7721  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 228: Woodley vs Till Info and Prediction Thread on: September 11, 2018, 02:20:44 AM
It was clearly shown that Tyron's right hand was very much faster than Darren Till's ability to move his head away from it hehehe.

In any case, he showed more class in his defeat than his victories. Stay true Darren!

7722  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-09-10] Goldman Sachs Plans to Launch Bitcoin Derivative on: September 11, 2018, 02:09:08 AM
Martin Chavez indicates that clients want a Bitcoin derivative, specifically saying “The next stage of the exploration is what we call non-deliverable forwards, these are over the counter derivatives, they’re settled in U.S. dollars and the reference price is the bitcoin-U.S. dollar price established by a set of exchanges”. Goldman Sachs is already settling Bitcoin futures contracts from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) since May 2018. This new derivatives product Martin Chavez is talking about is like an in-house version of cash-settled Bitcoin futures.

yawn. looks like more of the same---just cash-settled futures. if the contracts are non-deliverable, then no one will use these instruments as a way to buy or sell BTC. like the regulated futures markets that already exist, it won't affect the spot market.

Quote
From the perspective of custody, we don’t yet see an institutional-grade custodial solution for bitcoin, we’re interested in having that exist and it’s a long road”.

i wonder what their criteria is. i know coinbase's recently launched product is marketed as institutional-grade. same with bitgo and xapo. bit insulting for them, eh? Tongue

It is insulting but is he correct, or is his ignorance making him fear what he does not know?

Or maybe Goldman Sachs is secretly developing their own institutional-grade custodial solution? I reckon using institutional-grade security slogans might be good for their marketing strategy for their planned trading desk.
7723  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON [2018-07-12: update to 0.12.5.0+] on: September 11, 2018, 01:17:07 AM
@AdamT. There was an unofficial GUI before the code rebase which some people have gotten to work in Windows. But now I am not sure if there is a new one, but I heard there is one that was forked from Monero's GUI.

Also try asking in Aeon's Reddit page. They might know the answer. Aeoners in bitcointalk are isolated beings hehehe.
7724  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: September 11, 2018, 12:49:44 AM
I made this thread to discuss EOS' role in Ethereum's market fall. A fall which is abnormally bigger than most of the top 10 cryptocoins.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5025375.0

But it was buried after 1 minute of spam bumps hehehe.

In any case, I hope all of you can share your theories and some remarks on the situation.
7725  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN] 🔥IOU Signature Campaign | Member - Hero | 0.0007 BTC /Post 🔥 on: September 10, 2018, 10:52:16 PM
@Zapo. I'm sorry, but I made a mistake in my starting post count when I applied for this campaign. It should start on 4396, not 4388.
7726  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Ethereum (ETH) Continues To Underperform on: September 10, 2018, 02:16:49 AM
I offer a 3rd theory.

EOS, which has massed $4 billion from their year long ICO, are liquidating their ETH to buy USDT and bitcoins, which also causes the USDT issuer to issue more because of high demand. In time once all the ETH the EOS team is holding have been liquidated, they will move to step 2. Pump EOS from the billions in USDT and bitcoin they control and make EOS the 2nd most valuable cryptocoin.

Where can I download an easy to use EOS wallet? hehehehe.

Ethereum’s dismal performance has led some to ask what is causing such a drastic sell-off. At the time of writing, there currently are two primary theories that attempt to explain why the price of Ether is tumbling.

First, the introduction of a new BitMEX ETH perpetual swap contract, which allowed traders to short the price of ETH with up to 100x leverage in a similar manner to the XBT (BTC) BitMEX contract. As pointed out by Cryptoeazy on Twitter, since the arrival of the perpetual contract in early August, the price of Ether has fallen by 57%.

Although this hasn’t been confirmed, this statistic has led some to speculate that the arrival of the contract allowed pessimistic traders to weigh down on the price of ETH. Twitter user CryptoBat wrote: “Bitmex is the worst thing that has happened to ETH.”

Secondly but not least is the ICO sell-off factor, with many claiming that projects have begun to liquidate their war chests, which are often full of Ether, into fiat, leading to the current collapse of the market, not only ETH. As per data from Santiment, a foremost crypto analytics provider, projects have spent over 100,000 ETH in the past week, likely selling their holdings on exchanges en-masse, logically leading to a market drop like the one seen this week.

7727  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Game of Thrones - Who will rule? Odds and betting discussion [Odds updated!] on: September 10, 2018, 01:59:17 AM
@pitiflin. The multiple scenarios story might only be a bluff, I reckon. What do the writers have to continue doing from season 7 to the final season? There is only way, no more politics and drama.

Also, the dates might be revealed on winter hehe.
The actors have apparently said that multiple scenarios have been shot, but Massie Williams did tell in a talk show that she knows the ending of GoT.

I read an article recently and GoT is more likely to be released after May 2019 and not before that. We still have a LONG way to go.

Jon snow - Don't hate me, but he got his fame for couple of seasons now. He also died once and as much drama this series brings, I guess his head will be cut off - rip Jon Snow Cry
Tyrion Lannister - Everyone I know who watches the series likes him. Therefore for the sake of surprise he won't be the ruler, nor he will die either. Probably hides in a wine cellar for the rest of his life Cool
Sansa Stark - Has gone through a lot. In case she would be the chosen one, she would hand it over to Arya - 100%.

The ruler:
Daenarys Targaryen - Too obvious? But she got those dragons Cheesy If anyone plays Counter-Strike, it's just too over powered like CZ
The Night King - This can't be happening, right? Huh
Arya Stark - Her story has been building for a long time, just like Jon Snow's. Now it's her time to shine Wink

Cheers,
Karl on a lunch break
A possible outcome could be Danaerys's child, and Tyrion to be their mentor.

Arya definitely won't be the Ruler, she'll probably go back to the Faceless men after the War between the whitewalkers and humans.

Danaerys mostly won't survive till the end.

Yes there might be multiple scenarios but nothing that would largely alter the ending, I reckon. What in the story else is there to tell?

@Bitcoincasino.io. Watch the season 8 leaks in the Talkingthrones channel in Youtube. It will change your prediction hehehe.

@pitiflin - I could live with that, Tyrion has shown his abilities Cool

@bbc.reporter - Watched couple of them... not sure what to think or believe anymore.
In a way I expect big surprises, but then again someone mentioned earlier that it will be just full blown action for 6 episodes Grin

Cheers,
Karl

But they were very well made and appeared to be almost like the real storyboards. In any case, everyone should watch all 8 of them then post all your analysis. It might help us choose the right answer and win the bet hehehe.
7728  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Hits $24,000 in Iran on: September 10, 2018, 01:32:23 AM
@bitfocus. I am so very impressed in Tom Lee's trading analytic mind and his technical abilities in predicting bitcoin's price. Someone should inform him in social media about this and let him tell everyone I told you so hehehe.
7729  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-09-09] A Billion People Will Be Using Crypto in 5 Years: Brian Armstrong on: September 10, 2018, 01:24:36 AM
Yes a billion people more pulled into the cryptospace to be tricked, scammed and broken after they lose everything. But some people will make it alive hopefully hehehe. The world's markets always end with winners and losers and the cryptomarket is no different. Everything is fair and everyone is fair game hehe.

Also, the cryptospace is already becoming cyclical like a traditional economy, I reckon. If you lose money now, you have a chance to make it in the next cycle.

7730  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-09-10] Goldman Sachs Plans to Launch Bitcoin Derivative on: September 10, 2018, 01:05:25 AM
Is Goldman Sachs' Martin Chavez correct in saying that there are no industrial grade custodial solution for bitcoin? The article also mentioned Xapo, Bitgo and Coinbase to be those solutions, but I reckon it might be more advisable if Goldman Sachs hire developers and build their own private solution.

In any case, if they hire me, I will teach them how to use Electrum hehehe.

It would be much better for Bitcoin, and much more groundbreaking, if the product Goldman Sachs plans to launch uses physical Bitcoins. However, Martin Chavez says “Physical bitcoin is something tremendously interesting, and tremendously challenging. From the perspective of custody, we don’t yet see an institutional-grade custodial solution for bitcoin, we’re interested in having that exist and it’s a long road”.

7731  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Pre-Season on: September 08, 2018, 01:46:41 AM
Lebron signed for the Lakers because of his frustration on his last 2 years in his return to the Cavaliers, I reckon. This is the same as the time he signed to the Miami Heat. It is a decision of making the championship again, a decision for money and it might also be a decision for his own personal happiness, or his family's happiness.

7732  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 228: Woodley vs Till Info and Prediction Thread on: September 08, 2018, 01:35:09 AM
@tokeweed. Do not be disappointed but Darren Till has made the weight hehehe. He also does not look dehaydrated and he appears to be more assured of himself in the face off.

Also, the women's flyweight championship was cancelled because of medical reasons for Nicco Montańo. There is always a fight cancellation in the UFC hehehe.

No one should be surprised by this that its what will happen eventually. Any business that will still want to stay relevant in the crypto world, will have to either fall in line or stop its services because it will soon be swimming in the pool of fines while the directors are looking at jail times that their lawyers will even advise them to accept plea bargain to get a reduce sentence. Thats how far and powerful the institution called government is.

The governments are finally forcing cryptocurrency exchanges to comply with their needs if not then face certain charges. where is our freedom then? the decentralized world with full privacy that we know it is becoming more centralized than ever, as people were asked to give out their personal information on exchanges today in order to perform certain operations. Angry

Your freedom? What of their freedom? Shapeshift made a very hard decision to do something that was against their original vision to avoid going to prison. I reckon if you were businessman who was thrown in a similar situation, you too would do what Shapeshift did.

It was your freedom or save the business. A very easy decision for Erik Vorhees, I reckon hehehe.

7734  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-09-07] Coinbase Eyes ETF With Help From BlackRock on: September 08, 2018, 12:49:18 AM
@gentlemand. It has now become part of bitcoin politics to dislike bitcoin so that the people on the other side of the squabble could start pressuring the developers to do their demands.

But I reckon that Brian Armstrong has not been as loud politically recently.

@Slow death. Might that be Coinbase's plan of a pump and dump?
7735  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: September 07, 2018, 02:06:42 AM
@estenity. No, that does not happen anymore since last year. There was a long time that Aeon was always about 10% of Monero's price. But Aeon has not followed Monero after its Alphabay pump and I reckon it will never follow it again. We might become bagholders of a forgotten coin hehehe.
7736  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 228: Woodley vs Till Info and Prediction Thread on: September 07, 2018, 01:54:08 AM
Well Thompson the "Gorilla" had return to defend his title, This is a superb fight as the challenger will surely have a match fight with an even odds with both have losses, But I really think that the champion here had the upper hand because of his massive body, But let's just see if it will be the case, If there will be an advantage with Woodley with his massive body, Explosive power, And  a remarkable takedown defense, or Till that has a long reach and athletic body to fight the champion, Well I can't wait to see the match up!

Who is Thompson the Gorilla? If you are talking about Tyron Woodley then be careful. You might be branded as a racist hehe. Also, Darren Till uses the moniker Gorilla.

In any case, Dana's storyboard for Darren might be, win the welterweight championship, then challenge Robert Whitaker for his middleweight belt.
7737  Economy / Speculation / Re: Banned dude projects Bitcoin bounce maybe to $10k, then renewed decline to $4600 on: September 07, 2018, 01:46:04 AM
@Traxo. How reliable would your analysis be if it was compared to a real trader's analysis, like Tom Lee's $20,000 by the end of 2018 prediction?

We have witnessed many random people come and try but not one of them has predicted the market reliably.
7738  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-09-07] Coinbase Eyes ETF With Help From BlackRock on: September 07, 2018, 01:24:56 AM
ETF watchers who are fixated that this might cause bitcoin's redemption from the low price of $6000 should be happy again hehehe. I reckon Coinbase might have the right connections to get this one through and supported by a company that manages trillions of dollars, no less. Shocked

As reported by Business Insider, the cryptocurrency exchange provider has been liaising with BlackRock, a U.S. investment management company with some $6 trillion in assets under its purview. Individuals close with the matter said that Coinbase has sought guidance from BlackRock’s blockchain working group.

While Coinbase spoke directly with employees involved with BlackRock’s blockchain arm, the exchange is after the organization’s expertise in legacy markets. The firm has made a name for itself with its focus on hedge funds and ETFs; iShares, its most popular suite of ETFs, for instance, accounted for $1.41 trillion of BlackRock’s assets under management in 2017.

If Coinbase actually moves forward with an ETF filing, the product would flesh out the exchange monolith’s institutional-grade offerings, which include custody and index fund services for accredited investors.

But the ETF would need to get approved first. What’s more, Coinbase isn’t the only runner in the race. Currently, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s top ranking officials are reviewing nine bitcoin ETFs that were rejected at the staffing level earlier this summer.

7739  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-09-04] Roger Ver and Jimmy Song to Debate Bitcoin on Blockchain Cruise on: September 07, 2018, 12:59:38 AM
Here's how you win against Roger Ver -- you watch his previous "debates" and list out his talking points.

He sticks to the same ones, regardless of where the actual topic starts.

He also is technically incompetent, so if you point out a flaw and he can't counter - instant points to you. The moment Ver is losing however, he usually reverts to the "Hallowed satoshi paper" as his defense. Its simplistic ideological smokescreen to get out of tight spots.

So in short, if you slam him with technical reasons, he doesn't have a leg to stand on -- and I'm talking more than just the usual mantra he spouts about "big blocks are better".

For instance, abstracting any of these arguments would absolutely floor him -- https://medium.com/@melik_87377/lightning-network-enables-unicast-transactions-in-bitcoin-lightning-is-bitcoins-tcp-ip-stack-8ec1d42c14f5

Or any of the scaling points made here -- (title says Ethereum but it also matters to Bcash) -- https://hackernoon.com/the-ethereum-blockchain-size-has-exceeded-1tb-and-yes-its-an-issue-2b650b5f4f62

But I doubt anyone will prepare enough to take Roger Ver down, only because his own incompetence and idiocy is doing it for us. Being surrounded by a pack of liars and con-men have become a greater liability than Ver realized, and the outcome is hilarious.

The only way to win versus a liar and a sociopath is to ignore them. I am not certain why Jimmy Song wanted to waste his time and give Roger some media exposure by engaging to this challenge.

Week 4 has ended!
Hello everyone, payments for week 4 have been sent in this transaction . Have enough funds for another week, but should be getting another 1.1 BTC in escrow since the team is going on the blockchain cruise.

Nothing to change with the rules/participants.

Questions are welcome!
