Doesn't load for me either, and a search of their site came up with nothing.

Same here.

what if someone did a translation and wanted to remain anonymous, but still collect the reward?

I agree with moa. Have you people forgotten what happened to Julian and Wikileaks. Laws are there to protect the system. We are the threat and the system will do anything necessary to protect itself.
My advice is, if you engage in any activity assume that there will be efforts to close it down no matter legal status. You won't get a warning, nor a trial. Look what happened to mndrix and coinpal - shutdown! The only way to succeed is to be decentralized with no single point of failure.

I personally haven't read anywhere bitcoinex admitting that he was involved, so my suggestion is not to jump to conclusions. Money at stake is getting bigger and bigger and IMO it was just clouded judgement at an emotional moment to write what he wrote. Plus, from his previous posts it's clear that he, as anybody else on this site, wants bitcoin to succeed.

Whatever the came maybe, there is a bigger issue on the table. We all saw what this attack did, so instead of arguing who's wrong and who's right, lets concentrate on solving the problem how we could be more decentralized.

If 1/few guys ground the whole market to a standstill, I'm afraid we stand no chance when the real crack down happens

I couldnt agree more, As far as i know i've got a PGP key but.. Well, Thats the extent of what i know about the IRC otc GPG/PGP key thing. Seriously.
Then learn to use it. Sending and receiving singed and encrypted messages is not big deal.

What's more, it may prove very useful in the near future

mndrix, I just realized that you and your site built up such a good reputation that you could try taking Credit/Debit card payments. As recent events show, community support is everything and you've earned every bit we can provide.

Please don't abandon this project

In my opinion everybody is too emotional. We should lock this thread for some time and come back to it when everybody calms down
771  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MTGox vs mysterious Russia on: May 01, 2011, 03:28:18 AM
Great. I sent 250btc to mtgox just before it went down. I never saw confirmation on the pages until it actually went down - was there any db loss that might cause my BTC to disappear?

edit: I see in the other thread that someone else had this problem and you assured them that theirs are safe. I guess I'll just wait then.

anisoptera, don't panic. Nothing's lost and everything will be back to normal within 24 hours.

Guys look at the bright side - now mtgox will have better protection against DDoS when the real threat comes along. It's like practice

Paypal has just generated lots of publicity for it's arch enemy bitcoin and it is even not bad publicity. They dig their own grave.

They dug their grave along with governments when they cut off Wikileaks funds. Now it's just the last nails into the coffin

MagicalTux, if we mirrored your site, maybe you could do some load balancing?

Thanks bitcoinex, but I'm afraid I'll need more guidance. Where do i find the latest .po file in EN? I assume that's what I need to edit?
778  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Physical challenge! Dare or double dare. on: April 30, 2011, 11:11:39 PM
F@#&

Is that better?
779  Economy / Marketplace / Re: CoinPal beta - Buying bitcoins with PayPal on: April 30, 2011, 11:00:45 PM
What a bunch of cunts!

What if this community decided to put their paypal accounts where their mouth is and gave you their own account to operate coinpal with. Is it even feasible? If so, how many frozen paypal accounts do you think it would take for them to reverse the policy?

As this thread https://www.bitcoin.org/smf/index.php?topic=5869.0 suggests, food is the most sought after good. If you posted on the wiki trade page and here on the marketplace board I'm very confident people would buy it and it wouldn't get lost in the mix. That being said it would probably depend a lot on your location.
Unfortunately for me, my current location is London, UK  Sad
