761  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 1% fee solo mining USA/DE 253 blocks solved! on: January 05, 2020, 07:20:58 PM
I would be happy to host the next paid round if people are interested I have been mining here for quite some time and am a active community member.

I think it would be an idea if we go forward to multi-sig funds for rentals with 2 members being signing party's this would add some security to the process?

I do think having a community effort at block breaking is a great idea I would also like to continue with the "free" group effort,  I have the spare time to put towards watching rentals  and the pool and am online almost 24/7.

Please feel free to vet me out and check my contributions to the pool and forum, I have also been a keen renter of power on the pool in the hunt for blocks so I understand the rental market's.

Let me know what you guy's think I would be more than happy to oblige.

762  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: number of TOR Full Nodes increased crazy last week on: January 05, 2020, 06:44:15 PM
Actually with the Eclipse attack you would only need 40% of the network to conduct this attack as the nodes and IP buckets of honest nodes become filled with attacker IPs.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-lF0zxGpu0

Granted some of the vectors were fixed by core some time ago when this was first thought up but the attack is still valid and I am sure there is something going on here.

No one spins up 2k nodes over night for no reason.
763  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: number of TOR Full Nodes increased crazy last week on: January 05, 2020, 06:21:57 PM
This is actually concerning I have spoken with one of the dev's at wasabi and been confirmed this is not them.

Code:
"nopara73, [05.01.20 17:04]

No, these are onion nodes, while Wasabi doesn'

nopara73, [05.01.20 17:04]
doesn't enforce onion nodes.

Further to this it my be possible it is the start of an Eclipse attack that would hoodwink many honest nodes by filling there IP buckets with malicious IP's..  Bitcoin core did add some fixes to prevent this but I still think the attack vector is valid.

Further more we need to ask who would have the resources and time to spin up all these nodes?

I find it very strange that none of the main media outlets like coin telegraph or coindesk are covering this.

If we suddenly saw 20% more mining power on a single pool the community would be up in arms but yet we see a 18+% rise in tor nodes and it fly's under the radar?

Do people realize that with Eclipse attack you would  only need around 40% hash power to conduct a successful attack and the old 51% goes out the window.

Snapshot of reachable nodes as of Sun Jan 05 2020 16:19:04 GMT+0000 (Greenwich Mean Time).
Code:

Top 6 networks with their respective number of reachable nodes.

RANK NETWORK NODES
1 Tor network 2206 (19.74%)
2 Hetzner Online GmbH 1079 (9.65%)
3 Amazon.com, Inc. 785 (7.02%)
4 DigitalOcean, LLC 711 (6.36%)
5 OVH SAS 477 (4.27%)
6 Choopa, LLC 449 (4.02%)

Another thing to note is all the new nodes are running this version of bitcoin
Code:
/Satoshi:0.18.1/ (70015)
NODE_NETWORK, NODE_BLOOM, NODE_WITNESS, NODE_NETWORK_LIMITED (1037)

Should we be concerend about this?

Thank you for the links  Smiley
765  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Bitcoin 0.0.1 > on: January 04, 2020, 07:28:36 PM
Where can I obtain a copy of the ORIGINAL source code of bitcoin?
It seems the github is not keeping a record of all versions from launch and It seems very difficult to find the genuine copy of the original source.

I know there are some "non official" sources that claim to host this but I am not so sure they are the original code.

Could someone link me to somewhere I can get the official Satoshi release with if possible in the original  packed container.

Thanks in advance!
766  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Hooking up Antminer S3 to 750 watt power supply on: January 04, 2020, 06:23:03 PM
If the "Obtain DNS server address automatically" is greyed out is if you have selected a STATIC IP ADDRESS, in other words you have selected NOT to use "Obtain an IP address automatically".

If you do this and select a Static IP Address, you are electing not to have your IP address for your computer assigned by the DHCP in your router/gateway.

Hope this helps!
767  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Hooking up Antminer S3 to 750 watt power supply on: January 04, 2020, 04:27:13 PM
With the S3 you should press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds then wait 3 min for the software to reset then re-boot the miner.
As said above this should re-set you back to the main window and default the IP back to standard.

You may wish to try hook the miner to your laptop or PC and manually set the IP

here is the step by step process to configure your AntMiner.

Code:
Start Button  >  Control Panel  >  Network and Internet (View network status and tasks)  >>  Change adapter setting (Left side of the screen)  >>  Local Area Connection (Double Click)  >> Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) then Click on “Properties”  >>  Select Use the following IP address:

Your S3 has a factory default IP address of :
192.168.1.99 and the Netmask of 255.255.255.0 and the Gateway 192.168.1.1

Set your computer's IP address to the following:

IP Address: 192.168.1.250
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

For the DNS Setting:  Select “Obtain DNS server address automatically

If you still cannot find it on the network then the miner may have other issues.
One issues with the S3 miners if the mosfet driver not kicking in this will stop the board starting up when you turn on the S3 miner listen to it carefully you should here some sort of noise as the power kicks in and the fans spin up if there  is not this noise the board may be bad and require fixing.

Feel free to hit me up if you need more help I am still a S3 user to this day!

While censorship is not something I would vote for I do think this situation requires more of a fight back from the bitcoin community, my fear is that the Nchain and BSV sockpuppets are in full attack mode against not only bitcoin but many of the outstanding people in the space.

I have found many new BSV supporters taking to Youtube to slate and attempt to discredit some of the long term bitcoin supports..

Some of the people who have been attacked in public are Andreas Antonopoulos

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBQvJkATZVE
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKqVuMDIfxjtooRKCS-G0hg

You only need to look at this guy to know he's a shill probably being paid to output this content.

Now while I do say everyone has the right to chose to use what every they see fit what I don't think is right is the fact that not 1 but 2 projects now have taken the bitcoin name and attempted to use it to manipulate users.

There must be some way we can protect  the Bitcoin name from abuse like this and I think the community should be looking into ways to protect bitcoin thru the relative channels.

Furthermore we need more education for new users and businesses to help protect them from this toxic bunch of people.

While the love for bitcoin is still strong and those who understand and have been "around the block" for some time understand what is going on but for the new users or company's out there looking at us from the outside.. Things may not look so peachy.
769  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 1% fee solo mining USA/DE 253 blocks solved! on: January 03, 2020, 09:57:12 PM
mrr is more expensive.

everyone is over 0.00002393

https://www.miningrigrentals.com/rigs/sha256

right now the fools club is paying 0.0000189

Look at it with LTC as the option.
I find it can be cheaper sometimes depending on a few factors.

Good luck guys hope you kill one before your rentals run out!
770  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Full node on Raspberry 3: Out of memory on: January 03, 2020, 09:04:02 PM
It looks like compile may run out of memory.

You could try 'free -m' option to check your free memory then if you need to you can add some swap space with the code below.

You many need to use sudo command for the swap space.

To add a 1gb swap file, in /swapfile:

Code:
sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/swapfile bs=1024M count=1000
sudo mkswap /swapfile
sudo swapon /swapfile

After compiling turn OFF swap

Code:
Code:
sudo swapoff /swapfile
sudo rm /swapfile

You should look at the MRR market place nice hash can be a serious pain when the bidding wars start also I found that rentals go much further on https://www.miningrigrentals.com/ and there's a good chance of being credited back some funds for each rental you do if the speed is not 100% on point which I though was quite a nice touch from them.

they also have the affiliate system (wink wink) for some extra $$$ back when renting.
772  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Accidentely delete address before I receive fund on: December 30, 2019, 07:32:21 PM
Did you make a copy of your seed phrase?
This should be 12 random words when you created your wallet?

DO NOT POST YOUR 12 WORDS ANYWHERE ( PEOPLE WILL STEAL YOUR WALLET)

You should be able to recover the wallet with the 12 seed words.

Just make sure and take a back up copy of your wallet file before you do anything!

Once you are 100% sure you have a safe back up of the wallet file you should then try recover from the seed

Open the program, File -> new/restore -> enter in your seed when asked.

This should restore the wallet to it's original state and show the addresses.

With 10.9 PH your chances are :

Code:
Chance per block: 1 in 9,921

Chance per day: 1 in 69

Time estimate: 69 days

But again these numbers are only estimated.

Not going to lie I gave up on NH after the "hack"  and started renting at https://www.miningrigrentals.com/
Good customer support and never had any issues there and I have had some refunds for rentals that didn't meet the spec's offered over the rental period they do treat the customer much better here than at NH
777  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain & Canaan To Release 5nm chip ASIC Miners in Q1 2020! on: December 29, 2019, 03:56:39 PM
I still run my S3'+s.  Some of the toughest miners they made in my view I still have around 10 of them with not one chip down.

It would be very nice to see bitmain give us a miner with less draw but I cannot see this being the case from what I have been reading it's going to be a trade off between better hashing power or better efficiency.

Do we know any more info on this or a rough date they may be hitting the store?

Good luck to the

"10 fools club  for solo.ckpool"

@ MagicByt3
how about calling your club the "10 luckier fools club for solo.ckpool"   Grin

I'm actually in awe at how quickly the paid pool filled up seems we have some gamblers in the house.

I think we could drop the fools from the name and go with, 10 hashate hero's still striving on for glory!  sounds much more epic!

End of the day we still got our hashrate after the rentals dry up and we don't have a time limit on our shot.
While we slowly cruise on past with the windows down and the system up!

779  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Global Debt to be Worth $12 Million per Bitcoin by Year End on: December 29, 2019, 01:56:04 AM
There is no relationship between Bitcoin and the value of the financial sector, economic output or worldwide debt. You can compare the value of Bitcoin to the value of anything, but that doesn't mean that they will some day be equal.

The most appropriate comparison is to something that Bitcoin can replace, such as base money, which is about $19 trillion. Only then can you get a realistic target.

Hmm. I would beg to differ on this thanks mostly in part to a very famous post by the late Mr Hal Finney,
From the quote below it seems that it may have been a possibility that things like debt, wealth and other factors were indeed looked at at some time.

While the debt clock continues tick closer to the western financial disaster on the horizon it seems the captain of the ship's heading for the rocks are doing what they always do... Nothing.
No warning calls just debt based financial ruin lay's ahead.

Code:

As an amusing thought experiment, imagine that Bitcoin is successful and
becomes the dominant payment system in use throughout the world.  Then the
total value of the currency should be equal to the total value of all
the wealth in the world. Current estimates of total worldwide household
wealth that I have found range from $100 trillion to $300 trillion. With
20 million coins, that gives each coin a value of about $10 million.

So the possibility of generating coins today with a few cents of compute
time may be quite a good bet, with a payoff of something like 100 million
to 1! Even if the odds of Bitcoin succeeding to this degree are slim,
are they really 100 million to one against? Something to think about...

780  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 1% fee solo mining USA/DE 253 blocks solved! on: December 29, 2019, 01:20:31 AM
I do not agree.
If 10 people joined up together on the main pool you still wouldn't get such a large share of the prize. as the rest of the pool takes a slice too.

Here if we team up some hashrate the payout would be much much better.

If that were not the case why would 10 people throw 0.125 btc at a "shot"  at the block.
Why not just point hashrate at it?

Dear friend, ten member with 500GH? what that means? I would cooperate when this team be able to collect 20,000TH. I can provide 200TH.

No it dose not say ten members with 500ghs.

It says 10 members,
with a minimum hashrate to join of 500ghs which would be around a S3 antminer.
It just stops people with stick miners trying to join taking up a place.

Here's an idea Magic,  it would probably be better to start  the pool 10 slots with a minimum 200Th so that way the odds increase with 1Ph

instead of having slots used up by lets say
2-S3 500Gh
3-S4 2Th
2-S9 26Th
1@200Th
1@400Th
1@500Th

Becuase i wouldnt want to bring my 400Th to this game.

I like the idea chillfactr.
But the idea was to try get some smaller miners together for the run we still need to be super super super lucky.

It was more an idea for people like myself who have one or two machine still running working in a team rather than us all going at the glory alone like a lot of us have been doing.

I value the input if we were to do something like about how would we work out the payment if we did crack a block?

My thoughts were if we treat it like a team effort where everyone is rewarded the same it would stop someone jumping in with a rental and scooping the most reward if we try to keep it a fair system when everyone work is treated the same and everyone get's there cut from the outset there can be no arguments or disagreements come potential  payday.

This also required the user to agree to this when joining you know from the outset the reward would be split fair across all 10 users so you could choose to put in as little or as much as you see fit as per the potential reward,  but moreover its about team spirit and the potential payout if we did break one.

** EDIT **

Update to Non-Paid Block hunt list

Code:
1. MagicByt3  | "hashrate7d": "4.05T" | Workers "Lucky777 | Lucky888"
2. jimjam123 | "hashrate7d": TBC | Workers "jimjam123"
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

8 places left! Smiley

Looking at your team, how can you pay everyone a split?  Someone is in with an S9 and someone with a S17 get paid the same?  Me thinks, you should pay on what % has rate is provided.  I was thinking of throwing my S17 Pro in with you guys, but 76 Th gets paid the same as someone with 15Th.  No thanks.

Like I said its more a team thing not looking for my balls are bigger than your balls here so I should get more pie than you.
Its some forum fun with a potential payout I think a TEAM effort should be a fair split.

as said already if your looking at it  in the light of not everyone is equal then best mine on the main pool and share your reward depending on your hashrate.

Another reason is I am not sure how we could work out the payments if we go by shares or hashrate it really is better just to say well 10 people split the reward even that's smells like team spirit to me Smiley

Go on MadMartyK be a team player and join us!

I am open to ideas though I just thought doing it this way would be simpler for those who mine alone or are small home miners still hanging in there for the miracle
