Great!

P.S. don't forget to lock this thread.
743  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Dwolla -> BTC woes on: July 27, 2012, 06:25:58 PM
You can find people here willing to sell bitcoins or mt.gox usd codes for Dwolla. Or after 30 days, you can send to CampBX which has fast deposits and withdrawals (probably because it is an American company). A quick search of Dwolla wil yield several threads where Dwolla is being traded.

You can also check out bitcoin-otc, but it has a steeper learning curve.
744  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it possible that bitcoin will become unaffordable to use for micropayments? on: July 27, 2012, 02:34:03 AM
It bothers me to read bitcoin propaganda that harps strongly on the "no transaction fees" bit.

Hasn't Gavin said that bitcoin is not supposed to be particularly useful for micropayments in the long run?

Threads like this remind me...

There will never be a "bigger, better" bitcoin (I realize litecoin is not this, or intending to be this, continue reading). People on this forum talk about bitcoin losing value when a better cryptocurrency arrives. This thread explains why that will NEVER happen. Bitcoin is a one-of-a-kind, simply because it happened to become well-bootstrapped before it could be bullied around at the whims of some "dude."

That said, I don't really give three shits or another about litecoin. I do hate to see someone's hard work get destroyed. BTCX is the fat kid knocking over sandcastles at the beach.

But remember, they are just sandcastles.

*buys bitcoins

I have a restore point from the last Windows update. Will that restore the missing services?

Is that date before that file was created? And I am not totally sure on that. It kind of depends in what manner they have been removed.
Yes, and windows update was certainly working. I guess I'll try, and if that doesn't work, repair install.

Thanks for your help! It saved me a lot of grief and was greatly appreciated.

BTW: wrorap.dll somehow hacked the web browsers (it was being used by them when I tried to delete it). That's what was causing the redirects.

restore points can be infected.

Same thing happened to me. I ran GMER and some other tool on it, nothing was found, but I knew I was in trouble. My credit card ended up being used at an ATM in Russia shortly after. I just switched to Linux and changed all my PINs and passwords.
One of the advantages Bitcoin offers is greater security Smiley.

I consider myself lucky that they didn't get into my wallet or private keys (ditched those). The VISA refund was nice, too.

Good luck!
748  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best <insert name>coins to speculate on on: July 22, 2012, 10:39:04 PM
No it doesnt. It only means, that the bottom price for 1 LTC will be whatever it costs to mine that 1 LTC value equivalent (speak USD or BTC). Increasing the hashrate by manyfold, while the difficulty has not picked up yet also means very many LTC will be mined in that relatively short period of time, raising the total supply for that period. A price drop is much more likely then a price surge, because those extra LTC can be sold shortly thereafter. They may be held nonetheless and sold later, when prices stabilize or go up for any unrelated reason.

Interesting. I think I won't buy a few.

In my opinion once asic hit, all gpus will be targeted on litecoin.  Just a hunch.

Interesting. I think I'll buy a few.

Question:

This account of mine has over 1 BTC pending rewards, I thought rewards were sent every 1 BTC?
http://www.pyramining.com/account/browse?id=t3s8g64x

Thanks! Excited about the upgrades.

Ah, it's my last payout. Of course. Sorry.

I think it was more than negligence that killed solidcoin. Haha. If I were to play around with alts, i would use litecoin. But, I really don't see litecoin being significant long term (sorry litecoiners). Namecoin is interesting, but I haven't quite wrapped my mind around it yet. Not sure if there is much trading going on there either.

Some of the more transparent deposits and also personal loans are the main reason I keep buying bitcoins. I'd rather my money be working for me than having it sit in an interest-free checking account.
