784  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: What level of air filtration do u use for your bitcoin miners? on: November 27, 2017, 01:10:25 PM
Absolutely no filtration. I plan to blow it out with an air compressor every 6 to 12 months or as needed, which won't be often.

And that is good enough? How do u know u need to use the air can. When the temp is higher than normal?
785  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: What level of air filtration do u use for your bitcoin miners? on: November 25, 2017, 11:55:17 AM

So, wat level of filtration do u use

I want to say MIRV 12 - whatever the "orange framed" ones Walmart sells are.

U mean merv 12? Any pics?
786  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: What level of air filtration do u use for your bitcoin miners? on: November 25, 2017, 11:50:37 AM
You can use the spare current from a 20 amp circuit to run your blower or run it's own circuit. You can hit up craigslist for a household hvac blower and that will move enough air. You could probably use a few layers of air filters on the intake and exhaust to reduce the noise level but these will greatly reduce air flow so you will need a blower that is significantly more powerful than you might think.

You will be building a box shaped tunnel with a few layers of air filters on the front and back. You will need a divider to mount the blower; so you final shape will be more like two boxes with one open side on each and a hole for the blower in between. The open sides are where you will mount the air filters. I suggest something like these with two or more on the intake and exhaust.

Hope that is of help to clear out your air filter

My blower is strong enough af fhe moment and i can still increase its power.

If u use a merv 4 filter followed by a merv 11 filter, would that slow down the airflow alot?
The boxes help hold more dust?

Some are telling me on Reddit they are just getting their Nov. 21-30 batch orders. Means they shipped out earlier without me. Sad. I wonder how you get priority or do they randomize. I ordered pretty quickly.

Still shows unshipped for my 11/21-11/30 S9s - some people might get lucky, I guess.

Weird that you guys haven't gotten yours yet..I've received all of my November orders and I have even received my Dec 1 - 10 orders. Including all of the PSU's that I ordered.

I am jealous  Sad

what country  do you live in?

I live in Oklahoma in the US. I don't know why they are shipping all of my stuff early but I received all of my D3's including the few I ordered from the late November batch and I received them the first week of November. Which is 3 weeks earlier than expected. As for my L3+'s I received all 5 of mine the first week of Nov as well and they also weren't supposed to show up until Nov 20-30th.
My S9's have all shipped for November and I have even received my Dec 1- 10.
I'll post the dates I purchased them below, but just a heads up guys I don't think they follow the "first paid first shipped" process. I've compared with other people before and could not make any sense of their shipping.

S9's
Order placed on 8/23 Shipping was Nov 20-30th and I've received all
Order placed on 9/26 Shipping was Dec 1 -10th and I've already received all of them.

I even paid for my Dec 1-10th orders with a wire transfer..which I had heard that the ones paid via wire were supposed to be shipped last. Like I said, I don't make any sense of it but I'm not complaining. I love bitmain  Grin I've also received all 50 of my PSU's for the Nov batch. I ordered them all separately too, in bundles of 8 and 10's.

4 of my psu orders for november just shipped. I got the email Smiley

Wah, lucky u. I am still waiting for my december ones. Well, it is only late November at the moment. I probably get em soon Smiley
788  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Help - Crazy high transaction fees from Exodus wallet during withdrawal!!! on: November 24, 2017, 05:06:56 AM
It doesn't matter what wallet you use... you have a ton of tiny "dust" inputs... your transaction "data" size is going to be large... fees are in sats PER BYTE or btc PER KILOBYTE.

So, the larger the transaction, the higher the total fee.

You options are:

1. Stop receiving tiny amounts, so when you try to transfer, you don't need a large number of inputs, which makes the transaction data size smaller... which makes the total fee smaller.

2. Export your Exodus seed and import into a wallet that allows you to specify the fee you want and send all your dust with a lower fee rate... transaction is likely to get stuck if you send with a low rate.

3. Continue getting tiny dust payments and pay large fees to move your bitcoins around.

For the record, you CAN import your Exodus seed into Electrum (select BIP39 from the "options"... and leave the derivation path at default of m/44'/0'/0')

I see but how long will my transaction get stuck if so?
789  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: UNDER clock Antminer S9 on: November 23, 2017, 05:56:06 PM
I managed to underclock my autotune 13TH S9 by first upgrading the firmware to the 550MHz fixed frequency firmware.

Thereafter ssh into the miner. edit /config/bmminer.conf and change
Code:
"bitmain-freq" : "475",

Also one can change the directions of both the fans and the miner should reduce fan speed. Do not change the directions before underclocking though, as the miner will overheat.

I tried that on mine and both would go back to auto tuning the frequencies.

Did you successfully install the fixed frequency firmware first? One way to check is if your Miner Configuration page allows selection of "Search Frequency From" 550MHz.

Are u supposed to install that firmware or did u juz do it anyway? It could have bricked the unit?
790  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: What level of air filtration do u use for your bitcoin miners? on: November 23, 2017, 03:05:33 PM
I blow them out when I sell them

Huh, u mean u only clean when u sell them?
U dont do anythin else to stop dust before?

There is not much you can do if your room is not air tight.. You will just minimize it with those filters due to infiltrations of room openings. Most mining rooms are negative pressure due to exhaust system.

 Sure there is.

Filtered air INTAKE and positive pressure design.

If you have POSITIVE pressure in the room infiltration isn't an issue.

I suspect most mining rooms are negative pressure because folks ASSUME that a "gable" type fan can ONLY be used for exhaust (it's what they're designed for, but they CAN be used for intake with proper design and installation).

I do the positive pressure filtered intake more due to MY issues with dust and smoke and such vs for the miners though, especially after last summers massive "smoke from many many forest fires upwind" issues in my area.

So, wat level of filtration do u use

For some odd reason, I got a feeling it is an S9 that we are looking at. It just looks too alike.
The 16TH number on the website could be an S9 plus other unseen miners, say two S5. That adds up to about 16TH right? Does it show it was only 1 machine?
Also, sometimes it just shows a far higher number in the pool on a miner for first couple of mins. Thats the case for me for some miners too.

What u guys think?
793  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: What level of air filtration do u use for your bitcoin miners? on: November 22, 2017, 05:12:34 PM
Reducing dust and crud build-up is an important goal if you're going to be mining for any length of time. When dust builds up in a miner it blocks the heat transfer of course, but also allows airborne grease and oil to become trapped in the miner making a real mess. This acts like a nice little blanket over your chips/fets, sealing in the warm-ness.

These usually show up at my repair facility with burned chips and FETs. Fixable, but a mess.

The real problem of course is when that combination of lint and oil catches fire from an overstressed capacitor shorting plus 4,000 watts of +12v from the monster supply feeding several miners. Then the lack of a Halon system in your mining center becomes an issue....

And then there are the people who run miners in horse barns.......

So, do u use an air filter.
Noted your information.

Mine has only 1 opening and i can put an air filter

What do u use? Currently, I am using polyester air filter at G4 efficiency. I think G4 is the equivalent of MERV 7.
Am I right to say that data centres use MERV 11 level of filter

What air filter level do u use and how often do u clean the dust off your antminer??  Smiley

Sandal, if you read what they said in that article you posted it might give you some more information.  The fact that you are sending something and paying a stupid fee, something seems wrong.  I would definitely contact them, and if they can't get you a better answer, take all your coins out of that exchange and find something better( I personally use coinbase) they only charge about 5 dollars per fee.

http://support.exodus.io/article/71-i-receive-btc-mining-payouts-why-are-the-fees-so-high
From wat i read here. It is the transaction fee.

And from wat i see here, https://live.blockcypher.com/btc/tx/b5707395c7bf59f004de4d769c4646463dcca0d172104912f26c47168f2d476b/
Seems, I really lost it in transaction fees....

Amount Transacted      0.02196893 BTC
Fees                          0.021936 BTC

However, I guess I can still ask exodus.

My transaction fees are high because I received many small transactions for this bitcoin. I really like my mining pool. Problem is my send out fees for this bitcoin is high because it uses more KB data...due to the bitcoin being received from many small transactions.

So, the problem is that the bitcoin is received from many small transactions and not because of exodus??
I hope I can find some kinda special wallet that doesnt have this problem.

I hope other miners become aware of this issue!
799  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Help - Crazy high transaction fees from Exodus wallet during withdrawal!!! on: November 13, 2017, 07:21:02 PM
Have a nice solution for you dont listen to anybody else and dont pay those insane fees..
what i do is using  exchange to ETH than to BTC again you end up paying only 1%
it takes 10 minutes MAX

How do i exchange? To send money out to exchange, it gets used up by network fees and my network fees are very high because I received it from many small transactions
I am trying the exodus internal exchange function but at the moment, for bitcoin, is unavailable... I hope that solves it for me later.

This is the transaction...
https://live.blockcypher.com/btc/tx/b5707395c7bf59f004de4d769c4646463dcca0d172104912f26c47168f2d476b/

kinda crazy, I sent out 60+ usd and got charged a hell about 140 usd.... or so..

Wow that does seem excessively high to transfer such a small amount.

I also have an exodus wallet and noted they recently put up a warning about high fees for btc transaction.

The thing to do would be to convert the btc to eth or dash and send them.

I'm only keeping btc on exodus  to buy some eos when the price drops again.

Exchanging coins within the exchange has fairly low fees
If i exchange it internally, I dont get hit by those fees?
I wish i seen your post sooner Sad

Hopefully exodus makes the bitcoin exchange available. It current does not work for exodus.

For other bitcoin MINERS, pls take note of this....for your own good. Do not be like me....
I am gonna mine BCC for the time being. Hopefully the internal exchange thing works without insane fees.

Check out the bottom right network fee if I were to send.....
