Hi guys
Would it be okay to run 3 1080 ti and 4 1070 with only 1600w PSU (supernova P2)?
it looks like it come out to about 1506w TDP combined including other components

Depends on the models but most aftermarket 1080 Ti's are using 300 watts and 1070s pulling 180. That puts you at 1620 wats max plus 70-100 watts for the rest of the components so ~1700.

I'd not advise going above 80-90% on any PSU, not even on top quality monsters like EVGA 1600W P2.

So I would set the power limit on all cards to ~about 80-85%.

What's the difference between using this and using a simple loop in a batch file:

:loop
miner.exe ...
timeout -t 20
goto loop

When the miner crashes this will restat it after 20 seconds. Monitoring GPU usage would be better as it would also trigger in case of a crash or server disconnect.

this doesnt work with EWBF Zec miner, as I wrote in his topic...

Yeah, but nor does this tool. Which is why I said a GPU usage tracking restart logic would be better. But ow do you easily check GPU usage for both AMD and nvidia cards?

Also, I have never had EWBF just do 0 sols. My problem is that I often get disconnected from the pool or not even connected when starting the miner and it just quits, there's no reconnect feature.

0 sols sounds like cards crashing because of too high overclock maybe.
783  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Who uses an extension cord for their rigs? on: June 18, 2017, 06:59:56 PM
Just get the thickest cords you can and forget about it. With thin cords you'll both lose voltage over distance and if its getting close to the limit it will heat up which is both wasting electricity and can be dangerous.

And DO NOT coil the cords if they're too long.

I used 1.5mm (15awg) extensions cords rated for 3680 watts (16A, 230V) over about 50 meters and they got 60-70°C under constant load of about 2800-3000 watts and had a major voltage drop at the end.

I replaced them with 4mm (6 awg) cords and there's no voltage drop at all and they're super cool.

Pointless to try get the bare minimum that works. Instead just get one better and be safe.

People really don't give a fuck anymore, do they?

4 pages about a massively premined shitcoin which should have been ignored.

786  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many cryptocurrency wallets do you have? on: June 17, 2017, 10:36:27 AM
234 different -qt.exe files. Almost all of them are for PoW coins and I mined some coins to most of them.

I only use like 10-15% of it though. Most of them are very old wallets of old coins and even some broken or malware infected ones.
787  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CC Miner - Mining pools with multiple coins (merged mining?) on: June 17, 2017, 12:53:34 AM
Merge mining has to be supported by both coins, otherwise you can't just mine two coins at the same time (with full speed).
788  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The biggest thing in crypto is owned by morons!! on: June 16, 2017, 04:42:25 PM
I asked several questions and got no answers and when I pointed out facts (like ICO = premine or that it's a terrible investment) I got called stupid without explanation.

I certainly not going to read the whole thread and there's no whitepaper but based on the ANN thread, none of my claims were incorrect as far as I can see.

PIVX.

Edit: After Bitcoin of course.
790  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ahoolee presale - first search engine for online shopping! on: June 16, 2017, 08:36:30 AM
A good concept but why such a huge fund raiser is required for a product search engine?Your website mention Google,Facebook, bitcointalk creation years and compare it with Ahoolee in 2017 but these sites you mentioned never raised funds before their creation

It's a blatant scam attempt.

Google already does what OP claims to develop as you can search for products across thousands of retailers you just have to add the word "buy" into your query.

For example searching for "buy bitcoin logo socks" results in a shop with:

And there are already existing sites that search for what you want across multiple shops.

And using a separate search engine for buying stuff takes literally the same effort as using google and going to the source shop.

And other than the top shops like amazon or ebay, plenty of the small and middle ones don't follow their own stock closely so it might say they have 10 of an item in stock while they have none. And small shops might tell you they have everything in stock while they don't even have a warehouse, they just order what you order and after the wait they ship it to you for extra. Or just use fake prices to lure customer. Shops like this would spam a shopping exclusive search engine.

A service like this doesn't need its own token, nor should it ask for trucks of money. Yet even the pre-ICO for the main ICO seem to have an ICO.

And the name is even more ridiculous than google.
Main advantages of Ahoolee.com:
1. No products catalog - just search string;
2. automate parsing of all online shops on the internet;
3. product matching of products from different shops to one product card;
4. decentralized parsing, all prices store in blockchain (imagine all prices and price changes are open for all users);
5. products sell for AHC.

We think that there is no such project on the internet, don't you agree with us?

There's no need for such a service. Going to Aloohee.com or whatever and searching for a product would take the same effort to using google to get what you need and going to the source shop.

And it won't work. It will be a mess filled with false info and ignoring information like possibility of shipping to an address, warranty, coupons, etc.

And even if it would work, there's no reason to ask for so much money. It's bullshit.
791  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sonm hacked on slack !!!!!!!!!!!!! on: June 15, 2017, 11:37:02 PM
finally someone that agrees and can see some sense. surely sonm should be giving me my 43 eth back. the transaction is there from my wallet showing it as proof. sonm should take responsability and give me my 43 ether.

Or at least they should give you tokens as if you bought from them since you know, they pulled their tokens out of thin air for free.
792  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Home server for multiple coin staking on: June 15, 2017, 11:31:28 PM
I just checked the used/second hand laptops here, they are basically the same as I have E6410 (1st gen i5)with more or less ram/ssd, for about 450$ you can get a 3rd gen i5 with 250ssd and that is quite expensive for such old hardware so if you think a laptop can handle it, will put an SSD in mine and get 4gb more ram. I'm not used to linux but you think it's better than using win7? (not gonna go for win10) if so, what distro you recommend for such simple task ? Currently I'm thinking to use it for about 4-5 normal wallet staking and 2-3 masternode hosting.

I use win7x64 on all my machines.

If you get an SSD you should increase the pagefile so in case you don't have enough ram it swaps it to the otherwise fast SSD.

And of course always have backups that are not on your laptop just in case.
793  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Home server for multiple coin staking on: June 15, 2017, 11:19:26 PM
Staking isn't demanding at all. Other than using a lot of memory it's just a bit of CPU usage and some HDD read/write here and there - unless a wallet is awfully buggy.

It's light use like browsing facebook so any laptop should handle it 0-24. They shouldn't even get hot. I mean people are using Raspberry Pi's to stake and they can handle it.
794  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: All this talk about "mining specific" GPU's on: June 15, 2017, 10:41:19 PM
These are my thoughts and a message to GPU Manufacturers:

GPU Manufacturers believe that they can stop miners from buying GPU's they want in the hands of Gamers by creating mining specific cards.

This is a great concept but there is one problem with this. GPU Manufacturers don't understand what miners want in a "mining" GPU.

GPU Manufacturers believe that they can pass off cheaper graphics cards that they produce without the "extras" built in for Gamers that miners don't need. In addition to this GPU manufactures believe they can pass off lower quality hardware at this reduced cost and get away with it by only offering a 3 month warranty for "mining".

The problem with this idea is that GPU manufacturers fundamentally don't understand miners or the mining community.

GPU Miners buy GPU's of value for mining but they also buy them knowing that they can resell them later and get some sort of return. If you turn a GPU into an "Asic Miner" that after a few generations doesn't hash at a rate that produces enough profits, just like old Antminer S1's and S3's, it becomes basically worthless at that point to anyone except a miner that can mine with it and still make a profit.

I ask this question of GPU Manufacturers: Why would any GPU miner want to buy a "mining" specific GPU that they know they are just going to probably throw away some day instead of resell to some gamer out there that might want it at a reduced cost?

Examples of things I would want in a "Mining" specific GPU - Better cooling options, more robust fans, High hardware durability testing, dust preventative designs, measures, coatings, etc., Dual Bios capability on all mining cards, unlocked voltage controls, mining specific driver support, bios customization support.

GPU Manufacturers: You bring something with the stuff I listed above to market, you'll really deliver something that miners would want and many miners would buy.

Unfortunately with what information is being leaked out so far, it looks like you're trying to pass off your low quality asics and lesser cost GPU designs as "mining" specific cards.

This simply will not do and I for one will just keep buying up your regular GPU's until there is a time that you deliver a "mining" specific GPU that really puts "Mining with a GPU" first.

My statement to any GPU Manufacturer that might be reading this: If you're going to make "mining" specific GPU's, you better bring something to the table that a miner would want. Otherwise, Miners like me are just going to pay a little more and keep buying up the GPU's you want to be in the hands of Gamers.

Of course they don't understand miners, it's clear.

But I highly doubt the want to stop miners using their hardware. A sale is a sale and rarely any GPU dies in the hands of (not braindead) miners nowadays.

"bios customization support"

That will never happen.

And realistically, the success of GPU mining stems from everyone having GPUs. If, in a few years cheap mining-only GPUs push regular GPUs out of the mining market then we'll have the same centralized nonsense as with ASICs.

I hope they give up on their mining specific cards idea.
795  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What are YOU buying RIGHT NOW!! 6-15-2017 on: June 15, 2017, 10:35:40 PM
Absolutely nothing.
796  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Home server for multiple coin staking on: June 15, 2017, 10:34:53 PM
Forget servers, buy a used laptop instead. That way you have a built in UPS in the form of the battery for uninterrupted staking.

For staking HDD is fine, but with a bunch of wallets you might want an SSD.

Just a qucik example:

Refurbished HP Laptop EliteBook 2560P Intel Core i7 2nd Gen 2620M (2.70 GHz) 16 GB Memory 256 GB SSD Intel HD Graphics 3000 12.5" Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit - $381 on newegg (link).

At least this is what I would do if I didn't have a UPS already.

Who would buy that trash? Walmarts got Skylake i5 (8gb) and i7 (12gb) laptops on clearance for $200-300.  Even lower end ones for $79.

I'm not familiar with laptop prices, it was just a quick search. Regardless, you reinforced my point.
797  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Future of the ICO Ecosystem on: June 15, 2017, 10:33:43 PM
ICOs are like scratch tickets, regardless of having a new idea behind them; they're shiny, offer the posibility of quick profits and they only really make money for the issuing company.

And people don't care about the math behind them, they just blindly buy them if they like the cover.
798  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Low diffculty coins with the Quark algorithm? on: June 15, 2017, 10:26:04 PM
Quark is ASIC territory so in case you're looking to mine it with GPUs, don't.

Otherwise try Joincoin.
799  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about SONM on: June 15, 2017, 10:19:25 PM
This is what you get when you throw money at a coin with centralized initial distribution (aka ICO). Using slack to do it is another stupid move.

Absolutely no aspect of a coin should be centralized.
