Whenever I talk here about 0.0075 BTC price I spook the rally Sad So I will stop.

It finally happened! Coinbase is under 2XMR. So less then 1 fresh XMR a minute or 1440 a day.

The bears ammo are drying up and its only going to get tougher for them.

Probably more fair to start measuring BTC price or value from 2012, if not a bit later.. but hey.. we can assess that there was some liquidity and price finding abilities that were starting to occur in 2010 and 2011
I think rational price discovery started early as late August or September 2010

I find it rather comforting to learn that 'Column J' has stayed well within a two-order-of-magnitude range over the listed date range.

Err...
Column J is short for Column Jbreher.
On a more serious note, the posted link explains it.  Naming the indicator "ratio of btc price to projection", which it is, wouldn't be very informative.  You have to read the background information, which entails extensive modeling in multiple steps.

Well this is huge, time to warn the guys to dump. Smiley

It's not that huge. The main thing that got deflated here was the hype about MW being a strong privacy technology when in fact it has always been weak privacy with some other benefits, and sober (non-hype) review and analysis has said that all along.

Then again, I guess given the level of hype with this one (more than most, to say the least), deflating that could indeed be seen as somewhat huge.
The  cut-throughs don't successfully eliminate data, because surely some entity logs all the transactions in real time and stores the data.  And there you have it, a full blockchain.

The NY state judge denied Bitfinex's request to have the Martain act subpoena for documents dismissed based on lack of personal jurisdiction. They have been ordered to turn over documents to the NYAG within 90 days

Bitfinex has already appealed the decision.
How extensive is the demand for documents.  I'm wondering if the NY AG is doing this because they're gunning for U.S. citizens who used bitfinex.  Does the demand cover client records?

When somebody hacked me and got 7000 xmr, Hueristic was about the only guy who took me seriously.  Most of the others piled on with predictable abuse.
Also, he's a very knowledgable guy, and I value that.
Overall, Hueristic's valuable contributions outweigh his little irritable outbursts.   As an older fellow with physical problems, I also let my annoyance get the better of me.
Hueristic, you should know we're on your side.  Next time something gets your goat, just think positive -- we're all your friends here.

Is bitcoin dead?

Let me check...

No.

And it's over 12100.

Would be nice to get above 12500 and confirm upwards movement
Iīd prefer several months of consolidation and range trading.
88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: June 29, 2019, 12:57:09 PM

Also why do people refer to crypto coins as he/him.  Should be,"why did it drop so much in value" not he....
Maybe English isnīt their first language.  I think most Romance languages, for example, donīt have a neuter third person singular pronoun.  The default is masculine:  il (French), el (Spanish) and so on.

Deleting posts was especially a trend when we were leading up to 10k pages.. in order to slow down the reaching of 10k pages.   I did not delete any of my posts.
So you're saying that your record posting volume has an asterisk?

The conventional wisdom says, only invest what you can afford to lose.
I plunged in with almost my entire life savings.  I am not the type to panic sell, so I've survived the ups and downs and come out in pretty good shape.
If I had invested only what I could afford to lose, I'd be living in poverty now, scraping by on disability checks.
Moral of the story?
F@&k conventional wisdom.

A Bulgarian woman had a fishing float (bitcoin) she kept it at the bottom of a lock. But one day the water kept rising. She was like smooth. It kept rising almost to the top. She knew she could remove the float anytime if it was to start draining drastically. But she just watched the float bobbing about in the lock.

One day it rose up so high the little float bobbed of into a big river, then into a huge river, then into an ocean. The woman was very happy for her faith in physics.

The same the lady's bitcoin floated away, her husband lost his bitcoin in a boating accident.
"At least we have each other.  That's what's important!"
And they lived happily ever after in their little house by the lock.
Don't be like them.

20k next week.  Cool Central Banks are buying and we know govs like to overpay for things Cheesy

We have skipped institutional money phase and just gone straight to Central Banks starting a Bitcoin arms race.

I will be in Vegas for several weeks starting on Sunday staking out good 100k party locations.
I wouldn't pay 100k $100 to go to a party with you freaks.

Do you raise cattle and slaughter them?
I once helped slaughter a cow.  In Neuquen province.  A couple of gauchos dragged a beef out of the pen, tied it to a tree, and stuck a knife in its throat.  I helped 'em skin it.  And they gave me a couple slices of raw heart to eat.  Did you know heart is good to eat raw?

Monero is bullush for 2 reasons, not good ones but anyway.. As the leading privacy coin it will be used for dark purchasing whether is via the dark web or P2P monero will be there as one of the payment choices. Also, people who wish to hide their wealth will store it in monero rather than BTC
Nothing wrong with those reasons.
The dark web has its good side.  I forget who said "you can't get knifed buying drugs on the web" or something to that effect.  And dark web drug bazaar seller rating systems means good drugs.  You don't want to end up like some meth head in Gary, Indiana who lost his teeth to caustic meth cooked in a trailer park.  Arguably, when a dark bazaar like Silk Road gets taken down, it means more deaths due to drug impurities and violence.
And "hiding your wealth" isn't illegal per se.  I don't want Fat Vinny and his crew knowing where I keep my benjamins or my Monori.

This is a self-moderated topic. If you do not want to be moderated by the person who started this topic, create a new topic. (60 posts by 15 users deleted.)

Sixty posts deleted out of about 480k, or one in eight thousand.
Whereas deleting half the posts would improve thread quality -- historically speaking.
Lately about 80 or 90 percent of the posts need to go.

Yes but which 80 or 90 percent?

We tried voting but the bugmen keep stuffing the ballots
Meh, it is what it is.  At least this thread isn't mean-spirited.  The BS is in good fun.

No need to look at my posting history and point out that I'm guilty too.  Well aware.
