721  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Scrypt.CC | Scrypt Cloud Mining on: September 16, 2015, 12:20:13 PM
At this point all the MHs at scrypt.cc is worth less than 200 BTC.   That is 200 BTC spread over many dozens of accounts.   There isn't anything there!

All this jumping up and down and screaming over 200 BTC!   It is actually pretty funny.   Grin

My LTCgear accounts have more involved than that!   I'm not even a large player at LTCgear!     All of this fighting over crumbs on the plate.

The stream of deposits into scrypt.cc is tiny,  a lot of worrying make sure people depositing 0.00096 BTC or 0.00719 BTC know that they aren't likely to ever get the BTC back!

Maybe the fires will be stoked up again, but right now the embers are barely glowing.   No one there probably thinks of it as an investment anymore, it is just a game at this point.   It no longer matters if it is a scam or not.   That time is past.

dyask, can I ask what the point of this post was? Leaving aside whether 200 BTC is or isn't a considerable sum of money, there are threads on bitcointalk where people are worried because they've not received 0.001 BTC for their involvement in signature campaigns - what may be chump-change to you may well not be to other people. It does matter whether it's a scam - people have lost money, and it's entirely reasonable to take action to prevent further people losing money (even if you think the money they're losing is insignificant). Your post reminds me of ThorSWO's recent posts, and not in a positive way.
722  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stress Testing? on: September 16, 2015, 09:48:03 AM

The stress test was "cancelled", and replaced by a "giveaway" (which had the same effect...)

The bitcoin address you posted is showing up on Namecoin's block-explorer - it appears to be associated with bitcoin.co.th. I'm not sure what that tells us, but I suspect someone more knowledgable than me, or a better detective, could provide more information!
Cool thanks but now im more interested in this site you provided a link to: namecha.in
Can you explain how this site works, i put a couple of my addreses in but they all came up saing 'This address hasn't been used on the network yet' these are addreses that have been used on the btc network before.

When i follow your link i can see where that address was registered and when, even a name of someone.
I going to look at this site a bit closer but any info you can provide would help, thanks.

Namecha.in is a block explorer for namecoin (analogous to blockchain.info for Bitcoin) - namecoin was one of the first (the first?) altcoins, and allows domain registration using the Blockchain - so your bitcoin addresses won't show up because you've not used them to register an internet domain. That's about the limit of my knowledge, I'm afraid - I've not used Namecoin, and the only real research I've done on it was back when it first started (it grew out of bitdns, but I remember it from when it became namecoin). I do know that Slush's mining pool mines namecoins, though - I read a forum post yesterday about it!

Can anybody shed any light on why this address has been sending what i think could be spam transactions for days now?

724  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 16, 2015, 08:41:09 AM

In fact its already bloated so they would just have to waste money on hardware to store the old junk, a zero start seems much more likely.

I suppose the only alternative benefit for them might be that they don't have to do anything much if they use an established chain and infrastructure. But banks probably don't feel that comfortable with all their eggs in someone else's network.

In a past life I worked for one of the banks mentioned in the article. I worked in a secondary office, where everyone was technical, and we had very little contact with the bankers, traders or anyone else involved in the core business, so to keep us lowly techs informed they held periodic meetings. At one of these meetings they told us that they'd mislaid 16000 "Wintel boxes" (PCs). They weren't too concerned, the PCs were bound to turn up sooner or later. So I'm not sure whether wasting money on hardware is that big a concern for them!

That said, I do agree that it makes more sense for them to start a new blockchain - for exactly the reason you suggest. I'm mostly bullish on this - I kinda expected it, and I think it's a necessary step before big finance embrace the original Blockchain. At some point a different bank, or group of banks, is going to have a choice - join a blockchain dominated by some of the biggest players in the industry (join on their terms), start yet another blockchain (and convince partners and the public that it's secure), or utilise The Original And Best Blockchain. I think the three approaches will coexist for some time.

I have no idea how this works but I see on that visual representation thingy that it says "Windows based application".
Are banking apps really running under Windows? whats the point? shouldn't they be using Linux for added security? Damn those guys are crazy. Do ATM machines have anti viruses installed or what?
I wish I knew about the traditional banking system as much as I do about Bitcoin (and I don't know much, but it sure helps being able to read the code because its open source..)

I don't know if banking apps run under Windows, but I know those high stakes gambling machines do. I once watched a repair technician fixing one, and I could see the windows system while he was doing it. Those things can take thousands of dollars of a single gambler in an hour, though they produce a winnings slip for big wins that you have to exchange for cash. ATMs probably use windows too.

ATMs in Britain definitely use Windows. Until 2004 they ran on OS/2, then migrated to Windows XP. If that sounds terrifying, you should check out "Windows for Warships" - an exciting mix of Windows 2000 and XP!

Whoa, dude, I think it's the accusation of you being a liar that you should be worried about, no? What with your coy approach to substantiating claims you make, and with your - ahem - muddied past history of claims that don't seem to gel with reality. I know, I know, we shouldn't take this so seriously - it's just that, well, most people have this concept of integrity. It confuses us little people when we encounter people who don't seem to value integrity the same way the rest of society does.

Wut?
Should I cry because some poor folk on the internets called me a liar?
Negative, LOL.

Well, you can if you want - really up to you, eh?! No, I'm just curious - unless you've got the stones to pony up every time you make one of these grandiose claims, you're going to get called out as... well, someone with an active imagination not really well grounded in reality. So it seems a little pointless making these "I got eleventy one withdrawals, <misogynist slur>, eat it, <scared of gay people slur> !!!1!" claims - unless you're being paid for it or have a fragile ego that needs regularly stoked with top quality bullshit. Unless there's some other reason I've missed?

tl;dr - what do you get out of your posts?

Genuine question, by the way. I kinda feel that if you were being paid for your posts your paymasters would make some effort to ensure your posts passed more than a cursory fact-check.

You bumhunting newbies? Sounds like a interesting sport to take up. I presumed 100% accuracy means they have not looked at the post yet.

No, the 100% accuracy means that for every report a poor wee lamb was served up with mint sauce. Check the meta section, it's all there!

Got my 3 withdraws yesterday.
Very awsome  Grin
You are a Liar.
From my last 10 withdrawals only 3 were executed. The last - 15 days ago.

I could care less about your withdraws.
I recieved 3 yesterday.
According to the blockchain a few thousand transactions were made yesterday.

729  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN] COINUT.COM ★ Signature Campaign ★ Pay per post ★ Weekly ★ on: September 15, 2015, 04:14:40 PM
If I post 60 post this week will the other 10 be carried to the next week or will it not count anymore?

My assumption (and this is my first full week, been paid once) is that the other 10 won't carry. (The reason I think that is that on the spreadsheet people with the max in one week sometimes have very few posts the following week).

I understand that Wangxinxi is very busy to give out the payment for everyone and running his business, if he pays, but not on time that's understandable, at least he is not scamming by not paying

Totally. Part of the reason Wangxinxi is busy is because he spent a good part of yesterday helping me with a problem I was having with the site. IMO the site should take priority over other issues, like the sig campaign. It's Coinut's core business, after all!

You're lying. You still haven't explained your doctored screenshot of a ~60 BTC withdrawal.

You're a liar.

I think you have your wires crossed, it is you that has lied.

Here is your screenshot without a TX id

So, provide a tx id for that and all is forgiven.
It's ok, we know you won't/can't.

LOL
Forgiven? LOL
You assholes take this shit too seriously.
And no, no TX id's, search the blockchain fo' that.
 Kiss

That seems reasonable - we just need to stop taking you seriously. Wait...

Unbelievably awesome! You're one lucky dude. While you're here, any chance of - finally! - getting an answer to the mysteriously unsubstantiated claims you made last time you were this lucky?

The only payroll i'm on is my jobs.
Please provide proof of SCC's payroll. LOL.
It's not hard to follow the blockchain to see WD addresses.
Try harder.
Xoxo

The thing is, it is. You told us you'd received two 4 BTC withdrawals. You'll recall I've mentioned that I searched back through the transactions at the address you gave us, and failed to find any 4 BTC withdraws. I've mentioned this several times now, but I guess you keep missing my posts.

According to the blockchain the lucky group just keeps on getting bigger.
So much luck. Such wow.

Indeed! And you're part of that lucky group! And you were part of that lucky group last time! And yet... when asked to prove it you showed an address that - curiously - didn't have the transactions we'd expect from the claims you'd made Sad I guess you just made a mistake. So - what's the address you received the two 4 BTC withdraws to? Or, if you're coy, what's the real transaction ID that included the two mysterious transactions? Waiting with bated breath here - I kinda feel the end is almost in sight!!! All these folk who think you're a lying liar from Liartown, boy are they about to be shocked - right?!

733  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Core on: September 15, 2015, 02:20:21 PM
Hi everyone!

I am new to bitcoins. Today i tried to transfer money to bitcoin but nothing came to my wallet. So, i downloaded Bitcoin Core and created an address (File-> Receiving addresses->New) Then i went to exchanger to transfer money from credit card to bitcoin. I used the created address and the transaction was finished. However in the end i received nothing on my wallet. Support said the transaction was succesfull. What i did wrong? I am sure that i entered correct address, it is still presented in Receiving addresses.

I could not find any good guides for sending/receiving in Bitcoin Core so decided to ask here. Thanks for help!

Could you post the address you used here? (It's safe to do so, but you shouldn't take my word for it! If you post here, what I'll do is check the address using a block explorer - so, if you don't trust me of the internet with your address, you could do the same).

Whatever you decide - bookmark this! https://btc.blockr.io Tools like this are incredibly useful for checking on transactions - every time I send or receive bitcoins I use this.
734  Other / Politics & Society / Re: SUCEFUL: Next-Gen ATM Malware Can Block Cards Inside ATMs on: September 15, 2015, 12:58:11 PM
Hmm,

I am not too sure about this. Most atm's today just have a swipe pad. The card does not enter the machine. Also the security camera is usually a separate system.

When I worked at a bank(Years ago) If the machine took someone's card they always called immediately and showed up at the bank early the next day demanding their card.

Globally there must be plenty of ATMs without swipe pads - until you mentioned I didn't know they existed! (In the UK ATMs still require cards to be inserted. Over the past few years most of them seem to have that blue/green plastic thing that does something to improve security, but that's the only visible improvement).

I'm sure you're right about customers calling their bank, but... whenever an ATM has swallowed my card (admittedly not recently, and only twice) I've called the telephone number on the machine itself (obviously I won't be doing that again!) I'm sure that's true for most people, so they could be easily fooled - particularly if they're using a generic ATM, or an ATM belonging to a different bank (in the UK most bank customers can use other banks' ATMs).

I'm also not too sure how useful security cameras are - it would only take a minute for an adversary with their face masked to remove stolen cards. In the UK the area around the ATM would probably be covered in CCTV anyway, so the adversary would probably wait until it was dark, cover their face, etc.
735  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin= 1M$ tomorrow. What you will do? on: September 15, 2015, 12:26:24 PM
Assuming that it's risen against other major currencies as well...

...then I'd assume that it would shortly fall back. I'd (a) sell calls with an expiry a few months ahead, and (b) buy short-term puts. I'd also start considering where I could free-up fiat, to buy BTC when it falls back.

I'm useless with timing BTC sales/purchases, and don't have easy fiat access to an exchange (banks in the UK are pretty hostile to bitcoin) so I doubt I'd have a chance to sell any BTC before it hit USD 1MM. I'm also wary of the tax hit I'd take - I'm not really planning on converting BTC to fiat until I can do it in as tax-efficient way as possible, and that's not a problem I need to face right now. Once it happens, though, yes, I'll buy a boat, an island and live a life of luxury!

52 reports, 99%. Most of that is that annoying malware that hacks users' accounts and then spams threads with links to "mining" software (malware).

What's address of create new ticket support? I can't found.
My withdraw USD pending 4 days not process.

Do you know they switched banks a few times lately? Some posts on the previous page are about the changes. It could take them some time to change their software to using a new bank account. That could be the reason for your delayed withdrawal. It's strange how they switched banks twice recently though.

It's maybe the "stress test" (or the giveaway coinwallet.eu ran instead) - I requested a withdraw on the 11th and it got stuck with no confirmations. A later withdrawal went through fine, so I emailed support about the earlier withdrawal. Support replied pretty promptly. (I finally got my withdrawal yesterday).
739  Other / Off-topic / Re: Which operating system do you use? Windows? Linux? Mac? other? on: September 15, 2015, 10:36:37 AM
Anything Unix, though quite a few jobs in the past involved using a Windows desktop to shell into Unix boxes. Right now I've got a Macbook (and I'm loving OS X) and various boxes running Linux (mostly Debian or Ubuntu). In the near future I'm setting up a new NAS, and that'll be either a BSD- or Solaris-derivative.
740  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: lost password on: September 15, 2015, 08:59:22 AM
hello, i use to use electrum and stopped using it, but someone had to send me some btc and it was the only client i had, i gave them my receive address and now i can't send it because i believe i lost the password. I've tried about 10-20 of all the passwords i use and none of them work, what can i do?
please help me, theres around 1.37 btc, thanks.

I don't use Electrum, so I'm basing this on the FAQ. Do you still have the "seed"? If you do it looks like you might be in luck - you can restore your wallet from the seed and reset your password to a new one. If you don't have the seed I'm out of ideas - sorry!
