't matter because the fee is based on the size of the data in virtual bytes. That is determined by the number of inputs, outputs and address types used.
Last time a few tumblers dropped thousands of transactions and we didn't get an empty mempool then, but this time, with the adjustment happening exactly at the end of a weekend we might see it for the first time this year.
With it only being a short time since this happened there should be fewer services with deposit consolidations to do so the probability of an empty mempool is good. I noticed that in April this year there was a large increase in transactions with less than 1 Sat/vByte showing on https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#BTC,6m,weight,0  Did something change to allow that to happen? I'm curious to see if any pool mines them if/when we get there. |

It's hard to find referrals because our ref links get usually exposed to people looking for ways to make extra income from zero, what is really hard at Freebitco.in, and from my experience most referrals give up claiming on faucet because they would like 200$ jackpot prize happened more often. It's simply that you don't understand math very well. If your base reward is 4 sat, 100% increase would be 4 sat. 1000% increase is ten times that, so 40 sat. If you want to know more, tell us how you do the calculations and we will tell you where you are wrong. I get a lot of these in the support emails. Amazingly some people don't know what percentages are and think that 1000% means multiply by 1000. This is the calculation. 4+(4*1000/100)=44 |

It doesn't really matter if you are an old user or a new user. The reward you get in each free roll depends on the amount you have already wagered and number of tickets you have purchased. Therefore, the reward a new user get can be higher than an old user. The base reward can be increased up to 19 times if you play multiply game, bet on events or buy lottery tickets. The age of the account has no effect at all. Everything is based on the balance and a ratio of total free winnings to the total amount wagered. |

If you're talking about faucet, I think no. It's not allowed to use automated software and scripts to claim from faucet. It would be faucet abuse. Correct. It is also not permitted to refer yourself. So how could you do this as a normal human being? Refusing to sleep? Nah. This is the proof it is allowed to let your chinese exchange student click it every hour...
