722  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [MYR] Myriad - Multi Algo - SHA or Scrypt or Qubit or Skein or Groestl on: March 27, 2014, 05:20:26 PM
i mined all night at myr.cryptopool.eu, they are not paying out.  WTF?

They are on a fork for the last 16 hours, they are a joke.

I will definitely spread the word about them.

Guys, cronjobs stuck from time to time, so sometimes even pool ops are not at the console.

I wouldnt miner there until solved but dont cry scam or something after such short time, I bet it will clear up.

+1

Mike's right, don't throw names around, it's not like they had anything to gain from it, they actually had more to lose than anyone else which brings me to my other point mazeltov myriad we've just had our first fork and what happened ? exactly nothing because although cryptopools.eu held more than 50% of the scrypt hash power there were other 4 other algos working along with the rest of the 49% of scrypt which prevented the fork from doing any harm to myriad. no one else except the users that mined there has been affected by the fork and even in they're case it's not entirely the pool's blame because the fork was announced several hours ago in the thread and it was most likely noticeable within minutes of it happening(if I was mining scrypt I probably would have noticed instantly since I always monitor diffs on my block explorer). I'm not saying you guys desirve it I'm just pointing out what low impact a 51% attack has on myriad compared to other coins, even the big guns.

Well, thanks for answering questions I hadn't asked and putting words in my mouth......  Huh

Where did I say that anyone benefitted from this balls up? Where did I accuse the pool of being a scam? That's right, nowhere.

I accused the pool of being a joke, which it is, they didn't notice despite having 130+ miners operating on their pool..... do thay have any responsibility to keep an eye on a pool where you pay fees (and I was donating also)?

Should they not respond to urgent emails in a reasonable time? People have tried to get in touch all day with no luck.

I agree, a fork doesn't hurt this coin particularly much, but there are still disgruntled miners who will come here looking for an alternative pool only to find a load of dead links and pools on the OP - it just all tarnishes the coin's reputation.

Cron jobs are fine, I have loads of transactions on the pool that didn't arrive in my wallet.

It won't clear up, 130+ miners have been mining on a fork for 16 hours (three mining months!) - all wasted.

I think http://myr.cryptopool.eu/ is on a fork guys ... other diff... other block

Yes it is and it looks like it has been for 16 hours!!!!!

Aren't pool owners supposed to notice this shit?

I have dozens of transactions on the pool that haven't arrived in my wallet.

Anyway, moving to another pool and won't use cryptopool.eu again - dreadful.

Devs, remove cryptopool.eu from the OP, if they don't notice and don't respond for 16 hours you shouldn't be supporting them.

In fact, I've just looked and many of the pools on the OP are dead - it should be sorted, it doesn't look good.
726  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AIRcoin on: March 27, 2014, 03:24:38 PM

It's a shame to see that these guys just imploded before our very eyes. I doubt highly that they can get their act together (based on their idiocy up to this point -- including their last "update"), but as a coin holder, I sure hope they do.

I was lucky, I saw the dev's "atom bomb" within minutes of it being posted and had dumped within 30 seconds, I got out with a 0.5 BTC loss which I recouped within 24 hrs on black and dark.

A few saw what was coming within 48-72 hrs of launch (but didn't get out, unfortunately), even predicting with some accuracy the exhaustion of the BTC pool.

The devs clearly don't have the faintest clue about PR (despite their claims of having media experts on hand) which is why no effort was expended on marketing and why they didn't see the impact their update would have. A typical case of geeks needing to get out more.

This coin needs taking in hand, Alexander is not up to some aspects of a coin dev's job, and it now needs a public face since the coin cannot be trusted without one.

The media aspects of a coin launch are at least as important as the technicals and in this the devs failed horribly, they could have minimised the damage caused had they thought about their announcement for just five seconds, but instead they detonated it - madness.

I very much doubt I will buy any air again, I may mine a bit if it is profitable to do so.

The failure of this coin wasn't the fault of the miners, it was the fault of the devs. A worthwhile media presence would likely have prevented much dumping by miners enabling the BTC pool to be used as intended, which I was also under the impression was being financed by trading in other alts...................

Ok guys, can you help?

I'm trying to use the windows miner on the OP on the block quarry pool. W7 x64, core i7 920 o/c to 4ghz.

My first problem is I want to limit it to 6 threads because running it flat out murders my hashrate on my ATIs'. How do I do this? I've tried "-t 6" and "6" and, in desperation, "-genproclimit 6", but none of them work. How do I set-up my .bat file to achieve this?

My next problem is with the hashrate, it's showing 1h/s to 2/h/s on the pool, which seems ridiculously low for a 4 core processor running on the verge of meltdown, so again advice is appreciated.

My .bat looks like this:

coyote_miner.exe  NRS.BlockQuarry.com sussex.1

I have looked through the thread and can find discussion about my problems, but no solutions.  Sad

Edit:

Also, the difficulty appears to be very, very low, but I guess with these hashrates that solo'ing is out of the question?
729  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Crypto Rush - Crypto to Crypto exchange on: March 25, 2014, 11:46:28 PM
Ok, tried to withdraw BTC and got an invalid address error.

Converted BTC to VTC and tried to withdraw that, but got same error.

Been going on like this all day.

I'm surprised more people aren't screaming about it.........

SORT YOUR SHIT OUT CRYPTORUSH, FOR FUCKS SAKE !!!!!

EDIT:

OK, if this helps anyone, I've been getting an invalid address format error all day while trying to withdraw BTC and VTC from cryptorush.

I just managed to get VTC out by generating a new VTC address in my wallet and then using that to withdraw to - inexplicably, it worked!

Posted this as an edit to my last post, but don't want it to be missed:

The missing ingredient is a genuine media push. I know many are saying that any offers from the media should br refused - this is madness, you can't usually pick and choose when yoiu are going to get coverage, the media loses interest in things very quickly. If any approaches are made they must be accepted, strike while the iron is hot.

Equally, starting a media campaign now would not necessarily have instant results and a perpetually falling graph will negate much of the benefit of any media exposure. Readers are going to ask "if it's so good, why has the price done nothing but fall?"

This is now crucial, every delay with the falling price will make being taken seriously more difficult.

This issue hasn't really been tackled by the devs at all and they did make specific promises about it on day one, so I'm at a loss to explain why.

I have extensive, front line national newspaper experience - I worked for them for 20 years and have a genuine understanding of how the media works, so it would be nice to have a conversation about this.

I agree with this sentiment, have you PM'd the devs about this?

No, as I type this there are 146 pms in my inbox and I have no reason to think they will get dealt with any time soon Grin I lose enough time on the threads without being drawn into private arguments as well.
733  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AIRcoin - University of Chicago, Dark Gravity Wave, Altcoin Alliance on: March 23, 2014, 10:19:52 PM
The amount of rationalizing in this thread is hilariously pathetic. Comparing this coin to bitcoin is like comparing a faulty toyota camry to the first engine ever made.

These guys made claims of weekly 5 % rises and threw in economic buzz words so suddenly they are intelligent? The first post I made here was waiting for proof of identity not some fucking stupid picture of printed name on campus scenery. What are they scared of?

The fact that "University of Chicago" is one of the selling points of this coin is laughable in and of itself seeing as how these kids have refused to identify themselves.

People who put in substantial sums into this coin and lost 70% have EVERY FUCKING RIGHT to demand answers or leave and you cunts back patting the devs for their silence are just sticking your heads in the sand.

There is no trading algorithm neither is there any stabilization module. All that has happened is a coin was launched and is slowly biting the dust. Until the devs identify themselves and provide tangible proof of their claims, people will steer clear from this coin. So again, keep on with the dev fellatio.

Just on a personal level, I completely understand people wanting to remain anonymous. I would refuse any project regardless of reward if it meant I had to have a significant public presence. I'm just saying there are perfectly reasonable explanations for remaining anonymous, it doesn't mean you have to be a crook.

However, in this case, I think they are going to have to put a face to Aircoin sooner rather than later.

On another note, if there is no trading algorithm, no airbot, just what are they talking to the darkcoin devs about?

To settle any fears about potentially mining with X11 algo, when you say that his VRM failed I am assuming this would be only if the voltage was unlocked? My cards are all locked by default and if I don't touch this I should be in the clear, right?

nothing to do with unlocking voltage, just a broken piece of hardware on your GPU.

VRM = voltage regulation module

if it regulates it wrong, the card can die.

that's the most logical reason the card managed to burn up so fast.

also, holy crap this is a lot of baseless speculation o_o

Yup, the trolls smell blood again.

I'm still pretty confident of most of the dev's claims, I suspect that this hasn't been the cakewalk they were hoping for, but it is very, very early days for something so new.

If this is a scam, it has been a very comprehensive one - it would be an impressive one. Surely, if they were scammers, they would only be too happy to pump the price as has been suggested and keen to get it on more exchanges? Anything to get the price up to allow them to dump asap. Compared to 99% of alts (which are scams) this seems quite genuine

Equally, this collaboration with the darkcoin devs, wouldn't that be dangerous? Wouldn't other devs smell a rat quite quickly?

Anyway, I'm not saying this is completely legit, but I can't find anything else that seems more on the level.

" Of course, if I was Robert Downey Jr., I would be making 50 million dollars for 3 months work on the next Avengers movie. Alas, I will have to buy a ticket like everyone else if I wish to see it."

With the best will in the world, your first sentence is ambiguous - look it up.

They actually tried for weeks not to tell us  Cheesy but.............. you are a rebel. I bet you are at the G8 protests in your Guy Fawks mask protesting Dr. Bernanke or Dr. Yellen. Whatever. All I can tell you is that crypto is not the real world and if these guys are academics [PhD candidates to Professors] with actual real world big money backers[hedge funds, etc] then this thing will make Bitcoin look like a joke.  Cool

Well, you may have a point. Of course, if I was Robert Downey Jr., I would be making 50 million dollars for 3 months work on the next Avengers movie. Alas, I will have to buy a ticket like everyone else if I wish to see it.

Oh, and if I had "real world backers" I could do a lot of things.

I could fly to the moon even -- let's hope AIR does too.

And one more thing:

G8 protestors are liberal morons -- these are not people who approve of Milton Friedman.

You'll find that quite a few "liberal morons" advocate quite a few of Friedman's ideas and I doubt that Robert Downey Jr has to buy a cinema ticket.

Can I help you with anything else?
740  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AIRcoin - University of Chicago, Dark Gravity Wave, Altcoin Alliance on: March 23, 2014, 12:25:15 PM
We in our little crypto world have no idea of the kind of money thrown around in the 'regular' financial markets. I know. There are hedge fund managers out their that would not think twice of allocating 5% of their portfolio to something like AIR. Having a prominent school a Noble prize Phd professor and doctoral students is just part of the 'packaging'

AIR is not ready because it could go to 2btc:1AIR in days...then the same MSM would pronounce it as a ponzi

Google, Facebook, Apple, Microsoft and many others all started with somewhat idealistic, technically proficient and slightly naive protagonists. If true, Air has a similar make-up and, as such, has some potential.
