761  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] INTENSE COIN - Blockchain backed decentralized VPN - Hybrid PoW on: April 19, 2018, 02:49:23 PM
The reddit guide is still 100% valid

The blockchain should automatically reorganize. It will definitely happen when the v4 chain exceeds the v3 chain. If your v3 (pre-fork) chain was synced to be longer than the current v4 chain, and you're having troubles syncing the current v4 chain, use `intense-blockchain-import --pop-blocks 7500` to manually discard 7500 blocks from your chain.

Yep, I'm seeing the daemon report being ever more behind in blocks at around the 7460 mark so I'll try the blockchain import command.

EDIT - how long does this command usually run for, and how do you know it is done?

EDIT 2 - well, I got an answer to the above question - it terminated "after throwing an instance of 'boost::exception_detail::clone_imp<boost..." something or other which is way too tedious to type because I run wallets on an isolated laptop, not the desktop I am typing this post on.

So, a network hashrate exceeding 35 MH/s and price cratering to ~$0.36US got your attention, eh? Well, this announcement ought to be interesting...

EDIT - I did manage to snag about 300 DERO before price rebounded. Thanks, suckas, for the cheap coinz.  Grin

I tried to take advantage too, but the ever reliable Stocks.Exchange managed to lose two XMR deposits for almost a week. They got it sorted out this morning about half a day too late to pick up some cheap DERO. Sigh.

Having said that, if you take the long term view that DERO is headed to a price in the triple digits (USD) then the difference between $0.35 and $0.50 is trivial.

Looking forward to the announcement. Hopefully it's an ASIC killer and we can get back to mining.

Yes, good old stocks.exchange takes incompetence to depths that would make the Mariana Trench envious.  I really like how you have to go through CloudFlare's DDOS check every 5 minutes on their site, too; it makes me feel totally secure they know what they are doing over there.  Tongue

But, yeah - I do take the long view on DERO (thanks in part to our previous discussions, I should note), however, I did stop mining because seeing my mightiest* 1.9kH/s CN rig get reduced to bring in like 1 DERO per day was too depressing to contemplate. It also does ~56MH/s on Ethash so switched it over to MUSIC while all this forking gets sorted out.

* - admittedly not mighty, but GPUs were very hard to come by.

Release CLI binaries are available for Linux, Mac and Windows: https://github.com/valiant1x/intensecoin/releases/tag/v2.0.0
...

Two questions about migrating from 1.4.2 to 2.0.0:

1. Does the guide posted on Reddit still apply: https://www.reddit.com/r/IntenseCoin/comments/89gw15/guide_converting_your_141142_wallet_to_the_145/?st=JFSFQH68&sh=236d5812?

2. Usually one needs to nuke the existing blockchain in situations like this, but no mention was made of that in the above guide either for the 1.4.5 rebase or this one; an oversight or not?

764  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DERO FIRST SSL BLOCKCHAIN: CryptoNote Privacy + Smart Contracts on: April 19, 2018, 01:43:39 PM
I’ve been monitoring the network hashrate and many other things very closely, and the time has come where we are going to provide an update to everyone in the next 36 hours or less.

The Dero team will do our best to provide some clarity and transparency about what the development team has been up to, an update about where we’re headed, and how we plan to tackle the problem.

So, a network hashrate exceeding 35 MH/s and price cratering to ~$0.36US got your attention, eh? Well, this announcement ought to be interesting...

Can someone please explain to me why i just got this message?

A topic you are watching has been locked by (anonymous).

You really have to ask why your obvious attempt at advertising for some online casino got locked? I mean, your username is NewCryptocasinos, there is a link to a website of the same name in your sig and you are "wondering" if online casinos can help bitcoin...  Roll Eyes

Frankly, you should count yourself lucky that only your thread got locked because you could be banned for advertising/spamming.

766  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DERO FIRST SSL BLOCKCHAIN: CryptoNote Privacy + Smart Contracts on: April 18, 2018, 11:09:46 PM
Been getting "Result rejected by the pool" across all my miners, and "SOCKET ERROR - your IP is banned" on one of them (but only one).  This has been going on a while - have endless screenfuls of these messages - seems I have been burning through electricity for nothing.

Have now stopped and restarted the miners, and the problem seems to have gone away, for now.  There have been no recent config or miner changes.  What could cause this to happen all of a sudden, and then go away as mysteriously as it came?

Is this with xmr-stak? If so, it happens to me occasionally, but only when mining DERO for some reason. Just like for you stopping and restarting the miners (after the requisite 10 minute ban passes) solves the problem.

767  Other / Meta / Re: @Admins: Merit not working as configured, trolls just don't care (no surprise) on: April 18, 2018, 04:49:20 PM
I was going to suggest that various features of the forum be unlocked through payment - a freemium model in which you can join/read for free...

I think something like that could work also. I don't think it would deter the outright trolls though.

Hmm, yes. I didn't even think of the effect pay-to-post would have on the trolls; rather chilling, I imagine. If pay-to-post was implemented this would likely be one of the first major forums to do so and would itself make an interesting social experiment.

If I had to pay each time I posted I wouldn't pay at all, and it isn't because I don't think my posts are so good they would bring tears to @nullius' eyes, but because I place a non-zero value on my time so if I choose to spend some of it posting here I damn well am not going to pay to do so. Frankly, that sounds rather like Brazil (the movie).

Well, it depends how high the fee per post was set. Would you pay 0.0001 satoshis for 1 post as a Legendary member? See how this works? The price mechanism is powerful, if the price was just high enough to erase all spammers aside from the richest trolls, it would be a price worth paying IMO. And it might even lead to identifying the trolls (and wasting alot of their money).

Right, well, that is such a small price it qualifies as dust on the mote of dust, so, no, I wouldn't object to that aside from the principle of not wanting to pay to voluntarily contribute my time, that is. A possible compromise would be to make posting free once Legendary rank was reached, however. I don't seem to have nearly as much of a problem with that, though I'm not entirely sure why.

768  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] #3 [XUN] UltraNote is READY, Everyone is welcome to mine. on: April 18, 2018, 04:38:19 PM
You don't need to do anything if you have an account on Stocks.exchange. You will receive your airdrop.

I received my first ever airdrop and I feel kind of dirty because of it...  Grin

Ingenious marketing scheme, now you just need to fork to a new algo so us mere mortals who didn't feed the Shitmain/BilkAll/etc. ASIC machine can resume mining.

769  Other / Meta / Re: @Admins: Merit not working as configured, trolls just don't care (no surprise) on: April 18, 2018, 04:30:15 PM
Nobody is going to pay for every post they make and theymos would never do this. The best suggestion I have come up with is that nobody has a signature at all unless they pay a one off fee (like Copper Membership but higher)...

I was going to suggest that various features of the forum be unlocked through payment - a freemium model in which you can join/read for free, and maybe post to a newbie section (which I understand the forum used to have); pay a small fee to unlock posting anywhere; pay another small fee to unlock the avatar; pay a higher fee to unlock a Jr. Member sig, more to unlock a sig with links, even more to have more than 3 lines/colors/whatever.

Somewhere a page or two back it was advised to wait until the hard fork on Apr-21 is complete before doing any more transfers and that the (rather complicated) instructions on the Reddit page below must be followed to smoothly import the old wallet (rather than transfer coins to a new address in the new wallet - an altogether easier approach but which is no longer usable).

this is english moderated topic, so what's stopping you to do the translation by translator and paste english text here?

What prevents you from using translation?

How about rule #9:

Requiring a log in to the least anonymous platform in the world to read news about an anonymous cryptocurrency? No thanks.

773  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [$XVG] VERGE [POW][MultiAlgo][BLACKHOLE][Entire Line of TOR/i2P Resources] on: April 17, 2018, 01:04:03 PM

Is that the big announcement? If so, that is truly disgusting. They paid money to a porn company to accept their coin?

Using anonymous crypto to pay for premium porn sounds like a good use case to me.

Anyone on the xvg bandwagon?
I'm dual mining it and bought some cheap a few weeks ago

Supposedly some big announcement today, and price is definitely getting pumped. I just sold about 20% of my XVG holdings on Bittrex as a result.

776  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DERO FIRST SSL BLOCKCHAIN: CryptoNote Privacy + Smart Contracts on: April 17, 2018, 09:41:57 AM
While the attacks against DERO seemed to have failed (so far), the recent attack against ITNS resulted in shutting down mining completely and moving the date of their hard fork to Cryptonight v7 (ie - same as XMR) up to April 21.

Consequently, there is 1 less coin that is still running the original CN algo, and those ASICs haven't been turned into boat anchors and doorstoppers just yet...

EDIT - I just checked the price of DERO and see it has gone down dramatically over the last few days, and I can't help but suspect it is ASIC miners dumping their coins as fast as they mine them at whatever price the can get.

777  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] INTENSE COIN - Blockchain backed decentralized VPN - Hybrid PoW on: April 16, 2018, 09:17:16 PM
An update for you all! Thank you so much for your patience.

https://intensecoin.com/2018/04/16/imminent-hard-fork-and-network-attack/

Thanks for the explanation, and for making the difficult choice to roll back the blocks found by the 51% attacker as well as speed up the change to the PoW algo. I have to say I am duly impressed by this and will be glad to resume mining after the hard fork goes through. It's likely that some of my ITNS will be cancelled out, but that's a small price to pay to stick it to cheaters.
778  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [TRTL] TurtleCoin - Cowabunga Dudes! on: April 16, 2018, 08:17:46 PM
I wonder if attempting to bootstrap the blockchain will be any quicker. The download speed of the file is a whopping 612kB/sec on my 40Mb connection currently.

It didn't speed things up for me - the new wallet starting syncing from block 0 despite following the bootstrap instructions precisely.
779  Other / Meta / Re: ATTENTION! BOUNTY CAMPAIGN MODUS OPERANDI SPOTTED! on: April 16, 2018, 06:14:25 PM
Seriously, we need a manager who do everything precisely.
I like running campaigns with zero tolerance and very strict rules. But that just means no business for me, the market demands something else.
-snip-

Hmm, you've just made a very eloquent and persuasive argument to ban bounty campaigns completely. You convinced me, anyway.

780  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] INTENSE COIN - Blockchain backed decentralized VPN - Hybrid PoW on: April 16, 2018, 11:55:58 AM
So, 0.00 H/s on main intensecoin pool and 0 connected miners. Looks like everyone without an ASIC has given up on mining this coin, and I can't say I blame 'em, really.

EDIT - I just tried connecting and the connection was refused, so it actually looks like the pool is down.
