That was such an exciting race. A real shame about Leclerc though  Sad
Indeed, probably best race in this season so far. Hamilton had terrible start, later Kimi hitted him. Then Lewis didn't had problems to overtake slower oppinents, also Ericsson accident and safety car on track helped him a lot. And on last laps we saw close fight between Mercedes and Ferarri drivers and retirement of Verstappen. Vettel extended his championship leader position up to 8 points. Hamilton was very disappointed after finnish.
And we often see Kimi on podium this season, but I can't remember when he won last time Cheesy

Yes, it was a very good drive by Lewis Hamilton but his comment after the race was very unprofessional. He said that Ferrari's strategy was interesting like he was implying that Kimi Raikonnen hit his car intentionally.

Also, I reckon Lewis should not act high and morally superior on everyone because he too had made some mistakes in his career.
7882  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-07-10] China Celebrates Killing Its Bitcoin Exchanges as CNY Volume Falls on: July 11, 2018, 02:29:51 AM
Great, they've managed to make all thriving crypto related businesses move abroad, taking their money and their taxes with them. It's like saying that making a client stop doing business with you is a victory. Sure, it is, if you're all about earning less money, be my guest. There will always be others.
Falling volume doesn't mean that your citizens aren't trading Bitcoin, you bank morons. It only means that they're using other currencies, the ones that you can't block.

Also, they lost a very good opportunity to be the country that would have used bitcoin versus the USA as a leverage by demanding that bitcoin be the currency used in imports and exports. But what can they do if all they want to do is keep hoarding useless paper, the US dollar.

It fell on China's lap and would have been the leader in bitcoin's mining hardware production, mining, commerce and software development. But by killing it in their country, they have placed themselves in a position where they would play catch up versus other countries once again.
7883  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are ICO platforms and DEX hacks really exit scams by the ICO founders? on: July 11, 2018, 01:25:38 AM
News update. There are now some queries if Bancor is really decentralized. If it is then cryptocoins in the exchange should not be stolen because the users hold the private keys. The decentralized exchange also should not be able to freeze any trading or movement of coins, which Bancor can and did.

Bancor is centralized, and maybe the reason why they claim they are decentralized is to prevent their ICO token, BNT, to be classified as an illegal security by the SEC.

Also, the hackers are said to have exploited a backdoor in the exchange that was programmed by the Bancor developers themselves.

Bancor, an Israel-based company runs a ‘decentralised’ exchange called Bancor, ofcourse. In June last year, Bacor became the biggest ICO in terms of raising money. Bancor foundation raised $153 Million in Ether by selling its token BNT. What will Bancor build? A decentralised Exchange.

A year later today, the exchange was hacked and lost about $23.5 Million worth of cryptocurrency.

The exchange said in a statement, “a wallet used to upgrade some smart contracts was compromised”. The attackers withdrew 24984 ETH (~12.5 M USD), PundiX’s NPXS token worth approximately One million USD and BNT, Bancor’s tokens worth approximately 10 M USD.

Bancor has taken its exchange offline while it conducts an investigation. There is no word on when the service will resume.

The fundamental idea behind a decentralised exchange is that the users hold their private keys. Hence, decentralised exchanges don’t get hacked. Bancor has claimed to be a decentralised exchange and strictly speaking it looks like one because user funds remained unaffected in this hack. But there are reasons to categorise it as a centralised exchange which we will get to in a minute.

We have to wait until an official response from Bancor shares more insight. But while we wait, it isn’t a bad idea to glance upon what could be the loopholes that may have led to this hack.

A year ago when Bancor launched, a crypto researcher Udi Wertheimer pointed out the vulnerabilities in the Bancor smart contract in a blogpost. Today, while the real reason for the hack is still under investigation, the vulnerabilities call out on Bancor for being ‘decentralised’.

7885  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Are ICO platforms and DEX hacks really exit scams by the ICO founders? on: July 10, 2018, 01:52:06 AM
Might these hacks be really inside jobs done by the founders of the projects or the decentralized exchanges themselves? There is already a clear indication that close to all those ICOs will end in nothing but wasted effort and money to the naive founders, and millions in the pockets of the scammers.

If these hacks are a form of exit scams then we should see more of them this year and the next hehehe.

The value of Ethereum was down only slightly Monday after hackers made off with roughly $12 million worth of the digital currency in a coordinated attack on Bancor, a decentralized cryptocurrency exchange. At the time of writing, the stolen ether is still at large.

At roughly 00:00 UTC, Bancor was subject to a security breach exposing tens of thousands of ETH coins. ERC-20 tokens NPXS and BNT were also compromised in the attack.

Bancor disclosed the attack early Monday in a post that appeared on Twitter. The attack targeted a wallet used to upgrade some smart contracts on the network, which allowed the perpetrator to steal large sums of ERC-20 tokens in addition to Ethereum.

The monetary breakdown of the attack is as follows:

24,984 ETH (~$12.5 million)
229,356,645 NPXS (~$1 million)
3,200,000 BNT (~$10 million)

NXPS is the native currency of the Pundi X platform. Bancor is the native coin of the Bancor exchange.

7886  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-07-09] Stiglitz, Roubini and Rogoff lead joint attack on bitcoin on: July 10, 2018, 01:33:17 AM
@TraderTimm. Learning from those quotes, most experts might not be close to the idea of bitcoin and the cryptospace. I reckon it is the leaders of the financial industry that are paying those experts to spread FUD because the leaders know they have already lost.

Surely most economists have seen the beginning of the shift.
7887  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-07-09] Microsoft Allegedly Stops Accepting Bitcoin Once Again on: July 10, 2018, 01:21:14 AM
Can anyone name a Microsoft product that they'd like to buy? I can't think of one

The Xbox hehehe.

Coinbase has been the biggest factor in merchant contraction. Switching to making merchants control their own private keys was always going to make most of them abandon the idea.

Bitpay is the only alternative with banking integrated and they're doing their absolute best to deter custom too.

Slightly strange that the only two payment processors that count appear to want to kill off BTC spending. I guess that still makes it political but it's the payment processor's politics, not the merchants. I'd very much like to know what their agendas are.

I think Bitpay is still pathetically trying to leverage their position to push protocol development in a direction that suits them. They should have gotten the message a year ago, but I'm guessing some of their shareholders have that agenda.

Bitpay has no leverage, but it is already beginning to slowly push bitcoin cash as the next preferable medium of exchange in the cryptospace. Everyone already has seen that bitcoin's core development team will not yield to pressure. The team has a vision, knows their roadmap and will follow it to the end.
7888  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 226: Miocic vs Cormier Info and Prediction Thread on: July 10, 2018, 01:03:55 AM
@BillyBobZorton. I reckon Dana White's new storyboard will be Stipe versus Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier versus Brock Lesnar double header hehehe.

I also reckon that Dana wants to kill Stipe's career after Stipe disrespected him after Stipe's fight versus Francis Ngannou. Dana will feed him to Jon Jones, who has the skill to win versus the former heavyweight champion.

Daniel can win versus Brock Lesnar very easily, I reckon. This fight is only a money fight reward for the winner of UFC 226 heavyweight championship.
7889  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: EOSRAM thread on: July 09, 2018, 03:14:59 AM
Dan Larimer has properly played the game that has made him one of the biggest bitcoin whales in the cryptospace but in the expense of others. He is a serial dumper, from Bitshares, Steem and soon, also EOS. Be also mindful not to listen of what comes out of his mouth.
7890  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Pacquiao vs Matthysse July 15 2018 on: July 09, 2018, 02:45:03 AM
@Boafeng. That news article is hype. Do not trust anything positive written on the fight before any fight. You will go home very disappointed hehehe. Remember Floyd versus Manny, or Floyd versus Conor McGregor? Both fights were hyped to be super fights, they pleased many people, but ended failing to impress the real fans.
It's all part of the promotion of the upcoming fight. You don't write negative news before a fight or else no one will watch. We can only hear negative news after the fight.

Remember Floyd versus Manny, or Floyd versus Conor McGregor? Both fights were hyped to be super fights, they pleased many people, but ended failing to impress the real fans.
The fight between Floyd and Manny did not need an advertising as their names are popular enough even to non-fight fans all over the world. That fight was not hyped, this upcoming fight maybe. Smiley

Yes, hype the fight and tell no one of the hidden shoulder injury that Manny had before the fight because it is negative news.

Also, for a fight that did not need advertising because of the big names, it was a very uneventful. It was overhyped.
7891  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 226: Miocic vs Cormier Info and Prediction Thread on: July 09, 2018, 02:34:19 AM
I reckon you 2 do not have experience in Dana's UFC storyboards yet? hehehe

Cormier's call out was scripted. A money fight versus Brock Lesnar is Daniel's reward after winning the heavyweight championship, and to Dana's relief because he can now make a new storyboard after Daniel versus Brock.

Daniel Cormier versus Jon Jones in heavyweight should be the possible next in line for the UFC.
7892  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-07-09] Microsoft Allegedly Stops Accepting Bitcoin Once Again on: July 09, 2018, 02:05:02 AM
The attacks from the mainstream news media have been very constantly done in the past 2 weeks. Why? Is it because bitcoin will not die? The reversal of the bear marker is near? Some people in power are threatened?

But I reckon it will not be long until everyone will start clinging to the phrase if you cannot beat them, join them hehehe.

Big was people’s surprise when Microsoft began accepting Bitcoin payments a while ago. Although that was a positive development, it was evident the company never really saw any merit in cryptocurrency for the long term. Its failure to address most concerns regarding the removal of the Bitcoin option clearly showed that this payment option wasn’t of major concern to the technology giant.

Those rumors first began surfacing a few months ago. Bitcoin enthusiasts tried to find the BTC payment option, but it had been removed from the website. Instead, Microsoft had quietly moved the option to the user account screen, where BTC deposits could be made to top up one’s Microsoft account. It still had the same effect as direct payments, even though it was also a clear sign of what was yet to come.

According to a new Reddit post, anyone trying to top up their Microsoft account with Bitcoin will encounter major issues. Even though there are still links to top up one’s account with Bitcoin, the deposits are seemingly not being credited to users’ Microsoft accounts. This is apparently because the company has stopped accepting BTC transactions altogether, even though the payment option is still visible at this stage.

7893  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-07-09] Stiglitz, Roubini and Rogoff lead joint attack on bitcoin on: July 09, 2018, 01:40:24 AM
The problem is not when people in power start requiring very strict regulations on bitcoins, but the enforcement of those regulations. They plainly do not have the manpower and the technical capability to do it.

Also, the people in power should first stop the money laundering ring that involves some of the biggest banks in the world before attacking bitcoin.

Or maybe the big banks' monopoly on money laundering is threatened by bitcoin? hehehe

Three of the world’s most respected economists have led a joint attack on bitcoin, claiming the digital currency will be “regulated into oblivion” as governments globally move to clamp down on money laundering.

Joseph Stiglitz, Nouriel Roubini and Kenneth Rogoff have renewed their assault on the cryptocurrency believing it will be subject to further sharp and damaging falls as authorities crack down on criminals using bitcoin to launder money and avoid taxes.

Stiglitz, the Nobel Prize-winning economist, told Financial News: “You cannot have a means of payment that is based on secrecy when you’re trying to create a transparent banking system."

"If you open up a hole like bitcoin then all the nefarious activity will go through that hole, and no government can allow that.”

The price of the digital currency has fallen sharply from a high of almost $20,000 in December last year to below $6,000 at the end of June. Rogoff, the former chief economist at the International Monetary Fund, said government regulation would trigger further steep falls.

“Bitcoin could easily be worth just $100 in 10 years,” said the Harvard University professor. “People in power will move to regulate anonymous transactions. That you can be sure of.”

@smooth. Is the plan for Aeon is to keep following most of Monero's development and only copy some of them? Is Aeon a representation of some of your development disapproval in Monero, or maybe a representation of correcting mistakes. For example, implementing Confidential Transactions that made the block size bigger.

What vulnerability is there? I see Katiecharms ban threats for spreading scamcoins, and the one spreading it is an owner of a top 5 Aeon pool? Is he now shifting his business model to scamming?

There must be no money in Aeon hehehe.

@harizen. When was the last time Manny Pacquiao was knocked out by an opponent, and what are the chances that Lucas Matthysse can do it? It might make the fight more entertaining to bet on Lucas knocking out Manny and wait for that to happen hehehe.
7898  Economy / Speculation / Re: As bitcoin plunges, mega-bull Tom Lee stands by his $25,000 target on: July 07, 2018, 12:59:22 AM
The bitcoin news media and the mainstream news media are very confusing. First they release Tom Lee cuts prediction to $20,000. 1 hour later I read news updates that said Tom Lee reduces prediction to $22,000. Another 1 hour later I read another update saying Tom Lee predicts the same $25,000 by end of year.

Is Tom Lee ok?
7899  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018/07/05]BIS Chief to Crypto Coders: 'Stop Trying to Create Money' on: July 07, 2018, 12:50:38 AM
One word, fear.

It's extremely bullish seeing banks and everything around them continue to talk crap about Bitcoin. The harder they are trying to convince you that Bitcoin and crypto is a scam and whatnot, the more you should buy of it.

The only time they will ever start appreciate crypto, is when they are heavily involved in it and make tons and tons of money, and it will happen. It's just a matter of time before they enter.

Banks in the end care about one thing only, and that's generating income, and crypto is perfect for that considering that we are still in the first stage of everything. Fasten your seatbelts and enjoy the ride up. Smiley

Yes, fear that their monopoly for controlling the financial system is going away. They do not want the young generation to really have the realization that a form of currency that is independent from their centralized system can exist and can have value.
7900  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple future on: July 06, 2018, 02:47:04 AM
@Dhanems. Ripple might be classified as an illegal security by the SEC. Their development team is doing all the tricks to make it appear that their platform is decentralized, but I reckon, they will not work as it did in Ethereum.

For Ripple, they will never be decentralized because they choose who to include to become validators to their unique node list. They control the distribution of XRP and, I reckon, the development also is controlled by only Ripple itself and some of the code is closed source.

The logo should be insignificant of all your unease in Ripple hehe.
