81  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Bitmain Antminer S9 Control Board Cyclone V2.4 and C5_IO_Board_V1.3 (Problem) on: February 19, 2019, 12:04:43 AM
Replacing it might be a good idea but it looks like the price of s9 control board is too expensive from Amazon here https://www.amazon.com/Antminer-S9-Data-Circuit-Board/dp/B01N3RLTV0
I don't think it's worth it to replace it with brand new control board.

@OP I'm sure the jumper on the control board is the same location as an old version of the antminer s9 control board.

As a general rule never EVER EVER EVER buy crypto related things on amazon. The prices are outrageous there, its mostly people trying to capitalize on ignorance. I found one on ebay for half that price in about 20 seconds of looking.
82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why are profits so low? on: February 19, 2019, 12:00:07 AM
Making a profit into mining nowadays is impossible because even the numbers of miners subsided but still the level of difficulty is still high and getting a break-even to the costs of mining is so impossible based on the latest rates so it's obvious that mining is a pure investment that needs perseverance.

To those miners that still mining right now would definitely earn their fruits of labor.

See people spit out this same old crap about getting into it. Just because you are a solo user with no access to capital or skilled labor, does NOT mean its impossible. Just that its impossible from your tiny world view.

Heres a little secret: Since the beginning, to make a profit you have to expand your operation. You either expand or die, thats never changed. What changed is the mindset of people who entered the game during the crazy price run of 2017 and expected the outrageous profits to continue forever.
83  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining in South American and Central Asian countries on: February 18, 2019, 11:29:17 PM
I cant speak for anyone else but there are some serious challenges when trying to build something like this in a country you are not from. You dont understand laws, customs, or anything of that nature where you are going. You dont speak the language so a proper labor force and contact with contractors can be a pain. Trusting your multi million dollar facility in the hands of locals is a scary proposition, and living down there or spending massive amounts of time down to secure the facility would be pretty terrible considering the distances involved. There are obviously a number of other socioeconomic issues to deal with as well.

For example id shy away from ANY and ALL soviet bloc countries such as Uzbekistan based on the current political climate and the issues we have in the US with Russia right now. I would also stay away from South America as a general rule because of the massive amounts of corruption, struggle, and strife South America seems to constantly have. The US border crisis is in no small part due to the mass exodus of people in South America trying to come up this way through Mexico.
84  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Bitmain Antminer S9 Control Board Cyclone V2.4 and C5_IO_Board_V1.3 (Problem) on: February 18, 2019, 11:19:08 PM
It is probably cheaper and quicker to replace it considering how long you will go without hashing while you try and figure it out.
85  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: MIning on: February 18, 2019, 04:59:05 PM
Hello.

Good luck with your project! I would recommend you post it in the forum marketplace under Service Announcements as you will get more eyes on it that way.
86  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint T1 16TH/S halongmining.com on: February 18, 2019, 04:54:47 PM
I didn't realize Halong was operating this way, skimping and lying about the quality of their chips and components.

They were a fly by night con job in the end. All this talk about bringing power back to the mines hands and all this other garbage about how they were going to be the better choice for equipment.

The reality is, they did nothing more than sell a rebranded innosilicon designed miner.

TLDR their business practices were incredibly shady from the get go, despite MANY of us repeatedly calling them out over it people somehow still decided to buy from them. You should not be surprised about a lack of quality when it comes to their single product they made before folding.
87  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain Release new 7NM Chip and Antminer S17 & T17 on: February 18, 2019, 04:49:27 PM
The real question is how shitty they will be.

Their gear is now a shame in term of durability.

Drink less hatorade and do a bit of research and you will find that bitmains quality and reliability are on par (if not better) with anyone else on the market other than Canaan. Since Canaan usually prices themselves out of the market, bitmain still provides the most efficient gear and the best prices.
88  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain BM1397 2nd-Gen 7nm Chip on: February 18, 2019, 04:44:33 PM
Well thats a bit of a surprise, thats a massive leap in efficiency. I am looking forward to seeing that chip in action.
89  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] [US] Pair of 1080TI rigs, built by VoskCoin and Remote Mine, respectively. on: February 15, 2019, 09:49:09 PM
As a community we have to police ourselves and when someone is asking outrageous prices we have a duty to protect someone that may not know you are asking outrageous prices.

You trumpet that these rigs were built by specific people as that has some kind of meaning? One is a youtuber addicted to click bait titles and only giving portions of the facts on the things he talks about, the other is someone who closed up shop and disappeared in a scammy way. How does that add value to what you are trying to sell?

You may be unhappy but people have a right to call stuff like this out. You are asking literally double what the rigs are worth, and you have to know that. So why are you so upset on being called out on it?
90  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Testing a 220VA Wall Socket? on: February 15, 2019, 09:35:02 PM
I'm guessing you got involved in Bitcoin and other cryptos around 2017?
So you only see bitcoin as a money making machine. And you can't imagine why anyone would mine at a lost. But in fact I was an early miner back in 2009 when Bitcoin was less than a penny and you could mine it on a desktop. Hardly nobody back then was making much money with mining. There is far more to mining Bitcoin than pure profit. But as a late adopter, I'm guessing that would be too difficult to explain it all to you.

Even if I was doing it at a lost, I'd still want to mine. And I think Bitcoin will eventually climb much higher. So I hang on for the long run.

You are so far off base its laughable when it comes to me. I have been doing this as a career for years and I run one of the largest mines in North America, and would venture to say I have more mining experience than any 50 people you would like to gather combined. You picked the wrong person to try an call out, I will clown on you until you give up if that is how you want to play it.

I am saying this because what you are attempting is extremely stupid and potentially dangerous. You came here for advice, we give you advice you dont like, so you argue and attack the people that are trying to save you from your own ignorance.

I was an early miner too, that does not make you better than anyone. As a matter of fact, most early miners I know are intelligent enough to understand what we are trying to tell you. If you just want a miner so you can feel like "part of the club" go get a USB stick miner from sidehack. You can run it on a computer, which will help you feel more comfortable since that is where you are so proud of starting from. Plus it has the bonus of reducing the chance of you burning your place down to basically nothing.

Or if your confidence in the coin is that strong, buy the amount of bitcoin it would cost you to buy the miner, then buy the $100 in coin the first month, $90 in the second, $80 in the third. That way you are mirroring the profitability of the miner without any of the hassle. Then there are no noise issues, no safety issues, and you can stop making a fool of yourself on the internet.

You are quite welcome for the ideas, good luck with them.
91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Z9 Full Modded Efudd NO-DEV FEE 100% Free Individual Clocking on: February 15, 2019, 09:11:38 PM
So let me get this straight.....

chipless steals code, and by proxy money directly from fudds pockets for something he has earned by putting the work in

then gets indignant when called out about it

and is now threatening things like an angry teenager on an internet rampage

Chipless...you do realize you are 100% in the wrong? Wait why am I asking, you know you are or you wouldnt have removed the link...

You have lost this battle so badly you have nothing left to hang on to other than some empty threats, if I was you I would be so embarrassed I would never post again.
92  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Testing a 220VA Wall Socket? on: February 15, 2019, 06:54:40 PM
There's got to be a way I can find out how much juice I can get out of a socket without access to.the breaker panel, no?

No not really. Your only option would be to put increasingly large loads on it until you pop the breaker, then you will have a basic idea.

Is spending a bunch of money sound proofing a machine and giving up your stove to make like $100 in a year really worth it?

I just dont follow the logic behind this at all. One miner stands no chance of making you more than some pocket change over the course of the year when you calculate paying it back and the cost of all the other stuff you have to do to quiet it. My brain hurts trying to imagine a scenario where this makes any sense at all....
93  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 40TH/80TH new Miners??? Swiss Miner on: February 15, 2019, 06:49:42 PM
Something could be said of priorities. Perhaps they'd rather serve individuals or small customers instead of large industrial parties to help re-balance the system back in favor of the people.

Then again, I'm well aware that most other people don't get into the crypto business because they *don't* want to make an overwhelming amount of money, so the likelihood of this is much less than it's a scam.

Unfortunately you seem to be one of the only people in this industry I have ever met producing hardware for the individual and not trying to get rich off of them.

I am pretty surprised this thread has gone on this long since my scam sense went off the moment i saw the first video posted.
94  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is Decred or any Blake256R14 mining profitable? on: February 14, 2019, 06:27:25 PM
There are plenty of calculators out there to answer your questions

95  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Testing a 220VA Wall Socket? on: February 14, 2019, 06:25:43 PM
The answer is, these LOUD INDUSTRIAL MINERS are not meant to be run in a home let alone an apartment.

This is just a terrible idea all the way around
96  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Bitmain Antminer S9 Control Board Cyclone V2.4 and C5_IO_Board_V1.3 (Problem) on: February 14, 2019, 06:23:30 PM
So have you tried both forms of factory reset?

97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: L3 access denied and not mining (to my pool) on: February 14, 2019, 12:13:01 AM
Hi,
I've been blocked out of accessing my rigs two times. I have enables remote access to my rigs via port forwarding on my router and also SSH ports.

Not to be too blunt here but opening your miners to the internet like that is the single dumbest thing you could ever do.

This is because the firmware on those devices, the versions of the programs it runs, etc are all well known and do not change with 'firmware updates'

So its really easy to find an exploit for anything it is running as they do not and cannot update.

You need to have a VPN of some sort protecting you if you want to access them on the internet.

This can be done with a raspberry pi very cheaply

Here is the software I would recommend for a beginner doing this: http://www.pivpn.io/
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining software to mine with a laptop with a GPU NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 on: February 13, 2019, 08:26:54 PM
You better have an extended warranty, because if you cant afford an ASIC you cant afford to replace that laptop after you kill it mining a few pennies
99  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Profitability Thoughts for Mining? on: February 13, 2019, 04:55:46 PM
I suggest you to move to Venezuela (Seriously) if possible. Check out this image

People have been reposting this graphic forever now but the data is sorely out of date. Also considering all of the different power options its really completely useless data.
100  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer s9 PSU failed possibly due to overheat on: February 13, 2019, 12:20:18 AM
Please be very careful and think twice before deciding to use repaired low end tech.

I have been doing this for longer than most and have had just about everything blow up in my face

so I implore you to use caution
