741  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: KYMA: Keep Your Miners Alive! (Windows) (works for any miner) (Source in GitHub) on: June 21, 2017, 11:41:17 PM
Yeah, but nor does this tool. Which is why I said a GPU usage tracking restart logic would be better. But ow do you easily check GPU usage for both AMD and nvidia cards?

Also, I have never had EWBF just do 0 sols. My problem is that I often get disconnected from the pool or not even connected when starting the miner and it just quits, there's no reconnect feature.

0 sols sounds like cards crashing because of too high overclock maybe.
I can improve it as well with GPU usage monitoring instead of process monitoring, that's why I posted this here in order to get feedback and make an useful tool for all Smiley

I have a 1060 with me, what do I need to try that Zec miner and monitor GPU usage to make it another feature? If you can guide me, I'll improve the app so you will be able to use it too Smiley

Also, I can make it monitor a logfile or something if the miner has one, this way I can look for key strings (disconnections as you say, maybe?) and act accordingly.

Thanks for your feedback!
[/quote]

If you make a tool that tracks GPU usage (and possibly even power usage in watts) via nvidia-smi (and not the current miner running) I'll be definitely interested!
742  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Xtrabytes a scam? on: June 21, 2017, 11:38:37 PM
It's an admitted scamcoin which got revived by "devs" with a questionable track record admitting they don't know if they'll be able to deliver, with even higher transaction fees than Bitcoin, with different levels and importance of (master)nodes, an untested signature system, without a whitepaper, with the worst naming scheme I have ever seen in crypto and it's even dishonest as it's advertised as it didn't have a premine while that would be impossible since it started as an ICO and it's not outlandish to think that most of the funds belong to a handful of people since this project was mostly - rightfully - ignored at the beginning.

I'm not saying it's a scam but it looks like, smells like and talks like a shitcoin and a terrible investment opportunity - regardless of all the dumbasses and sockpuppet accounts claiming otherwise.
743  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best of (upcoming) ICO's on: June 21, 2017, 11:29:59 PM
I agree with alot of what you say but you cannot argue with some facts.

I know users that made millions from the ICO's.

I know mostly long-term investors so that's probably why but the bottom line is that this is an invest, like I invest startups outside the Crypto, based on the idea and team -> same with ICO's.

A few lucky people is just anecdotal evidence; similarily every ponzi has some winners and a shitton of losers.

And sure there are some long term holders, they're in the very small minority. ICOs are generally a fast exchange of funds, rarely anyone holds long term. Long term being more than a few months.
744  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Get out of ethereum while you still can! on: June 21, 2017, 11:26:13 PM
Wish you could tell us why it's a scam rather of making a short post and dissappearing from the thread.  Bitcoin needs a strong competition otherwise progress will be slow

Why? If anything, altcoins are detrimental to Bitcoin itself. In theory each and every altcoin is created to better and eventually replace Bitcion.

Ethereum offers nothing really useful (over Bitcoin) that you and I can use on a daily basis.

Again you CAN pay for almost everything in bitcoin but you don't NEED it. To illustrate an example would you say an average person has an advantage in deposing fiat to an exchange to buy bitcoin then using said bitcoin to buy a computer game? IMO there is no reason any rational person would do that.

It's completely OK if most people doesn't have to rely on Bitcoin. Not everyone has to use bitcoin.

But it's still way easier to me than dealing with banks or even fiat. Being able to transfer funds across the globe behind prying eyes is invaluable to me.
745  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum: So much hype but it can't even process as many transactions as Bitcoin on: June 21, 2017, 11:19:56 PM
While waiting for Spoetnik to write his comment, all I want to say that Eth is a quick flash in the pan with several mistakes and issues while Bitcoin at least actually has real world usage.

I can't see Eth not falling hard eventually.
746  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best of (upcoming) ICO's on: June 21, 2017, 11:15:18 PM
Calling "ALL ICO'S ARE SCAM" is just making no sense. this is like calling you, me and every one else a scam.

Sure, many of them are fishy and 1 of them (Afiak) was a scam not so long ago.

But most of them proven them self.

But if some one want to invest, he need to pay attention to all of the important signs.

If you look at projects such as DRP, Stratis, Lisk and latly Status you can clearly see amazing staff/marketing and even products that are just amazing (Like Status android app).

You can see they have insane amount of community supporters.

And yeah, who ever invested in Stratis for the long run is now a millionare.

I guess that this is what OP is looking for.

Investing on * ICO making no sense. but ofc it's also about gambling as no one can tell how the products will workout.

How can something be not a scam when it's starting out with a centrilzed initial coin distribution? How is that an acceptable method of initial distribution when people can only get in with their wallets based on purely promises? On paper you would have to be a dumbass to invest into ICOs.

Each coin is created by the "dev" for absolutely free and he's trying to convience people they're worth something. It's like trying to sell handfuls of dirt to random people. That shit would never work on the streets but it seems like it works in crypto  which should be an intelligent community.

Mined coins at least have a floor price and not completely arbitrary (like the dev saying each coin is worth X satoshis) and everyone can get some in exchange for electricity unlike ICOs where a few whales pump and dump the coin.

And all the people who defend ICOs I've barely seen anyone holding coins long term, they're all just waiting for the first pump and they dump and pat themselves on their backs as if they were pro investors. It's retarded, really.
747  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Get out of ethereum while you still can! on: June 21, 2017, 10:57:38 PM
I see a lot of ethereum fudding going on. I think people just want to make a killing buying in on the dip so they make it sound like all it lost. If the current congestion means ethereum is worthless then so is bitcoin.

BTC and ETH are not even in the same neighborhood. If any coin is overvalued during this crazy crypto pump across all coins, the winner is surely ETH.

Realistically speaking it should not be valued for as much as it does.

Based on what? The fact that its risen so fast? Its a fact that a lot of ethereum is now effectively locked up in various ICOs and the demand for ETH to pay gas fees is rising at an enormous pace. The demand for bitcoin however I feel is more speculative since you don't actually need it for anything, except maybe to buy altcoins on exchanges.

You answered your own question. ETH is like the the new walletbuilders; allowing dumb people to easily create their own scams but with ICOs instead of premines.

"The demand for bitcoin however I feel is more speculative since you don't actually need it for anything, except maybe to buy altcoins on exchanges."

I was about to call you a lot of names but then I checked and your account is barely older than 3 months.

I pay in Bitcoin for almost everything I buy online, it's the gold standard except it's actually more valuable and more useful. Claiming otherwise makes you look like a fool and makes me think why anyone would even care to tell you this...
748  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone using the Thermaltake Core P3 Case on: June 21, 2017, 10:37:45 PM
It's probably not much of a help but I use a Core X9, which I recently acquired.

There's not much variety to choose from here and I'm not very satisfied with this one as it doesn't have a hinge door and it's generally low quality (though I don't have much experience with cases) but it does the job done.

I looked it up, it looks nice, are you using it for mining?

No, I may have misunderstood the question, but I don't think there are any regular cases designed for mining.

You might want to get 4U cases modified for mining (like these: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1921659). I've yet to see any regular case that was suitable for mining.

750  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best of (upcoming) ICO's on: June 21, 2017, 10:31:58 PM
Here's my knowledge in a nutshell; all ICOs are scams. No exceptions.

Slightly longer but still short version: we have a lot of new, mostly lazy people in crypto thanks to the rise of Bitcoin who look at this as a gold rush and want a quick and easy buck and consider mindlessly gambling with ICOs as smart investments. Your 11-day-old account is a testament to that. While I'm not against gambling as long as the participants are understanding what they're doing (I lived off of playing onlike poker for years) ICOs are nothing but a distilled and rotten form of gambling without rules. It's like a game of cards where the cards absolutely doesn't matter and you just give your money to the house which decides if you won or not. This phase in crypto is even more detrimental then the "every wallet has a keylogger or trojan" phase following the "every coin is heavily premined" era (which seem to have a comeback).

It depends of your skill to select good and less good ICOs. As for me, I invested in Waves, Lisk, EDG, TaaS, ZrCoin and all ended being profitable to me.

Calling throwing money at an anon dev in exchange for a few random images and promises and some worthless coins with arbitrary value the dev pulled out of thin air for free "a skill" is nothing but a stretch even with the best intentions.

Anecdotal evidence of winning is not an evidence of long term profitability. You can win on a slotmachine 10 times in a row and still end up losing at the end of the day.

This being your first comment - defending ICOs - show how fucked the crypto scene is.

Here's my knowledge in a nutshell; all ICOs are scams. No exceptions.
Not all ICO are scams dude that is based on my experience.
And remember Ethereum was pass through in online crowdsale also.
ICO is not scam, but in most cases is used as tool for enrichment of few developers and whales in their cooperation. I believe this already slowly changing, because everybody now see clearly, they can get more money if they deliver product and provide support for their product. Best example is ETH.
It turns out that some kind of developers funding is necessary and ICO is favored on market, because it is fastest way till results.
Maybe he had bad experiences about iCO and generalize the mall that they are scam.Same as you said both they are not all scam but some of them are on this field thats why we should really be careful on selecting one. Speaking of ICO i can say that the signature that i wore  is good. DCORP do really have a potential and as ive seen on their gradually developments i can say this is also a right choice.

Over the years I have never ever participated in any ICOs. Sure, I'm a miner but ICO coins ARE premined which simply and undoubtedly means their initial distribution is centralized - which is a terrible way to start coins and it's literally against everything crypto was designed to stand for.

But we have a bunch of newbies looking for the new gold rush and too lazy to actually care about cryptos so we have all these blatant scams that we call ICOs. And your signature is advertising one of these mindless adventures for a few slices of pizza worth of profits...
751  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Nvidia cards crashing: "GPU is lost" on: June 21, 2017, 10:15:43 PM
Bumping this since it happens all the same with lower power limits.
752  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: The New Nicehash Website - Yay or Nay? on: June 21, 2017, 10:13:43 PM
The new nicehash interface is the equivalent of modern games; aiming at the lowest common denominator.

The more plug and play moron miners they can hook in the more they earn because they're nowhere near competitive to the ever decreasing, thinking miners.

754  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What if ETH fall to zero? on: June 21, 2017, 10:03:10 PM
Too big to fall?

Underrated comment right here. At least it would be if we wouldn't have had "The DAO" and consequently ETC.
755  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Get out of ethereum while you still can! on: June 21, 2017, 10:00:13 PM
I don't see why you have to get out of Ethereum if the price is dumping, it actually is a great time to buy Ethereum if that's the case. I would take advantage of it's low value though and buy them at it's lowest price.
I am amazed you found time for posting among all this panic buying.

I mean I would expect some evolution on bullshit fake-bullish copy paste comments like yours over the years.
756  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I want to create my own ICO. Anyone here want to be my team? on: June 21, 2017, 09:57:57 PM
I will check this thread each day.

That's some maniac level dedication.

I know almost nothing about ICO offerings but I am in need of decentralized funding

Aren't we all.

I have no use for 1,000,000,000,000s of dollars.

You are so humble.

Why me?

God.

I have no further questions.

758  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is there a way to set a custom temperature limit on GPU Boost 3.0 cards? on: June 21, 2017, 06:52:10 PM
It's better IMO to set a custom fan curve as opposed to messing with trying to throttle the card.

If you're getting to 80C on an Aorus, you either have your fans set WAY too low, or you have very poor cooling to it.

Poor cooling for sure but it's summer and I don't have access to electricity to counteract all the heat that is generated.

It was so easy to just set a limit like 72°C and the card worked around that between like 1.4 Ghz and 2 Ghz.

The max temp on that GPU is 94c, you are not even close to overheating it.

I've read it's 84°C.

But yeah, call me conservative but I'm not going to run cards over 72°C 0-24h. The reported core temp is one thing but VRM and RAM temps are not reported and they can be much much higher. And I have a reputation of selling cards in great condition and none of what I sold over the years had died out of several dozen.

I'd rather replace the BIOS if I could disable GPU boost 3.0 or set a manual temp target otherwise.
759  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: "EVGA SuperNOVA G3 , 80+ GOLD, 1000W" or "EVGA SuperNOVA 80+ PLATINUM 850W" on: June 21, 2017, 06:13:16 PM
I highly recommend checking out every PSU you intend to buy on jonnyguru.com.

EVGA Supernova G3 1000W - http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story3&reid=494
EVGA Supernova P2 850W - http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story3&reid=444

TLDR; assuming a safe 0-24h limit of 80% capacity, the 1000W PSU has an efficiency of ~90.3% while the 850W platinum at 80% (680W) has ~90.8%.

So yeah, just go with Gold, it's plenty enough.
760  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What if ETH fall to zero? on: June 21, 2017, 05:36:44 PM
Not sure, but one can hope.

Ethereum tokens are basically what walletbuilders was a year or so ago - pumping out easy to make, low effort shitcoins.

But now with ICOs instead of premines.
