741  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can ATMs move bitcoin into the mainstream? on: September 14, 2015, 02:01:21 PM
Localbitcoins works better, ATMs are too legacy, do not fit in a mobile and digital era

If the rates were the same and there was a local one I'd rather be buying from an ATM. Every time you're dealing with a new seller it's a fresh risk that you're taking.

I love this idea (assuming it's workable): the ATM sets its own rates based on supply and demand, and arbitrage keeps it close to standard market rates. Like gentlemand I'd be happier with one reliable source of BTC (and, if I'm honest, I'd be happy to pay an ATM fee for that convenience. But I'm used to (a) localbitcoins as my sole supplier, and (b) UK ATMs which quite often charge a fee (not often enough to be unavoidable, but they place the fee-charging ones in places where I'm weakest - like the pub).

OK, closed tab and logged in again. There's some improvement - the dialog isn't appearing, but clicking on anything is having no effect (e.g. I start with binary options selected, and the nearest expiry. Clicking on, say, Vanilla Options, has no effect. Likewise, clicking on another expiry time has no effect. I've clicked on "History", and the history tab is highlighted, but the screen remains on the binary options page).

Actually, disregard that first part - I've just had several dialogs again Sad

(I don't know if this is useful, but I'm running Chrome (Version 45.0.2454.85 (64-bit)) on OS X (10.10.5)).

There is a chat box on the web page now. You can chat with me there.

Thanks, wangxinxi - I'm there now.

I'm still getting problems - I saw the same issue yesterday, briefly, but today it seems to be constant. Anyway, issue is: anything I click on starts spawning dialog boxes: "Wt internal error: TypeError: Cannot set property 'className' of null, code: undefined, description: undefined".

Can you try to close your old tab and open a new one?

Hi guys, problems have been fixed.

745  Economy / Speculation / Re: Prepare for hard crash on: September 13, 2015, 04:42:56 PM
if it happens i wont be too upset, instead ill just buy more bitcoin. actually kinda hoping it happens now.  Grin

Exactly, tired of seeing users spamming bearish posts everywhere.

It's the spamming that annoys me. There are some really insightful bears on Bitcointalk - I find them interesting even when I'm disagreeing with them. Same applies for some bulls. It's the OMG-Sky-is-falling-sell-now posts (or the bullish equivalents) with no reasoning, no evidence, no discussion that I find pointless. Too much noise, not enough signal.

A previous poster believes so:

...

I've not had any problems, but I've not tried registering (already registered) and I've not been very active on the site today (one trade only). I flick between binary and vanilla options periodically, and that - at least - seems to work. It's not a very extensive test, though!

I am not able to login in the coinut website.
The site is loading slowly and when i type the username and the password it shows just "LOGIN..."
And it stays just like that, have been tried today almost 10 times but no chance to login.

I've just noticed that the 2015-09-13 16:00 UTC expiry has passed, and yet it still seems to be open. (The reason I  checked it was to see if there was any current activity - I figured if there was it had to have occurred between 12:00 and 16:00 UTC - not to see if expired options could still be traded!) I guess there's something awry - if I were you I'd be glad you hadn't logged in! (And I'm pleased I've not done much trading today - bit worrying, to be honest).
747  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Coinut.com - The only Bitcoin Options Exchange [beta] on: September 13, 2015, 04:30:45 PM
Is there some problem with the site? I tried to register but I couldn't. The "Register" button only changes into "Registering..." and it's like that for more than 10 minutes.

A previous poster believes so:

site is most definitely broken atm

Economists have know for 500 years that a currency must have some inflation, otherwise people will hoard it and it will not be available for use as a currency.

What economists advocated this position in 1515?

I've never come across these scholars in my actual academic work, or even the notion of economics as a discipline per se existing at that time...

Guess they don't teach everything @ DeVry School of Janitorial Science Undecided
You may continue your smartification learnings here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_economic_thought

Presumably you're referring to Jean Bodin (he's the only person in the relevant period where Wikipedia mention inflation)? I don't recall Bodin arguing that currency must have some inflation, only that inflation - where it existed - had a cause (he pointed to bullion importation from the New World as the cause in his time). My memory is hazy, though, and I do remember not really covering the pre-Classical economists much, because economics as a discipline didn't really get going until Adam Smith et al.

What issues are you seeing? I logged in OK several hours ago, and the site seems to be working fine for me. (Mind you, I've only done one trade - the widening gap between Bitstamp and Bitfinex is obviously taxing the market makers).

Lmao $5 drop and queue the socks like clockwork.  Roll Eyes Bored much?

I'm developing a theory that for every occurrence of the phrase "ponzi bags" in the unread posts on the speculation board - BTC/USD has fallen by $1.

I'll report back here when I've discovered the equivalent for a $1 rise.

Obviously these are lagging indicators but I feel they have great potential.

First it didn't worked but i used brainwallet offline and Bicoin-QT to verify Message verified to be from 15g8vaneG5pkvHgGTz4UkPynWvFuJyCKza

It works on coinig. (I find the brainwallet format a little weird, it seems to generate padding issues. I never used brainwallet though, so it could just be me!)

I haven't heard of hacked accounts in a long time.

While we're on the subject of things unheard...

The only payroll i'm on is my jobs.
Please provide proof of SCC's payroll. LOL.
It's not hard to follow the blockchain to see WD addresses.
Try harder.

The thing is, it is. You told us you'd received two 4 BTC withdrawals. You'll recall I've mentioned that I searched back through the transactions at the address you gave us, and failed to find any 4 BTC withdraws. I've mentioned this several times now, but I guess you keep missing my posts.
754  Economy / Speculation / Re: Another Goxing?! Amagi Metals? on: September 11, 2015, 02:15:40 PM

I don't see why I should care - this is quite different from the MtGox situation.

It is. The OP has prompted some admittedly interesting discussions with some eye-catching titles. The other topic they started predicted a freefall (to USD 225).
755  Economy / Speculation / Re: How will the stress test effect the price? on: September 11, 2015, 12:11:18 PM

theres always those who are seemingly always ready to dump at the first sign of a problem or bad news though.  I think at some point during the "stress test" (its going on all month I think?) there will be a hiccup and there will be some dumping.  THAT may be a good time to pick up some "cheap coins"

The scheduled stress test was supposed to. The new "not-at-all-a-stress-test-it's-a-benevolent-give-away", however... well, I guess that'll go on until all dust has been swept or we've all lost interest!

so... badbear is watching this thread for silly humans that smoke weed and cats?

Do you really think he will care until people start to talk about smoke bears?

Why does badbear care more about smoking bears than smoking cats and weed?

Quoted! For future reference, you'd be better off signing a post here with this address (how to do this depends on the client/wallet you use) and posting here - if you ever lose control of your account here you'll need to sign something with this address to prove you control it).

http://blog.blockchain.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Industry-Block-Size-letter-All-Signed.pdf i came across this.pls i am a newbie.is this true? if yes, then 1] does that mean the bitcoin price will be bearish or bullish? 2]after the so called conference in canada will the price of bitcoin be bearish or bullish? thank you!

Fairly certain it's true - it's the first time I've seen the actual letter, but I know that the signatories support BIP101.

1. I believe it's already been "priced in", and that it is, in part, the reason for the price stagnation over the past several weeks.

2. That depends on the outcome of the meeting! e.g. if the meeting finishes with no consensus, I'd view it as bearish. If the meeting ends with everyone hugging - well, that'd be bullish!

My opinion only, others may (will!) disagree, don't bet your house on anything I say!
760  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will bitcoin reach 500 USD again ? on: September 10, 2015, 09:28:11 AM
wait for us marshals auction to finally finish and also maybe the btc reward halving. Supply will start to dry up.

So far there hasnt been enough recent buying to maintain price rises, but soon there wont be enough supply to keep up with demand.

The reversal is coming...

the only thing i think will affect the price is the block halving in 2016. not sure about the auctions, i thought all coins were auctioned already? if not, how many coins are left to get auctioned?

There's a final batch of ~44,000 BTC which the US Marshalls are planning to auction later this month.
