781  Economy / Speculation / Re: Take your eyes off from the fall in price on: September 07, 2023, 01:05:56 AM
I have been around for a long time and I can say that I have seen worse crashes and this doesn't phase me at all. This is normal and people should not be overreacting to it as much as they are doing right now. I get that it is not that simple and we should be considering that as a deal, but as long as it exists, we shouldn't really be making a big deal out of it.

I get that life is not that simple and we could see it change sometime soon but as long as we trust it, we are going to end up with a great profit eventually. Just give it some time, it should exist and I think it would be a lot better for the long term. I get that it would be good, and I get that it would be simple, just hold it and you will get there in time.

If you are old in this market, you already know that these crashes near the pre and post bitcoin halving are temporary and the price will move up in the mid to long term. But for a new investor, who recently invested in bitcoin, these crashes could be a reason to sell of their bitcoin to save their capital. They do not see the long term picture and later when bitcoin again pumps, they start to regret it.

We, the experienced ones, know that whales and institutions move the Bitcoin price down in order for them to accumulate more. But at the same time, they also do this in order to eliminate the weak hands and keep them out before entering the real bull phase.
782  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Usb Encryption on: September 07, 2023, 12:43:05 AM
I write my electrum private seed on the piece of paper and save it with me but i fear that someone near to me may read that paper and get access to the wallet. So i copied the wallet file on my usb and also write the seed in notepad in that usb. Now i want to password protect that usb or encrypt it so if anyone tries to access that usb, he can never open and read it contents.  How to do this ?

I have a better more secure solution for this. Since you want to copy your wallet files in your USB and then encrypt that USB so no one can access it. But if you connect your USB with a malware affected computer and copy it is connected to the internet, then you are not 100% sure that your wallet files were not compromised while copying this data on your USB. Even though the chance may be very slim but since we are dealing with our money, we should be 100% sure about it.

A better way is to install a USB operating system on your USB drive, like tails OS and then create an offline Electrum Wallet there and transfer your funds in that wallet. Make your the wifi option is disabled in tails OS and there will be no chance of your seed phrase or wallet file getting compromised or affected by any malware.
783  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto or Real estate on: September 07, 2023, 12:29:08 AM
Cryptocurrency: You can buy it for a small amount of money and many people can afford it
Real estate: You have to have a lot of money to buy it and only a few people can afford it.
Which do you prefer?
If it were me, I would prefer cryptocurrency.
I can have more investments in crypto while I can't buy real estate yet.

Even if someone has the resources and money to buy the real estate, he should think twice about it. Real estate was a good investment a decade ago but now the world situation is unrest. The Ukraine Russia War, the China-US tension and the increasing floods/earth quake in recent times have made real estate a risky investment.

We all know that if there is any hint of a world war, people wouldn't be buying the properties, and we could see a selloff pressure in the real estate industry.

Bitcoin, on the other hand, might prove to be a very handy and store of value in these uncertain times.
784  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Updated] FTX on: September 04, 2023, 02:44:15 AM
They had recently used a collateral fund of BUSDC if I can remember correctly. There was news that more than $3 billion of their BUSDC has remained without any collateral which was supposed to be backed by USDC. This isn't fair if true of course. It's alarming but it's not affecting because it's Binance.

Before the FTX crash, nothing was affecting too as everyone knew that SAM would take his exchange to the level up from Binance CZ. Also everyone thought that FTX would become the number 2 exchange after binance and people were blindly trusting FTX.

Same goes for Binance, as people close their eyes on everything as they trust Binance blindly. It is only a matter of time when they all will be shocked to see their beloved exchange ditching them.
785  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Free Withdrawals Exchanges on: September 04, 2023, 01:55:40 AM
Yep, that was their tactic to get as much users as possible and we all know how that ended up so I am not sure I would use any new exchange in the future that has completely free withdrawals. You know what they say, "If something is free, you're the product".

So you mean that this FTX Scam was planned years before when Sam Bankman Fried, the founder of FTX launched the exchange with free withdrawals?
I just can't imagine how people think and plan to scam people while if they spend the same energies in a positive way, people like SAM could make exchanges / products even better than Binance. But unfortunately, they opt the wrong way.

so I am not sure I would use any new exchange in the future that has completely free withdrawals. You know what they say, "If something is free, you're the product".

Yeah, but now we have become intelligent with experience and can use the free product intelligently. Don't keep the funds on the free withdrawal exchanges but only move a certain amount of funds if you want to pay to a few different people and avoid the fee. There can be many use cases for the free withdrawal exchange.
786  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Problem with importing crtypto wallet on: September 04, 2023, 01:20:37 AM
I imported my blockchain.info wallet to a electrum wallet and then imported  the private key to a guardia wallet and know i found my self  with the same amount in each wallet (blockchain, electrum and Guardia) could you please tell me what to do to quit  the other wallets and keep the funds stored in only one wallet (Guardia wallet).

You need to know that your bitcoins are not stored in any wallet, they are stored on blockchain. So if you import your seed to different wallets you will see the same amount of bitcoin in each wallet.

Also if you download many wallets on your system and  import the same seed on those wallets, it will increase your risk as all those wallets store the wallet (seed) information on your system.

I would suggest that you make a new wallet and send your funds to that new wallet. Now all your previous wallets will have zero balance and you do not have to worry about those old wallets as even if they become compromised, they will be empty.
787  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Wallet RBF Feature on: September 03, 2023, 08:29:11 AM
Another query that it is better to use small inputs in different addresses of the wallet as compare to  receiving the inputs on the same wallet address ?

It does not matter, because once you collected small inputs on a single address or multiple addresses, you will have to pay a higher fee when spending them or consolidating them.

If you receive those small outputs in the same address, in addition to wasting money, you may harm your privacy too.

Apart from the privacy factor, if we receive inputs in multiple addresses, we can use the feature of coin control in electrum, especially useful when we need to spend small amounts.
788  Other / Meta / Bitcointalk was down on: September 03, 2023, 06:21:24 AM
Bitcointalk was down for around 10 mins or so. Did anyone noticed?  Any reasons, Server glitches or DDOS attack  Huh

I also confirmed from downforeveryoneorjustme to be sure the problem was not at my end.

789  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Mining fees as popularity of bitcoin rises on: September 03, 2023, 05:14:14 AM
@Findingnemo,

Yes, consolidate my smaller inputs whilst keeping my privacy.  Will check the link you gave.

When consolidating your inputs, make sure you use a fee that gets confirmed. As you said, mining fees are increasing, usually a very low fee can keep your transaction unconfirmed for a long long period, so be aware of what exactly you want to do.

Just to give you an idea, if you put 8 sat/byte, it will take more than 1000 blocks to confirm, so if you put 7 or 6 sat/byte as the fee, you may have to wait a lot longer.

790  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your options to having privacy in Bitcoin - and their tradeoffs on: September 03, 2023, 12:54:36 AM
Great thread @BlackHatCoiner! ....

I just want to know if you see the anonymous (decentralized) casinos as another method to secure your financial privacy? There are still some casinos out there that supports pseudo anonymity, but I will not push large amounts of coins through them.

People can still "mix" their coins through these casinos, until they start asking for KYC verification. Just make sure these casinos are not scams and that you can actually withdraw from them. (They start with no KYC requirements, but eventually bend the knee to law enforcement)  Roll Eyes

I would not recommend this method at all because this is the most risky. Although some casinos may let you deposit and withdraw without KYC but they will never let you withdraw unless or until you wager the whole balance. So now you have to first gamble the money, and you can lose everything in the process.

If you want to do this centralized way, better use the non kyc exchanges to send the bitcoin and withdraw in chucks in different btc addresses. Although a less effective method as compared to the methods listed in OP but still at least does not have a risk of losing money like in a casino.
791  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Mixing coins through exchanges on: September 02, 2023, 07:11:06 PM
That's not mixing. Sending TC wallet from one wallet to another and then from that wallet to another and then finally to the destination wallet. These transactions can be easily tracked even by a newbie like me. A simple understating and usage of explorers can get you track.

From track means they can find your source wallet from where you made a transaction. To avoid the tracking of source wallet, you should prefer to use mixers or wallets that have the feature of coinjoin. Even many hardware wallets have coinjoin feature. If you do not know what is coinjoin, then its means that joining/mixing coins so that no one could track the source wallet address.

If you send a transaction from one wallet to another and then from that wallet to the third wallet, everything is being seen transparently on bitcoin blockchain however here we are putting the exchange address in between. This means that the OP will send his bitcoins to the exchange. You can verify from blockchain that he send the bitcoin to an exchange address. However, when he will withdraw bitcoin to another address, the exchange will not use his address as a source, so the connection of his source address will be broken and there is no way to link the source address of the OP to the new address where he send his bitcoin from the exchange.

In the case, which OP mentioned, the reason for this mixing is only personal (and not to hide coins from government / financial sector), the exchange can fulfill his requirements.
792  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} on: September 02, 2023, 04:34:27 PM
I currently have 0.33.3 version and the only issue which i face is the syncing of the wallet. It takes a lot of time in synchronization. If you do not open wallet daily and open after a few days/weeks it takes considerable time. Specially the ZEC blockchain on my phone is still downloading the blocks on this wallet  Sad

Has this sync issue been addressed in this release, and should i update my wallet?

Not sure if things have changed since 0.33.3, but I don't believe so since there's nothing on the released page and this is the latest post I found from the team regarding this issue[1]. Apparently, there's nothing much they can do about it.

Do you know any other wallets that are faster? if so, maybe you should send them its name as they asked, that might help them.

[1] https://github.com/horizontalsystems/unstoppable-wallet-android/issues/6057#issuecomment-1529504444

I was using trust wallet before and there were no sync issues there for most of the coins which i had there in that wallet. It was after that FTX hack and this theymos post Reminder: do not keep your money in online accounts, i stopped believing the exchanges and moved my funds to the Electrum and Unstoppable wallet.

That post is specifically asking for the ZEC wallet which sync real time and i had no idea of it because before that all my ZEC were on the binance exchange.

Has this sync issue been addressed in this release, and should i update my wallet?
I am using version 0.34.0 which is the latest version. I still notice the synching issue. Not often, but if I do not open the wallet for sometimes or a long time.

Well, this sync probelm is not a big deal, the real problem comes if you have multiple wallets on Unstoppable wallet and you have to open each wallet to get it sync. Would it be better if the unstoppable wallet could sync all the wallets at same time.
793  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} on: September 02, 2023, 04:06:16 PM
So the 0.34.0 is now out. I was expecting more than this, but still, good features to have (the ones ones)[1]:

794  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Exchanges which allow deposit/withdrawal without KYC on: September 02, 2023, 02:07:04 PM
I would like to give one advice here that if you want to use these exchanges for big fund than most of the time these exchanges seized your fund and ask for KYC to withdraw. My friend experience such kind of situation with Mexc where he deposited 5000$ but mexc seized withdraw and asked for KYC so always be careful with this.

Isn't it strange as Mexc exchange claims that they allow up to 30 BTC without KYC withdrawals but here they are asking for the KYC for mere 5,000? So what was the end result of that case ? Was he able to withdraw after doing the KYC or did the exchange never approved their KYC? (as it happens often in order to scam people for money).

I would be careful now to send money to non-KYC exchanges, It is better to do the KYC than to lose our money  Huh
795  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Cold Wallet Myth on: September 01, 2023, 04:48:09 AM
I am testing out making a tail OS through USB and then using electrum through it. This can be a cost effective and better solution rather than making a computer or a mobile an air-gapped device. With tail OS, the Electrum wallet comes by default and there is no need to install any more softwares. Secondly, you can keep save that USB like you save a hardware wallet.

Since i do not have any extra system with me right now to meet this emergency, is the tails USB with the built-in electrum can be trusted?

Better learn how to setup before doing it on your own or else you may end up either setting the wallet incorrectly or losing your bitcoins.

I would advise you to first watch these three tutorials to have a basic understanding. Although these are a bit old, but they will give you an idea of what you are going to do.

796  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: New Wallet for Crypto Gaming and Gamers on: September 01, 2023, 02:14:26 AM
There is another feature some of the crypto gamers are asking is multi-chain support. Currently, crypto gamers are using different wallets while playing different games. I am planning to unify all those wallets into a single one. That will make their lives easier.

Well, there are already a few multi chain support wallets, the most popular ones being trust wallet (closed source) and Unstoppable Wallet (open source). Don't understand when you mean when you say that you want to unify all those into the single wallet, perhaps develop a wallet integrating features of all the wallets?

Do we really need to have special wallets for gamers, musicians, divers, gravediggers, construction workers and all other professions?

Haha, this will be a new narrative in the market to develop clone wallets, and name different use cases for them and earn money.
We don't have different bank accounts for different professions.  Cool
797  Other / Archival / Re: WasabiWallet.io | Open-source, non-custodial Bitcoin Wallet for desktop on: September 01, 2023, 01:19:46 AM
Either way, although I'll continue to point out to other users in this thread all the reasons they should avoid Wasabi, there is no point continuing to argue with Kruw.

WARNING!  AFTER PREVIOUSLY SCAMMING MILLIONS WITH "CHIPMIXER", o_e_l_e_o IS BACK ON THE THREAD TO TRICK USERS INTO HAVING THEIR COINS TRACKED AND STOLEN BY HIS NEW SCAM "[banned mixer]"!!!

I don't know what's going on here but wait, if chipmixer service is down, why "o_e_l_e_o" is to be blamed ?
And again if anything goes wrong at Mixtum why are you putting a blame on him ? He has nothing to do in all this.

Their hypocrisy is disgusting.

WARNING!  AFTER PREVIOUSLY SCAMMING BITCOINTALK USERS WITH THE "WHIRLWIND.MONEY MIXING SERVICE", BlackHatCoiner IS BACK ON THE THREAD TO TRICK USERS INTO HAVING THEIR COINS TRACKED AND STOLEN BY HIS NEW SCAM "[banned mixer]"!!!

And here you are saying that any issues at ""WHIRLWIND.MONEY", the responsible person is BlackHatCoiner ?
Why ? How  Huh
798  Economy / Services / Re: Cheapest Way to mix the coins on: August 31, 2023, 12:12:38 PM
I used Shift.ai   and  fixedfloat.com/ for maximum 100$ some weeks ago  and I recieved instantly but i will not recommend it for you as it poses risk.

OP is looking for a cheap solution and i don't think that instant exchanges are cheap to swap the coins. In fact, most of them offer the most expensive swaps. And they are all centralized, meaning that even if OP manage to find a cheap swap exchange, they may not send the coin back and scam.

By the way, all solutions come with a price and we need to understand that we need to pay in order to get a service. If there is no price, still we are the product ourselves.
799  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Cold Wallet Myth on: August 31, 2023, 08:37:40 AM
I think you do not get my point of view, I just want to know that in an IDEAL WORLD, the Electrum wallet on the computer with an internet connection is safe if there is no Malwares, no hacker's attempt etc

There is no ideal world, it is only your mind that thinks that your computer is malware free and the other 99% of the users also believe the same. And then when they lose their crypto, they have no idea what went wrong.

You aren't sure. No one is sure. Have you disassembled and intricately examined every piece of hardware in your computer to check for backdoors? Have you read every line of code for every piece of software running your computer, from your BIOS and OS through to your wallet software? Are you examining every incoming and outgoing packet across your internet connect to check for malware or data being leaked? Of course not. Therefore you have no idea if there are vulnerabilities in your system.

This is the whole point of a permanently airgapped device. It is impossible to have a completely secure system connected to the internet, but you can mitigate a lot of possible attack vectors simple by airgapping your device permanently.

800  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What happened to Coinomi? on: August 31, 2023, 03:32:49 AM
It looks like they've abandoned the project but left some existing servers running.

The first thing which i did after reading your post, was to open my Coinomi wallet on my Android phone, check if I had any little bit of balance in that wallet, find none and uninstalled it.

In my early bitcoin days, I used to download any wallet I heard was good and sometimes also transfer Bitcoin/altcoin to them. This is not a good approach as it is very difficult to keep track of all the wallet updates if you have many wallets with you. Like in this case, Coinomi stopped upgrading the wallet and you never know they may close the service one day.
