@balu2 ... good thinking, and IMZ was way ahead on this one.

Re: the bigger picture

We don't need to be on Wall St.
We create our own institution the P2P ETFs backed by UN Clearing House International.

Plus I can go from cash in my pocket to holding an UNHedge in about 1hr (really ... cash>btc>uno>UNhedge)
Can you do that with the big boys ETFs?

1.  Winkivoss twins couldn't be more pure blue blood WASP elitist ... they ARE the essence of the ivy league ... they stink of bloody old money and privilege. Wink Wink is highly connected to the powers that be.  AND they are stuck +18months in review/approval Huh

2.  We need to be about X5 bigger than LTC to even consider paying the legal cost of round 1 of discovery/filing.

3.  The old system is BROKEN, let it go.  It's (mostly very) dead Jim.

4.  You can back UNO with a Wall St. ETF // it's easy all you have to do is set up a peg clearly define that X uno = Y wall street trade certificates (and Honestly honor this promised price index // building trust in the p2p trust network).  UNO is the superblock of this new p2p trust network ... and it will expand to include peers in all well organized coin communities.  Welcome to the NEM Smiley

5.  If we really, truly, desperately yearn to be "Listed and High Frequency Trade" ... go around the wall NOT through the wall.  We can buy control of an already listed (yet very small) company.  DING! ps ... doesn't even have to be a Yankee registered company.

---
That said I am very interested in exploring an UNO backed 'asset'.
We should do them all >> NXT, BTSX, CP, and even a dogeparty.
We need to keep some continuity (use the same formula) but different players can manage/back the assets.
(do this to prevent public confusion)

BUT ... I'm not well informed (cuz I've avoid these 3rd Party coins) so guessing that the asset would be like the BitUSD or a NuBit?  1=1?

@ anyone that is familiar with NXT, BTSX, CP
What can we do?  And How?
7426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BTCtalkcoin [TALK] - Pure POS - Multipool Ready! - AirDrop Has Arrived on: November 14, 2014, 12:35:41 PM
Will the wallet get coin control features?
No is the short answer.  Which is to say not in the near future.  But if the community concludes that a hardfork is needed then yes coin control will certainly be one of the add-ons.

Right now there are two versions of the wallet and they work well.  Minting is as easy as clicking the unlock button.  And the wallet states current minting difficulty (so you already have a way of estimating your coin control standing) ... if you have mature coins then you should mint a coin rather quickly.

Bottom line if it not broken don't try to fix it.  This said, I have played with over 60 staking wallets.  The majority of them do not even connect to the network.  The dev that replaced/fixed ver1.4 with the current ver1.5 demonstrated good grasp of pure stakes coding (early in the game mind you).

The wallets work and is as good as most of the more popular stakes coins and much better than many of the hack job pure stacks that are (ninja mined) rushed out to be pumped and dumped.

BCC has been over looked because it lacked HYPE.  The dev has left a working coin in control of the bitcointalk community, it is not an abandoned nonfunctional coin.

Instead it is a fairly good coin lacking an active buzzing community.  In part because it has no exchange listing known yet.  That could change quickly.  And all you that still have your original allotment of BCC best be staking!

@MarSas post you addie ... and I'll do my part to make sure no question goes un tipped Cheesy

7437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Unobtanium Wallet Back-Ups 101 on: November 13, 2014, 02:16:22 PM
@cragV good stuff ... http://www.dataretriever.com.au/ ... keep that link handy too if anyone needs PRO data recovery.

here is another cross posting from Ian

Regarding backup procedure.

Backup work load should be proportional to risk. Backing up after each transaction should not be an issue as long as your equipment is reliable. I'd hate to be running a point of sale running a backup process after each sale. It's dependent on individual usage and environment.

Step 1. Research and decide upon a backup procedure that adequately fits the situation at hand.
Crypto's are a new one for me and I'm only 90% happy with my current scenario (I have to many alts it can be a pain to keep up), though I'd still rather have them in my hands than a web wallet. Community is great, take advantage of that shared knowledge and experience. If you have the time, always lean towards more backup.

Step 2. Have reliable equipment.
I use SSD's in all my computers to eliminate shock damage, though the downside is a less recoverable media in case of equipment failure. I maintain regular hardware tests to compensate. The cost is higher but it lowers risks considerably. You wouldn't cross a desert in a 10 year old voltswagon which might die any moment. Don't store your wealth on a 10 year old ex government laptop which might die at any moment. If you don't have the cash to completely replace, consider always keeping your Hard Drives Fresh and never let them cook in overheating scenarios.

Step 3. Backup to alternate reliable equipment.
I have a double USB backup used alternatively. It's relatively cheap and easy, though the Bitcoin block chain might be a problem soon.

Step 4. Backup to alternate reliable equipment in an alternate physical location.
I have an external SSD for this part. This is intended to be my cold storage unit. Robust and shock proof it will stay in an alternate location. I also have a NAS which will when enough funds justify the effort and maintenance be part of a live backup system which can store the most precious of data live in cloud storage.

Step 5. Test your backup process.
No point doing all this work if your doing it wrong. Make sure it works. Test with small amounts.

As a side note some of my wallet backups are not encrypted. This is really bad, don't do this. Always encrypt. I saw it said earlier but it should be re-iterated. If someone gets hold of an old backup file (you throw out a computer, someone hacks drop box) they can unlock your new protected super secure encypted wallet (not really but they get access to the money and completely ignore your new better backup habits). If like me you think the risks are low and you don't hold a lot of coin remember when you do hold a lot of coin and the risks become greater to move to a new address. Send your coins to yourself at a new address. As a tech guy I am surprised by how much stuff people leave on old hardware. I'm surprised we haven't heard a story about how a tech guy found a cache of bitcoin son somebodies pc yet. Though they might not be so quick to brag about it

7440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EMC2] Einsteinium | funding science education, research, & development on: November 13, 2014, 10:56:26 AM

The macro view you laid out is certainly deserving of its own discussion thread, however, the majority of the cause-coins most fitted for that discussion would probably have limited engagement.  As mentioned most are highly focused on independent projects, and of course have investment concerns for their respective coins as well.

I think as multi-lateral projects are tackled relationships will form allowing for the discussion of universal protocols to gain favor.  Last week, WorldAidCoin contacted us to tell us about a project in Africa that they want EMC2 to consider for co-partnernership with them, I told them we could consider contributing to the 'science research' part of the endeavor, but if it didn't have such an avenue, we could still provide strategic assistance in the form of marketing, essentially extending their limited reach to the extent of our reach.

I know nothing of BCT or UNO, but I did see some negative mention made in a different thread, knowing how negativity seems to flow faster than positivity on this site.  I want to extend to you an invitation to tell us all about BCT, UNO, and/or the Blue Crypto Awards.  You are an invited guest with information that is within our purview, please share your knowledge and don't feel like you are intruding or taking up too much space, share freely.
