Yes: we're stable. In the meanwhile bid sum keeps creeping up, we're not very far from all time high (which was aprox. $23M).

IMO Bitcoin is very healthy. Money is not running out. I could use a 2011 bid sum graph, anybody knows where to get it? Blockchained data starts in January 2012.

Agreed. A little stability is great for the market overall.

Holy shit, man it's only been 9 days. What do you expect to happen in a week and a half (besides the continued slide downward)? Money doesn't just disappear from the market. The last bubble popped over a period of months ( with insane volatility along the way), and I expect this one will play out in a similar way.

If what I say bothers you that much, click ignore and move on (I promise it won't hurt my feelings).

I didn't realize that

Hold on to your pants guys...its gonna get crazy.

Meant, hold onto your pants for weeks and weeks (maybe months), the market might drop (or it might not) and it might burst all the way down (or it might not).

And as for your money disappearing bullshit, we went from $266 to $105 in less then a day. That must have been magically money that had the ability to disappear, but this new money disappears much more slowly. So you don't know where BTC is going, and you don't know what happened to BTC in the past. You're 0 for 2.

I have to say that I enjoy evolve's bearishness. It's well reasoned and he definitely has a cool sense of drama.

Man, look at the topic title: The Bear Market is on....Red candles still haunt my dreams

Every time I read it, it makes my day Wink

When you predict the end of the world, tell people to sell their investments, have a pretty chart with lines, that pretty much means you're trying to buy back in. Even if you weren't, turns out you were wrong and should probably stay quiet until God tells you where BTC is going again.

Hopefully no one listened because they probably lost money. Everytime a day trader sells his BTC, he runs to the forum and shits FUD until he can buy back in. We get it, you want the market to drop so you can get back into BTC. Act like a normal adult and save the drama. We don't need a new thread, we don't need chicken little charts, and stop telling people to buy or sell.

Ranting is for the wall tracker thread, it's easier if we keep all the histrionics there.
744  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Bear Market is on....Red candles still haunt my dreams on: May 09, 2013, 03:48:13 PM
However, I do think we will have to break through 50 before the bubble is "popped", and breakout above 150 would definitely signal a trend reversal.

9 days ago you said it was about to get "crazy" and "this bubble is going to pop all the way". And 9 days later, it hasn't gone down.

When you're that dramatic, have charts, and you end up being wrong, you should probably take a break from forecasting BTC. At least stop making threads and bumping your old (wrong) predictions. Maybe stick to posting in the other 300 TA threads until you're back on your feet and you're confident enough to be starting threads with the "next big crazy move" that likely won't happen.
745  Economy / Speculation / Re: The China Hype Fades Away on: May 09, 2013, 03:42:45 PM
Are you kidding?

It's been 6 days, everyone who downloaded the wallet, they probably still have another good 8 months until the blockchain finishes downloading. Hang in there, the China wave is coming, and it will be huge!

746  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 09, 2013, 03:30:05 PM
I think traders became resilient to DDoS. Not many newbies coming in (hey, the bubble popped), and usual traders know that if Gox goes down, their funds will be there as soon as it comes up again. No panic.

In fact, the last few days of huge lag where during mini-rallies, not during dumps... Didn't they?

I agree. A lot less panic. The longer we're above $100, people generally accept that $100-$130 is a reasonable range/value for BTC. If Mtgox goes down, that doesn't mean it's about to hit $50. Before people were very skeptical of the value during the run up to $266. The longer we stay here the more "normal" and accepted it gets. A "crash" has turned into value buying for day traders and bots. Every DDoS has less impact, people wait it out and continue on their way. Less panic, more stability. Hopefully we keep some volatility. ;P

It's not just bots.

The site has been up and down. So plenty of "real" people were unable to get on. Lots of BTC businesses use the api to make trades, like Bitinstant. I also believe there are trading platforms that use the api to do trades on MtGox. I don't think the drop is just trading bots.

what is remarkable is that there are no accompanying large sells on other markets and no panic. This is not the usual ddos play, is it?

This might be a "lost money and I'm pissed" ddos. Haven't seen much trade lag, looks like more of an attack on MtGox and not so much on the exchange itself.

749  Economy / Speculation / Re: Automated posting on: May 09, 2013, 01:51:00 PM

Haha, yeah, it's pretty bad. I'll add some logic in to not post up if there's no data. You'll probably still see the 9am central chart though. Actually, I'll just turn it off. Gox probably isn't coming back in a hurry.

It's all good. Jaroslaw is just pissed we're not at single digits yet. And give the level of movement, the chart is still fairly accurate.  Grin
750  Economy / Speculation / Re: Day trading on: May 09, 2013, 01:16:35 PM
I have a sure-fire way to make money day-trading. I go onto a public Internet forum and ask other people for their strategies, because if it works really well I'm sure they'll give the knowledge away for free! The other thing I like to do is when I'm about to put millions of dollars into a stock or Bitcoins, I tell everyone that in a few hours I'm going to spend millions of dollars to drive up stock XYZ (or BTC), and then I wait for everyone else to buy first so that I can buy at a higher price. Then, just before I sell, I do the same thing so that I can make sure to redistribute the wealth.

In other words, I'm pretty sure that 99% of the people on the speculation forum are like me: no clue whatsoever as to what we're doing. We guess, we lose money, sometimes we get lucky and make money and then pat ourselves on the back. And most of us are long Bitcoin, so the only time people are saying the price is going to crash is when they've sold (shorted) and want to buy in lower.

Welcome to the Internet! All the bad free advice you could want -- unless someone is making money off of advertising, in which case they have a reason to try to be useful. Or if they're egotistical and want to show others how smart they are. Good luck spotting the difference!  Grin

You really can't be this retarded. Are you new to the internet? The internet is giving away knowledge for free. Lots and lots of very smart, talented, successful people are part of online communities and part of what they do is giving advice. DIY forums are full of really good tradesmen (plumber, electrician, carpenter) who are constantly interacting with novices offering great advice. Coding forums have plenty of really really really talented coders who jump into all kinds of discussions. Years and years ago I was on a popular poker forum, discussing different strategies of a particular hand, and Daniel Negreanu joined in and gave his opinion on how he'd play it. Engineering/Robotics forums are some of the most helpful/amazing communities you'll find. And of course day trading/stocks there's a lot of great resources and helpful people out there.

Just because you have no idea what you are doing, doesn't mean there aren't a lot of bright people here. There's millions changing hands every hour on the exchanges, it's not all Bitcoin miners making it up as they go along. If you wanted to get into day trading BTC, you'd be an idiot not to come read this sub-forum. Doesn't mean it's all great information. Doesn't mean there isn't a lot of bullshit. But to completely write it all off, is moronic. People like to talk about their passion, and talk about things they are good at. People generally like helping others. There's been some decent advice in this thread, he's a little better off then he was before, which was probably his goal.

The fact the premise of his thread bothered you, is something I'd look into. There are some amazing self help forums on the internet. You can get help dealing with passive-aggressive behavior, anger management. delusional jealousy and autism. The first step is admitting you have a problem. Good luck!

Bitcoin stability (excluding MtGox), hope this doesn't become a thing.

752  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 09, 2013, 03:49:55 AM
Something is still going on because http://bitcoin.clarkmoody.com/ hasn't updated my buy order which was moved slightly above the 200 BTC buy order.

Yeah all their numbers are off from what I'm seeing. btccharts.com, mtgox live and bitcoinity are all the same, clarkmoody's order book is way off.

Not much support holding the price back. 600 coins and we are into 107

What exchange are you on?

I'm watching the bids and asks on http://bitcoin.clarkmoody.com/

I'm seeing much different numbers for Gox. 109.56, down to 107 is 2k BTC

There is only 600 BTC worth of buy orders taking us down to $108.16

It's 1300 BTC for $108.16 and you said 107.

Does us trying to refresh the Mt.Gox web page repeatedly to get back in also count as a DDOS attack?

Not really. DDOS attack is usually 100,000s of requests a second. We're probably like 2,000. =)
