One thing I noticed is Difficulty goes up even as hashrate goes down.
Does it decide Difficulty based on past hash rate of last 1000 blocks, or the block 1000 ago decides current difficulty?  I'm ignorant I admit on this.

.........They either sell their coins at a higher price or they give up mining XCN.........
After they give up mining XCN diff goes down and miners will receive more coins, but price not groes up after that. Price will be higher if there be any serious investors. At the present time investors are interested coins with limited POW (7-30 days). But XCN have POW period for many many years Sad.

Well, I am seeing a group of investors/buyers who are good at bottom-fishing.  They are building up a strong buy at 0.0000140 (19K) and 0.0000139 (100K) when the nearest willing seller is at 0.0000145.  It is going to be a game of who will give up first.

Edit: Network diff has broken 320K at 323720.

I'm part of that strong buy wall, each time it goes down, I get a few more cheap coins, hold on to some or put at a crazy high sell price, sell the rest at a much higher price when it rebounds.  It's been a good coin to invest in so far  Cool
I'm no whale though, more of a porpoise, but others have 5+ BTC buys slightly under what I'm buying in at, pretty healthy.

Anyone have any ideal performance/cost CPU desktop/server builds for XMR?
Thinking about buy a new single/dual CPU setup for this + gaming rig and GPU mine also.
AMD has some cheap setups, but don't want to waste money, but I also want to buy something on newegg with BTC....though the 10% discount expired I think =(

Speaking of pools and mining, any new CPU miners out there?
Anyone planning on starting another pool?  I've got some servers that could host one if it's easy to setup, but I'm not pool expert(or Linux expert either)

Popular BCT member for the leader with informative website given coin age, unique coin features, unique PoW algo, top tier mine coders releasing public miners, very healthy trade volume on reliable trade sites, and a smooth launch.
This thread just got added to my default home page, and reinforced the buy wall spread from 1500 to 1000 with 50% of my BTC, feel free to dump some coins at a cheap price.
Wait, aren't I suppose to FUD so I can become a low price bag holder before praising the coin to pump it up?  =)

Is xcn.1gh.com on its own fork? Going by their front page blocks-found list they are getting every block.

Just that popular I think as no other pools online currently that I know of.
Not every block, but very close to it:

3.1 - 3.2MH/s on AWS (GPU only) seems to be what catia's miner is getting...

https://ottrbutt.com/tmp/xcnaws3.png

Your move.  Cheesy

I can't seem to find network hashrate graph and data fo XCN. How can one calculate how many XCNs is 3 MHs mining a day?

Your hashrate / Network hashrate * blocks per day (1440) * XCN per block (242 currently, I think)

Thanks. If we fill in the blanks:
Code:
getnetworkhashps
5753246115

(3100000 / 5753246115) * 1440 * 242 = 187.77 XCN / day
187.77 XCN * 0.0000152 = 0.00285410 BTC / day = 1.68 US$ / day

AWS G2 instance costs $0.650 per Hour = 15.6 US$ / day

Spot instances can be rented cheaper, but it looks like to me that renting Amazon GPU instance is absolutely unprofitable. Have I made any error, or people are renting them just for the fun of mining?

See my screenshot (that you quoted) for your error. That plus spot is around 0.1 USD/hr.

You mean 4.600.000 instead of 3.100.000? That increases the productivity by 48%, to 2.49 US$ / day. Even if you get spot instance for 0.1 US$/hr, you invested 2.40 US$ to return 2.49 US$ per instance, just to break even.

Now, when you get the nethash, don't get the current estimate, get the average over the last 1440 blocks. And keep in mind that Tokyo g2.2 pricing is now 0.055 USD/hr.

And this is why everyone loves Wolf0 =D
Also CPU miner in Tokyo is what I was using, around 25% rejects due to latency I guess.
We need a EU pool, or, a second pool for that matter any way.

I have some very old coins I mined months ago, and some coins from a few days ago, but haven't seen the Unlock Wallet button clickable.
I'm totally new to PoW+PoS wallets, is there something special I need to do to start earning interest?
I'm mining to it via a pool as well, so not sure which are from mining and which are from interest(like I said, total newb)
It shows I'm minting though in the bottom right corner icon.
749  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCN] Cryptonite | 1st mini-blockchain coin | M7 PoW | No Premine on: August 08, 2014, 01:33:53 AM
Also I'd like to gripe a little about miner donations. Let me count them for you all. 1,2,3,4, no wait, no donate, none
i've sent you 100 coins (24h worth of desktop mining)
hopefully the ones with big irons will follow the example Wink
301.02 XCN sent from my CPU mining adventures, hopefully someone releases a Windows GPU binary, as I am apparently not yet skilled enough for compiling.
Holding the rest as it seems price is actually going up! ever since the GPU was publicly released, can't explain that! Bought some more with BTC and then sold for 5% profit, so a nice spread for investors as well.
Though I tried this earlier and bought in at 7000...so...yeah...still paying for that lol.
750  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Wolf's XMR/BCN/MNT CPUMiner - 2x speed compared to LucasJones' - NEW 06/20/2014 on: August 07, 2014, 04:35:20 AM
It's fully utilizing the cores (minus one for some reason... maybe the scheduler thread is included in the thread limit?) so I can't see a huge gain other than running it on bare metal.

The opteron cores are not as efficient per ghz as the haswells.  The only advantage is that you have physical cores without any hyperthreading.  I'll try and compile the miner on 12.04 to run it on bare metal and see what/if any advantages are seen vs running it kvm with cpu passthrough.

The server is about $3300, so it's not exactly cost effective.  Just fun to see.

edit: just noticed the instructions to install it on 12.04, derp.

Is that the 16 core Intel system or the AMD 48 core?

Started over and grabbed the new updated CudaMiner from git.
Makes now with no issue, but now:

CudaMiner$ ./minerd -a m7 -o stratum+tcp://xcnpool.1gh.com:7333 -u Cmyaddressi -p x -t 1
[2014-08-06 18:36:43] 1 miner threads started, using 'm7' algorithm.
[2014-08-06 18:36:43] Starting Stratum on stratum+tcp://xcnpool.1gh.com:7333
GPUassert: invalid device symbol cuda_whirlpool512.cu 1428

Going to try removing whirlpool512 and compiling again, I assume -t 1 is correct as I only have a single GPU.

Thanks for the help all, I'll have to run some cards on someone's XCN address when this works for the help =)

usually apt-get install libgmp-dev

is it.

Got that installed already sadly, was hoping that was it.
uint256.h:16:19: fatal error: gmpxx.h: No such file or directoryIn file included                                   from cuda_mul.cu:48:0:
uint256.h:16:19: fatal error: gmpxx.h: No such file or directory

Install the development library for gmp. Exact instructions depend on your linux distribution.

I realize you're not CudaMiner support so don't need to reply, but used these instructions, on Ubuntu 14.04

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1043547

and got:
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/CudaMiner'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/CudaMiner'
make: *** [all] Error 2

I'm able to compile all other Linux CudaMiners, is why I brought up this being an obscure install, I guess it needs something I've never had to use before up until now.

You'll also want to install libcurl4-openssl-dev, and you may need to copy m4/sph_tiger.h into the build directory.

Got libcurl4-openssl-dev installed already, copied m7/sph_tiger.h (don't have a m4 in the git that I saw) same error.

And an additional 20% drop in price, I'm 100% out on this one until a better CPU miner comes along.

Followed by a 15% drop in price on c-cex and bter, making it unprofitable for me =(
Just ordered some new hardware too, such is life of a CPU miner =D
Either way, still a great coin with mini blockchains and no asics.

I sure hope so haha, just rented some more long term hardware for it a few hours ago and price dropped 15% Sad

Cuda gpu miner for Cryptonite released:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=713538.msg8204296#msg8204296
https://github.com/MiniblockchainProject/CudaMiner

Any pro-compilers here have time for a win binary?  Smiley Will donate some of the mined coins if anyone does it and release an exe!
can't say I am happy about this one...

Why not?

I think djm had a nice CPU miner in the works, which I was interested in as well =D
Total guess though, feel free to shame me.
759  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCN] Cryptonite | 1st mini-blockchain coin | M7 PoW | No Premine on: August 05, 2014, 10:02:06 PM
[...] Who believes that the hash rate has naturally grown to 6 billion from less than half that over the past 1-2 days while the price has dropped by more than half?

FWIW: There was a bug with 1GH (the only pool available so far), which was causing effective hashrate for every worker to be 35% to 50% of what it should have been. The pool was effectively wasting hash for all the miners connected by not updating work units correctly. When reorder posted about a fix on their thread, the nethash started a speedy climb to what it is now (with 1GH @90% of nethash within a couple of hours).
I was using a few AWS instances at the time, and could see my hashrate nearly tripled within a few minutes.

Cheers,
~ Myagui

Is there a calculator for XCN?
Or what would be the formula to find it manually?
